Introduction

Piecefall is a game made by students at Sheffield Hallam University in England, and is the first game put up for sale through the PlaystationFirst programme. For only 99p you really can't go wrong with this Tetris inspired puzzle game!

Walkthrough

UPDATE: Patch 1.01 changes the requirements for Nerves of Steel, making it easier. It also stops you from getting the trophy for watching the credits until you've played the game, so do not attempt this trophy straight away. This guide assumes you have this patch installed.

Step 1 - Complete the game on normal

You can either play the game blind and see how you fare, or you can use Moosh's supplement (link HERE) to breeze through it. If you're doing it on your own, just make note that there is a trophy for avoiding using any hints. If you have to use some during this playthrough though go ahead, we'll not be using any when going for Nerves of Steel.

Either way you play it you'll need to reach 6000 points to unlock the final stage, and 10'000 points to unlock Extreme Mode. This will be very easy using the supplement, but will take a little longer doing it on your own as some of the later puzzles are very tough to figure out.

In this step you will earn:

Ice QUB3D (B)

Anubliss (B)

Legendary Farming (B)

Hu's the Boss? (S)(H)

Step 2 - Watch the credits and get all misc trophies

Simple enough here, after completing the Zen Garden for the first time you'll be taken back to the main menu. Here select Credits and watch them all, then start a new game and get Front Flip for Style, Bounce Back and Instant Replay. Check the individual trophies for more info.

In this step you will earn:

Credit Card (B)(H)

Bounce Back (B)(H)

Front Flip for Style (B)

Instant Replay (B)

Step 3 - Complete Extreme Mode in under 10 minutes

This is the big one, and a real test of your nerve. Extreme Mode is normal mode but sped up, with the blocks dropping much faster. You will need to use Moosh's supplement for this (link HERE) and it's also advisable to have a stopwatch to keep an eye on how you're doing. More info on this can be found in the trophy Nerves of Steel.

If you haven't already gotten the trophies for not using hints or not failing a single puzzle then you will whilst getting this. There's not much more I can say other than good luck as this is quite tight in terms of how much leeway you have. It'll take a few tries to find out the quickest ways to flip around the puzzle pieces, but as they say, practice makes perfect.

In this step you will earn:

Nerves of Steel (G)

Piece of Mind (S)

Natural Puzzler (S)

Cube Companion (B)

Trophy Guide:

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/3805/a44.jpg Nerves of Steel (G)

Complete the entire game in Expert mode in under 10 minutes

The hardest trophy in the game, and the last that you'll get. To get this trophy you'll need to firstly play through the game and get 10'000 points in order to unlock Extreme Mode. Once you've done this the option to play Extreme Mode will be available, so select this from the main menu and make sure you've got Moosh's supplement guide (HERE) open.

Extreme Mode has the exact same puzzles as normal mode, but the blocks drop faster. In order to beat the time of 10 minutes you are going to have to be pretty much flawless. The timer starts from when the animation of going to the first level start, and finishes a few seconds after you've completed the last puzzle.

All I can really say to help with this trophy is that practice makes perfect. Use Moosh's puzzle guide (link HERE) and learn the colour order so you know which pieces go where, and then try and flip the pieces into position as quick as you can, hitting :cross: to drop the piece once it's in position.

I suggest having a stopwatch on hand just so you know how you're doing, here are a few markers from my run:

Finished Farm - Around 1 minute 30

Finished Mirage - Around 3 minutes 30

Finished Polar - Around 6 minutes - 6 minutes 30

If you're well ahead of those times then it's best to use that run through as a practice one and try to get a few levels down in your memory. The trophy won't pop immediately after you've finished the final puzzle either, it will take around 5 seconds or so after the final puzzle has been completed for the trophy to pop. And just for extra annoyance all the loading times between levels and those few seconds at the end count towards your total time!

Good luck!

