Don't go alone... trophy

Anyone know if you can do this by just adding a 2nd local player at the end of each level instead of having to play the whole level with 2 people? I've already completed the story with a friend online but he was host so I didn't get the trophy. We were just going to play again with me as host but I don't really want to make him have to go through the whole story with me again if I can help it.

Not really liking these host only trophies, I've already played through the popit academy as well and I'm having to do that again because I wasn't host.

Pretty sure it has to be the whole level.

I did it all with a 2nd controller and only a couple of levels posed problems but easy enough to overcome.

You can track it by checking and filtering the scoreboard by 2 players offline and seeing if you are registered on every level.

I asked basically the same question in the Trophy Guide, but of course no one would actually know since that would be a lot of hassle turning on the second controller at the end of the level then off again for EVERY level...Our method that I'm gonna try at some point is to do all levels but one with two controllers 'in' the whole time, then complete the last one doing what both you and I were wondering would - if that makes sense. Like I also said in the Guide, it will take me a while, but if it works, I'll be posting it in Guide thread :)

the question i have is:

what in the world is the qualification for the game to recognize that you've cleared a level with another player?

because in every one of the required adventure levels, i appear with the account i used with my second controller, and i still have not gotten the trophy when i check the scoreboards.

can someone post a photo of what it's supposed to look like??

So I did 19 levels where I played the entire level with a second controller. Then on the 20th level, a level that I had never even partially done with a second controller, I went to the last checkpoint, connected the controller, finished the level, and got the trophy. So there ya go.

Perfect, so the test I laid out in the guide turned out to work. I'll have to update the guide here later mentioning that.

Well that well and truly shoots my theory down :p

Shame you can't track as many trophies through the pins like you could in LBP2.

going to try the controller at the end at some point. i just have to figure out which levels weren't "completed" with 2 players since each adventure level in my game registers that 2 players have completed the level.

edit: finally got the trophy - there were about 4 levels that i needed to replay.

Apologies, I haven't been very clear. What I mean is that when you have 2 controllers on, go to the adventure story level and press the square button, my name appears above the line with the scores on all but 2 levels. I assume where the other name appears above the line, they have been the host. After replaying these levels on a number of times, I still cannot appear above the line? Not sure whether this makes sense?

I have no idea as I have never played the levels with 2 controllers, but many others have. Hopefully one of them will be able to see this and help you.

Oh man, thanks for pointing this out. It's a pretty obscure method, but it saves me a lot of hassle having to replay about the half levels I know I've already completed with a second player!

the one caveat here is that the game doesn't distinguish between completed with 2 players or just played briefly with 2 players (i.e. the x2 sections) - it'll register as two players completed regardless. i had to replay about 4 levels because of that (i had skipped the levels where it had registered two players thinking that the game actually kept proper track).

If attempting offline with a second controller, does the second player have to survive until the end?

For example, some levels there is no way I can get the second player to survive and I run out of lives

UPDATE: I can confirm the second player can use up all lives and the trophy will still pop

I have a score in each main level for two players in adventure levels and i didn't get the get alone trophy.

What should I do?

the only thing you can really do is try to figure out which levels weren't finished with two players. the extra problem being that there's no actual way to discern which levels those are because it registers as being completed even if you, say, signed in a second controller to do one of the X2 areas, and then signed the controller out immediately afterwards.

This is the only trophy I have left so is it correct that I have to collect prize bubbles again and is it ok to have the 2nd controller lag behind and die does it need to be alive at the end ?

You do not need to collect prize bubble and yes, you can let the second player be left behind (as well as letting them die at the end), but it can be a real pain at times, trying to move forward while the second player holds you back - thankfully my brother played with me for about 80% of Story (on a different playthrough) just because he was bored. I guess you could say I used him :p
