The game can still be played in it's original form, but looks and plays better in the new Enhanced Mode. The new mode not only has the upgraded visuals but allows you to use the right stick for shooting, making the game considerably easier than Classic Mode. The game offers single player, online and local co-op and even Ad-Hoc if you play the Vita version. Game and trophy progress can be shared between the PS3 and Vita, although the trophies don't auto pop; you'll need to complete at least part of a trophy requirement on the system you move your save to. For example, killing 100 enemies on your PS3 will unlock WARMING UP on that system. After moving the save to your Vita you only need one kill to unlock the trophy there. All trophies can be earned in co-op and that's where the game can be the most fun, provided you have someone to play with. The online community is a bit scarce, so if you don't have a partner of your own use the Co-op Partners Thread to help find someone. The co-op trophies can also be done solo with two controllers or even simultaneously on PS3 and Vita, although some trophies are harder than others that way. Section 3 Walkthrough Step One - Single Player Play through the five campaigns. Watch the Intro to Alien Breed. You can focus on the level and weapon specific trophies now if you like or wait for clean up. Your first purchase should be the map to help you get through the levels. Your second purchase should be a Flamethrower as it will help with several trophies. You can buy the rest of the weapons as you go, but if you're transferring your save to Vita be sure to save before you buy the last weapon to save yourself time. See LOCKED AND LOADED for more details. Trophies Earned FIRST BLOOD ASSAULT WARMING UP RIPLEY NEVER GET IT BACK LOCKED AND LOADED HARD AS NAILS Step Two - Co-op Co-op can be done locally or online. If you need a partner use the Co-op Partners Thread to help find someone. To help minimize play time start with the level specific trophies. Once those are out of the way, load your favourite level and play it until you have earned one million points. Finally, continue playing until you have beaten 17 levels. There is a somewhat useful exploit to online co-op, but it's really only helpful if you're boosting by yourself on PS3 and Vita at the same time. One player can drop out and the other can continue on alone while still getting credit for playing co-op. This can help add to your point total and number of levels played and can also be used for TREAD CAREFULLY. This method will not work for SMASHING or BURN, BABY BURN. Trophies Earned (B)THERE'S NO I IN TEAM HE SHOOTS HE SCORES ISR4-C SMASHING BURN, BABY BURN TREAD CAREFULLY Step Three - Clean Up You likely still need to earn several million points so go back to your favourite levels and grind out the needed points. Keyser Soze
Trophy Guide http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1898/F9D.jpg FIRST BLOOD MAKE YOUR FIRST KILL See WARMING UP http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1898/94B.jpg ASSAULT KILL 10 ALIENS See WARMING UP http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1898/3B0.jpg WARMING UP KILL 100 ALIENS This is cumulative across all levels and weapons, simply kill 100 enemies total. Depending on how thorough you are in searching levels before completing your objectives you may have this as early as Alien Breed Level 3 - Power System. http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1898/91D.jpg RIPLEY FLAME 1000 ALIENS Amass 1000 kills using only Flamethrowers To get this out the way early on your first weapon purchase should be a Flamethrower. Weapons that count toward your total are the Ammet MP Flamethrower, Intex Ebon Flamethrower, Dalto Arc Flame (SE) and Ryxx Firebolt MK22 (SE). http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1898/8C2.jpg SECONDS OUT REACH AN EXIT DECK LIFT WITH 1 SECOND REMAINING There are several levels that end by you reaching an elevator while an alarm with a timer counts down. The trophy can be earned on any of these levels, the first of which is Alien Breed Level 2 - Mainframe. If you make it to the elevator while there is still time on the clock just hang back shooting enemies until the timer winds down to one second. http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1898/C30.jpg NEVER GET IT BACK WATCH THE ALIEN BREED PROLOGUE Start Alien Breed Level - 1 Shuttle Bay and watch the scrolling text without skipping. This will be your first trophy if you begin with single player. http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1898/931.jpg SCAVENGER COLLECT EVERY PICKUP ON A LEVEL You must collect every ammo, credit, health, key and Extra Life pick up in a single level by running over them. This can be done on any level and will come naturally if you like to explore the levels. Alien Breed Level 1 - Shuttle Bay or Convergence Level 1 - Lower Landing Bay are ideal if you're having trouble. They are both small levels with fewer pick ups. http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1898/51B.jpg RUN, STONE RUN! COMPLETE ALIEN