There are a few differences between this game and its predecessor, with the main being that there is no longer a career mode. The game has been condensed to a quick, fun and addictive arcade style game all about completing challenges, increasing multipliers and trying to achieve the highest score possible. Players can play online, splitscreen two player or single player against A.I opponents. There is also a global leaderboard for you to compare your high scores against. There are three types of game modes in Backbreaker Vengeance i.e Tackle Alley, Vengeance and Supremacy. For an overview and description of each type, consult the relevant trophies in the trophy guide below. Note: For those who are new to the sport or this genre, please consult the following post in this Trophy Guide for a glossary and an overview of the controls: CLICKY Step 1: Play through and complete all 20 challenges (100 waves total) of Tackle Alley For this step, you should be learning the controls and getting used to the timing of when different evasion techniques should be used. At the end of this step you will have unlocked the following trophies: It begins Parting Waves While playing this game mode you should also be going for the following trophies: Multiply and Conquer The Jester Cleaning Up The Immortal Headbanger Jack of all Trades Step 2: Play through and complete all 20 challenges (100 waves total) of Vengeance This step should be quicker and easier then the first, as you should have mastered the controls and mechanics of the game. At the end of this step you will have unlocked the following trophies: Tackle Master While playing this game mode you should also be going for the following trophies- Relentless Step 3: Play through and complete all 10 challenges (50 waves total) of Supremacy This step is probably the quickest in the game as there are only half the number of challenges compared to the other two game modes. While playing this game mode you should also be going for the following trophies: Born Winner Pole Position Edited March 26, 2016 by Terminator Replaced missing banner. dcollins22
Trophy Guide: http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1170/01.jpg Parting Waves Complete all single player Tackle Alley challenges There are a total of 20 challenges in Tackle Alley, each consisting of 5 waves. In order to unlock each consecutive challenge, a minimum Bronze rank must be obtained. If not then you will fail the challenge and have to restart. The challenges start off very simple but increase in difficulty towards the later challenges. You get 5 lives/attempts per wave, if you fail then you will have to restart that challenge again. There isn't a single way of beating each wave, just play, learn the controls and through trial and error you will find the best technique/route to completion. The aim of Tackle Alley is to score a touchdown within the designated time limit, whilst avoiding waves of defenders and not going out of bounds. There are three types of defenders, red, yellow and blue. Although explained in the tutorials, the appropriate method for beating each type is as follows: Red = Jump Yellow = Slide Blue = Barge General tips: - I find the easiest way to beat most defenders is by spinning or Juking as you don't lose momentum and maintain your speed and direction. This is important during various later rounds when defender you beat early on in the wave catch back up to you at the other end of the field. - Showboating is a good way of gaining a few extra points, which may mean the difference between getting a Bronze rating and failing the challenge. Press and hold either or for the last few metres before the end zone. If no defenders are around then hold both and down to Super Showboat and earn more points. Note: This will result in you moving slower. - Take the shortest path possible if you aren't worried about getting a high score. Avoid defenders where possible. You should almost always get at least a Bronze rating, which is all that is required to progress through the challenges. http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1170/02.jpg Tackle Master Complete all single player Vengeance challenges As with Tackle Alley, there are 20 Challenges in Vengeance mode, each consisting of 5 waves. In order to unlock each consecutive challenge, a minimum Bronze rank must be obtained. If not then you will fail the challenge and have to restart. The challenges start off very simple, but increase in difficulty towards the later challenges. You get 5 lives/attempts per wave. if you fail you will have to restart that challenge again. There isn't a single way of beating each wave, just play, learn the controls and through trial and error you will find the best technique/route to completion. The aim of Vengeance mode is to tackle the ball carrier, who is marked on the field. You have to stay in bounds and avoid the defenders. The ball carrier will follow a set path which you will be able to see when the countdown begins to start the round. General tips: - Use the same techniques to avoid the defenders as in Tackle Alley. However, press to dive tackle the ball carrier when you get close for extra points. - Try and get all your points in the earlier waves as the later waves can be quite difficult, this is especially true for Challenge 20. Below is guide for all 5 waves of Challenge 20, as this Challenge can be quite difficult if you don't pay attention to the path the ball carrier is running. In order to unlock each consecutive challenge, a minimum Bronze rank must be obtained. If not then you will fail the challenge and have to restart. In my opinion the challenges are very simple. The aim of Supremacy is to beat the other three players to the end zone and have the highest amount of points at the end of the 5 waves. Along the way you can earn points by running through score patches and being the first to enter the end zone, although you will still earn points coming in second, third or fourth, as long as you don't get knocked down or go out of bounds. The Bronze rating for all 10 challenges is only 1,000 