  • Approximate amount of time to Platinum: 21-25hrs (Estimated Time to Platinum)

  • Glitched trophies: None
  • Does difficulty affect trophies?: No, all can be received on Easy
  • Do trophies stack?: No
  • Do cheat codes disable trophies?: No cheats available.

Introduction:

Atelier Firis is the second entry in the "Mysterious" Atelier series taking place shortly after the conclusion of Atelier Sophie. It features the return of some traditional Atelier gameplay elements such as the time limit and individual character endings, while adding new features like an open world map and a time system where time passes as you move around. It's an easy Platinum overall, as the boss fights required for the trophies are significantly easier compared to Atelier Sophie and the one missable trophy is very doable if you plan ahead but can also be very easily done in New Game+ if you miss it in your first playthrough.

Walkthrough:

NOTE: The trophy names that show up in the PlayStation trophy notification when they unlock, may be different from the name that is shown in the actual trophy list e.g. This is EXTREME Compounding! will show as Ultimate Class Cauldron!! in the unlock notification. I’m not sure what causes this discrepancy, but this guide will refer to the names that are used in the trophy list rather than what shows in the notifications.

Step 1: Playthrough the story until you pass the exam

Atelier Firis has three main parts: The prologue, which gives you a 30 day time limit to complete an objective, pre-exam which gives you a 1 year (360 day) time limit to pass the official alchemist exam, and post-exam which gives you unlimited time to do character events and meet ending requirements. The first step is to just play through the game normally until you have passed the official alchemist exam. Note that the one missable trophy, Master and apprentice battle (S)(H), will occur during the exam. If you plan on doing this on your first playthrough, then you will need to reserve some time to create decent equipment and attack items for Firis. See the synthesis section at the bottom of this guide for details on making good items that will make the fight very easy. You can alternatively leave this for a New Game Plus as you can carry over your equipment and attack items making the fight trivial. Here are some general tips for playing:

  • Time will pass while you move around with about 4 seconds of walking (or 3 seconds of running) corresponding to an hour in game time including inside of buildings (except the Atelier) so try not to run around in circles too much. Time will not pass if you are standing still.
  • Try to uncover as much of the maps as possible on your way to Flussheim as this will allow you to earn a decent amount of money when you report your info progress at the Flussheim Institute.
  • Warping to camp fires/landmarks on the map takes less time than running to them, so try to uncover them to allow for quicker travel
  • If you have the Wonderland DLC costume I would use it almost exclusively during the pre-exam part of the game as it reduces synthesis time by 3 hours and also reduces movement time.
  • Once you’ve unlocked Atelier Making, it's recommended you unlock the Simple Chest and Big Container recipes to expand your container size. The default size of 1000 is significantly smaller than the 5000 you were given in Sophie, so you’ll likely find yourself discarding a lot of items unless you expand the size. You can unlock the recipes by collecting Dona Wood and Evihibrow from fallen logs in White Fog Forest
  • After Ilmeria joins your party and you get the Alchemist Dress costume, it’s highly recommended that you go back to Flussheim to synthesize a 999 quality Distilled Water (see synthesis section at bottom of the guide). It only takes a few days to make and will basically allow you to auto-pass the exam once you reach Reisenberg. This is also a good time to get the recommendation from Ren and to make your attack items and equipment for Firis if you are planning to go for the missable trophy on your first playthrough.

By the end of this step you will at least have:

(B)(H) Dream like power

(S)(H) Tornado ship

(B)(H) First recommendation letter

(G)(H) Qualified alchemist!

(B)(H) Gift from mother

(B)(H) This is EXTREME Compounding!!

(B)(H) No tricks at all

(B)(H) Found a landmark

Step 2: Meet all ending requirements

The post-exam part of the story has no time limit so will be free to pursue the 10 different ending requirements. First you need to go back to Reisenberg to meet up with Sophie but afterwards, you will be free to do whatever you want. For details on ending requirements see What I want to do (S)(H). I recommend doing the following first:

  • Create the Sky Flicker broom to increase your movement speed. You get the recipe from the "Item to Move Fast?" quest which you should automatically get post-exam.

  • Make equipment for your party as detailed in the synthesis guide if you didn't already make it pre-exam.

