Virginia is a single-player first-person thriller set in a small town with a secret. Experience a missing person’s investigation through the eyes of graduate FBI agent Anne Tarver.

The game breathes the atmosphere of series like The X-Files and Twin Peaks. Its story is entirely conveyed through its visuals and soundtrack, as there is no dialogue at all. The gameplay itself is fairly simplistic, having you walk around and interact with the few things per scene you can. The developers cite Thirty Flights of Loving as heavily inspiring the creation process, though one could also see connections to games like Gone Home and Dear Esther.

The game consists of 42 chapters, all just a few minutes long. A single playthrough will be around 1.5-2 hours. You will need to play through twice to unlock the platinum trophy.

Oq7bvDZ.jpg

Step 1: Play through the story at your leisure

One of the trophies (Doam) requires you to play through the game a second time, so use your first playthrough to go through the story at your own pace. Just make sure to not use Chapter Select in your first playthrough, and watch the credits through until the very end.

Upon completing this step, you will have earned at least the following:

  • Red Night (S)
  • Ariadne (S) Missable

Step 2: Second playthrough: Collectibles and Miscellaneous Cleanup

Now that you have finished the story, it's time to clear out the rest of the trophies. Most of these trophies consist off picking up items and looking at their effects at a later point in the game. An important thing to note is that you can not use Chapter Select, other than to start a new story. Collectibles and prerequisites for other trophies do not carry over when you use Chapter Select.

The trophies are listed by the earliest point you can unlock them. Trophies that need interaction at an earlier point in the game have the chapters where these actions are required added to them in brackets. So Ganesha can be unlocked at Chapter 20, but also requires an action in chapter 16. Note that, in case Lemon and Toet are missed at their first opportunity, they can also be unlocked in chapter 37.

Upon completing this step, you will have earned the following:

  • Aleph (B) Chapter 3
  • Flea (S) Chapter 5 (4)
  • Beatrice (S) Missable Chapter 8 (Collectibles)
  • Madam (B) Chapter 10
  • Meda (S) Missable Chapter 11 (6)
  • Mausoleum (S) Missable Chapter 11 (Collectibles)
  • Iris (G) Missable Chapter 17 (6)
  • Ganesha (G) Missable Chapter 20 (16)
  • Lemon (G) Missable Chapter 21 (16)
  • Toet (G) Missable Chapter 28 (4)
  • Dead Road (G) Missable Chapter 30 (11)
  • Paris (G) Missable Chapter 30 (Collectibles)
  • Fever (G) Missable Chapter 30 (Collectibles)
  • Benway (G) Missable Chapter 37 (10)
  • Doam (G) Missable after credits
  • Virginia (P)

Ms. Paul didn't get to be PA to the AD by making a spectacle of herself

Missable

After you get your assignment by the DA, you will enter a hallway. In this hallway will be a red chair with glasses on it. Pick up the glasses. At a later point in the game you will have to look at Ms. Paul. This can first be done in Chapter 28 (Evidence) where you'll find yourself waiting to enter the DA's office. Quickly look to the left and point over Ms. Paul's glasses, before the scene auto advances.

If you missed this, a later scene will occur near the end of the game, where you have dinner with Ms. Paul. To progress through the game, don't eat your peas. Before that, however, look at her glasses first. In case you forgot to pick up the glasses and just want to go for this trophy, you'll have to play at least from Chapter 4 (First Day) to Chapter 28 (Evidence).

Susan's checked between the booths and under the counter, but where she left it is anyone's guess

Missable

Once you arrive at the roadhouse, interact with Halperin and move to the next room. In the bar, there will lay a white-red towel on the right, next to the entrance. Pick it up. At a later point in the game you'll have to look at Susan, who works at the diner, wearing the towel as a bandana. You might miss looking at here, but near the end will be a scene in the diner where you have full control.

If you haven't unlocked it by that point, don't interact with the baby, instead keep looking at Susan's bandana until the trophy unlocks. In case you forgot to pick up the towel and just want to go for this trophy, you'll have to play at least from Chapter 18 (Roadhouse) to Chapter 21 (Photograph).

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/4937/afd.jpg Iris (G)

Do what you can for Edith Fairfax. A little kindness goes a long way.

Missable

At your first visit to the Fairfax house, go to the bedroom of the parents (the first door you encounter). To the right of one of the beds will be a bin. Inside the bin is a letter. Pick it up. At a later point in the story, you and Halperin will break-in to the house. In the kitchen will be a letter. Once you picked this up the trophy will unlock.

In case you forgot to pick up the letter and just want to go for this trophy, you'll have to play at least from Chapter 6 (Kingdom) to Chapter 17 (Breaking in).

