Overview:

  • Estimated trophy difficulty: 3/10 (Trophy Difficulty Thread)
  • Offline trophies: 4 (3 (B), 1 (S))
  • Online trophies: 10 (1 (G), 1 (S), 8 (B))
  • Approximate amount of time to 100%: Region dependent due to differences in player population. 50-75 hours with turbo, 200+ without turbo (could be less if you use the YOLO gem).
  • Minimum number of playthroughs: 14 Story runs, 2000 ranked matches, 1000 VS matches.
  • Number of missable trophies: None, all are fight based
  • Glitched trophies: Some people have mentioned not getting certain trophies. In my experience the trophies pop immediately for some people and up to several hours later for other people.
  • Does difficulty affect trophies? No so set the A.I to "Cake Walk".
  • Do cheat codes disable trophies? No known cheat codes.
  • Special peripherals or multiple controllers needed: Not needed but a turbo controller/arcade stick recommended if you own one (must be able to turbo two buttons simultaneously). The Vita has cross-purchase and cross-play and can help a bit.

Introduction:

Divekick is a game based on two buttons, a Dive button and a Kick button. The menu is navigated with these two buttons and the gameplay relies solely on these two buttons. This game was meant as a form of ridicule for an overpowered move found in most (if not all) fighting games. Thus this game is a one touch death game that squares off two fighters that can just jump and kick. Since there is a massive grind of 2000 online matches, you will have plenty of opportunities to do the online trophies.

Walkthrough:

This trophy list is pretty straight forward and not much you can do to take a shortcut per se, however, some of the online ranked trophies (detailed below) can be done all in one go but here is the general strategy you would want to do to get the 100%.

Step 1: Offline Story trophies

Just play through the story mode with all the characters. Make sure that one of your playthroughs is with the YOLO gem. After you are done with this step you should have:

(S) Plot Matters

(B) Perfection

(B) I Have My Reasons

Note: I had some issues with beating some characters on the PS3 and defeating the rest on Vita. I was doing it under Airplane mode on Vita. I eventually re-did all the characters on Vita. The trophy still didn't pop until I came out of Airplane mode and connected online.

Don't play in Airplane mode on Vita and be careful about finishing some stories on one console and finishing the rest on another console.

Step 2: Offline Matches

This can be interchanged with Step 3 if you want to play with a friend later. After you are done with this step you should have:

(B) Body Builder

Step 3: Online Ranked Matches

This is where most of your time will be spent since you have to play 2000 ranked matches. Play online ranked while aiming for the situation specific trophies. I would definitely suggest knocking out the set of trophies mentioned below in one go, however it is not required to do so and each situation can be replicated individually. After you are done with this step you should have:

(G) A Real Headache

(S) Reversal of Fortune

(B) Found a Fraud

(B) Real Divekicker

(B) Grinder Supreme

You can do these trophies all in one go:

(B) You Only Live Once

(B) Choked Out

(B) Dat Triple

(B) No Skills Needed

(B) Not a Factor

Tips:

  • Vita controller: Since it is cross purchase, you can play on your Vita with your main account and use your PS3 with a dummy account to fight yourself. Thanks to mcnichoj for the tip.
  • Turbo Controller: Set both dive and kick to a turbo setting and leave your Playstation and turbo stick doing all the grind. Thanks to Info for the help and tips.

Step 4: Clean up

This isn't really needed but if you need to recreate any scenario during an online match, now would be a good time to go back and do so.

Trophy Guide:

169.jpg  Plot Matters (S)

Beat story mode with all characters.

Simply beat the game with all 14 characters. Note: As stated in the walkthrough, be wary of starting on one console and finishing on another as the trophies can act a little weird if you do.

The characters are:

1. Kick

2. Jefailey

3. Mr. N

4. REDACTED

5. Dr. Shoals

6. Kenny

7. Uncle Sensei

8. Stream

9. The Baz

10. Kung Pao

11. Markman

12. Johnny Gat

13. Dive

14. S-kill

15. The Fence

(Thanks to Sergen The Boss and DPatriot for the updated list of characters)

4E5.jpg  You Only Live Once (B)

Win a ranked match using the YOLO gem.

After you are paired with an opponent online, you will chose a character and then choose a gem type. Simply choose the "YOLO gem" and win the online match. The trophy should pop after the match summary.

283.jpg  A Real Headache (G)

Win a ranked match by getting TOTAL DOMINATION.

During an online ranked match you must defeat an opponent 5 rounds consecutively with just "Headshots". The trophy should pop after the match summary.

3bd.jpg  Found a Fraud (B)

Fraud detect an opponent in a ranked match.