  • Do Meklet and Atomina's event line (see Quest for the truth(B)(H)) to unlock the air ship which will let you fast travel between areas and greatly reduce time spent traveling when doing other events.

Once you've met all of the requirements, make a separate save so that you can reload it to view each ending. After this step you will at least have unlocked:

(S)(H) What I want to do

(B)(H) Like a wind

(B)(H) With master

(B)(H) Quest for the truth

(B)(H) Whimsical Journey

(B)(H) The two's Atelier

(B)(H) Rookie puppeteer

(B)(H) Goal is to be the strongest

(B)(H) Archaeological journey

(B)(H) Principal!

(B)(H) My friend is a flower

(G)(H) Never ending journey

(B)(H) The most important thing

(B)(H) Make up

(B)(H) Puppet show with a soul

(B)(H) Revy’s success diary

(B)(H) Over come death

(B)(H) Firmament Lord

(B)(H) The two gods

Step 3: Finish up non-ending related events

Now it's time to clean up the non-ending related event trophies. You can do this step before or while doing the previous step if you so choose. See the trophy descriptions for details on events:

(B)(H) Treasure beyond the steam vapor

(B)(H) Traditional dance

(B)(H) Singing poet

(B)(H) Drinker

(B)(H) Deep dark water

(G)(H) The girl that knows the origin

Step 3: Clean up miscellaneous trophies

The remaining trophies are miscellaneous trophies that you may have already gotten by playing through the game normally. Check the individual trophies for the ones that you are still missing:

(B)(H) Journey records

(B)(H) Environmental change

(S)(H) Traveled around the world

(S)(H) As an alchemist

(B)(H) Leave it to Firis!

(B)(H) Knowledge is power

(B)(H) Atelier makeover

(B)(H) Sis check it out

(B)(H) Barrel!!

(B)(H) Increase…

Step 5: New game plus (if needed)

If you didn't get the Master and apprentice battle (S)(H) trophy in your first run, then you will need to do a new game plus. You will carry over your battle equipment and any items you placed in your Atelier via Atelier Making so make sure you have equipped you best gear. Also, make sure to create some Lightning Crystals and place them in your atelier as you can't carry over Blitz Stones via Atelier Making (see synthesis guide at the end of this guide). Just quickly play through the game until the exam in Reisenberg and win the battle to get the trophy and the Platinum:

Trophy Guide

Congraturations! You gathered all the trophies!

Congrats on getting the Platinum!

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/5203/8db.jpg Dream like power (B)(H)

You met Sophie and Plachta

Story related, can't be missed.

This will unlock during the prologue during the Main Quest: Contrary to Heart.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/5203/5f7.jpg Tornado ship (S)(H)

Created a ship that can go through tornados

Story related, can't be missed.

When you reach Flussheim, you will start a long series of Main Quests for building a boat starting with "Town Lacks Energy?" and ending with "Preparation!". You will also unlock This is EXTREME Compounding!! during this series of quests.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/5203/a7a.jpg First recommendation letter (B)(H)

You got a recommendation

Story related, can't be missed.

In order to qualify for the alchemist exam you will need to obtain 3 out of 5 recommendations and this trophy will unlock once you have received your first one. Recommendations can be obtained from these locations:

  • Faave Hills (Mechen): Dion

  • White Fog Forest (Dona): Aurelie

  • Flussheim: Ren (After Ilmeria joins the party)

  • Weist Plain (Grau-Tal): Norbert

  • North Auoro Snowfield (Flocke): Kirsche

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/5203/7b1.jpg Qualified alchemist! (G)(H)

You passed the official alchemist exam

Story related, can't be missed.

This will be the main quest upon completing the prologue. You need to obtain 3 recommendations and make it to Reisenberg within the 360 day time limit but the time limit is quite lenient so you will more than likely have 100+ days remaining by the time you reach Reisenberg. The exam consists of 5 parts:

- 20 multiple choice questions

- Synthesizing any item with a 1 minute time limit

- Attacking an enemy once for high damage

- Battle against Ilmeria if you scored 50 or more points in the previous parts

- Battle against Sophie if you scored 70 or more points and beat Ilmeria

For the purposes of this trophy, you just need to score a combined 50 points to pass the exam. Winning or losing against Ilmeria or Sophie doesn't affect your results. If you synthesize a 999 quality Distilled Water (see synthesis tips at the end of this guide) for the 2nd part of the exam, you will get over 100 points meaning you will automatically pass regardless of how you do on the other parts of the exam. Note that for the missable Master and apprentice battle trophy, you need to beat Sophie to get it. See that trophy for tips on the fight.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/5203/10a.jpg What I want to do (S)(H)

You decided what you want to do

Story related, can't be missed.

