This is the first rugby union game in two years since Rugby Challenge 2. HB Studios have not developed a rugby union game since Rugby World Cup 2011. The game is unlicensed, meaning that although you will find all the familiar teams you will not find any players you recognise. It should be noted that in terms of rugby games, the gameplay mechanics and graphics are not as good as previous rugby titles. Often the game feels sluggish and slow and the controls are sometimes non-responsive (particularly on the Vita), so please factor this in when going for your trophies. If you are unfamiliar with Rugby video games, or even Rugby in general then please read this post for a brief overview of the rules. A glossary is also provided as you may not be familiar with many terms and expressions mentioned throughout the Guide. In regards to the trophy list, if you are somewhat familiar with Rugby and previous rugby games, then you are looking at a quick and easy Platinum. You will need to play the majority of matches on Hard difficulty. However, this does not pose much of a challenge as you can simply play as a high ranked team against a low ranked team (all except for Serious Rugger ). All game mode or tournament related trophies can be obtained through simulating matches, which will save you a lot of time on the Platinum. Please refer to the Trophy Guide and the walkthrough below for more information. http://i.imgur.com/5JcHzx3.png General Tips: All trophies can obtained in any order. The below walkthrough is a guide, especially if you are unfamiliar with rugby games. All tournament related trophies can be obtained through simulating matches. This will drastically reduce the amount of time for platinum. Refer to the respective trophy descriptions for more information. We suggest manually playing the final matches though as winning these through simulation may not always work as you will be playing similar ranked teams. You can earn these trophies by selecting all teams (or as many as you feel comfortable with) in the competition as the human-controlled team, and simulating all the matches. Selecting 12 teams takes roughly 20 minutes to simulate the whole competition. You can do as many or as little as you feel comfortable with. Naturally, we suggest choosing the higher ranked teams if you want only a few teams to simulate. As long as a team you have selected wins the competition, the trophy will unlock. If you have a boost controller, this will make simulating matches a lot easier because you do not have to press yourself. Simply select as the repeated button and navigate to 'Simulate Match' and tape it down. As long as is taped down, the whole competition will continue to be simulated. Unless otherwise stated, playing on Easy will make specific trophies a lot easier. There are a few that will require you to play on Hard difficulty, which is the hardest difficulty in the game. Unless the trophy description states otherwise, playing as a high ranked team such New Zealand against a low ranked team such as Namibia will make all miscellaneous Hard related trophies much easier to obtain. Most trophies can be obtained whilst playing a match with a short half length (such as 5 or 10 minutes) but if you are struggling to meet the requirements within this time frame, then set the match length to longer as trophies related to specific actions will unlock upon completion, you do not need to wait for the match to finish. You can adjust player settings to improve a specific team. There is a reset feature for when you are finished and need to reset any adjustments you have made. From the main menu go: Options > Edit Player and choose the team you wish to adjust. Now select the player you wish to adjust and under Attributes, move their skills for each attribute. Warning! This game is extremely buggy. Due to this bugginess, some trophies may not unlock correctly, and that the best way to resolve this is to reset the game settings, and failing that restart the console or reinstall the game. Step 1 (optional): Familiarising yourself with controls and gameplay Even if you are familiar with rugby games or rugby in general, it is recommended you play a friendly match to familiarise yourself with the controls and gameplay mechanics. Alternatively have a quick look at the Tutorial section on the main menu of the screen. You may also unlock some trophies from Step 4 (and Step 2 if you play on Hard) during this introductory match. Step 2: Hard mode and miscellaneous trophies You need to play at least 10 matches against the CPU on Hard. During these matches you also need to focus on a few miscellaneous trophies that need be completed on Hard difficulty. None of these pose much of a challenge once you are familiar with the game and predominantly relate to performing certain things within a single match, such as obtaining a specific number of tries or conversions. All miscellaneous trophies will likely come through natural gameplay, but some may require some effort e.g. Serial Pest . By the end of this step you should unlock the following trophies:Break On Through Bonus Worthy With The Breeze Place Kick Perfection ( on PS Vita) Big Touch Finder Team Work (PS3 and PS4 only) Serial Pest Long Droppie 100 Metre Dash Best Behaviour Ruck Raider Serious Rugger Try Haul Winning Streak Step 3: Tournament and competition trophies You need to win 4 tournament titles (AVIVA Premiership, Top 14, Pro D2 and PRO12) and 1 Custom Cup competition title with 20 teams or more. All matches in all tournaments can be simulated if you wish, which will save you a lot of time as some tournaments involve up to 30 games. Refer to each respective trophy description for further information. By the end of this step you should unlock the following trophies:Premiership Top 14 Champs Pro D2 Champs Total PRO Customary Step 4: Clean-up This is the time to earn any trophies you may have missed in previous steps. Once you have unlocked all the other trophies, you will earn the Platinum:Trophy Tackler Edited September 7, 2017 by prozendaal Editorial Sweep. dcollins22