During an online ranked match you must defeat an opponent 5 rounds consecutively all while the opponent does not win any round. The trophy should pop after the match summary.

0F3.jpg  Choked Out (B)

Choke detect an opponent in a ranked match.

Choke is when an opponent that is winning caves in and loses the lead and then the game. In an online match have the opponent win 4 rounds, come back and win 5 rounds in a row. If you use the YOLO gem, your opponent will start with 4 rounds under their belt. Note: This will not work if your opponent is also using the YOLO gem.

This can be combined with You Only Live Once.

523.jpg  Body Builder (B)

Play 1000 matches in VS mode.

Simply play 1000 Versus matches.

Recommendation for those with 2 Turbo Controllers: Set up any characters (I used Dive and Kick) with YOLO gems, then let them have at each other for several hours.

BAB.jpg  Real Divekicker (B)

Play 500 ranked matches.

Simply play 500 matches online under ranked mode. See Grinder Supreme for more info.

E5E.jpg  Dat Triple (B)

Get a triple S ranking in a ranked match.

At the end of a match you get ranked in three categories: Diving, Kicking, and Not Losing. Simply get S in the three categories at the end of an online ranked match and the trophy will pop. This usually pops when going for You Only Live Once.

BBA.jpg  No Skills Needed (B)

Win a ranked match without using any special moves.

During gameplay, push both the dive and kick buttons to execute a special move when your kick meter has enough energy. Simply win an online ranked match without using a special move and you should be fine. Again, this is easiest if combined with You Only Live Once.

16A.jpg  Not a Factor (B)

Win a ranked match without activating Kickfactor.

During an online match every kick will earn you meter. Once your shoe is fully stocked you will automatically activate Kickfactor. Simply avoid unnecessary kicks during an online ranked match and you should be good to go. Again, can be combined with You Only Live Once.

E0B.jpg  Perfection (B)

Beat story mode using the YOLO gem.

Simply beat the story mode while using the YOLO gem and the trophy is yours.

D44.jpg  Reversal of Fortune (S)

Knock out an opponent who is in Kickfactor while you are concussed in a ranked match.

Kickfactor is activated when a player's shoe meter becomes full. You start a round concussed if the previous round ended with you being "headshoted". This is a very situational trophy, you must be dazed and your opponent has to be in Kickfactor mode. During an online ranked match with both these conditions met, beat your opponent one round and the trophy is yours.

39d.jpg  I Have My Reasons (B)

Beat story mode with one character.

Simply play through story mode once.

5B0.jpg  Grinder Supreme (B)

Play 2000 ranked matches.

Simply play 2000 online matches under ranked mode.

Time spent here is dependent on how many people are playing in your region. I have seen an average of a match every two minutes, while others have seen it scarcer during the same time. You have been warned.

im not sure i know what a turbo controller does? why does it go so much faster with a turbo controller? I was thinking of just spamming (x) and whatching a movie or somthing on my computer. wont that take 10-15 hours too? or will it take 60+ hours :o. and can you tell me if the game have a shared list? I want to play it on my Vita. but if i have to grind out 2000 ranked matches i want to do it on my PS3 :/?

no one is playing. i hope that changes soon. then again, i am playing at 5am. at the rate i'm getting matches 10-15 hours for completion is an impossibility.

@dylanmannen a turbo controller rapidly presses any button(s) on the controller without the need of user input. but you would need the controller to press two buttons simultaneously since pressing dive and kick = ENTER. i am unsure if such a controller exists. i haven't owned a turbo controller since the ps2.

A turbo controller would allow the button to be pressed much faster than what you could do with your hands. You could probably do a maximum of 2-3 hits per second, whereas a turbo controller would be able to do a lot more

I hope that clears it up, I don't own this game I just thought I would explain the benefits of a turbo controller to you :)

@Ed-_-, and dalton32389, thanks for the clarification guys ^^

but is it true that it will take 60h+ without turbo controller. I dont get how it could take any longer than just pressing the button my self? the matches must be as long right? I will NOT get this game if it takes 60h+ to get the trophy. god damn it this is a stupid trophy -.-

i'm not sure how turboing it would make the process any faster either. i think not turboing it would be faster because you can just stand there and let them win. turboing doesn't affect the software's speed like some sort of emulator's speed doubler. i think the guide's author is mistaken.

Only 10-15 hours with turbo. Thought the 2000 ranked would be much more tedious.

Nice guide btw :)

Thanks. Glad you like it.

lol, it's not 60+ without a turbo.

Guide looks good, but I have to disagree with the estimate time. 24h of continuously turbo and I only have 300 ranked matches done. So, the 100% can easily be 200-250h without turbo.

