Titan Souls is an pixel art, 2D, top down strategic adventure Indie game developed by Acid Drop. As a solitary hero, armed with a single retrievable arrow, you must traverse the lands to defeat the Titans and reclaim the Titan Soul shards. The game bears resemblances to both Shadow of the Colossus and Dark Souls, though the latter is debatable.

The game is quite unique in that the only enemies that exist are bosses. Each one takes only a single shot of your arrow to defeat. However, timing is crucial and learning each enemies attack and movement patterns will be essential.

In regards to trophies, you are looking at a pretty difficult platinum. This is mainly due to the high level of skill and patience that will be required of you. Multiple playthroughs will be needed, including a 20 minute speed run playthrough that will require you to know the ins and outs of certain boss fights with minimal room for error. You will also need to complete the game on the toughest difficulty- Hard difficulty on Iron Mode. Iron Mode is a game mode where you only have one life. If you die you will need to start the entire game over from the beginning. The platinum may seem a bit daunting at first, but it is very much doable.

Step 1: Complete the game on beating all bosses and obtaining Truth ending

For this first step, you will play through the game on Normal difficulty, which is all that is available to you at the start. Your main objective is to get familiar with each boss, so you can learn their attack and movement patterns. There are also a number of trophies relating to killing specific bosses in certain ways which you can work on in this step if you wish, but is recommended be done once you finish the truth ending. To be able to play the Truth ending, you have to beat all bosses in the areas previous to the final boss.

At the end of this step you will have unlocked the following trophies:

(B) Out of the frying pan…

(B) ...Into the fire

(B) First Blood

(S) Titan Soul

(G) TRUTH

Step 2: Cleanup Boss Specific Trophies and Practice Bosses

After you obtain the Truth ending, if you continue your save, you can now return to any boss in the game and replay it as many times as you wish, which works better for practicing the bosses and working on the boss specific trophies. You may have already unlocked some of these in step one as well.

At the end of this step you will have unlocked the following trophies:

(B) Laser Eye Surgery

(B) Drug Trial

(B) Demo Man

(B) COME AT ME BRO

(B) Leak Spin

(B) Beating the Yeti

(B) Titanic

(B) A Collision of Souls

(B) Shadow of the Giant

(S) Slimeball

(S) Short Back and Sides

(S) Dental Plan

(S) The Switch

(S) Bomber Titan

(S) Ca$h Mon£y

(S) Brain Freeze

Step 3: No Roll mode playthrough on Normal difficulty

Once you beat the game the first time, you will now be able to play through on any difficulty. This includes Iron Mode and No Roll mode. As such, the following steps of the walkthrough are interchangeable and are only a guide, however we have listed them in order of what we believe to be the most logical.

Once you have completed the game the first time and cleaned up the boss specific trophies, you should be familiar with the boss level designs. You then want to complete the game in the No Roll Mode which is unlocked after beating the final boss once. This disables the entire rolling function as well as running, so you don't worry about accidentally rolling during this playthrough.

At the end of this step you will have unlocked the following trophy:

(G) Hard Bizkit

Step 4: 20 minute speed run

By now, you should be quite familiar with the majority of the bosses in the game. For this step, you will want to beat the game under 20 minutes. It doesn’t matter what difficulty you choose, but obviously Normal will be the easiest. You won’t need to beat every boss in the game for this playthrough, just enough to advance through each sealed gate. We have suggested what we believe are the easiest bosses, so please refer to the Aerodynamics trophy description for more information. There are also a few small bugs that currently exist which can help with this playthrough as well. In order to track your time in this playthrough, we suggest you turn on the in game timer, which can be done in game by pausing and navigating to Options > Timer: on. This trophy is effectively missable as if you make it to the last boss and more then 20:00 minutes has passed on the in game timer, then you will need to start again.

At the end of this step you will have unlocked the following trophy:

(G) Aerodynamics (missable)

Step 5: Complete the game on Normal Iron difficulty, defeating all bosses

The difference between Normal and Hard difficulty levels is that bosses move faster making it harder to avoid their attacks. In Iron mode, you only have a single life, so if at any point during this playthrough you die, you will need to start the game from the beginning. However, you can use the cloud save exploit, so if you die you can quit the game, redownload your save and start again from your last checkpoint. For more information on how to do this, please read the description for Iron Human in the trophy guide below.

At the end of this step you will have unlocked the following trophies:

(G) Iron Human

(G) Iron God

Step 6: Complete the game on Hard Iron mode, only beating necessary/easiest bosses

For this step, you will need to complete the game in Hard mode whilst Iron Mode is active. This will most likely be the defining point as to whether or not you obtain the platinum trophy or not. Iron Mode means you have one life for the entire length of the game. There are no checkpoints. If you die at any point, you will need to start the game over from the beginning. By this point, you should be very familiar with the Bosses in the game, and know the quickest route through the game.

At the end of this step you will have unlocked the following trophies:

(G) New Game+

(G) Iron Titan

(P) Ascension

See the Truth

This trophy is earned for beating “Truth”, which is the secret ending boss of the game. To get to this boss, you must beat all 18 previous Titans including the final boss, then head through the door at the top of the final boss area. You will then engage in a three stage fight against Truth, at the end of which you will unlock this trophy after the credits have rolled again. For a complete text and video walkthrough of this fight, please see the spoiler below.

[spoiler=cba]Stage 1:

For the first stage, the boss consists of two spinning discs, one of which has the weak spot inside. Both discs will start in the air above you spinning. One will roll across the screen horizontally and then the second will roll across the screen vertically. The one travelling horizontally has the weak spot. Once you dodge the horizontal disc and the vertical disc once, you will have a small opportunity to quickly fire at the horizontal disc to advance to the next stage. If you miss, the process will start again.