points which is very easy to achieve. Just stay in the field of play and pick up a few score patches, you don't even need to be the first to reach the end zone. General tips: - Shove other players out of bounds. This is easier down at the start of the waves, and the guy to the left of you is an easy target. Just run close beside him and push him into the red area. be careful not to run out of bounds your self though. When a player is pushed out of bounds they are out of that wave and will lose 100 points. This is a good method for the Pole Position trophy. - Collect as many score patches as you can, especially the 500 ones, as the winner of each round gets extra points. - Be careful of on-coming defenders running towards you from the other end of the field. http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1170/04.jpg Multiply and Conquer Reach 10 combo multiplier in Tackle Alley Multipliers are achieved by dodging tackles, jumping over obstacles and picking up score patches. This will come naturally during the later Challenges when there are more defenders and obstacles in each wave. However, if you want to get this trophy early on, you can do so in Challenge 4 - Wave 5 by dodging the same defender over and over. Be sure to make it to the end zone before the time runs out otherwise the trophy won't pop. Furthermore, multipliers can run out / expire if the time between each one is to long. However this shouldnt be a problem I some of the later challenges as you could probably get a x20 multiplier if x10 wasnt the highest due to the sheer number of opponents and obstacles. dcollins22
http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1170/05.jpg The Jester Showboat down the field for 30 yards in one wave in Tackle Alley This is one of the easier trophies in the game. Showboating is a kind of taunt and earns you points while you are doing it. To Showboat, simply hold down or and keep running in the direction your going. This is easiest done in Challenge 1 - Wave 1. There are only 2 defenders in this wave. As soon as the Wave starts, hold down or and run for about 20 yards and then beat the first defender. Upon beating the second defender hold down or again to Showboat and continue till you have score a touchdown. You will have well over 30 metres by the time you reach the end zone. Note: It does not have to be 30 consecutive yards, just 30 yards total in a single wave. As with Multiply and Conquer, you have to finish the wave for the trophy to pop. http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1170/06.jpg Cleaning Up Collect 5 score patches in one wave in Tackle Alley This is another easy trophy, just throw 5 score patches in a single wave of Tackle Alley. These will either be 100, 200 or 500 points. This is easy to do in the later Challenges where there are many score patches in each wave, however, if you want to get it done earlier then the first opportunity is in Challenge 1 - Wave 4. http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1170/07.jpg Relentless Complete an entire single player Vengeance challenge without giving up a score This is much easier then you think. You just need to finish all 5 waves of a challenge in Vengeance mode with out losing a single life. This is easiest done on Challenge 1 as there aren't many defenders or obstacles. If you get tackled or go out of bounds and lose a life, you will have to restart the challenge. Press to tackle the Defender when you get close. http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1170/08.jpg Pole Position Score highest on every wave of a single player Supremacy challenge This is probably the most difficult trophy in the game and may require several attempts. You need to win all 5 waves of a challenge in Supremacy mode. As with the Relentless trophy, this is easiest done on challenge one. For some general tips consult the Relentless trophy description. I didn't need to replay Challenge 1, I got it just playing naturally through the 10 challenges. However, if you still haven't received this trophy after getting Born Winner then replay Challenge 1 over and over until you win all 5 waves. Challenge one is the easiest to complete without losing a life. If you get tackled or go out of bounds, or just fail you will have to restart the challenge. For those of you struggling thank clarkes1990 for the video guide below, which also shows how to get a few other easy trophies as well: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1AqSn4IH0aM]Backbreaker Vengeance: 5 trophies - YouTube[/ame] http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1170/10.jpg Headbanger Collide 2 defenders into each other For this trophy you must have two defenders dive at you at the same time to tackle you, miss and instead hit each other. This is easier then it sounds if done at the right location against the right type of defenders. I found the yellow defenders to be the easiest to do this against. This is easily done on Challenge 1 Wave two. Just run at the gap between the two defenders and press to slide. They should both dive and miss you and hit each other, if not then restart the challenge. It shouldn't take many attempts to time correctly. http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1170/11.jpg Jack of all Trades In Tackle Alley use jump, barge and slide on all of the appropriate tacklers in a wave For this trophy you must use the correct evading/ dodging technique on all 3 types of defenders in a single wave. The only challenge you might have is the timing of when to execute each type of move. It may take a couple of tries but you will figure out the timing pretty quick. As described in the Parting Waves trophy description, the correct techniques are for each defender type are: Red defender = Jump Yellow defender = Slide Blue defender = Barge http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1170/12.jpg It Begins Complete a wave This will be the first trophy you unlock in the game. Regardless of what game mode you do first (i.e. Tackle Alley, Vengeance or Supremacy), it will unlock on completion of your first wave.