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/4937/95a.jpg Ganesha (G)

Orbed is the moon and bright, and the stars they glisten, glisten

Missable

For this trophy you have to pick two pins: one a sun, the other a moon. Your first pin can be found when you are at the observatory with Halperin. It will be at the opposite of the entrance, close to the wall. Make sure to not interact with the staircase before picking up this pin. The next pin can be found after you leave the interrogation room, in the hallway, next to a fire extinguisher. Make sure to not interact with the door of the interrogation room where Halperin is before picking up this pin.

In case you forgot to pick up on of the pins and just want to go for this trophy, you'll have to play at least from Chapter 16 (Mayor) to Chapter 20 (Dead End).

After you have bagged some evidence, you will come home. Immediately when entering the apartment, look down. There will be a flyer. Pick it up. At a later point in the story there will be someone buzzing at the door. During this time, take a look at train on the table in your room and the trophy will unlock.

In case you forgot to pick up the flyer and just want to go for this trophy, you'll have to play at least from Chapter 11 (Unwelcome) to Chapter 30 (Last Day).

The true ship is the ship-builder

Missable

When you are at the morgue, in the back will be a wood-carved object. Interact with it to pick it up. At a later point in the story, once you are building the small ship, it will unlock the trophy. In case you forgot to pick up the woodcarving and just want to go for this trophy, you'll have to play at least from Chapter 10 (Clubhouse) to Chapter 37 (Images Pt 1).

When entering the apartment, look for an open drawer in the kitchen, it will be filled with sugar packets. After inspecting the drawer, the trophy will unlock.

In case you forgot to pick up even one feather and just want to go for this trophy, you'll have to play at least from Chapter 6 (Kingdom) to Chapter 11 (Unwelcome).

A bird of the air shall carry the voice, and that which hath wings shall tell the matter

Missable

Unlocks once you collect all ten feathers in the game and look at the feather board in your apartment. Note that you can't unlock this using Chapter Select; all of the feathers must be collected in a single run. The chapters below are only given for information on where in the story a feather can be found. All feathers will be laying on the ground. Once there is someone buzzing at your door, take a look at the feather board, located in your bedroom.

In case you forgot to pick up even one feather and just want to go for this trophy, you'll have to play at least from Chapter 4 (First Day) to Chapter 30 (Last Day).

Locations of all the feathers:

1. Once the scene moves from a hallway to a staircase, look down(4. First Day)

2. In the Fairfax's bathroom (6. Kingdom)

3. On Tuesday, once you have been in the elevator with a military person, don't interact with Halperin's door. Instead backtrack to the hallway and the feather will next to some boxes. (?)

4. The morgue in far, right corner (10. Clubhouse)

5. In the Fairfax backroom, immediately to the left of entering the room (17. Breaking in)

6. At the entry of the roadhouse look down (18. Roadhouse)

7. In the first room down the stairs at Halperin's house (19. Fourth Day)

8. In the room where father Fairfax is interrogated, directly behind you (20. Dead End)

9. In the elevator to Halperin's apartment, don't exit the elevator before picking up the feather (27. Apartment)

10. Once you have climbed up the water tower (29. Water Tower)

To me the meanest flower that blows can give, thoughts that do often lie too deep for tears

Missable

Unlocks once you collect all ten flowers in the game and look all the vases in your apartment. Note that you can't unlock this using Chapter Select, all of the flowers must be collected in a single run. The chapters below are only given for information on where in the story a flower can be found. Once there is someone buzzing at your door, take a look at one of the all the vases in your apartment.

There are two vases in the windowsill of your bedroom. If the trophy doesn't immediately pop, keep looking for the other vases around your apartment, they should all be easily visible, bar the one in the bathroom. In case you forgot to pick up even one flower and just want to go for this trophy, you'll have to play at least from Chapter 10 (Clubhouse) to Chapter 30 (Last Day).

Location of all the flowers:

1. There are three flowers located in the beginning area of (10. Clubhouse) (One down, right from the start, one at the far right tree, one next to the stones in front of the cave entrance)

2. One in the observatory, left from the entrance (16. Mayor)

3. Again 3 flowers in the first area of the clubhouse (25. Fifth day) (one immediately down from the start, don't walk of the stones or you'll miss it, one next to the right hand wall, one in the far left corner at the fence).

4. There are also 3 flowers in the next chapter (26. Lost Property) (one after falling down, one after exiting the tunnel, when you reach the field directly to your left and the last one is behind the stones).

