There are 10 collectibles needed to earn the Lover trophy. None of the other collectibles in story mode are needed for any of the trophies with the exception of the Black Cat Audio Log journals. There are 5 of them in story missions and 5 of them in free roam. You can view which ones you have by pausing the game and going to the messages tab. You can then sort them and view just the Black Cat logs. I have included images of the free roam locations.

I added the free roam Photo locations. I've had several people ask me the location of Fisk Tower and The Wake Club.

Just thowing it out there (as it's not mentioned in the thread): Story Photos & Free Roam Photos are not needed for trophies.

Neither are the audio logs, with exception of Black Cat's 10 logs.

 

For the Reporter trophy (Completed all photo challenges) you only have to do the 29 events that are marked on your world map with a blue circle. (9 CK symbols, 10 police computers, 10 agents in black suits). Just mark these circles on your map, go to their locations and take the photos. The objects you have to photograph are the same every time.

 

So in terms of trophies, these collectibles aren't necessary. But you can still collect them for the sake of in-game completion.

I apologize for not making it clear that they aren't all required for trophies. It's for competitionists who want 100%, hence why it's not a full collectible guide like I normally do. But you're correct, I assumed (possibly incorrectly) that it would have been common knowledge.

I'm at 9 with those. The ones in free roam are buggy. Sometimes they don't appear on the map until several seconds later if at all. I sat next to one for about 20 seconds before it showed up on the mini-map.

i've noticed that too. Any chance you're making a location guide for the black cat ones? i've combed through the map street by street at least 5 times already. Been stuck at 30/40 audio logs since my 2nd or 3rd time going through the city streets.

 

I would be surprised if you made a guide for it, because i'd imagine its nearly impossible to keep track of the audio file collectibles (i know i couldn't).

 

EDIT: does anyone know if there is a way to look into statistics a bit more? I see it in the pause menu, but i wanna check how many civilians i have saved, etc, but i cant figure out how.

I know i picked up Dillon 4 last night, but i'm having a hard time remembering where. He had an Audio Log on the right side of the map next to a bridge. There were 4 extremely high smoke stacks, i was jumping around on the smoke stacks thinking there would be something... Jumped down onto the building beneath (it was some electrical company) and he had a log on the roof.

 

I hope it was #4, just because i want that guide up for black cat .

The collectible i speak of is near the bottom right corner. Its right abouve where the map gets all choppy with the 8 "X" shaped buildings and its the building right next to the the "puzzle piece" shaped buildings (to the right).

 

It's a terrible description, i know, but when you look at the map, you'll know what im talking about. When you get to that location, look for the 4 smoke stacks. The building is called Reilly's Energy Corps. The audio log i speak of is on the roof.

It'll be much appreciated. Glad i remembered that location, its honestly probably the ONLY one collectible in this game that i remember where i found it (only because i did an experiment where i stood next to it for 5 minutes without it ever showing up on the map).

It's embarrassing to admit I didn't learn my lesson from last time. Had to do chapter select for not referring to the Lover trophy video guide during the Black Cat missions. I missed one at the museum, though I'm pretty sure I got #7... anyhoo missing any story-related logs means replaying everything in that chapter including tied-up/prelude missions. For the museum you would have to escort the police truck again. It's not really difficult to do all that all over again, it just felt like a chore.

 

Best advice, refer to the guide as soon as possible and don't go in blind thinking you'd remember them all from last time (done this already on the PS4, now it's the PS3 stack) ... maybe you will... but chances are you might miss one or two... the freeroam alone would definitely require you to look at the guide for the locations anyway. So it's probably best to look at the video guide in case you come across any of the locations and you get your BC log asap.
