Good god, this is considered to be a "game"?

It's a visual novel. If you expected something else that's on you for not actually checking what kind of game it was before you started.

i got it free through plus, so it's on plus for giving us something that really shouldn't be considered a game. i can't imagine someone would actually want to pay for this. i mean, why not just give us a tv show or something and call it a game? at least then you can be COMPLETELY lazy and not even have to touch a controller... i mean this is worse than the yakuza games with all the rambling and unnecessary dialog. this is ALL dialog!

Yeah, this is why it is called a Visual Novel. It is like reading a book with some additional pictures.

Personally, I love reading Visual Novels. Now you know that isn't the genre for you.

manga with a voice-over...

Your game must be bugged. Correct version is not black and white.

this is ALL dialog!

Yea, that's why it's Visual... Novel.

And no, there pretty much isn't any 'game' aspect to this. (Still more than in vanilla Xblaze, though, that was pure VN, here you are walking)

Seriously... people always complain before actually checking what they plan to play...

This^

XBlaze is essentially a Digital Book that plays itself and has multiple endings i.e like virtually every Telltale game ever made, thus you shouldn't go in expecting it to be anything other than what it is :).

As for the Yakuza complaint, the random bits of dialogue are what give that series its depth because the game aren't all about beating up your rivals and fawning over the girls at your local Hostess club but learning the deep history and story behind each character :). I love the Yakuza games but they're so time consuming that it's hard to find the time to play them :(.

so far i've been sitting here for 30 minutes watching a manga with a voice-over... when does the game part start? :dull:

To all the people commenting on this is a visual novel and not a game I have three points to make.

1. It listed as a game on PSN

2. When you go to quit the option "Quit game" appears on screen.

3. After downloading this , the "visual novel" appears under the game's tab.

So I agree with the OP on this one, this game, and I am calling this a game for the stated reasons above is awful. If they wanted to make a visual novel, here's an idea, release it for a tablet and not the PS3.

Visual Novels are still "games". No one in this thread said visuals novels aren't "games". It's OP's fault for not looking at what kind of "game" it was before they started it if they aren't interested in playing a visual novel.

I am appalled by the decision of adding those stupid 8-bit dungeon crawler. they can either make it looked better, make the dungeon being fun/challenge to travel, or better yet, just release a Visual novel as it is.

Well, maybe I shouldn't complain so much for a free and fast platinum.....

Well shit. This was my first Visual Novel, and I now know that I don't want anything to do with this genre anymore.

I completely lost interest in what was going on within the first 15 minutes, so I skipped dialogue the rest of the way. But the headache didn't start until the point of no return. Over a goddamn hour of skipping dialogue and cutscenes. For a game that put some gameplay in it...that portion ended WAY too soon for the insane amount of cutscenes you had to endure after that.

No more of this for me. I did it for the easy plat, but is not worth the boredom.

Psa, this really isn't a good first visual novel if youre playing for reasons other then trophies. This is after all a sequel to another vn(a poor sequel too as a good 60-70% is a glorified recap episode) and you really have to play the first xblaze to get anything out of this game. If you ever decide to give a visual novel another chance you should try steins gate, danganronpa, or zero escape trilogy as those are much more interesting storywise and the later two series are closer to a typical adventure game then a steriotypical read text with pictures people think of when you think of visual novels. At least with danganronpa and zero escape you have actual puzzles and aren't just reading text for 20-30 hours.

For this one, just skip all of the Me + Nobody trash except for the end and it'll be much more enjoyable. Oh and you can skip some of banter at the end in the 'real world' too as it doesn't develop the characters really. There is good story and lore here, too bad it's so obfuscated by weeb crap. I also played BlazBlue, so that helped me follow with the story and maintain my intrigue.