http://i.imgur.com/wsefQNS.png http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/3211/2fc.jpg Trophy Tackler Earn all Bronze, Silver and Gold Trophies As with any other Platinum, obtain all other Bronze , Silver and Gold trophies to obtain this trophy. Congratulations! http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/3211/3e8.jpg First Try Score a try This will likely be the first trophy you unlock. To score a try you must cross into the other team's goal line and touch the ball down by pressing either or ( on PS Vita). The easiest way to score a try is to give the ball to your backline (player numbers 9 to 15) and run around the outside of the other team's players. We suggest playing on Easy difficulty and play as a team with a high rank such as New Zealand against a team with a low rank, such as Namibia. This trophy will unlock shortly after you have scored the try. http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/3211/7ea.jpg Break On Through Run and score a try directly after breaking out of a tackle, vs CPU (Hard) For this trophy you must break through a tackle and score a try whilst playing on Hard difficulty. Breaking through a tackle simply means that a player on the opposite team tries to tackle you, but they are unsuccessful and you keep on running with the ball. There is no specific way to break through a tackle and there are no buttons that help you do so, it is completely random but luckily enough it happens very often. Just be sure to play as a high ranked team, such as New Zealand, against a low ranked team, such as Namibia. This will help you break through tackles as your players will be stronger and tougher than the opposition. This trophy will unlock shortly after you have scored the try. http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/3211/742.jpg Bonus Worthy Score four tries in a match, vs CPU (Hard) You must score 4 tries in a match against the CPU while playing on hard. See First Try and Break On Through for tips on how to score tries. Playing as a high ranked team such New Zealand, against a low ranked team such as Namibia will make this easier. http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/3211/0cf.jpg With The Breeze Score a penalty goal or conversion from 55+ metres, vs CPU (Hard) A penalty goal and a conversion involve kicking the ball off the ground between the goal posts and over the cross bar. A penalty goal can be awarded when the opposite team gives away a penalty and a conversion is awarded when you score a try. You must obtain one of the two from a distance of 55+ metres whilst playing against any opponent CPU team on Hard difficulty. Out of the two options, this trophy is easiest obtained from a conversion as you can choose the distance between where you kick the ball to the goal posts, where as a penalty goal can only be kicked from where you obtained a penalty. Once you score a try and are choosing the distance for your conversion, you will notice a distance indicator in the top right of the screen. Make sure this is at 55 metres before you take your kick. When taking a kick at goal you will need to factor in the wind speed and direction (represented in the top right corner of the screen), as well as the power of your kick. Tips: When kicking the ball you need to pull back on and once the meter at the bottom of the screen reaches the top in the green area you need to push forward forward on . The direction in which you push forward will affect the direction and trajectory of the ball. Play as a high ranked team as they will have a more accurate kicker, such as New Zealand. Turn wind to Random or High before starting the match as having the wind behind your back will greatly help in kicking the ball the required distance. http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/3211/83a.jpg Place Kick Perfection Score on 5 place kick attempts in a row during a match, vs CPU (Hard) Please note that this is a Silver trophy on the PS Vita. With The Breeze A place kick is required when you either score a try and are going for a conversion, or are attempting a penalty goal. For this trophy you must successfully score 5 place kicks (conversion and/or penalty goals) in a row without missing whilst playing on Hard difficulty against the CPU. Kicking a goal involves the use of the . You pull back to start the kick meter and then push forward when the meter is in the green area. The direction you move will determine the direction the ball will travel. There is no difference in the mechanics of place kicking between Hard and the lower difficulties. The challenge lies in having sufficient time and skill to score 5 tries and have 5 place kick attempts. Tips: Score your tries as close to the goal posts as possible to make each kick considerably easier. Turn wind off at the menu screen before starting the match as this will reduce the difficulty of each of your kicks. Play as a high ranked team against a low ranked team to ensure that you score plenty of tries so you will have 5 place kick attempts. Set the half length to at least 10 minutes to ensure sufficient time to score 5 tries. http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/3211/5ff.jpg Big Touch Finder Punt into touch for a territorial gain of 50+ metres For this trophy you must kick the ball into touch (i.e. over the sideline) 50+ metres from your current location. In order to kick the ball you must hold down and position your player with the to face the location/direction in which you want to kick the ball. The easiest way to obtain this trophy is when the opposite team kicks off to you or when you recover the ball