Once you have reached the post-exam part of the game, you will be able to start working on ending requirements. There are 10 different endings and once you have met any of the requirements there will be an event in the Atelier that will start the Main Quest: My Future. Interacting with the stone door in Ertona at this point will allow you to choose between the endings you've unlocked. Make sure you save the clear data as a separate save so you can reload your old save to view the remaining endings.

A note on your party and character events. Liane will be a permanent member of your party throughout the game, and Sophie and Plachta will also be permanent in the post-exam part of the game. Of the other 6 potential party members, you will be able to bring 3 at a time and you can add them to your party at the Inn or Tavern in all major towns. Characters friend levels will increase as time passes, providing they are in your party so you could potentially just sleep in the Atelier to increase friend levels. Friend levels are also capped during the pre-exam part of the game with them generally capping at 40 for most characters. The exceptions are Liane who starts at and is locked to 65 and Ilmeria who stops increasing at 39. These will start to increase again when you are post-exam and have met up with Sophie again.

Two final notes, most character events occur in the Atelier in which case the event should occur if you either talk to the character, rest for any amount of time, perform a synthesis or exit and re-enter the Atelier. Some character events are also blocked by the event lines of other characters. I have listed the requirements to the best of my knowledge but there may be a few that are missing so if you find that an event isn't unlocking for you, try progressing the events of another character.

For details on specific character event lines and ending requirements see the following trophies for details:

You came up with a lot of recipes

Recipe ideas are similar to the ones in Atelier Sophie but this time, there isn't a book to show all available recipes. You will instead unlock recipes and recipe hints by taking various actions throughout the game such as completing quests, battling different monster types, using different item types and synthesizing items a certain amount of times. You can also learn some recipes by buying reference books from various merchants. Recipe hints can also be turned into the actual recipe by spending Idea Points which are obtained as quest rewards. For this trophy you need to unlock 67% of all available recipes, which is about 160 recipes. You can view your unlocked recipe percentage at the institutes in Flussheim, Weisslark or Reisenberg.

BATTLE TIPS

Party Composition:

I highly recommend having at least one other alchemist (Ilmeria, Sophie or Plachta) in your party so that you spam more Blitz Stones in your boss fights. Sophie has the best passive item skills (33% increase item power and reduce wait time) and Ilmeria has a 30% item power increase skill. Plachta has no item power skills but can still use Blitz Stones so could be used as an alchemist. Choose whoever you want for your other party members but I liked having Revy for his Blade Impulse stat down skill and kept Liane in for crowd control.

Leveling:

If you want to get some quick levels later in the game, then you can farm the Dragonaire in North Auoro Snowfield as it's weak to Blitz Stones so can be killed very quickly and earn you a good amount of exp. It will respawn every time you go back to the atelier so you can use the near by campsite to make it respawn. I suggest getting to around level 25 for fighting Sophie, and to around 40 for post-exam bosses.

General Strategy:

The general battle strategy for bosses is very simple. Just spam Blitz Stones (see the Synthesis Guide below) with your alchemists. This is literally all you need to do to beat all the trophy related bosses on Easy or Normal difficulty. To see my pre-exam equipment see the video at Master and apprentice battle (S)(H). For post-exam, see the video at The girl that knows the origin (G)(H).

SYNTHESIS GUIDE

BASICS

Synthesis in Atelier Firis is similar to Atelier Sophie in terms of the synthesis grid and different colored components values affecting effect values but there quite a few changes as well. I will briefly go over the different aspects of synthesis here.

