Roadmap: Overview: Estimated trophy difficulty: 3/10 (Platinum Difficulty Rating) Offline trophies: 25 (10(B), 6(S), 8(G), 1(P)) Online trophies: 0 Approximate amount of time to platinum: 5-7 hours (Estimated Time to Platinum) Minimum number of playthroughs: 1 + level select Number of missable trophies: 0 (level select is available) Glitched trophies: 0 with patch 1.01 installed Does difficulty affect trophies?: No Do trophies stack?: N/A Do cheat codes disable trophies?: N/A Introduction: Volume is an indie stealth-based game developed by Mike Bithell who brought us the memorable title Thomas Was Alone. The game is heavily inspired inspired by Metal Gear Solid and you will notice many similarities in its gameplay style. With a top-down, third person play style, you play as Alan and have to avoid detection from guards as you make your way through the level collecting gems in order to activate the exit. The game consists of a 100 core-levels as well as a level editor mode allowing you to create and share levels online. The gameplay is predominantly stealth focused, with a small amount of combat through the use of a number of different gadgets that can be used to distract or temporarily stun guards allowing you to pass by unnoticed. The trophy list is straightforward for Volume. You will need to play and complete all 100 core levels in the game. All levels are fairly straight forward and don’t require much skill to complete and only take a few minutes at most to complete. The vast majority of trophies relate to using the gadgets found in the game a certain number of times, as well as reading all Texts within the levels. This trophy can prove frustrating as you cannot track your progress towards which Texts you have read so you will need to be thorough in your search in each level. Glitch Warning: Update 9th September 2015: The Q trophy has been fixed with the latest patch (1.01). If you have used all gadgets before this patch then install the patch and simply play any level and use any gadget and the trophy will unlock. If you are playing the game after installing the patch from the beginning then you will unlock the trophy once you have used all gadgets (refer to Q for more details). If you're playing without having patch 1.01 installed then the Q trophy will remained glitched. Edited September 21, 2015 by dcollins22
mullinavat
Walkthrough: Step 1: Playthrough all 100 core levels and read 100% of texts For this step you will play through all 100 core levels in the game. The majority are quick and easy and only take a minute or two to complete. During this step you will also want to read all texts within the core levels. These cannot be tracked so be thorough with your search and make sure you enter checkpoints after you collect them to save progress in case you die. You will also encounter and use every gadget in the game and there are a number of trophies related to using these a certain number of times. Most of these will come naturally, but feel free to grind them out straight away otherwise we will clean them up in Step 2 quite quickly and easily. At the end of this step you will have unlocked the following trophies: The First Ballard Semi Final The Darkest Couple of Hours The Complete Works Imperial March Long Walk to Freedom Warming Up Light Reading Illuminated Manuscripts Compiled Texts Lord of the Things Rogue Unlike Step 2: Gadget and trophy clean up During this step you will obtain all gadget related trophies and clean up any other remaining trophies. A lot of gadget trophies would have likely unlocked during Step 1, however there are a number that may not have, so now is the time to finish these off. Depending on your skill during Step 1 you will replay levels to die a total of 200 times for the Arcade Fynn trophy and be spotted by enemies 300 times for the Always the Taffer trophy. If you missed any texts you will need to replay the levels to collect them all again. The problem is, at this present time, you cannot track your progress towards Texts and you won't know which levels to replay, so you will have to start from the beginning again. At the end of this step you will have unlocked the following trophies: Hidden in the shadow of Moses Leaps of faith Because it’ll hurt more Always the taffer Arcade Fynn Wearing Lincoln Green Be Heard Enjoy your trip If it bleeds… Ghost from the… Agent 48 Q The Platinum Arrow Edited September 21, 2015 by luffybuggy Editorial Sweep
dcollins22
Trophy Guide: http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2351/5ab.jpg The Platinum Arrow Gain all trophies in Volume http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2351/af3.jpg The First Ballad Complete 25 core levels Story related cannot be missed. You will unlock this trophy once you complete core level 25: The Battering Ram. http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2351/845.jpg Semi Final Complete 50 core levels Story related, cannot be missed. You will unlock this trophy once you complete core level level 50: The Collection http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2351/678.jpg The Darkest Couple of Hours Complete 75 core levels Story related, cannot be missed. You will unlock this trophy after you complete core level 75: Everybody Pays. http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2351/6f2.jpg The Complete Works Complete all core levels Story related, cannot be missed. In total there are 100 core levels that you must complete to unlock this trophy. In order to complete a level you must collect all white