BREED LEVEL 2 WITHOUT FIRING YOUR WEAPON This trophy is level specific, simply run through Alien Breed Level 2 - Mainframe without ever firing a weapon. Before attempting this, back up your save to the PS+ Save File Cloud or external storage. Be sure to have at least three lives, ten keys and enough money to buy extra lives or health if you run into trouble. The map can also be a big help. Ignore all enemies and side rooms and head directly to your first objective. Enemies will run into and damage you along the way. Don't be too concerned with them and continue to the goal. If you see a heath pack in the open, grab it but don't go out of your way for one. Once you reach the first goal stand in the path of the spinning targets, destroying them in the process. When the countdown begins head towards the exit and get back on the elevator. Once you have the trophy you can load your save from the cloud and resume the game with your lives and keys intact. http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1898/813.jpg LOCKED AND LOADED PURCHASE ALL WEAPONS FROM THE SHOP There are 12 weapons available for purchase from the in game store, each of which cost 25,000 Credits. You'll need 300,000 Credits to buy them all. If you don't spend too much on extra lives or keys from the store you should have enough before you finish Valiance. If you're transferring saves back and forth between your PS3 and Vita be sure to back up your save to the Cloud before you purchase the final weapon. If you buy the last weapon before you transfer your save, you won't be able to unlock the trophy on your Vita. You'll need to start a new game and play until you pick up another 300,000 credits. http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1898/9AB.jpg WHO'S THE BOSS? DEFEAT A BOSS WITHOUT FIRING THE ASSAULT RIFLE There are bosses on several levels throughout the game and you'll need to defeat one with any weapon other than the Assault Rifle. Your first opportunity will be in Alien Breed Level 3 - Power System. You can switch between weapons as long as you never use the Assault Rifle. The bosses are larger than regular enemies but still have to touch you to damage you. Keep your distance, keep firing and you'll take the boss quickly. Keyser Soze
http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1898/43C.jpg YOU'RE ONLY SUPPOSED TO BLOW THE BL**DY DOORS OFF COMPLETE A LEVEL USING NO KEYS This can be done on any level and the Alien Breed Special Edition even has two levels which don't have any doors i.e Level 9 - Linkage Shaft and Level 11 - Location Unknown. However this can easily be done on the game's first level Alien Breed Level 1 - Shuttle Bay. From your starting position all you need to do is run in a straight line to the left to get to the exit. You'll need to pass through two doors almost immediately, which can be opened by shooting them with any gun whose ammo doesn't bounce off the walls. http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1898/C26.jpg THERE'S NO I IN TEAM COMPLETE A LEVEL IN CO-OP See ISR4-C http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1898/C04.jpg HE SHOOTS, HE SCORES SCORE 1,000,000 CO-OP POINTS ON A LEVEL This can be done online or locally on any level, but the total points must be earned in the same level. You don't need to score one million points in one run through a level, although it would be possible to do so. It's more likely you will need to replay one level several times to get the cumulative total. Alien Breed Level 1 - Shuttle Bay works well. http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1898/FBE.jpg ISR4-C COMPLETE 17 CO-OP GAMES This can be done online or locally and in tandem with HE SHOOTS, HE SCORES to cut down on time. Simply play a total of 17 Co-op games. Alien Breed Level 1 - Shuttle Bay is the quickest level to get through, especially if you are boosting the trophy by yourself with two controllers. You only need to run in a straight line to the left and through two doors. The game will only let the two players get as far away from each other as the width of the screen, so you'll need to move the second player a little bit. If you move one player all the way to the left before the game stops you, you'll be able to go the rest of the way with the second player. http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1898/8B8.jpg SAVING AMMO KILL 2 ALIENS WITH ONE SHOT There are several guns whose ammo bounces off walls and through enemies. You'll need one of these and a corridor with at least two enemies. You can either try to line up a shot that will pass through two enemies or you can do a bank shot and let the shot ricochet off the walls into multiple enemies. The Intex Arc Laser Gun and High Impact Astro (SE) work well. http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1898/9DE.jpg SMASHING DIE TOGETHER IN THE MASHERS ON CONVERGENCE LEVEL 4 On the left side of the map in Convergence Level 4 - Shuttle Control there is a set of pistons in the corridor. Simply walk in between them with your co-op partner and let the pistons handle the rest. The spoiler contains