Roadmap

Overview:

  • Estimated trophy difficulty: 2/10 (Personal Rating) (poll)
  • Offline trophies: 20 (19(B), 1(S))
  • Online trophies: None
  • Approximate amount of time to 100%: 8-10 hours (poll)
  • Minimum number of playthroughs: 1
  • Number of missable trophies: None
  • Glitched trophies: None
  • Does difficulty affect trophies?: No

Introduction:

Welcome to Child of Light, a charming game with a fairy tale that is told in rhyme. I guarantee a joyful time, as your adventure will take flight. The art style is a wonderful treat for the eyes, but when made by the same developers as Rayman Legends, it comes as no surprise. While this game is certainly JRPG-inspired, it loses all of the lengthy grinds, of which we are all tired. So join Aurora on her journey through a fantasy land, where side-scrolling and turn-based combat have joined hand-in-hand.

Kick back and enjoy this game, played with your controller, you’ll find it to be a nice change of pace, where there are no…um…steam rollers? Okay, let’s move on…

Unfortunately, the PlayStation versions of this game have a good number of trophies cut from it compared to the Xbox achievement list, meaning there are less trophies to earn and no platinum. On the other hand, the trophies that aren't included, the oculi trading trophy for example, means that it is a lot simpler to achieve 100% and it will also require less time.

Walkthrough

Step 1:

Play through the game on your chosen difficulty and enjoy the experience. There are no missable trophies so you won't have to worry about that and can just enjoy the game. Anything you don't have by the end can be done post-game.

In this step you will earn the following trophies:

-Comedy (B)

-Capilli Catch (B)

-Sweet Sister (B)

-Bolmus Bond (B)

-Kategida Kindred (B)

-Piscean Promise (B)

-Tragedy (B)

-Tenth Birthday (B)

-Star Catcher (B)

-Over the Moon (B)

-Sunrise (B)

-Coronation (S)

Step 2:

This step is used to clean up any miscellaneous trophies that you might have missed, like collecting any remaining Confessions or finishing Lemurian quests, but you will probably have most of them by now anyway.

-Master Oculist (B)

-Scene Stealer (B)

-Showstopper (B)

-Winged Fury (B)

-Explorer (B)

-Perfect Sonnet (B)

-Grassroots (B)

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2717/e04.jpg Tenth Birthday (B)

Achieve level 10 with Aurora.

Levels increase by earning experience, which is earned by defeating enemies in battle. Just fight enemies that you come across and it shouldn’t take you long to get it. I achieved level 10 during Chapter 3.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2717/9cc.jpg Perfectionist (B)

Upgrade a skill to its highest level.

Each party member has their own set of abilities that can be unlocked and upgraded in the skill menu. To unlock skills you must first level up and earn skill points to do so.

Each ability has 3 stages, shown by having either 1, 2, or 3 stars above it. As you make your way through the skill tree you will come across stronger versions of the abilities you already have. Unlike everything else, 3-star abilities cost 2 skill points. Once you unlock your first 3-star ability, the trophy will pop.

This cannot be achieved before progressing through the story up to the point where you recover the moon (see Over the Moon for more details), because a lot of the skill tree is blank and isn’t unlocked until this point in the game. This includes every 3-star ability.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2717/ded.jpg Master Oculist (B)

Craft Oculi.

An Oculi is an item that you can equip onto characters' weapons and other equipment in order to improve them in some way. Oculi’s can be found in coffers that are opened by shining Igniculus over them with :l2: for a few seconds or the coffers that are opened by Aurora with :square:. They can also be dropped by enemies. In the pause menu, there is another menu called “Oculi”; go into this menu and choose “Craft Oculi”. In order to do this, you must have at least 2 other Oculi’s that you can fuse together to create a brand new one. Add the 2 Oculi to the crafting wheel then press the centre to create it, when that is done the trophy will pop.

Note that not every Oculi can be fused together, you will have to find a combination that works.

Example: Rough Ruby + Rough Sapphire = Rough Amethyst

For more information on crafting oculi, see Maka's Crafting Guide.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2717/dca.jpg Scene Stealer (B)

Execute 3 Surprise Strikes.