following them kicking during play, as you have plenty of time and space to position yourself for the kick. The best players to kick the ball with are the flyhalf (player number 10) or the fullback (player number 15). Note: You must actually gain at least 50 metres of territory. What this means is that the ball must not go into touch on the full if the breakdown begins outside your own 22 metre zone. If the breakdown is outside it, you must land in the field of play and then bounce into touch. If not, you won't gain any metres because play will go back to where you kicked the ball from. http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/3211/60b.jpg Team Work Successful lineout throw by human-controlled players on same team Please note that this trophy does not exist in the PS Vita version, it is in the PS4 and PS3 releases because the PS Vita does not support multiple local players. You will require two controllers in order to obtain this trophy. A lineout is a set move that occurs when the ball is either kicked or carried over the sideline. When playing with two controllers, one player will be throwing the ball in and the other will be jumping in the lineout to catch it. This can easily be done with you controlling both controllers. Simply press to throw the ball in with one control and then press with the other controller to jump and catch it. You must successfully throw the ball and catch it to unlock the trophy. If you throw it in and either mis-time the jump and miss the ball, or the opponent team wins the lineout then you will not unlock the trophy. We advise playing on Easy difficulty as the opponent team are unlikely to jump and contest for the ball, which makes winning the lineout much easier. http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/3211/e17.jpg Long Droppie Score a drop goal from 40+ metres In order to perform a drop goal you press and hold whilst aiming the kick at the goal posts. In order to aim your kick, simply point the in the direction you wish the ball to travel. There is no arrow indicator on screen, you can only judge by the direction in which the player is moving/facing. Furthermore the longer you hold , the more power your kick will have and thus the further the kick will go. For this trophy you must obtain a drop goal from 40+ metres. When going for a drop goal you will need to have adequate space and time to execute the kick. If defending players are close by then they will tackle you before you get a chance to kick the ball. As such the best method of performing a drop goal is to run around the entire team and once clear of defenders line yourself up with the goal post running straight towards it and hold . Just make sure that you are at least 40 metres from the goal posts and that you are controlling a player that is good at kicking, i.e. the scrumhalf (player number 9), flyhalf (player number 10) or the fullback (player number 15). If the ball successfully goes over the cross bar between the goal posts then the trophy will unlock. Edited December 3, 2014 by Terminator Editorial Sweep. prozendaal
http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/3211/61b.jpg 100 Metre Dash Score a try after running the ball directly from behind your own goal line For this trophy you must score a try by running the full length of the field. That is, from your own goal line to the other team's goal line. This is most easily done on Easy difficulty whilst playing as a top ranked team, such as New Zealand, against a low ranked team, such as Namibia. Doing this will ensure your players do not get tired and slow down, and will give you a greater chance of breaking through tackles. This trophy will unlock shortly after you have scored the try. Method: Obtain the ball and run back into your own goal area. Pass the ball whilst in your goal area ( + for PS3 and PS4 and + for PS Vita) to one of the faster players, such as the wingers (player numbers 11 and 14) or the fullback (player number 15). Run towards the sideline to get around the other team's players and run towards the opposite end of the field. Once you reach the opponent team's goal area press or ( for PS Vita) to score a try. Note: In order for the trophy to count the player in which you score the try with must obtain the ball whilst in your own goal area. You cannot run back into your goal area and then run back out. As such, the best method to obtain this trophy would be to start from a breakdown near your own goal line. http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/3211/c52.jpg Best Behaviour Do not concede any penalty infringements in a match You must not concede any penalties during a match. You do not have to win the match, and you can play on any difficulty you like. We advise playing on Easy and setting the half lengths to 5 minutes, as the shorter the game, the less time you have to potentially concede a penalty. Please refer to Serial Pest for a list of ways in which penalties can be given in the game, just be sure to avoid performing these throughout the match. This trophy will unlock at the end of the match. http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/3211/6c6.jpg Ruck Raider Win 5 ruck turnovers in a match, vs CPU (Hard) In order to win a ruck turnover you must be the defending team and tackle the opposition player. Once a ruck has formed you must then win possession of the ball. To do this you need quickly add players to the ruck and push forward. This can be done by pushing forward on the on the PS3 and PS4 ( for PS Vita). Once the meter next to the ruck turns green you must then press (or ) to win the ball and take possession of it. If you take too long the opposition will keep possession of the ball. Alternatively, if you are too quick and press (or ) before the meter is green, i.e. when it is red or yellow, you will penalised and the opposing