diamonds which will subsequently open the exit/finish point of the level. The levels don't necessarily get harder or longer as you progress. The only changes you will see are different enemies, level design and access to different gadgets. Throughout each level are checkpoints which will save your progress if you get killed by an enemy. Although all levels are relatively easy to complete, below are some general tips which will help you complete each level. Learn the movement patterns of enemies in each level. This will be critical in avoiding being detected and killed by enemies. Utilize the checkpoints as much as possible throughout each level. If you get spotted by an enemy you can run through a checkpoint and even if they kill you, you will restart from that checkpoint. Use the gadgets available in each level to your advantage. Towards the later levels, you will often be able to choose between numerous different gadgets. I found the Blackjack gadget to be the most useful and efficient so be sure to pick it up when it is available. http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2351/dde.jpg Imperial March Travel 1 mile This will likely be one of the first trophies you unlock in the game. You cannot track the distance you have traveled but the trophy will likely unlock after the first few core levels. http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2351/ac6.jpg Long Walk to Freedom Travel 3 miles As with the Imperial March trophy this trophy will be one of the first few in which you earn in the game. Simply keep playing through the core levels and the trophy will unlock quite early on. http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2351/079.jpg Warming Up Play for 20 minutes Simply spend 20 minutes within core levels to earn this trophy. Your total time spent in levels cannot be tracked but you will likely unlock this trophy within the first 25 core levels. http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2351/e73.jpg Light Reading Read 25% of text in the core levels You will unlock this trophy in core level 24: Electric Gates. Please refer to Lord of the Things for more details. http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2351/326.jpg Illuminated Manuscripts Read 50% of text in the core levels You will unlock this trophy in core level 51: Shadow Puppet. Please refer to Lord of the Things for more details. http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2351/286.jpg Compiled Texts Read 75% of text in the core levels You will unlock this trophy is core level 75: A Transported Man. Please refer to Lord of the Things for more details. http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2351/d44.jpg Lore of the Things Read 100% of the text in the core levels During each of the core levels in the game, you will come across small text emblems in which you can read by pressing . They provide jokes, gameplay tips, plot related information, and general random unrelated pieces of information. The number of Texts differs in every level and there is no way in which you can track how many you have read. Some levels contain one Text item while others can have three or four. As such you need to look around each and every level to find them all. They aren’t hard to find and the levels are quite small so you shouldn’t miss any. However, if this trophy doesn’t unlock by the time you have completed the final core level you will not know which ones you are missing, which means you will have to start from the beginning of the game and collect them again. Below are some general tips when it comes to reading Texts and minimizing the possibility of missing any throughout the 100 core levels. Search everywhere within each level. All levels are quite small and linear so this isn't a hard task, but make sure you look everywhere for Texts. After you collect/read a Text go through a checkpoint to save your progress. If you die before reaching a checkpoint you will need to recollect all Texts that you read before your previous checkpoint. For a complete list of the number of texts in each level in the game, as well as when each of the text related trophies should unlock, please refer to this thread by ilRASli: LINK Edited August 1, 2017 by Terminator Changed the collectibles Guide link. mullinavat
http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2351/9b3.jpg Hidden in the shadow of Moses Hide in 50 lockers in the core levels Lockers are represented by doors positioned in the wall. You will first encounter Lockers in core level 13: The Hidden Sin (See below screenshot). After their first location they appear in most levels thereafter. To hide in a locker simply press in front of it and then press it again to exit. They allow you to hide from patrolling enemies without being seen. In order to unlock this trophy you need to hide in 50 lockers. It does not need to be 50 different lockers so feel free to quickly grind this out when you first come across lockers in core level 13: The Hidden Sin. If you don't feel inclined to do this, then the trophy will likely unlock through natural progression of the core levels. This will likely come through natural progression through the core levels. http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2351/d73.jpg Leaps of faith Jump 25 walls in the core levels You will unlock the ability to jump over walls in core level 36: Indirect Paths. Only certain walls can be jumped over once this ability has been unlocked. These walls are short and are always colored white. In order to