Selecting Materials:

http://i.imgur.com/MoJOEms.png

Every item with effects will have effect frames that show the various effects available for that item. These are listed on the right e.g. for the Bomb in the above screenshot, there are four effect frames with the top one giving Fire Damage S. In order to add new effects to an item you will need to fill the stars in the effect frames, which can be done by filling the Component Level Charge Gauge. In the screenshot below, the 0/35 above the gauge indicates it will need a material with a component value of 35 to fill the gauge. If the material that fills the gauge is the same color as the effect frame, the effect will increase by 1.5 circles, otherwise it will increase by 0.5 circles. For example: If I select the Kaen Stone, it will fill the gauge once resulting in the red effect frames to fill by 1.5 and the blue ones to fill by 0.5:

http://i.imgur.com/HbnPBFr.png

Note that these are just expected values and the actually increases can be higher depending on how you place them in the synthesis grid, which I will be explaining next.

Synthesis Grid:

After selecting the materials, you will be asked to select a catalyst. Selecting a catalyst will change the bonus lines that are available in the grid:

http://i.imgur.com/WHoyGE8.png

Each grid will have some bonus lines which when filled will grant the bonus associated with the line which can be checked via :triangle:. Note that colored bonus lines must be filled by materials of the same color to activate their bonus. Wearing the Alchemist’s Dress will also unlock an additional bonus line for each catalyst. Another thing to note on the grid are the component bonuses. These bonuses will increase the component value of the any materials added by the displayed percentage. These percentages are equal to (the number of squares covered by a color)². For example: In the above screenshot, I added one Kaen Stone to the grid, which filled six squares in it, resulting in a 6² = 36% bonus for red materials. Adding a second Kaen Stone with this bonus would add 61 to the component gauge and fill it twice (noted by the +61 and +2).

Item Proficiency:

Every time you synthesize an item, you will gain proficiency experience for that item and all related items e.g. synthesizing Neutralizer R will increase your proficiency for Neutralizer B, Y, and G as well. Each time you level up an item's proficiency you gain various abilities when synthesizing the item, such as transferring traits, increasing craft count, rotating materials in the grid and increasing quality. Proficiency levels go from Bronze → Silver → Gold → Platinum, with each level enhancing the abilities when synthesizing the item. You can increase the amount of proficiency experience you gain per synthesis by buying an Instrument Set from Tiana or a Precision Instrument Set from Mea and setting it in your atelier via atelier making.

Transferring Traits:

There are two ways to transfer traits: item proficiency, and bonus lines from catalysts. Increasing item proficiency to silver will generally allow you to transfer one trait and higher proficiencies will usually allow you to transfer more though this varies per item. Catalysts are the other way to transfer traits, with the General Catalyst having a +1 trait transfer bonus line and various other catalysts such as Wool having +1 or +2 trait transfer bonuses. Wearing the Alchemist’s Dress will unlock a Trait Transfer +1 line for the default no catalyst grid and can also unlock similar transfer lines on other catalysts.

ITEMS AND EQUIPMENT

In this section I will cover creating a 999 quality distilled water and the attack items and equipment that are recommended for easily beating all trophy related bosses on normal or easy difficulty (harder difficulties may require better equipment than what I list here). Note that you will need the Alchemist's Dress in order to move some traits around so don't start synthesizing these until you have that costume.

Distilled Water:

In order to synthesize a 999 quality Distilled Water, you’ll need to be in Flussheim and have the Alchemist’s Dress unlocked.

Step 1: Buy materials

  • Go the Bird of Summer shop on the bridge in Flussheim and buy the Wheat Flour with the Quality Up ++ trait, plus the Wheat Flour with the Pro Perfection trait.

  • Now go to Mea’s Shop and buy the Pretty Shell with the Well Made trait. If you have a lot of cole go ahead and buy the Precision Instrument Set too. Now go back to the atelier

Step 2: Synthesis

  • Set up the Precision Instrument Set in your atelier if you bought it and put on the Alchemist’s Dress

  • Synthesize some Distilled Water using any materials until you’ve reached silver proficiency. If you need more Cloth material and don’t want to synthesize it, you can buy some Handwoven Cloth from Luis or some Cloth/Moffcot from Logy.

  • Synthesize some Zettel if you don't have any.