Stage 2:

For the second stage, the two discs will be facing each other and there will be leech like enemies swimming between the two discs. Only certain ones will try and attack you (the ones with mouths) and there will be one that has the weak spot (the large purple eye). Once this stage begins, head towards the disc to your left and hit the large leech enemy that swims your way. Now head to the disc on your right; there will be two leech enemies that swim at you. Shoot them both and then you will see the one with the weak spot inside it. Quickly shoot at it to advance to the next stage. If you miss, you will have a hard time as numerous leech enemies will start to swim at you, and it can be difficult to avoid them.

Stage 3:

For this stage, the weak spot will turn be an eye that shoots a laser at you whilst leech enemies are swimming around you like in stage 2. It’s best to pick off a few of the leech enemies that swim your way at first whilst staying far back from the weak spot to avoid its laser. Once you have an opening, fire your arrow at the weak spot as it is always open; you just need to make sure that there aren’t any leech enemies in the way. Once you hit it, you will have defeated the enemy and the trophy will unlock shortly after.

Beat the game in Iron Mode with Hard Mode active

This trophy is earned for finishing the game in Hard Mode while also having iron mode active. It is recommended you do this in one step with the regular hard mode run, as by now the slightly changed boss patterns shouldn’t be a huge issue.

For info on how to back up saves for use during an iron mode playthrough, see Iron Human.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2905/9e7.jpg New Game+ (G)

Beat the game in Hard Mode

Hard mode is an extra difficulty unlocked after you have beat the game once. This mode makes the bosses harder to defeat, adding in different attack patterns and increasing the attack speed on most of the bosses.

For this trophy, you only need to beat enough bosses to fight the Soul boss to beat the game and earn the trophy. It is recommended that you combine this trophy with Iron Titan and do Hard Mode in one run to get both trophies, to save yourself the extra run through on hard mode.

Which bosses you choose is basically personal preference, but there are ones that are easier to beat than others. Ignoring the first 4, the recommended bosses to fight would be:

  • The mask titan
  • The large stationary titan that you don’t need to fight to kill (still counts as one spot on the gate)
  • The plant titan
  • The teeth titan
  • The underwater snake titan
  • The rolling titan
  • The blob titan

If you wanted to swap one out, the mushroom titan is another fairly viable option. It would be recommended to avoid the Knight, as it is extremely difficult on hard difficulty.

Beat the game in under 20 minutes

This trophy is missable

This trophy is earned by beating the final boss with a time of under 20 minutes. This isn’t very difficult to do, and there is currently what is most likely a bug in the game where the timer stops after you beat Gol-Set and doesn’t run while you are fighting the final boss. To get this, you will most likely have to have played through the game at least a couple times to know the fastest way to beat each boss, and while there is room to spare to allow breathing room if you die more and a few times, you might not make it depending on how long you spend on each boss/which ones you fight.

Which bosses you choose can basically be personal preference on which ones can do the fastest, but there are ones that are generally easier and faster to do than other. Ignoring the first 4, the recommended bosses to fight would be:

  • The face boss in the graveyard
  • The mimic in the ruins
  • The rolling boss in the lava area
  • The blob boss in the lava area
  • The skull boss in the lava area
  • The teeth boss in the snow area
  • The yeti boss in the snow area

All these bosses have strategies that allow you to kill them in a mostly set pattern in 15 seconds or less, which is what you need to be able to do. If you have one of them that you’re really bad at, you could swap it out for the underwater snake boss for another short boss, or the large statue boss that you don’t actually need to fight in the graveyard. This wouldn't be recommended though as that boss takes around 3 minutes just to get to and back from which is time you could beat multiple other bosses in. If you are consistently dying on a boss then you might want to back up your save file so you don't waste to much time. For details on how to do this, please refer to the Iron Human description below. For reference, once I got to the final boss, my counter was on 16:35, so there is definitely some room for error.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2905/334.jpg Iron Human (G)

Beat the game in Iron Mode

Iron Mode is a mode where you only have one life for the entire playthrough. If you die at any time, you are put back at the very beginning of the game and have to start over. There is no difficulty change other than this, so if you were able to beat the final boss then you can beat Iron Mode.

If you would like to do Iron Mode legitimately, there’s really no suggestion to give than practice. All boss patterns are still the same as a regular normal mode playthrough, so you can practice all you want on your first save after you get the secret ending. You can play it safe with bosses, but normally the easiest way to beat them is always following the pattern to beat them the fastest way.

If you want to do Iron Mode with save backups, then after every boss you beat, wait for the saving icon to go away, then enter the pause menu and choose to quit to the main menu. Once you are back on the main menu and it has saved again, then go to settings on your PS4 dashboard and then Application Saved Data Management. From there choose Saved Data in System Storage, then choose to either copy your data to PS+ Cloud Storage or a USB drive. If you die to a boss, in the first menu for Application Saved Data Management choose either Saved Data in Online Storage or USB Storage, then copy the save back onto your system from before you died to the boss.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2905/3a9.jpg Hard Bizkit (G)

Beat the game without rolling rolling rolling (in No Roll mode)

No Roll mode is a mode you unlock after you beat the game once, in which you are not able to roll or sprint at all. This is probably the hardest mode in the game due to not being able to roll, which makes dodging most bosses very challenging. While going for this trophy, you should devote a playthrough to it alone, without adding Iron onto it as well as you will most likely die a lot trying to kill the bosses (you can’t combine this with hard mode either as the game doesn’t allow it, as it would be impossible to complete).

After defeating the first bosses in the game, you will then need to beat a further 8 bosses in order to open the second sealed door. We found the following 8 bosses the easiest to defeat in No Roll mode as the majority have predictable movement patterns.