Surprise strikes are initiated when you engage an enemy from behind, like a pre-emptive attack. Move Igniculus over an enemy and hold :l2: to make him shine, this will cause enemies to become inactive and give you a chance to move behind them and start the battle that way. Do this a total of 3 times and the trophy is yours.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2717/e05.jpg Showstopper (B)

Interrupt 3 foes at the same time.

Interruptions are caused by attacking an enemy whilst they are in the “casting” phase and are about to attack you. All you have to do is attack an enemy whilst they are in that red area and it will interrupt their attack. There is an element of timing to this as all 3 enemies will have to be in the casting phase at the same time as you, as well as you needing to be able to attack them first. You can use Igniculus to shine on enemies to slow them down. Obviously the trophy requires you to do it to all 3 at the same time, meaning that you will have to use an attack that hits all enemies rather than just one.

The best way to go about this is to get into a battle with 3 of the same enemy type, this is because they will all have the same speed stats and will progress along the line together at all times, making it easier to get the timing right. Don't use Igniculus on them and don't use any slow down abilities on just one enemy. The abilities that this can be done with are listed below.

The abilities you can use for this trophy are:

Aurora - Slash (All), Starlight (All)

Rubella - Tumble (All)

Tristis - Tumble (All)

Finn - Wildfire (All), Monsoon (All), Lightning Strike (All)

Robert - Rain Arrows, Hinder (All)

Óengus - Kategida Cleave (All), Quake (All)

Gen - Slow Strike (All)

Golem - Smash (All)

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/2717/0a8.jpg Winged Fury (B)

Devastate 5 foes.

Devastate is essentially overkill. On the finishing hit against an enemy, if it does a large amount of damage compared to how much HP it has left, then it will result in devastation. Do this 5 times and the trophy will pop.

Find and open 30 coffers.

Coffers are the item chests of this game, they do the same thing as every other RPG which is give you items of some sort. There is a total of 310 coffers in the entire game and luckily this only requires you to open 30 of them, which is done very easily.

There are two types of coffers in the game; one type is the coffers that just look like any regular old chest, they are opened with Aurora by pressing :square: in front of them. The other type of coffer looks like a floating blue orb, they are found in the sky and places that can only be reached by moving Igniculus with :rs: and are mainly accessible after gaining the ability to fly. They can also only be opened by using Igniculus to shine on for a few seconds by holding :l2: over them.

You come across a lot of them throughout the game so don’t worry about it too much.

Collect all Confessions.

Confessions are letters that are found floating around in the game, you must collect all 16 of them for this trophy. You can redeem something to help with this from Uplay for 40 points, it tells you how many confessions there are in each area in the game and how many you have collected in each area. I recommend getting it if you are able as keeping track of which ones you have can save time.

[spoiler=confessionguide]Mahthildis Forest: 5 Confessions

Old Monastery (Confession #1) – At the end of Chapter 2, just after gaining the ability to fly, you will fly out of the Old Monastery through the roof. Just after flying out of there, there will be a confession floating in the sky above.

Left of Altar (Confession #5) – During Chapter 3 you are told to go back to where you started; at the altar. Make your way back to there and keep going left, you are now able to access this area because you can fly. Fly up through there and keep going up, there will be a confession floating around here just above the entrance to the Tree of Thorns.

Tree of Thorns (Confession #8) – Just after you leave the Tree of Thorns through the left side, there is a small tree that you can fly above. There is confession floating just above the tree.

Capilli Village Well (Confession #3) – During Finn’s quest to save the villagers you will go into a well. Go through the area until you reach a large open space near the end of the area. The confession is floating near the top right of the open space. This is just before the boss fight.

Left of Capilli Village (Confession #6) – After completing Finn’s quest and rescuing the villagers, go left into the forest. Go through to the end of the area to arrive at the entrance for the Plains of Rambert. Go back a little bit back into the small cavern you just passed through and go up in the direction of the gust of wind, when you come out at the top there will be a confession floating about on the right.

Plains of Rambert – 3 Confessions

Windwheels (Confession #7) – Just after Norah joins your party, you will be in another open area with broken railroad tracks. There will be a confession floating around this area.