  • Synthesize a Liquid Catalyst for each of the materials you bought in step one, using the Transfer Trait +1 bonus line to transfer the quality trait onto the Liquid Catalyst. You should now have nine Liquid Catalysts (assuming bronze proficiency), three with Quality Up ++, three with Pro Perfection, and three with Well Made.

  • Synthesize a Distilled Water using one of each the Liquid Catalysts as the water materials (one Quality Up++, one Pro Perfection, one Well Made), and anything for the other materials. Use no catalyst, fill in the Trait Transfer +1 line, and transfer the Super Quality and Quality Up ++ traits

  • Synthesize another Distilled Water using a Liquid Catalyst with Pro Perfection and two of the Distilled Waters you just made. Use a Zettel as the catalyst and fill in its Trait Transfer +2 line. Transfer the Super Quality, Pro Perfection, and Quality Up ++ traits.

  • Synthesize another Distilled Water using three of the ones you just made. Use Zettel as the catalyst and transfer the Super Quality, Pro Perfection, and Quality Up++ traits. Repeat this until quality has hit 999 (likely take around 5-6 repeats)

Congrats, you've now got a 999 quality Distilled Water! Note that whenever you are down to three of them you should use them to synthesize another batch of waters.

Blitz Stone (AKA the only attack item you will ever need):

The Blitz Stone will be the only attack item you ever need as all boss fights can be easily beaten by just spamming them. The benefit of the Blitz Stone is that it has a Numbing effect which knocks back the enemy's turn. Combining this with the passive skills of most alchemists to increase item power and reduce item wait time, will allow you to repeatedly use Blitz Stones until they are beaten while only giving them one or two turns to attack you.

Step 1: Unlock the Recipe

To unlock the Blitz Stone recipe, you will need to have collected a Tamahagane (which is gatherable in the Claudel Prairie in the Bridge Crossing Cave) and by using Lightning Bombs about 15-20 times. If you don't have the Lightning Bomb recipe, then you need to gather a Raiden Ore which is gatherable in Claudel Prairie (outside, not in caves) and use a Bomb around 5-10 times.

Step 2: Gathering Materials and Traits

  • Gather Tamahagane from the Bridge Crossing Cave in Claudel Prairie. You want around 12-15 total. Also check that their component values are low. You want them to be around 30-35 or lower.

  • Obtain some Ripple Stones either by gathering in places like Quiet Forest or White Fog Forest or buying them from the Braustbrum shop in Flussheim to the left of the Institute

  • Check inventory for items that have the traits Ultimate Destruction and Single Bonus. You can alternative create Ultimate Destruction by combining Big Destruction and Intense Destruction. Single Bonus will need to be obtained via gather materials. All traits can be found on materials in caves in Claudel Prairie but it may be easier to find them on maps closer to Reisenberg. If you don't want to spend too much time searching for these now, you could hold off on making the Blitz Stone until you reach Reisenberg by which time you will hopefully have an item with the traits.

Step 3: Synthesis

  • Move the Ultimate Destruction and Single Bonus traits onto a single Neutralizer B. The route to doing this will depend on what items your traits are on, but generally you can move each trait onto via the route: Neutralizer (Any) → Pure Oil → Neutralizer B. Use catalysts where appropriate to move the traits around and use some of the 999 Distilled Waters to increase the quality of the final Neutralizer B.

  • Create a high quality Iron Sand Catalyst by moving some of the quality traits on the 999 Distilled Water via this route: Distilled Water → Neutralizer (Any) → Iron Sand Catalyst. You can use the created Iron Sand Catalyst as the metal material to create another higher quality Iron Sand Catalyst if you want a higher quality Blitz Stone.

  • Synthesize the Blitz Stone using the three Tamahagane (choose ones that have lower component values ~30), two Iron Sand Catalysts and the Neutralizer B. Use the Ripple Stone as the catalyst and fill in both the Number Made +1 and Trait Transfer +2 bonus lines, while adding the materials in this order: Iron Sand Catalyst x2 (overlap them to reduce bonus) → Tamahagane x3 → Neutralizer B. Make sure the top two effects are Lightning Damage XL and Numbing (Bottom 2 don’t matter). You may need to play around with the order or overlap some materials to prevent the bonus gauge from going too high. Here’s an example of a filled Blitz Stone grid with the right effects:

    http://i.imgur.com/DD0RuzV.png

  • Repeat to synthesize a couple more (6 or 8 total should be sufficient). If you reach silver proficiency then you will be able to carry over a third trait, in which case I recommend a wait time reduction trait like Accustoms Quickly or Light.