  • The face boss in the graveyard
  • The second hidden boss in the graveyard
  • The vine boss in the forest area
  • The mimic in the ruins
  • The rolling boss in the lava area
  • The skull boss in the lava area
  • The ice serpent in the snow area
  • The yeti boss in the snow area

The above bosses are just a suggestion; if you are more comfortable with other bosses, then feel free to fight one of them. However, some bosses are near impossible to defeat in no roll mode as their attacks are almost unavoidable.

After you have defeated 8 bosses and advance through the second sealed gate, you will need to fight the Guardian and the Soul. For the Guardian, please refer to the video in the Boss Strategies section below the guide for a strategy for defeating him. For the Soul, you will want to use the same strategy you used on your first playthrough. You can deflect his arrow with your own by shooting it at his. This will be easier than trying to avoid/ dodge his arrow as you simply won’t be fast enough. Once you beat the final boss, the trophy will unlock.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2905/f53.jpg Iron God (G)

Slay all Titans in Iron Mode

This trophy is earned for beating every boss in the game (including the secret boss) with Iron Mode active. This should be combined with your normal Iron playthrough, as you should have already beaten all the bosses on normal previously to get the secret ending. It is not recommended that you attempt this on your Hard Iron save, as some of the bosses are very difficult to deal with on hard mode, so trying to beat them with Iron Mode active will make for a very frustrating time.

See Iron Human for more info on Iron Mode.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2905/21a.jpg Laser Eye Surgery (B)

Kill the eye cube while pulling back the arrow

You can only unlock this trophy against the rolling eye cube boss which is one of the first 4 bosses you will fight in the game before you reach the first sealed gate.

This boss follows you around the area which is set up like a chess board. It moves one square at a time with its eye being positioned on one of the sides of the cube. You must shoot him in the eye when he opens in periodically.

Once you shoot him, he will roll 4 spaces moving as close to you as possible, followed by opening it’s eye and firing a laser across the area in whichever direction it’s eye is pointing. This is when you will want to hit him.

Begin by moving one square forward into the room, then fire your arrow at him which will start the fight. Do not pull it back just yet but leave it when it is. You will then want to move to the right or left and stand towards the bottom outside corner of the squares two away from the middle. Once the boss rolls 3 squares downwards and 1 to the side, he will open his eye. At this point, you will want to pull back on your arrow to hit his eye and defeat him and unlock the trophy.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2905/0bb.jpg Drug Trial (B)

Succumb to the effect of spores for 30 seconds total

This trophy can only be obtained against Obello, which is the large mushroom boss found to the north-east after riding the elevator following the first sealed gate.

This boss will fire spore projectiles every time it jumps up and down off the ground. On occasions, there will be a purple projectile that appears. After a short distance, these spores will disintegrate into smaller fragments. You want to run through these fragments and the trails the projectiles leave in order to absorb them and succumb to their drug like effects. All this essentially means is that the colours of the screen will change, and after a certain number are absorbed, it will start cycling screen colors and the game will slow down. The effects will only last a short period of time, so you will need to keep running through these smaller spore fragments so the effects start again.

If you run into one of the spores before they have disintegrated, you will be killed. For more information on the attack patterns of this boss, please refer to the boss strategies section below the guide.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2905/8f1.jpg Demo Man (B)

Kill the knight after destroying all pillars

This trophy can only obtained against the knight boss which can be found in the second area after passing through the first sealed gate.

In this boss fight, there will be 6 pillars, 3 on either side of the arena. In order for them to be destroyed, they need to be hit by the enemies attacks. These include the large white arrow he fires that ricocheted around the area, and the 3 normal wooden arrows he fires. Each pillar takes two attack to be destroyed, however, the pillar will only protect you from the enemies attacks when it hasn’t been hit yet. Once it has been hit once, you will not be able to hide behind it and be protected.

Once all 6 pillars have been destroyed, you will need to kill the boss to unlock the trophy. To kill the boss, shoot his large white arrow with you own. This will temporarily removed the bosses armour and expose his weak spot beneath. Pull back your arrow and fire it at him before his armour reappears on his body. Once he has been defeated, the trophy will unlock.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2905/370.jpg COME AT ME BRO (B)

Kill the rolling Titan in under 5 seconds

This trophy can only be obtained against the rolling Titan that can be found in the lava area of the game. The method required to kill the boss for this trophy is actually the easiest and fastest way to kill this Titan, and it is recommended you learn the method for this trophy for all times you replay this boss.

As soon as you enter the boss area, move slightly up and shoot your arrow at it, then retreat against the wall where the door was. Immediately pull your arrow back and get ready to shoot again, as there is only a short pause before the boss rolls directly at you. You have to time your shot correctly as it is rolling, as you need to hit it right before it is about to hit you when it’s eye is facing you. It may take a try or two to get down, but when you do this is the easiest way to kill this boss.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2905/33f.jpg Leak Spin (B)

Kill the skull Titan as it spins

This trophy can only be obtained against the skull titan which can be found on the lower right section of the lava area of the game.

This titan has two large spike balls for hands that it uses to pull itself around. Once you start the fight by shooting it, it will turn and use one of it’s spiked balls to try and squish you, then pull itself forward. Once it drops it’s ball, you need to quickly move behind the boss so that it rotates it’s body to face you. It will then drop it’s ball again and drag itself forward. You need to move behind it to get it to rotate twice more, and right after the 3rd time it will start spinning, which is when you need to kill it. You want to be as far away from the boss as possible when it starts spinning so that you can aim for the spot on it’s back. The timing on this is very slim, and you only have a few rotations to aim before it normally kills you. Once you hit the spot while it’s spinning and kill it, you will earn the trophy.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2905/4b9.jpg Beating the Yeti (B)

Finish in under 10 seconds...