jump over a wall press when standing next to the wall. This trophy will likely unlock through natural progression of the core levels. However, it can quickly be unlocked at the start of core level 36: Indirect Paths by jumping back and forth over the very first wall a total of 25 times. http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2351/efe.jpg Because it’ll hurt more Stun enemies 100 times in the core levels In order to stun an enemy you must use one of two gadgets. The first is the Follie which is described in the Enjoy your Trip trophy description. The second is the Blackjack gadget which is found in core level 71: The Heavy Hand. Once you pick up this gadget you use the to aim then first with . The Blackjack is the easiest gadget to use to stun an enemy as it has a quick recharge time (4 seconds) and you can spam it quickly on an enemy to stun them again before they regain consciousness. It also has a long firing distance so you can hit enemies quite far away from you. The easiest method to get this trophy is to stand near an enemy and just repeatedly spam to fire the Blackjack and stun the enemy. Once you perform 100 stuns on enemies the trophy will unlock. This trophy will most likely unlock through natural progression of the core levels. http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2351/e7c.jpg Always the Taffer Be seen by enemies 300 times in the core levels Each enemy in the game has a line of sight that, if you enter, the enemy will see you and be alerted to your presence and start to attack you. The line of sight of each enemy is represented by the cone shaped hatched area in front of them. In order to be seen by an enemy you must enter this hatched area where it will then turn red. Depending on the enemy you then have a small period in which to escape the line of sight before you get killed. In order to unlock this trophy you must be seen a total of 300 times. It does not matter if you get killed by the enemy or if you successfully escape and survive. There is no way of tracking your progress towards this trophy but you will likely unlock it through natural progression of the 100 core levels. The below images show what the enemies gray hatched line of sight looks like, both before being seen and after being seen. http://i.imgur.com/lSXAZPS.png?1 http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2351/cfc.jpg Rogue Unlike Die once Simply get spotted by an enemy by walking into their line of sight, which is represented by the hatched area in front of them, and they will be alerted to your presence and shoot you. Once you die for the first time the trophy will unlock. http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2351/d7c.jpg Arcade Flynn Die 200 times Depending on your level of skill, this trophy may not unlock by the time you complete all 100 core levels. However, it is more than likely that it will. Simply die 200 times by getting shot by enemies. To get killed by an enemy, you need to alert them to your presence by walking into the hatched area in front of them that represents their line of sight. http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2351/921.jpg Wearing Lincoln Green Play a level with a customized character You can only play as a customizable character once you have completed all 100 core levels. In order to play as a customized character you must go into settings from the main menu, then to customize character. From here select either Alan or Midge and change their color to whatever you see fit. Once you are satisfied go into Run Simulation and play any of the 100 core levels and the trophy will pop at the beginning. http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2351/450.jpg Be Heard Fire the bugle 50 times in core levels You will first find a bugle in core level 10: The Pointed Echo. The bugle functions as a sound device that can distract enemies allowing you to pass them unseen. It is represented by by a white square shape on the ground in which you can pick up pressing . To use the bugle you need to fire it with in the direction you want it to go by directing with the . You then press again when you want it to make a sound. In order to unlock this trophy you need to fire the bugle 50 times, it doesn't need to alert or distract an enemy. This will likely come through natural progression through the core levels, however if you want to unlock it early you can spam once you first pick it up in core level 10: The Pointed Echo. http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2351/9f1.jpg Enjoy your trip Place 20 follies in core levels You will first encounter follies in core level 49: The Folly of Youth. They function as a tripwire that temporarily stuns enemies, removing their line of sight allowing you to sneak past unseen. To use follies you first need to pick them up from the white gadget square on the ground by pressing . You then aim with the and line up where you want the trip wire to go. It must be between two walls. Then press to place it. For this trophy the follie doesn't need to be tripped by an enemy. Simply placing 20 will unlock the trophy. As such, you can quickly unlock this trophy at the start of core level 49: The Folly of Youth. Note that there is a recharge period of approximately 8 seconds in between uses of the follie gadget. The gadget will last for approximately 9 seconds and then take another 9 seconds to recharge before it can be used again. In order to unlock this trophy you must use the Veil gadget 30 times. This will likely unlock through