Lightning Crystal (Alternative to Blitz Stone for New Game Plus):

If you’re planning to beat Sophie on a new game plus, you’ll need to create a Lightning Crystal as an alternative to the Blitz Stone, as you can’t carry over the Blitz Stone via Atelier Making. You can give the Lightning Crystal the same traits as your Blitz Stone and with better effects which should result in an even easier battle against her.

Step 1: Synth Prep

First you’ll need to unlock the Lightning Crystal recipe. The recipe will unlock if you keep using Lightning Bombs in battle and should unlock before or around the same time as the Blitz Stone recipe. In terms of materials you’ll want some Crystal Shards with yellow component values (Gatherable in White Fog Forest or Auoro Snowfield), and the Tamahagane used for the Blitz Stones.

Step 2: Synthesis

  • Create an Iron Sand Catalyst using the Neutralizer B with the Ultimate Destruction and Single Bonus traits you created for the Blitz Stone to transfer the two traits. Try to increase the quality by using a high quality Iron Sand Catalyst as the metal, and make sure the yellow effect is NOT filled (final component value should be 20 Green)

  • Create two high quality Core Crystals (see Gunade Ring - Others synthesis below). You can use a Neutralizer W as the catalyst to get the Number Made +2 bonus line if you want to make these in one go.

  • Synthesize the Lightning Crystal using two Crystal Shard (choose ones with yellow component values), one Tamahagane (yellow component value), the two core crystals, and the Iron Sand Catalyst. Use the Ripple Stone as the catalyst and fill in both the Number Made +1 and Trait Transfer +2 bonus lines, while adding the materials in this order: Iron Sand Catalyst → Crystal Shard x2 → Tamahagane → Core Crystal x2. Make sure the top two effects are Hammer of God and Numbing. Here’s an example of a filled Lightning Crystal grid with the right effects:

    http://i.imgur.com/3aiYshP.jpg

  • If you want you, synthesize some more to reach silver proficiency and carry over a third trait, in which case I recommend a wait time reduction trait like Accustoms Quickly or Light.

Ertona Salve (Optional Healing Item):

Really not needed but if you have some time left over and wanted a healing item just in case for your fight against Sophie, then you can create an Ertona Salve with an Automatic Activation 50% effect.

Step 1: Gathering Material and Traits

The materials you want are:

  • One plant with green component >= 40, and one plant with yellow component >= 40

  • Mineral Oil with yellow component >= 30 (Gather in Lebenwald)

  • Two waters that have a combined green component >= 85 (Gather Crackling Water from Claudel Prairie or Lebenwald)

  • Golden Tree Leaf with yellow component >= 55 (Gather in Traveler’s Grove)

The recommended trait for this is Single Bonus (see Blitz Stone for trait details).

Step 2: Synthesis

  • Create a Zettel with the Single Bonus trait and make sure it has the Plant Fiber effect

  • Synthesize a No-Doc using the two plant ingredients, the zettel, and two 999 distilled waters ingredients. It should have the effects Individually Wrapped (green) and Rounded Corners (yellow). Other effects don't matter.

  • Synthesize the Ertona Salve using the No-Doc, the mineral oil, the two waters, and the golden tree leaf. Use another Golden Tree Leaf as the catalyst. You’ll want to fill in the Effect Level +2 Yellow and Trait Transfer +1 bonus lines. You can also try to fill the Use Count +2 line if you can. You will need to make some manual adjustments to get the right effects. Basically you want it so that the gauge fills once when you add the Mineral Oil, and when you add the Golden Tree Leaf it should fill twice. In my case I added Water 1 → Mineral Oil → Golden Tree Leaf → Water 2 → No-Doc:

BATTLE EQUIPMENT

For battle equipment, you are going to want them all to have the Well-Rounded Power and All Stat Super traits. You will hopefully already have some materials with those traits but you can also create them by combining All Stat Enhance and All Stat Boost for All Stat Super and combining All Stat Boost and All Stat Super for Well-Rounded Power.