This trophy can only be obtained against the Yeti boss which can be found within the frozen area of the game.

Upon starting the boss fight, fire your arrow at him he will begin by throwing a wave of 4 snowballs at you and then roll in your direction. This roll is quite fast, so be ready to evade by rolling out of the way. He will continue to roll until he hits the side of the area which will then result in numerous icicles falling from above. For more information on the attack patterns of this boss, please refer to the boss strategy section below the guide.

In order to finish him within 10 seconds, you will need to kill him during the first set of three rolls that he performs. After first firing your arrow at him, move to the left or right and avoid the snowballs he throws. He will then roll at you three times in a row. Each time he rolls, he will hit the side wall and then flip into the air. Everytime he lands following this flip, he will have his back towards you exposing his weak point. As such, you will want to evade the roll and then get your arrow ready aiming it at him and fire as soon as he lands from his flip. Timing is pretty narrow here. If you kill him within the first set of three rolls, you should be within the 10 second time limit for this trophy.

Destroy all icebergs

This trophy can only be obtained against the ice serpent/snake which is found in the frozen mountains section of the game. Please refer to the boss strategy section below the guide for information on how to gain access to this boss fight.

Upon entering the boss area, you will notice that there are 7 floating icebergs and the boss is swimming in the water below. Once the fight begins, the boss will periodically jump up out of the water and try and land on top of you. If it lands on one of the icebergs, the iceberg will break and disappear. You will want to get it to do this to all 7 icebergs in the area. You must be aware of the pattern the boss follows, as it will do three jumps into the air then after the third jump it will electrify the water which also causes two of the icebergs to respawn (excluding the central one with the gong that starts the fight). Continue to get the boss to land on the icebergs to destroy them, making sure to always return to an iceberg every third jump so that you aren’t killed. Once there are no icebergs left in the battle, the trophy will unlock, at which time you will die because you won’t have anything to stand on to avoid the electrified water.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2905/489.jpg A Collision of Souls (B)

Knock yourself out in the battle for the Titan Soul

This trophy can only be obtained in the final boss fight, against the Soul. This fight is against a doppelganger of yourself that shoots an extremely fast arrow at you as well as releasing homing orbs that will kill you if they touch you. It will also attempt to pick up your arrow and fire it at you if you leave it on the ground for too long.

To earn this trophy, you will have to let the boss pick up your arrow and fire it back at you. When it does this, it will be electrified and bounce around the area in a similar fashion to the white arrow the Knight Titan fires. When it does this you, won’t be able to pick the arrow up until it has stopped moving. To earn this trophy, you want to try and pull the arrow toward you while it is bouncing around the arena. If you pull it all the way towards you while it is still electrified, it should kill you, and award you the trophy.

Kill the broken statue Titan while pulling back the arrow

This trophy can only be obtained against the statue boss which will be one of the first bosses you fight in the game. It is located in the first group of 4 bosses before going through the first sealed gate.

Upon entering the boss area, you will need to stay close to the entrance and fire your arrow at the boss to start the fight. You need to do this because as soon as you let go of the arrow, you need to roll backwards out the door before it closes and locks you in the boss area. Once you are outside, pull the arrow a bit so that it stops right in the middle of the boss area. You should then go up the stairs on either side of the boss and around behind him, staying towards the outside walls so that you aren’t clipped by the boss’s fists. From there, wait for his weak spot to appear by moving across the middle line of the area, so that he switches hands, pull back on your arrow to hit the weak spot and defeat him and unlock the trophy.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2905/27a.jpg Slimeball (S)

Kill the sludge Titan with no more possible divisions

This trophy can only be obtained against the he sludge titan, which is the first titan through the door directly in front of the checkpoint at the start of the game. This titan has it’s weak point inside a large ball of sludge that splits in half each time you hit it, creating more sludge bits. You need to split all the sludge bits down into their smallest pieces before killing the titan to earn the trophy.

You have to split the sludge a total of 4 times to get it to it’s smallest pieces. Once you have the pieces at their smallest, they can’t be hit again and will bounce around toward you until you hit the boss’s heart. While attempting to split the pieces, try to stay around the outside of the area to have the most room. The sludge pieces will always chase you around the area (other than the pieces with the heart or the heart itself), so you should be able to lead them in a train around the room as you go. While going make sure to stay away from the slime, they leave on the ground as this will slow you down and make the sludge harder to dodge. Once you have the sludge all down into it’s smallest pieces, hit the heart to kill the titan and you will be awarded the trophy.

Cut all the vines off the plant Titan

This trophy can only be obtained against the plant titan with the vines which is located to the north-east of the sanctuary area after riding the elevator following the first sealed gate. From the checkpoint in this area, move through the right hand side of the screen and then turn around and go back the way you came. The area will have changed and you should then move to the area upwards on the screen to continue towards the boss fight.

This boss has four large vines in which it rotates around the level, slamming down on the ground. If at any point you touch them, you will die. In order to cut the vines off, you need to shoot them with your arrow when they are on the ground. The vine will be cut off from wherever you shoot them, so if you shoot the vine halfway up, the half that is still attached will continue to function as normal. You must cut off all nodules from all four vines. It’s worth noting that even after the sections of the vines have been cut off, if you touch them where they lie on the ground, you will die. As such, try and cut them off in the one area so you have room to move around. Once all nodules from all four vines have been cut off, the trophy will unlock.

Remove all teeth from the mountain Titan then kill it

This trophy can only be obtained against the mountain boss which is found in the in the ice mountain area of the game. To start the fight, shoot your arrow at the statue in front of you.