natural progression of the core levels however it can quickly be obtained in core level 91: An Archery Contest. You don't need to pass by an enemy for it to count for the trophy, just simply stand anywhere in the level and keep using the Veil gadget by pressing . Fire 40 figments in core levels You will first come across the figment gadget in core level 39: Ghosts of the Past. Figments function as a ghost/ hologram of yourself in which you can fire through the enemies line of sight to distract them. Once you pick up the gadget you aim with the right stick and then fire by pressing . There is a short recharge period of approximately 6 seconds before you can fire another figment. In order to unlock this trophy you need to fire 40 figments. They don't need to trigger an enemy's attention. You will likely unlock this trophy through natural progression of the core levels. However, you can quickly grind out the trophy at the very beginning of core level 39: Ghosts of the Past. http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2351/5a9.jpg Agent 48 Wear a disguise 100 times in core levels In order to wear a disguise you must pick and use the Masquerade gadget. You will first come across this gadget in core level 61: The Broken Word. The Masquerade gadget allows you to temporarily wear a disguise so the enemies don't see you as an enemy (except for the dog-type enemies). As such, you can freely walk through their line of site without being attacked. It is worth noting that they will still be alerted to your presence but as long as the disguise is still active they won’t attack. The gadget will only last for approximately 12 seconds and then takes another 12 seconds to recharge before another use. You don't need to use this on an enemy for it to count towards the trophy. Using the gadget standing still, away from enemies will still count. You are unlikely to unlock this trophy through natural progression of the core levels. So either grind them out at their first location mentioned above or once you have completed all 100 core levels. If you have used all gadgets before this patch then install the patch and simply play any level and use any gadget and the trophy will unlock. If you are playing the game after installing the patch from the beginning then you will unlock the trophy once you have used all gadgets (refer to Q for more details). If you are playing without having patch 1.01 installed then the Q trophy will remained glitched. In order to unlock this trophy you need to use all 9 types of gadgets that are found throughout the core levels. You don't need to use every one in every location but you must use each type at least once. Below is a complete list of all 9 gadget types and what their function is. Folly - Tripwire that can be placed between two walls and stuns an enemy that walks through it. Bugle - Device that can be thrown and bounced off walls to create a sound and alert enemies(if they are within sound radius) which will cause them to investigate and remove them from your path. Mute - Allows to run quietly over sounds traps without alerting enemies. Oddity - Item that can be thrown against walls and will distract enemies that see it within their line of sight. Figment - Allows you to send a projection/ghost of yourself running in a direction you choose distracting enemies and possibly moving enemies from your path. Masquerade - Disguises you from enemies for 12 seconds allowing you to pass them without them chasing you. Oud - Item similar to the Oddity that can be thrown against walls except this emits a sound that attracts the attention of enemies within its radius. Blackjack - Device that can quickly stun enemies it is aimed at and has a quick recharge time. Veil - Renders you invisible to the enemies for 9 seconds. Melia
I have a quick way to get the agent 48 trophy- wear a disguise 100 times. Go to the level 'The Ace up his sleeve'. It's around level 93 I think. Once the teleport pad is clear use it to grab the disguise then teleport back. Go past the first turret then you reach an area with a dog and a dark shadow area- this is where you can quickly boost it. Basically what you want to do is put the disguise on, then get seen by the dog as soon as it's on and it'll instantly fall off, then go into the shadow to hide from the dog. As soon as it's recharged do it again and again. This is a quick way to do it as you don't have to wait for the disguise to expire when wearing it and instead it's just the recharge time. Ashbo
Brilliant guide mate. Concise & straight forward. Shame about the glitch but glad that a patch is inbound. Question on the 'Lore of the Things' trophy, does the game checkpoint when you read them & count the ones you have read after you pass the said checkpoint? If so if you miss one text in a level that has more than one but have say collected 2/4 could you reload a chapter to get the ones you missed, therefore making it easier to get them all through chapter select rather than another playthrough? However I do understand having said all that, if for those that are playing the game pre patch, have missed the core texts & are going for the plat anyway it will mean a secondary playthrough to get that. The game checkpoints when you walk through a checkpoint. So every text you haveread before this point will save, apparently. I thought I was certain I missed none but I still didn't earn the trophy. My only option is to go back and play all levels again and make sure I don't miss any by either dying and not passing a checkpoint.