Thank you

Missable

Awarded when you have finished your first playthrough, after the credits. You should not use Chapter Select to skip ahead. If you have done this, it can only be gotten by starting an entire new playthrough. This might not unlock if you skip the credits or exit the game before they have ended.

Bis!

Missable

You will have to complete the entire story a second time. Simply start a new playthrough, or select Chapter 1 in Chapter Select and play through the entire game. Make sure to not use Chapter Select during your playthrough. Will be awarded after the credits.

A couple of notes:

  1. Meda's unlock requirement should not be for looking at that flyer, so it's interesting you can unlock it that way. It should be for looking at the drawer full of sugar packets (as long as you picked up one from the diner) in your apartment kitchen as the trophy description implies.
  2. The dead flower for the Fever trophy shouldn't be required as you yourself pointed out it can't be interacted with (there are other, living flowers later on that can't be interacted with in the padlocked room in Halperin's apartment and those don't matter either).
  3. Someone reported they didn't get Ariadne upon completing the game (this is for the Xbox One version), but the same hasn't been reported for the PS4 version yet. Might be worth looking into if it does get reported.

Hmmm, I don't know whether the credits can be skipped on Xbox one, but I haven't found a way to skip them on PS4, will add that to the guide. I'll edit the other two.

Found the culprit. Seems like aridame is for a full playthrough and Red Night is for the credits.

It's best to make video a hyperlink instead of embedding it into the Roadmap. :)

You need to label which trophies are Missable.

Edited accordingly, collectibles and multistage trophies are now labeled in both guide and roadmap. I've clarified in the guide which trophies are available through chapter select and since most chapters are so short, I did not label them missable.

Also edited the missable trophys, to show the minimal playthrough lenght, in order to get said trophy.

I picked up the glasses from the chair, toet never popped for me by the end of the game. Unless the person I'm supposed to look at, I didn't..but the guide says the scene with her is unmissable. Man, a third play through is painful for that one trophy, lol.

EDIT-Make sure to look at her at her desk when you are waiting to turn the files in. It doesn't pop if you look at her toward the very end on the couch..just a heads up. I would edit the guide to reflect this. Fantastic guide, it helped a lot!

So, the trophy popped for you when you looked at her while waiting to turn the files in? The unmissable scene the guide refers to is the one where you're eating dinner with her (the camera is automatically pointed down, so you have to look up to see her face with the glasses on), not the one where she is comforting the AD on the couch.

I can confirm Toet unlocks as early as that. See the screenshot. Maybe the game gives you a second chance during the dinner scene.

I edited the explanation for Toet, to explain in which sequences the trophy can be unlocked. Also listed way to not advance the scene. Bucket has confirmed in another thread the trophy can also be achieved in the dinner scene.

I'll add pictures for the flower locations and either pictures or a video for the feather locations. But those will most likely not be up until next week.

Doam isn't missable if you really need to complete the game's Story twice in order for it to unlock.

Edit: Unless, I'm missing something because your current description for it doesn't mention not skipping the credits.

That is interesting. How long did you look at her during that scene? I looked at her during that same scene and didn't get the trophy until the dinner scene myself. Then again, I may have done one of those sideways glances where her face wasn't fully in-frame. Either way, good to have confirmation that it has multiple chances to be triggered ^^

I moved the reticle towards her face as soon as the scene began and kept focusing until the very end. It unlocked right before it transitioned to the next scene.

On a side note i guess that means Lemon may also be unlockable as early as you get to the diner after picking up the bandana in the bar, because the waitress will be wearing it from then on out.

This is correct.

Reason I thought Toet was unmissable after you have picked up the glasses was because I remembered the dinner scene started you off looking at her, but the camera is slightly off. And you have to look specifically at her glasses, with the cursor.

Doam isn't missable if you really need to complete the game's Story twice in order for it to unlock.

Edit: Unless, I'm missing something because your current description for it doesn't mention not skipping the credits.

Reason I listed it as missabble is that you can't use chapter select. So if you think about skipping the credita intro because there is no gameplay, you will not unlock it (I know because I did it). Likewise you can't use chapter select to go replay a chapter if you missed something and continue playing from there. It has to be one straight playthrough from intro credits to end credits. You may however exit the game and use the resume feature.

Yep..mine popped when I looked at her when waiting to turn the files in. I grabbed the glasses on my second play through, then played through the rest of the game without stopping or using chapter select, and the trophy didn't pop. My third play through I grabbed the glasses and it popped when I looked at her when I was waiting to turn the files in. Strange, I don't recall a scene eating with her.

Edit-Ohhh, the pea eating scene! Now I remember it..is that bad that in three play throughs I didn't realize that was her? Lol!

You should add that info into your current description as it tells people everything about why it's missable.