Complete the game without failing a puzzle

This would be very hard if you tried it without using a guide, but luckily we here at PST always provide and Moosh has kindly put together a tremendous guide that shows the solutions to every puzzle in the game. If you follow this you will be fine, if you do fail you will need to go back to the main menu and start a new game.

Moosh's guide can be found HERE.

Complete the Farm island

See Hu's the Boss?

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/3805/b52.jpg Instant Replay (B)

Complete an island a second time through level select

After completing the game you will have the Level Select option appear on the main menu. Select it and choose Farm Island stage 1, complete all 12 puzzles and the trophy will pop.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/3805/047.jpg Front Flip for Style (B)

Complete a puzzle by rotating a piece at least 12 times

Start a new game and on the first puzzle just rotate the piece over and over until you've done at least 12 rotations. Then put the piece in place and the trophy is yours. Easy as pie!

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/3805/ee1.jpg Cube Companion (B)

Complete the game without using hints

If you fail a puzzle multiple times it will give you a third option along with Retry and Quit called Hint. A hint will put the first piece of the puzzle in the correct place for you, thus making the puzzle that much easier. But it does this at the expense of 250 points.

If you use Moosh's guide you won't need to use any of these, so go take a look HERE.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/3805/17c.jpg Hu's the Boss? (S)(H)

Complete the Zen island

Zen Island is the final island in the game and is unlocked by getting a score of over 6000 points from the first three levels. If you don't get 6000 in your first playthrough it will send you back to the start of the previous levels and you can keep playing to add onto your score. Once you hit 6000 and complete the Polar level again you will be taken to the Zen Garden.

To complete any of the islands you must complete 12 puzzles that get gradually harder. Each island will add an extra block to the mix, start with 1 and 2 piece puzzles, going up to 5 and 6 piece puzzles that will really test your grey matter.

Thankfully Moosh has created a great step by step guide, and with this you will beat all the puzzles with ease. You'll find it HERE.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/3805/d66.jpg Bounce back (B)(H)

Pass a puzzle after failing it 5 or more times

Very simple to do, start up a new game and deliberately fail the first 1 piece puzzle 5 times. Now solve it correctly and the trophy is yours!

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/3805/022.jpg Credit Card (B)(H)

View the credits screen

On the main menu screen there is an option called Credits. Select this option and go make yourself a cup of tea, when the credits are finished and have stopped moving press :circle: to go back to the main menu and the trophy will pop.

There was an update for the game today

Version 1.01

Fixed various bugs.

Increased time limit for "Nerves of Steel" trophy to 10 minutes.

Made "Credit Card" trophy require gameplay before awarding.

Nerves of Steel's description is now "Complete the entire game in Expert mode in under 10 minutes".

I don't know if the description for Credit Card is changed, but I assume it means you have to actually play something in the game first before it pops. I'll let you know in a bit. (Didn't pop when I started the game and just viewed credits before actually playing any levels. Not sure the reason for making it that way).

Played through the game once then Credit Card popped when I viewed the credits again. The extra half minute gives a little bit of breathing room for Nerves of Steel, but it's doesn't make it overly easy by any means. Took me 3 whole tries to get it (with 2 or 3 times where I screwed up a piece and had to start over). I was still basically in line with your times for the first three sets of puzzles then it basically allows a bit of breathing room for the last set.

Thanks Gage, I will add this info now and make sure to tell people to download the patch! Will make the trophy less rare though, damn :p

I'd tried getting the credits trophy out of the way first but it didn't pop. However, it worked after playing the game and beating some puzzles. Not really a major issue, just thought I'd mention it in case anyone tried it like how I first did.

That was something that was patched in with the latest update, I thought I'd mentioned it in the guide but I must have forgot to add it in when I put in the other info. I'll add it now :)

Thanks for the guide, helped a lot. When I finally got the trophy, my timer said around 10 minutes 10 seconds, so I was ready to start again when it popped. I don't know if I hit the button early or if I was given leeway on certain animations. Either way, a difficult trophy to earn