Windwheels (Confession #2) – In the same area as Confession #7, go to the bottom left into a cavern. Go past the set of spikes and you will come to a set of doors. Make your way through the mine type area and solve the puzzles on the way to gain access to the bottom right room that contains 4 coffers, there is a confession floating in here.

Inside Magna (Confession #9) – During Chapter 6 you will go inside the body of a giant golem. Not long after entering you will come across the golems heart which Aurora will speak about. From this part, fly down until you see a crevice on the left with lava and two fire balls that spit out, the confession will be here.

Cliffs of Eren – 4 Confessions

Before the Temple of the Moon (Confession #15) – Just before the area where you find Tristis, there is a part to the left with two waterfalls and wind, the confession is floating around there.

Forgotten Tower (Confession #4) – Just after starting Chapter 8, move through the area until you come to open area with a large, dead tree in the background. The confession is floating above.

Forgotten Tower (Confession #14) – After Óengus has joined your party for good, you exit the castle to the right. When you get outside you can fly up and there is a confession floating around, just before the boss fight against Cordelia/Crepusculum.

Mirror (Confession #10) – During Chapter 7 you will be making your way to the mirror, when you reach it the confession should be floating somewhere above.

Cynbel Sea – 4 Confessions

Piscean Village (Confession #11) - After reaching the village and meeting Gen, continue going right until you reach one of those peculiar shrines that apparently used to be a sign. Fly above this area and the confession should be floating somewhere in the strong winds.

The Gate of the Sun (Confession #13) – Once entering the tower that was being guarded, go right until you see a path in the ground with a large crystal sticking out of it. Go down the path a keep going left until you reach a large generator that is sending electricity through the crystal. From there, keep going left and you when reach a dark, open area. Start going down and left until you get to a group of water currents going down, the confession should be in this area.

The Gate of the Sun (Confession #16) – Just after Confession #13, keep going to the left and you will come to a fountain, the type of fountain where Aurora checks up on her father. After this, go left and you will come to a boss fight. Defeat the boss then fly above and there should be a confession floating around.

The Temple of the Sun (Confession #12) - When you are making your way through this area you will eventually come to a room where Nox is. Nox will speak to you then fly off, when you resume playing the confession is automatically given to you.

Awesome guide dude! Just installed my copy and ready to play it in a bit. The trophies seem very straight forward so I can just focus on the game without having to worry about trophies. :D

Haha, cheers. It's nice to play through a game every once in awhile where there are no worries, especially one like this :p

Nice guide :) This game comes out today for my location and I am going to play it on both PS3 and PS4, a bit upset with the less trophies then Xbox achievements but what can we do about that.

Was going to give it a run through first tonight but so glad to see a guide for the things that I do miss.

i might have had a trophy glitch on me? i met rubella and she joined my party, but no trophy popped. when exactly is the trophy unlocked? i have been fighting with her in my party for about 20 minutes now and leveled her up a few times

edit: fuck, i shut down the game and restarted it to see if that would do something, and now i don't have the option to continue game just start a new game..:mad::mad: 2 hours wasted:thumbs down:

edit 2: after looking at the trophy list i have realized that i should have had another 2 trophies pop but didn't, so something is wrong with my game. gonna delete it and redownload. hope that fixes the problem.

deleting and redownloading worked..

What does the difficulty change if theres no trophy for it!? Worth playing on hard!?

Well I assume it's just harder enemies like with most games, if you want a bit more of challenge then go for it because Normal difficulty is pretty easy through the entire game.

To fix that Spoiler Tag problem you need to turn off the WYSIWYG editor and delete all the Spoiler Tag code then create a new Tag with a unique ID, you can turn WYSIWYG back on afterwards if you wish :). I'm not entirely sure why this happens but it's annoying when it does :(.

1/10 difficulty? is that easy??

anyway thanks for the guide mate =)

Definitely not a 1/10. While the game is rather nice and easy, a 1 should be reserved for games which require no effort at all, and have no missable trophies, like The Walking Dead.

Well isn't that based on trophy difficulty? there are no missable trophies and the only trophy that might be a bit annoying is Showstopper.