You will notice on the boss head in front of you that it has 5 large teeth. These will appear periodically as the boss raises its head out of the ground. In order to knock them out, you must use the bosses own attack on himself. The boss has two main attacks; firstly, he tries to punch you by raising his fist from beneath you out of the ground. Once his fist is in the air, he will then try and shoot you with ice which leaves a temporary trail of ice on the ground, which is deadly if you touch it.

It is at this point that you must aim his ice attack at his teeth in order to knock them out and expose the weak spot behind. Timing may not always work though as he may shoot his ice attack when his teeth aren’t exposed. As such, you just need to keep running around and wait for the correct timing. Once all 5 teeth have been knocked out, shoot his mouth to defeat him and unlock this trophy.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2905/8ab.jpg The Switch (S)

Trigger the Guardian's switches with the opposite hands and kill it

This trophy can only be obtained against the Guardian, which is the second last boss fight in the game. You will fight it after riding the elevator upon travelling through the second sealed gate.

The boss has two fists which he slams down on top of you throughout the fight. On either side of him are two switches which upon a fist landing on each one and staying there will reveal the bosses weak spot inside his mouth. For this trophy, you must get the opposing fist to trigger each switch. Depending on what side of the area, you are standing on the corresponding fist will try and squash you. For example, if you are standing on the right hand side of the screen the fist on that side will try and hit you. As such, you must quickly move from the right hand side towards the switch on the left in order to get that fist to land and trigger that switch. You then need to get the left fist to trigger the right hand switch.

This is one of the more difficult boss specific trophies as timing is critical. If you move too early from one side of the screen to the other, the wrong fist will follow you. Furthermore, if you don’t move fast enough, then the fist won’t make it all the way to the switch. Once both switches have been triggered, the fists will both start trying to squash you in quick succession whilst the mouth of the boss opens. Be sure to move quickly at this point as to avoid being squashed, and to not stand directly in front of the mouth as you will get killed by the laser. Once the mouth is open, quickly fire your arrow at it to kill the boss and unlock the trophy.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2905/1ad.jpg Bomber Titan (S)

Drop a bomb on the lava blob Titan's head

This trophy can only be obtained against the lava blob boss which is found in the lava cave area of the game, behind a lava waterfall directly north of the checkpoint. To start the fight, shoot the boss with your arrow.

For this trophy, you must get one of the bombs in which the boss fires up into the air to land on top of the boss. In order to do this, you must get the boss close to one of the sides of the levels, so when she fires the bomb it deflects off the wall and lands back on top of her.

Firstly, fire your arrow into her mouth when her mouth is open. This will enable you to pull her closer to the side of the level by holding :square: to pull back on your arrow. Your main concern will be avoiding the fire spray as you can easily get cornered when you are trying to pull her to one side of the level. As such, it’s best to pull her when she isn’t shooting the fire. The rest primarily comes down to timing. Once she fires a bomb and it lands on top of her head, the trophy will unlock. You don’t need to actually defeat her.

Produce 50 coins in the chest fight

This trophy can only be obtained against the treasure chest boss which in the area passed the first sealed gate following the first four boss fights. To start the fight, you will need to shoot your arrow at the stack of coins in the back left corner of the room and then proceed down the staircase that appears in the bottom right corner of the room.

One of the bosses moves involves shooting a bunch of coins into the air that then rain down on top of you. These coins will remain on the ground unless the boss jumps on them and block the area in which you can move around. In order to unlock this trophy, you must keep moving around until the boss has produced at least 50 coins. You do not need to kill the boss afterwards; the trophy will unlock as soon as 50 coins have been produced.

The best way to do this is by circling around the outside of the room as much as possible while avoiding the chest. You want to keep as much of the area open as possible so that you can dodge the chest.

Kill the brain with a flaming arrow

This trophy can only be obtained against the brain boss which is one of the first four bosses you will fight in the game. Form the starting checkpoint, head up the stairs to the right and through the door in front of you to enter the boss area. To start the fight, shoot the boss with your arrow.

The brain is located within an ice cube which you must first melt by shooting a flaming arrow at. In the middle of the room is a small fire that turns on periodically; you must shoot your arrow through flame and then hit the boss to melt the ice and expose the weak brain inside. You will then need to repeat this again to kill the boss with a flaming arrow. An easy method is to place your arrow on top of the flame area and then once the arrow is on fire, pull it back towards you. Just make sure that the brain is located between yourself and the arrow and it is on the ground.

The below strategies for each boss fight will help you on the majority of your playthroughs. We attempt to explain what the main attack patterns are and what the easiest and most consistent methods are for defeating them. Some bosses are highly predictable and can be beaten within 5-10 seconds every time once you understand what their initial movement are. Other bosses are less predictable and take some luck to beat and can prove to be quite challenging on the tougher playthroughs of the game. The bosses aren't listed in any particular order as once you get through the first sealed gate, you can virtually fight them in any order you wish.

The below video by YouTube user Alex68 describes and shows highly useful methods for defeating all bosses in the game. If at any point you are struggling with a boss, then we suggest you have a look at the video for extra strategies, especially when it comes to your speed run playthrough.

[ame]

[/ame]

Sludgeheart (green blob)

This is one of the first bosses you will encounter in the game before reaching the first sealed door. To start the fight, fire your arrow at the large green slime ball bouncing around the room.

The boss is a large slime ball with a weak heart in the middle. In order to expose the heart and defeat the boss, you will need to strip away numerous layers of the slime. Everytime you fire your arrow at the slime ball, it will divide in half, creating a smaller slime balls that will bounce around after you in an attempt to squash you. The initial slime ball can be divided four times in total, and once at their smallest stage, they cannot be popped and will continue to bounce after you despite you firing your arrow at them. They will also leave a temporary trail of slime on the ground that will slow you down if you walk through it.