Gunade Ring:

You will want to create Gunade Rings with different effects for your alchemists and your other party members:

Alchemists

  • Move your All Stat Super and Well-Rounded Power traits onto a Core Crystal. You can do this by move one onto a Pure Oil via any Neutralizer, and moving the other to an Iron Sand Catalyst also via any Neutralizer. Use the Pure Oil, Iron Sand Catalyst, and a 999 Distilled Water to create the Core Crystal, using a Neutralizer G or W as the catalyst to transfer traits. Make sure all effects are maxed to give a resulting component of 75 Yellow.

  • Gather a Blue Steel Stone with a blue component >=45 (Gather in Parched Plains or Quiet Forest) and a Silver Web with a Blue and Green component = 30 (Gather in Lebenwald).

  • Synthesize high quality Iron Sand Catalyst with the yellow effect maxed. Resulting component value should 40 Yellow and Green.

  • Synthesize the Gunade Ring using the Core Crystal and Blue Steel Stone for the gems, two of the Iron Sand Catalysts for the metal, and the Silver Web as the thread. Use a Ripple Stone as the catalyst and fill in the Number Made +1 and Trait Transfer +2 lines. Add the materials in this order: Core Crystal → Iron Sand Catalyst x2 → Silver Web → Blue Steel Stone. The resulting effects should be Power Rune, Guardian Rune, Swift Gale Rune and Tool Rune (Tool Rune is the most important):

    http://i.imgur.com/h2BQ7h9.png

Others

  • You will need the Core Crystal you made for the Alchemists. You should have one left over from the previous synthesis.

  • Create a high quality Core Crystal, by making high quality Iron Sand Catalysts and Pure Oil via the Distilled Water → Neutralizer route to transfer quality traits. Use them and a Distilled Water to create a high quality Core Crystal. Make sure effects are maxed to have a resulting 75 yellow component

  • Synthesize a high quality Ingot by the route Distilled Water → Neutralizer → Pure Oil → Ingot. Make sure the effects are maxed to give a resulting 80 red component.

  • Obtain a Wool with a red component value >= 30 (Buy from Lilie Laurier shop in Flussheim to the right of the Institute)

  • Synthesize the Gunade Ring using the Core Crystal with the traits and the high quality Core Crystal for the gems, two of the Ingots for the metal, and the Wool as the thread. Use a Ripple Stone as the catalyst and fill in the Number Made +1 and Trait Transfer +2 lines. Add the materials in this order: Core Crystal x2 → Ingot x2 → Wool. The resulting effects should be Rune of Criticality, Guardian Rune, Speed Rune and Weapon Rune

    http://i.imgur.com/vAJSshZ.png

You may need to pick materials with bigger sizes if you dont get these effects.

Knuckle Guard:

For the Knuckle Guard, the effects don’t matter too much though the yellow effect frame’s Weakness Hunter and Weakness Sniper effects can be useful. Just move the Well-Rounded Power and All Stat Super traits from the Neutralizer you made for the Gunade Ring to a Hand-Woven Cloth via Neutralizer → Leather → Handwoven Cloth, using Zettel or Wool as the catalyst. Now use any three Aizen Ores, a high quality Iron Sand Catalyst, the Handwoven Cloth you just made and any thread. Use a Zettel as the catalyst for the Trait Transfer +2 bonus line and get the effects as high as you can.

Weapons:

For weapons, a tier one primary weapon with the usual traits will be enough for each of you active party members. For most weapons you can use an Ingot to transfer the traits via: Neutralizer → Pure Oil → Ingot. For the Sunny Bird Staff, you can use a Core Crystal to transfer the traits (see Gunade Ring to see how to synthesize it). Here’s a chart of tier 1 weapons and the materials and catalysts to use to transfer the traits:

Try to use high quality items like your Iron Sand Catalyst, Distilled Water, or Neutralizers to increase the quality of your weapons. If you want, you also create sub weapons with the same traits, but it really isn’t necessary for beating the trophy bosses.