team will receive a penalty. After winning a ruck turnover, simply give the ball back to the opposing team by kicking it and repeat it again. Once you have successfully won 5 ruck turnovers, the trophy will unlock. The image below shows the green bar and indicates that you can now press (or ) to win the ball: http://i.imgur.com/mtx8ukb.png http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/3211/77b.jpg Serious Rugger Win a match against an international team rated 90+, vs CPU (Hard) This will likely be the most difficult trophy in the game. However, you should not have any troubles with it once you are familiar with the gameplay mechanics. New Zealand is the only team in the game that has a ranking of 90+. As such, you must play and defeat them on Hard difficulty. Feel free to use whatever team you like, but we suggest playing as New Zealand as well since they are the highest ranked team. It does not matter what length you set the match to but to ensure that you give yourself plenty of time to score points, we suggest setting the half lengths to 10 minutes. Tips: Keep possession of the ball. By holding on to the ball, you will limit the possibility of the other team scoring points. Do not give away penalties. The opposition team will kick penalty goals from anywhere in your half which will award them with 3 easy points. Contest every breakdown. Get the ball out of the ruck as quick as you can to reduce the chance of the opposition stealing it. inmate101 suggests an alternative method. Go to Options > Edit Player > New Zealand and put Speed, Acceleration, Strength and Tackle for all the starting players (numbers 1 through 15) to 0. The team will still have a rank of 90 overall, which allows you to beat them easily with another high-ranked team such as France, Australia or England. http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/3211/7af.jpg Try Haul Score 10 tries in a match, vs CPU (Hard) (5 or 10 min halves) You must score 10 tries in a match against the CPU while playing on hard with 5 or 10 minute halves. See First Try and Break On Through for tips on how to score tries. Playing as a high ranked team, such as New Zealand, against a low ranked team, such as Namibia, will make this easier. http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/3211/287.jpg Winning Streak Win 10 matches in a row, vs CPU (Hard) as the lead controller Glitch Note: The trophy may not unlock at 10 matches. For us it unlocked once we had won 3 consecutive matches so as such, the trophy may be bugged in a good way. However, there are reports of it not unlocking after 10 matches and having to repeat the 10 wins. For this trophy you must win 10 consecutive matches on Hard difficulty against the CPU. You must do this in one sitting, as if you turn off the console the count will restart and you will need to start over. It does not matter what length of game you play. For time's sake though, we suggest playing on 5 minute halves. Furthermore, playing as a high ranked team such as New Zealand, against a low ranked team such as Namibia will ensure you have the highest possibility of winning the match. The only settings you want to take note of are the number of teams (minimum 20) and the teams category. We advise to select the 'Any Teams' option as this will make the tournament a lot easier and will allow you to simulate every match with higher chance of winning. Once you advance to the next screen you can change what teams are in the tournament, and you can also select the team which you want to control. Make sure you select a high ranked team as the human controlled team, such as New Zealand, and ensure that all remaining teams have a low ranking, such as those below 70 (there is an adequate selection of teams in the game to ensure that all 19 other teams are rated below 70). Once all matches have been simulated or played and you win the Custom Cup, the trophy will unlock. http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/3211/431.jpg Serial Pest Get awarded two yellow and/or red cards in a match Players in your team will be awarded a yellow card (10 minutes in the sin bin) or a red card (sent off for the game) for giving away multiple penalties throughout the match. You must be awarded one of each or two of the same card within a single match. It does not have to be the same player that gets awarded the card, your team just needs to be awarded any two during the course of a single match. A penalty can be awarded for various infringements in the game, including: Being offside at the breakdown. The image below shows the meter coloured yellow. This indicates that you have not yet won possession of the ball and if you press (or ) you will give away a penalty for either foul play or hands in the ruck. http://i.imgur.com/krnQSio.png Purposefully collapsing the maul or scrum (by pressing during a maul or scrum) Tackling a player who does not have possession of the ball Unfortunately, there is no specific or consistent infringement that will award you with a yellow or red card. As such, this trophy requires a decent amount of luck. What you will want to do is repeatedly give away penalties throughout the entire match and hope the referee awards you a yellow or red card. To make this slightly easier, we suggest setting the half lengths to a minimum of 10 minutes, this should ensure an adequate amount of time to receive the two yellow and/or red cards then the trophy will unlock at the end of the match. prozendaal