You will want to focus your arrows on the slime ball that contains the heart in order to reduce the number of smaller slime balls that are created. Your arrow will damage the slime balls both when you fire it and when you pull it back towards yourself, so you can potentially use this to your advantage to break the numerous slime layers quickly and expose the weak heart. Once the heart is exposed and no longer contains slime around it, fire it once with your arrow to defeat the boss.

Rolling Eyecube

This is one of the first bosses you will encounter in the game before reaching the first sealed door. To start the fight, fire your arrow at the large cube in the middle of the room.

The arena in which you fight this boss is set up like a chess board with numerous squares on the ground. The boss moves around the area by flipping one square at a time. It has two main attacks, which include squashing you and a laser that shoots forward every time it opens its eye. The eye is also it’s weak spot which you must shoot with your arrow in order to defeat the boss.

This boss does not have an overly predictable movement pattern from the commencement of the fight. The only pattern that remains consistent is that it opens it’s eye every time it moves four tiles. As such, you need to plan ahead to get yourself in the right position to fire your arrow for when the eye opens, but also keeping in mind to keep clear of the laser that is fired simultaneously. Keep a watch of where the eye is on the boss and figure out its trajectory for when it will open. The boss can move quite quickly as well so make sure you keep moving around and try and pick up your arrow by running into it as opposed to pulling it back as this will leave you vulnerable to getting squashed.

Brainfreeze

This is one of the first bosses you will fight in the game, before reaching the first sealed door. To start the fight, fire your arrow at the large ice cube in the middle of the floor.

This boss has two forms, both of which comprise of a single attack pattern. The boss first appears as a brain frozen in an ice cube and will slide around the room trying to squash you. During this stage, keep well clear and evade it’s attack by rolling and/ running. You will notice in the middle of the room is a small flame that periodically lights up. In order to expose the weak brain, you need to melt the ice that encapsulates it. To do this, you will need to fire your arrow through the flame when it appears and then hit the ice cube. Position yourself with the flame between yourself and the boss; that way when it briefly lights up you can quickly fire your arrow through it into the boss. The flame only stays lit up for a few seconds or less each time so you will need to paying attention.

Once the ice cube has been melted, the weak brain will now be exposed. The attack pattern of this stage includes it floating through the air and trying to squash you. Again just keep far away from it and evade by rolling to avoid being killed. All you need to do now is hit it once with your arrow and the boss will be defeated.

Goliath

You will fight Goliath early in the game before you advance through the first sealed gate.

He has one attack move which is pounding his fists on the ground in an attempt to squash you. Depending on what side of the screen you are standing on dictates which of his fist he will use to squash. The other fist will remain near his head and block the weak spot. Once you move to the other side of the screen, the fists will alternate and as they swap over there will be a small window of opportunity to fire your arrow at the weak spot and defeat him.

A good place to stand is right in the middle of the area against the southern area wall where you enter. Move from one side to the other on the centre line to get the boss to alternate the fists he uses to try and hit you. At this location you will be out of reach, so it merely comes down to accurately aiming and hitting the weak spot.

Avarice: Manifestation of Greed (coin chest)

This will likely be the fifth boss in which you battle. Upon entering the boss area, you will need to go to the back left corner and shoot the stack of coins in order for a hidden staircase to appear in the bottom right hand corner. Proceed down the staircase to begin the boss fight.

This boss has three main moves which at the start of the battle it will always perform in the same order. The first is a coin shower in which the boss will fire numerous coins into the air and they will rain down upon you, followed by bouncing towards you twice then disappearing. It will then reappear very close to you, then perform it’s second move which is a body slam where the boss will try to drop directly on top of you. It will then bounce twice more. It then performs it’s third attack where it spits a single count straight at you. It is during this third attack that you can fire your arrow and defeat this enemy. If you are fast with this, you can wait after the boss does it’s second bounce before it flips to spit the coin at you, then shoot it as soon as it opens to reveal it’s weak spot in it’s mouth.

Knight Elhanan

To begin this fight, shoot the large arrow in the top left of the screen. The knight will then appear and the fight will begin. The knight starts by shooting a large white arrow at you that ricochets around the room, followed by firing 3 smaller arrow. Once he fires those three, the white arrow will stop moving and he'll jump around to pick up the three small arrows, followed by picking up the large arrow last then starting the pattern over.

This boss has a fairly repeatable strategy that you can use to beat it. After you trigger the fight, head down to the bottom wall by where you came in. You want to get him to shoot the white arrow as straight down as possible, so that it comes back after it bounces off the back wall. After it has bounced, you need to dodge his first small arrow, then hit the white arrow as it comes back. Once you hit it and it reveals the Knight's weak spot, quickly shoot your arrow at him before his armor returns.

When you shoot the first arrow to trigger the fight and the large white arrow, you will be knocked down and stunned by lightning. You can actually avoid this by rolling right before the lighting hits you, but the timing on this can be very slim.

Also note there are 6 large pillars in the boss area. If you don't follow the above strategy, you can hide behind these if you like, but once they become weakened by being hit once, they will not protect you from his arrows if they are hit again. The arrow will pass right through on it's path and destroy the pillar.

Yeti

The fight begins with the yeti firing four snowballs at you. This is best avoided by strafing either clockwise or anticlockwise. He then follows this up with a high speed roll straight you. This is incredible fast and you can easily be killed if you are standing too close. The Yeti will then slam into the side of the arena and a small number of icicles will fall from above in a line generally parallel with you and the Yeti. If touched these, they will kill you.