Armor:

For armor I used the Nightshade armor which can be unlocked by defeating 3 Lichs, which can be found in White Fog Forest. Use two Black Sand, two Black Tree Stones, the Handwoven Cloth with the transferred traits (see Knuckle Guard) and any thread. Use a Ripple Stone as the catalyst and fill the Number Made +1 and Trait Transfer +2 traits to reduce the number of times you need to synthesize it.

Thanks for the guide, I just have a few questions not related to the trophies.

-how many playable characters are there in the game ?

-can you list the names of the final tier weapons ?

Thanks in advance.

Including Firis there are 10 available party members (Firis, Liane, Revy, Drossel, Oskar, Kald, Angriff, Ilmeria, Sophie, and Plachta). There's also 2 DLC members (Heinz and Shannon) who will have their own events and endings (no trophies though).

Top tier weapons are:

Sophie: Blessing Staff

Firis: Endless Quest Staff

Liane: Sternbogen

Ilmeria: Weber's Rod

Drossel: Earth Splitter Carolina

Revy: Demonblade Valdberg

Kald: Radiant Weise

Angriff: Dragon Destroyer

Oskar: Mistral Bringer

Plachta: Bright Night

Not sure what the weapons for the DLC characters are as I havent downloaded them yet.

Luis' quest line doesn't seem to be working for me. I've spent a bunch of money but she won't appear in the hot springs area. Any ideas? Is there some other quest line I have to do first?

Edit: Whelp, I just went and bought her completely out of several categories and she gave me the event about writing a song about Firis. Never did the hot spring one but w/e.

About to set out here but got a question about the Exam. Specifically about the 999 Distilled Water that grants an instant exam pass.

So, must it be created DURING the exam ( with it’s one minute time restraint ) or can it be created BEFORE the exam and simply possessing it will grant the pass? (been seeing mixed messages about this)

If it must synthesized during the exam can I simply developed it before hand up to the point where a single alchemist pass is all that is needed to complete the 999 Distilled Water?

It must be created during the exam. The thing with the distilled waters is that you can use it as a material for itself, so if you create a batch of 999 quality ones before the exam, you can use those to easily create another 999 quality distilled water during the exam.

Nice guide! For some reason, with the instruction you listed, I have problems maxing out the blitz stone with ~30 component value Tamagahane. I try rearranging it while also going in the order you recommended, but the furthest I can reach is Lightning Damage L and A Little Numbing.

What are the sizes like on the Tamahagane?

Also do your Iron Sand Catalysts have a Yellow/Green component value of 40?

for some reason i cant place the blitz stones in the atelier making, trying to use them for new game plus :(

Hm, looks like there was some misinformation floating around other forums about this. Only certain attack items can be placed in the atelier and unfortunately the Blitz Stone is not one of them. As an alternative, you can make a Lightning Crystal with the same traits and even better effects which can be placed in the atelier. I'll add some synth steps for making a Lightning Crystal to the guide and make a note of this.

EDIT: I've added the steps for making a Lightning Crystal. Hopefully shouldn't be too much more work since you can reuse a lot of the materials you needed to make the other equipment/items.

  • 1 month later...

I'm having a lot of trouble with the trophy "Traditional Dance" and it seems nobody else on the internet is having it. I beat the monster and got the "Deep Dark Water" trophy. Then I went and talked to Ren just fine, then she visits the atelier and gives me her book.

According to the guide the next thing that I should do is talk to Kai on Shanty Street. But every time I do that, no matter what time of day, he just asks if I'm ready to go and I can't trigger the event.

Is there something that I'm missing? I even loaded up an old save and spent several hours redoing it all and I get stuck in the same place. After getting the book I simply can't trigger the kai event. Could anybody please provide some guidance?

Edit: I figured it out. You absolutely HAVE to complete Liane's questline to get kai to talk to you. The second I got that done I was able to get the cutscene. I think the reason people aren't having trouble is because they follow the guide step by step and take care of Liane's quest right away. Also, Ilmeria wasn't able to progress past sending out the letter (she didn't get a response) until after finishing Liane's quest either. So to anybody reading this, be sure to get Liane's stuff out of the way ASAP.

I recommend doing Meklet and Atomina's first, followed by Liane, and then the rest should all be fine (do Sophie's as you go or right before/after Liane's).