Glossary of terms: Breakdown: The breakdown is term given to the short period of play following the tackling of a player with the ball. During this period, both teams fight for possession over the ball as a ruck or maul is formed. Conversion: When a team scores a try that can convert it (i.e. add an additional 2 points) by kicking the ball between the posts and over the centre crossbar. The kick is taken from inline of where the try was scored. Drop Goal: A drop goal is scored when a player kicks the ball through the goal posts and over the cross bar during normal running play, i.e. it is not a conversion or a penalty goal. The players drops the ball and kicks it following a single bounce on the ground. This is known as a drop-kick. If successful the team is awarded 3 points. Kick-off/Restart: A kick-off is the process which begins the game or restarts it following the scoring of points. One team must drop-kick the ball a minimum of 10 metres from the halfway point of the field. Line-out: A line-out is a set play where a player throws the ball in from the sideline down the middle of two lines of players. Each team is on one side of the lineout, depending on which end they are trying to score at. Players then jump and/or lift their players into the air to win possession of the ball. Maul: A maul is where the player carrying the ball (who must be on their feet) is held by one or more opponents, and one or more of the ball carrier's team mates bind onto the ball carrier. Both teams try to push the other backwards. Offside: A player is deemed offside when they are on the opposing team's side of the offside line. This can happen during the breakdown or a set play. On the full: the ball is kicked into touch (i.e. over the sideline) before bouncing or landing in the field of play. Penalty: A penalty is awarded to a team when the opposing team performs a serious infringement. This can include tackling a player to high, being offside, or another type of foul play. The team awarded the penalty can elect to kick the ball for goal, take a tap kick and play on, have a scrum or kick the ball for touch. Ruck: A ruck is formed at a breakdown when two or more opposing players meet over the ball. They most often form after tackles when each time fight for the ball. Scrum: A scrum is a set play where eight players (almost always the forwards, i.e. player numbers 1 to 8) from each team bind together and push against one another. The team with the ball then puts the ball between them and the players use their feet to hook the ball back to their side, whilst simultaneously trying to push the opposition backwards. Set play: A set play is a collective term for a scrum, lineout, and a free tap kick. Tackle: A tackle is when a player successfully grabs onto another player who is in possession of the ball and brings them to the ground. Touch: Touch is the area outside the field of play including the side lines. It is defined by the two long sides of the playing field. Try: A try is the primary method of scoring points in rugby. A try is scored when a player places the ball on the ground with downward pressure in the opposing team's goal area. A try is worth 5 points. Tries can be converted for two extra points. The video below by the AFP news agency gives a short introduction to the rules of rugby union, as well as the role and description of each of the players in the team. prozendaal
Hi, I have a problem with this trophy : Winning Streak I don't know how to do this one. I play on friendly match but I don't know if I must quit this game and play another same one or restart this game. Thanks for your answers You can do either. Some games I restarted and others I went back to the main menu. The main things to be aware of are that you don't quit the game or play a game on a lower difficulty during your 10 matches, because both of these will reset the counter. Hope that helped. Feel free to post here, or contact myself or dcollins22 if you have any more questions.

prozendaal
I keep getting a penalty against me for failing to release the ball. Any tips for when I'm entering my ruck? (Playing Vita) I had similar problems when playing on Hard mode. What I would do is release the ball as soon as I went into the tackle, wait half a second and then compete for the ball. I found that if I delayed too long in releasing, or competed for the ball too soon after releasing, I would be penalised. Alternatively, if I didn't feel confident enough that I would be able to win the ruck back, I would release the ball and let the opposition win it. They would then run straight at my line, which is when I would win possession back. Hope this helped. If you have any more questions feel free to reply there, or you can flick either myself or dcollins22 a message.

Dino_Roar
All done now. Initially struggled to get Big Touch Finder but went into edit teams/players and moved all of New Zealand's players stats to 100 kicking & kicking power. This way it didn't matter what player the ball fell too. Enjoyable overal and easily a one day . Going to do it on the other platforms too. Will give it a run guide looks good so should be a nice run to the .... I hope EDIT: Sad times got the (thanks for the guide) but it seems this is not on the Sony servers still unable to sync the PS4 version.. As a side note on the PS4 version anyway for all cup related trophies just pick every team in the comp sim every game all cup trophies unlock after the final game did not have to play a single cup game. Jaglee
Got the plat on PS4. Thanks for guide. I'd like to add, the trophy where you require two controllers can be made even easier if you had three. Have two controllers on one team and the other on the opposing. That way, you will win all of your lineouts.

Dino_Roar
Does anyone know how to view the trophies already done on the PS4? Due to the fact you cannot sync yet I don't know how to view them.
Terminator
Does anyone know how to view the trophies already done on the PS4? Due to the fact you cannot sync yet I don't know how to view them. On the PS4 your trophies can only be viewed when you're signed in but since this list doesn't sync, you're stuck playing the guessing game as to what you have and haven't unlocked .