The Yeti performs three of these rolls in total before coming to a complete stop exposing his buttocks for an extended period which is his weak point and where you must fire your arrow. You have a very small window of opportunity between rolls in which you can fire your arrow, or alternatively wait until after the third roll in which he will wait for a bit longer before turning. Your best bet is to dodge his roll when you are close to the edge of the arena so that you can quickly get behind him after he bounces off the wall. Once he hits, draw your arrow and immediately fire at him just before he lands back on the ground. If timed correctly, you will hit his buttocks before he starts his next roll.

Ice Serpent

To get this boss fight, you must light the cauldrons by shooting your arrow through the fire along the path that leads to the boss entrance, then shoot an arrow through the last lantern toward the ice block on the top wall of the icy area. This will melt the ice wall that blocks the entrance.

Once inside, you will notice that there are 7 small icebergs in which you can swim between and stand on to fire your arrow. To start the fight, shoot the gong that is on the centre iceberg. The boss only has one direct attack and that is it jumps up out of the water and tries to land on to top of you. If you are underneath where he lands, you will be killed immediately, and if you are on an iceberg, you will be knocked away and the iceberg destroyed. After three of these jumps, the boss will then hide underwater and shoot lightning through the water which will kill you if you are in the water when it happens. 2 icebergs will then respawn (if there is room for them) and the pattern starts all over.

The bosses weak point is the end of its tail. In order to hit it with your arrow, you must avoid his jumping attack and then correctly time a shot once he is re-entering the water. After you have activated the gong to start the fight, go out into the water between two icebergs. You are trying to get the boss to jump to where you are, but not near enough that it destroys the iceberg you are near. Once you are sure it has committed to the jump location, quickly swim to the nearby iceberg and fire your arrow at the bosses tail. If timed correctly, you will hit his weak spot and defeat him.

Mushroom

The mushroom boss has two main attack patterns. The first is a forward leap which it performs three times in a row. Each time he boss hits the ground 4 projectiles will be fired diagonally outwards. These spores cannot be touched until they disintegrate after a short distance.

After the three initial forward leaps, the boss with rapidly jump up and down on the spot firing more spores alternating diagonally and horizontally/vertically. At this point, the boss will also rotate quickly which will expose the weak spot on it’s stalk. Watch for the oncoming projectiles and fire your arrow when the weak spot is facing you.

Throughout the boss fight, you will want to make sure you are continuously rolling/running as the the leap attack can easily squash and kill you if you aren’t moving quick enough. Keep a look out for the spores as well as you will die if you touch a solid one, so try keep as great a distance from the boss as possible.

Vinethesis

This boss has two two main attack patterns. The first is swinging around its 4 vines and slamming them down on the ground. If you touch these at any point you will die. After three slams of its vines, the direction in which they are spinning will change. At the same time, the boss will emit a poison cloud that will slowly follow you around the level. It won’t kill you straight away, but just be sure not to hang around inside it for too long.

If you stay against the bottom wall of the area, you will be safe from the bosses vines and this will allow you to quickly shoot the vines off the boss and allow to gain easier access to its weak spot. Watch the boss and its weak eye, and when it starts to inhale, shoot your arrow into its mouth and then start pulling back on the arrow. Return to the bottom area of the level and one of the large petals of the boss will fold down revealing its inner weak spot. Shoot your arrow into this part of the boss to defeat it.

Mask

This boss has a single attack pattern. He fires a waves of projectiles in groups starting at 3 on the left wall and increasing to 8 going around the walls clockwise. They spread out in a fan like motion, so the further you are standing away from him the easier they are to avoid.

The boss will face you the entire fight as his weak spot is located on his back. As such, the only way to defeat him is via pulling your arrow towards him. The boss has a 100% set pattern which enables you to beat him within a few seconds on the fight starting. To do this, stand on the boss’s right side and fire your arrow directly toward the right wall. Leave the arrow just to his right hand side then move over to the left hand wall across from the arrow. Pull the arrow toward you and upon touching him with it, the fight will begin. Once the fight has begun, he will jump towards you. At this point pull back your arrow to return it to you, and if done quickly enough, you will hit the boss after he lands before he hits you and the fight will be over.

Lava Blob

This boss has two attack patterns which you must use against herself in order to expose her weakness and defeat her.

Her first attack pattern involves a spray of fire which will land on the ground and then she will suck back towards herself. If you touch these at any point, you will die. Her second attack involves her shooting a single large bomb that will land on the ground and will only detonate once the fire she shoots touches it.

In order to expose her weak spot, you must detonate the bomb with her fire spray when she is close by. To do this, shoot your arrow into her mouth when her mouth is open. Once you do this, you can pull her towards yourself at any time. Use this to your advantage by pulling her close to the bomb in which she throws at you. The boss is normally always trying to move away from you, so if you can get it to jump once closer to the bomb by running around it so that it jumps toward the bomb. It will attempt to jump away from the bomb on the next bounce though, so this is when you want to try and pull it toward the bomb to cause it to detonate. Once the bomb detonates with her close by you, have a short period of time to regather your arrow and then shoot the large crystal inside of her which is her weak spot.

Skull

The skull has three main attack patterns. The first is a slam of its spike arms which it then pulls itself toward you with. He will continue to this attack attack indefinitely unless you run around behind it. Once you get behind him and start to face the weak spot on his back, it will spin to face you a total of three times, and after the third time he will begin his second main attack which is a spinning attack. This attack involves the boss performing rapid spins towards you whilst slamming his spiked arms on the ground. His third and final attack always follows the spinning attack. The boss jumps into the air and triggers fire being emitted from all of the numerous holes in the ground. Be sure to avoid standing on one of these at this time.