So after last night I must make changes to the time. I left it playing against itself last night and the system shut off on me so I can't get an accurate guess for the 1000 VS matches.

When it comes to online, it is VERY VERY region dependent. I am not finding a large amount of matches, but I am finding more than what compSci is. I think in about 1 hour I got about 57 matches. I made calculations that all 2000 would have taken me 57 hours. So I will be making amends as well as mentioning it is very region/connection dependent.

Hope that makes sense.

UPDATE: At the moment I am getting an average of one match per 2 minutes. At this rate it would take about 60 hours (with turbo) for the 2000 online matches.

Well that may be so, and it may increase time by a little bit, but turboing allows you to leave the console on while you are free to do something else. For example, I am trying to fix this guide while my PS3 and controller are grinding out online matches.

i agree that turboing is easier, but the guide made it sound like turboing is faster, which isn't the case. also, i thought of a way to do matches faster. use the yolo gem. it makes matches last 1 round.

For controllers you might wanna include a Vita.

They have cross-play so I imagine it would be super easy to be on your Vita with your main account and a dummy profile on your PS3 early in the morning when few are on and setting up matches to get all the various single match related trophies with both your devices.

Just a thought.

From the other thread, this is for those who may have trouble with getting straight headshots.

From the trophies, regarding "A Real Headache", seems easier if the opponent is using Jefailey with 4+ ego, making it easier for headshots, preferable if you use the Stream for angle aim. From there, just keeping aiming for the head

Alright good catch. First Roadmap/Trophy guide so trying to be as informative as possible and may make me seem biased. Will update.

I was still trying to figure this one out. I was trying to see if the story mode completion can be cross platform, but it would appear to have to all be done in one console. Still trying to rectify that atm.

I also didn't know about cross play so that is a good catch. So that would work in terms of the single situation based trophies. However this is like MvC2 where it is hard to tell who is on the other end unless you change the favorite player.

Also, it would seem you can't have both consoles online with the same ID. I am trying to be 100% sure on this, because else you can boost online matches at 2x the speed.

Hey mcnichoj! Do they have a shared trophie list? Or is it two lists :o

Or can any one tell me if there is two lists, or one?

1 list. Cross-purchase. Some parts are cross-progress (online matches not story completions).

From the other thread, this is for those who may have trouble with getting straight headshots.

Yeah I have to give credit to that person, though I thought of it as well without reading it, best to give credit instead of plagiarism. That method will also force you to get choke detected.

Lastly, an update on the time online. I got to say it is SUPER region dependent. If people actually play this online in your area then good luck grinding. If they don't you are going to spend a good amount of time.

If you have two turbo boosted controllers, the 1000 VERSUS boost should take about 2 or 3 hours. I am going to go with 3 for safety.

Thanks for all the help. Work has got me a bit tied up, but the roadmap will reflect all this information soon.

 I meant the other thread from the same section here on PS3T's Divekick Board, posted by me, or did someone else from another forum found this tip before me? Because the whole Jefailey trick just popped into my head, lol.

Yeah. I know what you are talking about. I am just saying that I thought about that method myself, but I have also read about it. I don't know which I did first, or if you came up with it first, so I am just going to give credit. Better safe than sorry.

Update: I would suggest doing story mode all on one console. I tried to split it between vita and PS3 but could not get the trophy. Also, there might be a factor of me being in airplane mode. So I think it has to be connected online so that the trophy pops. Also, if you are grinding online, and you turn on your vita (connected online) and play divekick with the same profile, it will kick you out of the PS3 grinding. I am going to note this as well.

EDIT: I have added what has been discussed in the last two days. I am just missing the 2000 online matches trophy (currently at 602, just 62 less than Info) so I don't think I will be discovering more information. I think Info (who has been very helpful with the time) and I will be finishing tweaking the time to 100%. I feel like it might be over the 100 hours for both turbo and non turbo. Thanks for all your help Info!

I have a 2 Hori Turbo controllers which only turbos 1 button at a time so not sure how i could get the turbo controller to press two buttons at the same time. I tired rubber banding down 1 button and turbo button on x but no luck. because the two buttons need to be pressed at the same time and it does not always work

I must me missing something

Guide looks good. Nice job.

Possible Small tip on "A Real Headache" (I had trouble with it) if you do run into a Jefailey (in 250 matches I have run into 4) and you use the YOLO gem to make his head big, pick Dr. Shoals.

I found that there is almost nothing giant head Jefailey can do VS Dr. Shoals. Especially once you head shot him once and he is slowed. makes aiming for his head really easy too, because of the angle of her kick.
