Introduction

Actual Sunlight is a short text Adventure game created by Will O'Neill that explores depression and suicide. In the game, you play as Evan Winter, a man in his 30's living in Toronto who is lonely, overweight, and very unhappy with his life. Most of the game is a visual novel, which means you will be reading lots of text that the game provides for you. In between the walls of text, you will be able to interact with items around you, which will often give you more text to read.

Walkthrough

Step 1: Complete the game

You will earn most, if not all, of the trophies in this game by just playing and enjoying the story. Some of the trophies will be earned by just progressing through the story, while others are obtained by interacting with specific objects or people. The game is very short, so enjoy the story and read all of the text as you go along.

You will earn the following trophies in this step (in the order that you will earn them):

  • Wake Up (B)
  • Love (S)
  • Inconspicuous Consumption (B)
  • Depression (S)
  • Thank You (G)

Step 2: Mop-Up

If you missed a person or object to interact with, start a new game and look under each trophy description for where each object/person is located.

The following trophies will unlock in this step (in the order that you can unlock them)

  • Reflection (B)
  • From Me to You (B)
  • Family (B)
  • Transit Etiquette (B)
  • Indestructible (B)
  • The Corporation (S)

Conclusion

Actual Sunlight is a very easy and quick completion. It may not be the most interactive game, but its story is very well written, thought provoking, and gives a powerful message to all who play it. I hope this trophy guide helps you with any trophies that you may miss while going through the story!

Attempt to destroy the indestructible

There will be a section of the story where Evan will want to destroy stuff inside of his house. When this happens, interact with the sink. After Evan is done talking, the trophy will unlock.

Review the most obscure item in the store

After work, you will find yourself in a convenience store. In order to earn this trophy, you will need to find the video game and interact with it. This item is located in the top right corner of the store, and it is found to the left of the microwave.

Note: This trophy can be glitchy! For me, it unlocked when I interacted with the console, but for others, it unlocked when interacting with the microwave. I recommend making a save file before going to the convenience store and interacting with both items to make sure you get the trophy.

Pick the wrong streetcar seat

After you decide to go to work, you will be in a streetcar. If you try to sit next to one of the strangers, Evan will make a comment about not wanting to sit next to them. After this happens, the trophy should unlock.

Listen to a personal message

After you go outside of your apartment, interact with the young couple to your left. You will then see the text "Please read if you are a young person", followed by more text. When you finish reading all of the text, the trophy will unlock.

Think about the future

After you go outside of your apartment, interact with the family on the right side of the screen. After reading the text that the game presents to you, this trophy will unlock.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/3867/ec1.jpg Reflection (B) :tagmissable:

Look in the mirror

After you walk out of the bedroom, go down to the bathroom and interact with the mirror in the top right corner of the room. After you read all of the text, the trophy will unlock.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/3867/340.jpg Wake Up (B) :tagstory:

Begin another day

At the start of the game, you will have to read several lines of text. Once you have finished reading the text and are able to walk around the bedroom, interact with one of the objects in the room. After reading the text, this trophy will unlock.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/3867/7bc.jpg Thank You (G)(H) :tagstory:

Complete the game

You will obtain this trophy at the very end of the game.

[spoiler=ending]After you jump off the roof, you will read some text. Once you are done with the text, you will see the credits screen and the trophy will unlock.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/3867/02d.jpg Love (S)(H) :tagstory:

Speak to Tori and Jackie

When you go to work, you will have to speak with Tori and Jackie. Tori can be found working at her computer, which is located in the top right of the room in the bottom left of the screen. Jackie can be found in the room at the bottom of the screen; she will be standing near the window. Once you have talked to both of these characters and read all of the text, this trophy will unlock.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/3867/452.jpg Depression (S)(H) :tagstory:

Uncover all of Evan's thoughts

After you come home from work, you will have to read some text. This trophy will unlock after you have finished reading it.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/3867/d01.jpg The Corporation (S)(H) :tagmissable:

Speak to Troy, Natasha and Elisa

In order to earn this trophy, you will need to speak to three different characters at work: Natasha, Troy, and Elisa. All of these characters will be found in the bottom left room. Natasha will be in the top left the first time you go to work (make sure that you talk to her since she will not appear again), Troy will be in the bottom left, and Elise will appear in the top left the second time that you go to work. The trophy should unlock after speaking with all three characters once. If the trophy does not unlock after talking to all three of these characters, try talking to Troy again, and the trophy should unlock.

This guide you have made was rather quick and I used it, and it worked perfectly! Thanks so much!

The only problem I encountered is "Inconspicuous Consumption" trophy. After I interact with the console, it didn't popped for me for the first time. I end up starting a new file and went back to the store again; this time, I backed up my save, and interact to the console. Didn't pop up yet, but I load my back-up file again and interact the microwave and the trophy popped! I never knew there was a glitched, let alone a story-related I missed.

In case of glitch, it's best to back up your save before you interact the console.

This (unfortunately) also happened for me. I didn't save since the beginning so I had to redo it on my 2nd playthrough. The trophy popped the moment I interacted with the console (didn't even say "Yes" yet).

Highly recommended that you make a save the moment you enter the shop.

That said, I 100%ed the game already. Thank you for the guide! =)

Already a guide?! =O

Thanks a lot! Will use it for trophies I will miss on 1st playthrough =)

Thanks! Depending on what you choose to interact with, you might get them all the first play through, but some can be missable. I did a speed run to test which ones can be missed. :)

Thank you very much for letting me know about the glitchy trophy! I have updated the guide about this. If there is anything I can do to improve that part or anything else, let me know; this is my second trophy guide so any advice to improve this so this guide and any future guide I write can be better is appreciated! :o

Don't forget to update your guide if you should need to by using the Guide Update Thread. :applause:

This game sounds neat. Although I got a bit spoiled by having to read the spoiler haha. I like these types of games though so I'll have to check it out.

Thanks for your guide, Kairi, got the 100% in (near) record time. I like these introspective text based games, been playing them since I was a kid. Just a little while ago I replayed this to read through it all and I really liked the game. And can really relate like I'm sure most of us can if only a little bit.

Thanks again