The easiest way to expose the weak spot on the back of the boss is to get the boss to perform his spinning attack. Once his spinning attack begins, move as far away from him as you can and get ready to fire your arrow. Once the weak spot rotates to face you, fire your arrow to defeat him.

Guardian

This titan is basically a copy of the broken statue guardian from the first area of the game. It tries to slam it’s fists down on you on the same side as the side of the area you are standing, as well as firing lasers at you in different patterns. The difference with this boss though is that you need to get it to trigger the switches on the ground at the same time by slamming it’s fists onto them to expose it’s weak spot, which is the spot in the middle of it’s chest.

There is a fairly easy pattern you can follow to kill this boss, which works for both normal play and no roll mode. Once you enter the area, move up to the left above the stairs just enough that it triggers the boss fight (the boss is triggered by proximity, not by hitting it with your arrow). Once it is triggered, move to the left once it’s fist moves to hit you, then up through the left switch then to the right as it’s hand lands, triggering the switch. Once you move to the right, head past the right fist and just outside the arc of where the laser is sweeping so that the fist lands behind you. Then move up towards the right switch and run through the middle of it to the right so that the fist lands on it, triggering the switch. At this point, both switches are active and will trigger the opening of the titan’s weak point. As this is happening, its fists will quickly try to hit you with two quick drops and then a longer drop, which is when you want to hit the weak point. Once the switch has been triggered, start heading up around the fists to the top, rolling out of the way of the fists. Once you are close enough to the weak point (not directly in front of it), you need to very quickly shoot the pink spot in the middle to hit it and kill it.

This below video shows the general pattern that can be used to defeat the boss, done in no roll mode.

[ame]

[/ame]

The Soul

The Soul is the final boss of the game, and acts as a doppelganger of sorts to your character. It is the same size and attacks by shooting an arrow at you. At the same time it shoots the arrow, it also releases four homing balls that travel away from the point of release for a short time, then start tracking on your position. The boss will also attempt to grab your arrow if you leave it on the ground for too long and then shoot it back at you, ricocheting around the area in a similar fashion to the Knight Titan’s arrow attack.

This boss sticks to a fairly standard pattern at the start of the fight that you can use to beat it fairly easily. At the start, move forward and shoot your arrow at it to trigger the fight then pull it back immediately. Move down and to the left, and the boss will somewhat follow you, moving down and to the right. He will shoot his arrow, so at this point you can either dodge upwards or shoot it with your arrow to deflect it. Whichever you choose, after he shoots his arrow, start moving upward until it is about to shoot it’s arrow again, at which point you should dodge to the right to avoid it. Now that you are in the middle, stop and start aiming your arrow. The boss will almost always warp it’s body up towards the right, at which time you want to hit it with your arrow to kill it. When it warps in this fashion is the only time you can kill it, as the body that separates from the glowing soul form is the weak spot. If you miss the shot after this first warp, the bosses pattern becomes more erratic and harder to predict, so it is normally easiest to kill it right at the first warp as it will almost always do the same thing if you do the previously explained steps.

DAMMIT! When I saw that you were posting a guide I tried to sneak in for the c-c-c-combo breaker :p

Looking good guys, I'm actually doing my no-roll mode so I'll be sure to use this.

Edit: Alright, who suggested the mimic for no-roll. Is it even possible to avoid his second jump? Cause my 10 attempts are saying otherwise :p

Guide looks good :)

For Knight Elhanan, you can roll to avoid getting stunned by the electric. Saw so many people in streams not doing it, so don't think it is well known. For him though, I always sat by the door and let him shoot the arrow. It went off screen, and came back towards me. You have to be quick but you can shoot the arrow here and then it gives you a guaranteed shot at the boss. Letting the arrow come to a stand still seemed too random for me as he was always too far away :/

Mimic isn't hard once you know his attack pattern. He will fire coins into the air then disappear and try and squash you. He then does two small jumps and as soon as he has done the second turn around and fire your arrow at him. You should kill him just before he has time to shoot his coin. Just be sure to keep moving the whole time.

Yeah the night is hard even on Normal playthrough if you don't have a plan going into the fight. The strategy you suggested works quite well. I'll probably use it on my Hard Iron mode playthrough. Thanks for all the videos as well Harry :)

yahhhh after I posted I tried a new strategy: running in a straight line. Seemed to work alright for me

Apparently not, as I've (basically) platinumed the game and hadn't figured that out. :p

I'm trying out that standing by the door thing right now.

Don't touch the knight on your hard iron mode run :francis:

Too risky and annoying to get right, there are easier bosses than him :D

Any further tips against Gol Set's no roll boss battle? I've watched several vids and read the guide but I'm having the following problem - I can dodge the fists (in a slightly different way to the vid - I have to have move straight down after dodging the fist which hits the second switch). As a result I think I'm ending up a bit far away from the boss to hit him as my arrows always seem to just fall short of hitting the bosses weak spot.

Sounds like you're doing everything right, its just about getting the right amount of power when you fire your arrow. Don't be afraid to hold the arrow that extra bit longer to get the power you need.

That worked like a charm. Any tips on the final boss (the Soul) as I'm trying the following but its not working:

Trigger the boss battle and start moving to the bottom left - aim arrow to counter his. I'm toying around with either pulling in my arrow (which pulls his toward me as well, altering his movement) or just manually walking over the arrow which doesn't alter his movement as much.

Move upward until he fires his second arrow. At this point I'm stumped because:

Am I supposed to evade his second shot (which seems very hit or miss), counter it with my arrow (which seems to slow me down enough which makes it impossible to hit his weakspot) and even if I dodge I don't seem to be in a good position to be able to hit the weakspot anyway. Any tips on how to streamline my approach? Or a vid if possible, I checked one out on Youtube but can't replicate the method to beating him.
