[*]Does difficulty affect trophies?: There is no difficulty setting for this game.

Energy Cycle is a puzzle game developed by Sometimes You, the same developers of Energy Balance. The gameplay consist of clicking on energy cells on the game field. When you click on a cell, it'll change colors and the colors of the adjacent cells horizontally and vertically. To solve the puzzles, you need to bring all the cells to the same color. It's a Blackout/Lights Out game.

Trophy-wise, this is a very easy and fast Platinum Trophy to obtain. Currently, there's an exploit that came within the base game's build that makes it possible to achieve the Platinum in as little as 5-30 minutes. You can use a Text/Picture or Video guide to get all the trophies as quickly as possible. What you'll be doing is playing the following three modes:

  • Puzzle: No timer and pre-designed puzzles, meaning they're the same puzzles for everyone. The Exploit doesn't work for this mode. Must be completed legit.
  • Time Attack: Has a timer and scoring system and all puzzles are random. The Exploit works for this mode.
  • Infinite Play: No timer, all puzzles are random but you can play it forever. The Exploit works for this mode.

The Exploit: The exploit is very simple and this can be done at the start of the game since Time Attack and Infinite Play are both available at the start of the game. What you need to do is solve the first puzzle, which is random for everyone. Once you solve it, quickly mash :cross: until the other trophies within that game mode all unlock. This is what makes Energy Cycle super fast to Platinum. The EU version is a little different, the NA exploit still works but in the EU version you don't have to solve the first puzzle. In fact, as soon as the 1 appears on the screen, start mashing the :cross: until the other trophies within that game mode all unlock.

Could the exploit be patched in the near future?: There's always a possibility that the game can be patched and you will no longer be able to do the mash :cross: exploit after solving the first puzzle from Time Attack and Infinite Play. If this happens, the game will no longer be a fast Platinum Trophy of 5-30 minutes. You will have to do the trophies for Time Attack and Infinite Play legit and they're random for everyone. Solving 30 and 50 random puzzles can be annoying for a puzzle game.

Patch Version 1.02: On March 28th, 2018 (Patch 1.01) and April 3rd, 2018 (Patch 1.02), the game received a patch. Don't worry, the glitch exploits still work for both NA and EU. All the patches did was added different language translations for the game. If there are any more patches in the future, please inform me so I can check if the exploit still works.

These steps can be done in any order. The Trophy Guide is written XMB Order.

Step 1: Complete the game by solving the first 28 levels in Puzzle Mode

From the main menu, press :cross: to enter Puzzle Mode. Here, you'll see numbers from 1 through 28. You must first solve the puzzle for level 1 and then make your way towards the final level. These puzzles are the same for everyone, so if you want to watch a video walkthrough or simply use a picture guide, feel free to do so. It's highly recommended that you use a walkthrough or copy the solutions of the puzzles during this step, as it only takes about 6-8 minutes to complete the game by following the solutions.

Completing Puzzle Mode will unlock the following trophies:

(B) Level 3 Completed

(B) Level 6 Completed

(B) Level 9 Completed

(S) Level 12 Completed

(S) Level 15 Completed

(S) Level 18 Completed

(G) Level 21 Completed

(G) Level 24 Completed

(G) Level 27 Completed

(G) Game Completed

Step 2: Play Time Attack Mode and complete the first 30 levels (Random puzzles)

From the main menu, press :square: to enter Time Attack Mode. Here, you have a time limit of 1 hour to solve random puzzles. There are three trophies tied to this game mode and each trophy only unlocks by making it to layers #10, #20 and #30. Once you have the Time Attack Layer #30 trophy, you can stop playing Time Attack Mode.

It's highly recommended that you do the exploit for this mode. To do the exploit, solve the first puzzle solution, then quickly keep mashing :cross: until you've passed through layer #30 in Time Attack Mode. The first random puzzle is quite easy to solve despite its randomness. If you're on the EU version, you can simply keep mashing the :cross: as soon as the 1 appears on your screen until you passed through layer #30 in Time Attack Mode. This exploit can unlock all three Time Attack Mode trophies in under 30 seconds.

It should be noted that if you’re doing the Time Attack mode legit, the faster you solve the puzzles the more time you’ll get added back onto the time limit.

Completing Time Attack Mode will unlock the following trophies:

(S) Time Attack Layer #10

(G) Time Attack Layer #20

(G) Time Attack Layer #30

Step 3: Play Infinite Play Mode and complete the first 50 levels (Random puzzles)

From the main menu, press :triangle: to enter Infinite Play Mode. Here, you have no time limits to solve the random puzzles since you can play this mode forever as long as you don't close the game application. There are five trophies tied to this game mode and each trophy only unlocks by making it to layers #10, #20, #30, #40, and #50. Once you have the Infinity Layer #50 trophy, you can stop playing Infinite Play Mode.

It's highly recommended that you do the exploit for this mode. To do the exploit, solve the first puzzle solution, then quickly keep mashing :cross: until you've passed through layer #50 in Infinite Play Mode. The first random puzzle is quite easy to solve despite its randomness, but you have all the time in the world to solve it. If you're on the EU version, you can simply keep mashing the :cross: as soon as the 1 appears on your screen until you passed through layer #50 in Infinite Play Mode. This exploit can unlock all five Infinite Play Mode trophies in under 30 seconds.

Completing Infinite Play Mode will unlock the following trophies:

(B) Infinity Layer #10

(S) Infinity Layer #20

(S) Infinity Layer #30

(G) Infinity Layer #40

(G) Infinity Layer #50

(P) Energy Cycle Platinum

Blaze between this and 1000 Top Rated, do you think we should just go to plunder the depths of the PlayStation Store and find literally any shitty shit game with a fifteen minute platinum to write guides for?

I would argue this game is even more cynical than Top Rated. At least the devs of Top Rated know what their game is meant to be for ahahahaha

Personally, I suspect that the developer of this game intended to make a legitimate game, and it can only be done super quick due to the :cross: glitch. Without that, the game would definitely take some time to complete since some of the time attack and infinite puzzles are quite difficult. If they fix that glitch, it will no longer be a quick & cheap Platinum and I suspect more trophy hunters would ignore it unless they were hard up for games to play.

Unlike 1000 Top Rated which was pretty much nothing more than a cash grab directed at trophy hunters. At least it was cheap. :D

Thanks for the feedback, I'll actually be on the lookout for updates. Won't delete the game from my console until January 2018.

As for the Vita, I have even tried that system yet. I'll see if I can download it later today if it on there. The trophy list is shared after all.

Funny that it took you longer to screen grab all the shots and type this all out than to actually platinum the game. :)

Yes, that is true. Had to get image from Facebook, save them in a folder, edit the image, save it as a png, upload it to imgur. Paste link in spoiler. Was more time consuming than playing the game like you said. :p

Had to do that at the start of each puzzle once the image was taken.

Also had to check if my solution was right before saving the images. Had some wrong but figured them out and fixed them before uploading to imgur. :)