the map location and a screenshot of the Mashers. The countdowns are impossible to miss with their red lights and computer voiced notification. You must kill fifty enemies during a single countdown. Some of the later levels, particularly Valiance Level 3 - Engineering Core and Synergy Level 1 - Shuttle Bay 3, have longer timers which will help you reach your total. The countdown ends when you reach your goal, but you don't need to end the countdown to earn the trophy. Rather than head to the goal, you may prefer to head to areas where enemies spawn more frequently. http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1898/2A6.jpg BURN, BABY BURN DEFEAT A BOSS ALIEN TOGETHER WITH FLAMETHROWERS This is stackable with WHO'S THE BOSS?. In Co-op take down a boss with both players using Flamethrowers. Your first opportunity will be Alien Breed Level 3 - Power System. The bosses are larger than regular enemies and do more damage, but they can still only damage you when they touch you. Keep your distance and focus your fire on the boss and it will go down quickly. http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1898/3ED.jpg TREAD CAREFULLY COMPLETE ALIEN BREED SE LEVEL 11 IN CO-OP WITHOUT TRIPPING THE ALARM The alarm in this level is triggered by running into the walls. The entire level is dark but there are red lights along the walls to help guide you. You can also use weapons fire to help figure out where the walls are in the darker areas. Just stay away from the lights and work your way to the exit. If you're boosting this trophy by yourself with two controllers stock up on extra lives and back up your save first. You can leapfrog the players past one another and completely ignore the enemies. Points earned in all game types and levels count towards your total. Depending on your play style you may need as many as an additional ten million points after you've finished the rest of the game. You can repeat the main campaign or just replay your favourite levels until you have enough points. If you play on both the PS3 and Vita, be sure to transfer your save to the Cloud before switching systems to avoid losing progress. http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1898/6A4.jpg HARD AS NAILS COMPLETE ALIEN BREED You must complete all 30 levels in the game. There are 6 levels in Alien Breed, 12 in Alien Breed Special Edition and 4 each in Convergence, Valiance and Synergy. Edited July 18, 2013 by Keyser Soze Editorial Sweep. Keyser Soze
For BURN, BABY BURN, you don't have to use the flamethrower with both characters. You can only use Player 1 but you still need to be in Coop mode. Also, on a side note, but you can get P1's weapons on P2 by getting close to him and press either Square, Circle or Triangle, i don't remember. You're supposed to re-obtain all stuff on P2, players don't share equipment. Not sure if it's a glitch, tested on PS3 and EU version. I tested this three times and could not get the trophy to unlock like that. I had player one use the Ammet MPP Flamebow Thrower, Intex Ebon Flamethrower, and Ryxx Firebolt MK22, all of which count towards RIPLEY, while player two used the Machine Gun once and High Impact Astro (SE) twice. UPDATE: I've tried this several more times and I can only trigger the trophy when both players are using flamethrowers. I've tried every combination of weapons and co-op modes I could and it didn't work. Edited June 2, 2013 by Keyser Soze
Keyser Soze
I don't know what to say, it worked for me... dunno which level, but i've only tried once. Have you tried the "glitch"? That doesn't work for me either. I've done local, online and ad-hoc and can't find a way to give player 2 the weapons player 1 has. I've tried Alien Breed, Special Edition, Convergence, Valiance and Synergy on Normal and Retro difficulties. When I do a public (local) match, player 2 only gets the machine gun. If I set the local co-op player to another profile on my PS3, then player 2 starts with whatever weapons were unlocked on that profile. The same thing happens with online co-op and ad-hoc on Vita. I even tried to give player 1 weapons from player 2 by hosting with a new user and assigning my main profile as player 2 and still couldn't exchange weapons. EDIT: I found an exploit that allows some trophies to be earned in online co-op even after one player drops out, but BURN, BABY BURN isn't one of them. RyujiSakujo
Just wanna give some tips in case players haven't figured them out. For co-op trophies that can be done locally, it is possible to connect the 2nd controller just before the "event" that triggers the trophy, that way you don't need to control both players if you're playing alone from the start (just spawn the 2nd player when you're gonna get crushed or kill a boss with flamethrowers!) This might be obvious to some, but you can check your trophy progress through the option menu (you can see how much you have left to do before getting the trophy!) Tiberius
I wasn't aware trophy progress like that could be checked, awesome. EDIT: That fucking co-op flamethrower trophy is glitched. Did it twice and it didn't pop.