MaX69WFN
I just got Platinium for Volume, and I wanted to add some comments about the texts to read. 1 - I got Lore of the Things on 1st playthrough at Level 99 (important thing to underline : i did the levels a first time to discover them, and i did them again, straight away, one or several times to get under PAR without dying and being sure to read all texts) 2 - There are 156 texts to read altogether 3 - Light Reading popped at level 023 (3 texts to read on the level) while reading 2nd text (Count was at : 038) 4 - Illuminated Manuscripts popped at level 047 (Count was at 077) 5 - Compiled Texts popped at level 074 (Count was at 116) 6 - And finaly Lore of the Things popped at level 099 (Count was at 155) After ending video, I found text 156 on level 100 but trophy already popped I've read this threat before starting the game and I was a bit worried about how it will go on with texts, and I must admit I was happy to hear the "gling" I hope this will help Edited December 28, 2015 by MaX69WFN

I'm almost positive you can just pop disguise and then hold triangle to reset to the last checkpoint. Assuming you had disguise before the checkpoint that should save some time. You only have to wait a couple seconds to reset to checkpoint as opposed to waiting about 10 seconds for it to run out. I did this a bunch of times and then got bored and actually played a couple levels. It popped when I was actually playing, but I'm almost positive those still counted. Saved a few minutes of grinding.
olafthestoutviking
I just got Platinium for Volume, and I wanted to add some comments about the texts to read. 1 - I got Lore of the Things on 1st playthrough at Level 99 (important thing to underline : i did the levels a first time to discover them, and i did them again, straight away, one or several times to get under PAR without dying and being sure to read all texts) 2 - There are 156 texts to read altogether 3 - Light Reading popped at level 023 (3 texts to read on the level) while reading 2nd text (Count was at : 038) 4 - Illuminated Manuscripts popped at level 047 (Count was at 077) 5 - Compiled Texts popped at level 074 (Count was at 116) 6 - And finaly Lore of the Things popped at level 099 (Count was at 155) After ending video, I found text 156 on level 100 but trophy already popped I've read this threat before starting the game and I was a bit worried about how it will go on with texts, and I must admit I was happy to hear the "gling" I hope this will help I can confirm that, but please note that Lore of the Things will pop at the SECOND text in level 99. olafthestoutviking
I wrote down how many texts are there in each level: 01-1 24-1 48-1 75-1 02-1 25-1 49-2 76-1 03-4 26-2 50-1 77-1 04-2 27-1 51-2 78-5 05-1 28-3 52-1 79-1 06-1 29-2 53-2 80-2 07-1 30-2 54-2 81-1 08-2 31-2 55-1 82-2 09-1 32-2 56-3 83-1 10-2 33-2 57-1 84-1 11-1 34-2 58-1 85-2 12-1 35-1 59-1 86-1 13-1 36-1 60-1 87-2 14-2 37-1 61-1 88-1 15-2 38-1 62-3 89-2 16-2 39-2 63-2 90-1 17-3 40-1 64-1 91-2 18-1 41-1 65-1 92-1 19-2 42-2 66-1 93-1 20-1 43-4 67-1 94-2 21-2 44-1 68-2 95-2 22-2 45-1 69-1 96-2 23-3 46-1 70-1 97-1 ---- 47-1 71-1 98-1 ---- ---- 72-3 99-2 ---- ---- 73-1 100-1 ---- ---- 74-1 ---- Here's when the trophies are supposed to pop: Level 23, text 2/3 - Read 25% of text in the core levels - Light Reading Level 47, text 1/1 - Read 50% of text in the core levels - Illuminated Manuscripts Level 74, text 1/1 - Read 75% of text in the core levels - Compiled Texts Level 99, text 2/2 - Read 100% of text in the core levels - Lore of the Things Any text will only count as read as long as you reach a checkpoint or the end of the level after reading. Also note that, at least on Vita, trophies only pop if you are online when you start the game (after that you can suspend/resume your Vita, just don't turn off the wi-fi toggle). The game WILL keep track of your progress otherwise, but you'll only see those trophies popping when you restart the game while connected. So make sure you're on a "trophy enabled" session, at least when playing levels 23/47/74/99 - in order to properly track your progress.
