Melee weapons.

What do people find the best. Baseball bat or spade (& standard cricket bat) are what I have currently. But with limited back pack space don't want to carry them all.

Since I picked up the baseball bat with the nails it is the only melee weapon I use,just a pity you can't drop or store the cricket bat.

Gotta say I was pretty upset when I found out you could get rid of it. What possible reason do I have to ever use that again after getting the spade or baseball bat? Space is an absolute premium and it really frustrates me when I have to pass on ammo or a molotov because of that stupid stick of wood.

I use the Spade and only carry a handgun, without extra bullets, or the crossbow and one medkit. You don't need to carry anything else with you when exploring new areas because you'll need space to scavenge.

 

The gun is for explosives/traps. The crossbow is for taking out difficult enemies quietly.

Cricket bat and go for the head, works like a charm. Need me some spaacee!

Simpe, it's part of your basic survival kit so when you die you'll still have the cricket bat and hand gun to get to the part where you died.

 

Also, you could simply stick with the cricket bat and don't pick up the spade or baseball bat at all. Just go for the head, even with the melee weapons, and the zombi's will go down in no time. If you hit the body you could be looking at 3-7 blows, even with the spade and baseball bat, so might as well stick with the cricket bat for the sake of backpack space.

I swappe the shovel out for the nailed bat when I got it and used that as my sole melee weapon, usually one hit kills

 

Cricket bat just takes up space in the BOB.

Out of the 3 melee weapons my favourite was the spade.

I think it is less powerful than the spiked bat but it seemed to have better range and crowd clearance, saying that though i found myself using the spiked bat more and sometimes even having to use the cricket bat if i needed the room in the BOB.

Would have quite happily ditched the cricket bat permanently for either the spade or spiked bat though if you could as it is obviously inferior to both.
