Introduction:

God of War: Ascension is a third person action-adventure video game and is the seventh installment in the God of War series; however, this is a prequel to the entire series. Like all GoW video games you'll play as the protagonist Kratos, the former servant of the God of War, Ares, who tricked Kratos into killing his wife and child. Now Kratos must defeat the three Furies who hold the key to unlocking Kratos’ past.

The gameplay is actually very similar to its predecessors in terms of combat. The Blades of Chaos is the main weapon which will get upgraded with Magic as secondary weapons later. Everything was completely revamped from the quick time events (QTE) to the amazing stronger enemies and boss fights. There are also puzzles and platforming elements that make a return to this game which shouldn't be too difficult to figure out on your own. Additional, this is the first installment to the GoW series to feature multiplayer for both competitive and cooperative play, which is expected to have downloadable content.

Trophy wise most of the trophies are story or combat related, progression based tasking, chapter specific, collectibles to discover and it can all be done in 10-15 hours.

Recommended early upgrades that you should max ASAP:

  1. Blades of Chaos

  3. Ice of Poseidon
  4. Amulet of Uroborus
  5. Oath of Orkos
  6. Soul of Hades
  7. Lighting of Zeus

New Game+:

This mode is unlocked after completing the single player campaign once. In New Game+, you'll have the option to change in many different alternate costumes. This mode also allows you to use the powers of the Artifacts that you found throughout the game; however, when playing a New Game+ campaign, you are not allowed to earn trophies.

Step 1: New Game Hard Difficulty + Getting All Collectibles & Fully Upgrading Kratos (Missables)

This is your first step in obtaining the platinum. Begin a New Game on Hard Difficulty which is available at the start. Hard is the actually the 2nd hardest difficulty setting for the game and some parts will be frustrating, but starting the game on Hard will make obtaining the platinum in the smallest amount of time possible. During this playthrough, you'll unlock the majority of the trophies in the game. Most of the trophies happen to be story related and cannot be missed. While playing through the game, there are a few things that you should always keep in mind, which are the following:

  1. Collecting all the Gorgon Eyes
  2. Collecting all the Phoenix Feathers
  3. Open every chest you come across (Even when backtracking as some Red Orb chests refill later on)
  4. Destroy any destructible objects you come across for extra Red Orbs
  5. Completely upgrading all Weapons, Magic, and Items

With that being said, you really don't need a collectible guide to find all the Gorgon Eyes and Phoenix Feathers since they're literally out in the open like every other normal chest in the game. All you need to do is be observant of your surrounding areas by exploring everything and everywhere you can search/go; however, if you need assistance or would like to follow a collectible/text guide. Then please refer to the following collectible guides and videos:

You should be aware of the 5 missable trophies within the game. These missable trophies can cause you to complete a 2nd playthrough as a speed-run on Easy Difficulty or could cause you to have a cleanup playthrough by using chapter select between chapters 1 through 28, which is something you don't want happening. Below are the missable trophies which are the following:

(B)
Tools of the Trade
- Use All 5 World Weapons in Combat

(S)
Light as a Feather
- Collect all of the Phoenix Feathers

(S)
The Eyes have It
- Collect all of the Gorgon Eyes

(S)
Fully Loaded
- Fully Upgrade Kratos

(G)
If it ain't broke...
- Reconstruct all of the Decayed Chests

As mentioned before, the Phoenix Feathers and Gorgon Eyes are all easy to find as long as you're searching and opening every single treasure chest you come across without the need of a guide. Plus, there are extra Phoenix Feathers and Gorgon Eyes that can be found throughout the game which will later give you extra Red Orbs when opened. The main missable trophy you should really be concerned about using a collectible guide is for the "If it ain't broke..." trophy. There are only 7 Decayed Chests that can be reconstructed throughout the game and it begins on Chapter 13 with the last one being found in Chapter 19. If you miss this trophy, you'll have to use Chapter Select and replay from Chapters 13 through 19 in one single sitting.

Now that you understand the collectibles you should be focused on completing all combat and specific chapter related trophies as possible. These combat and specific chapter trophies are not missable as they can be cleaned up with the usage of chapter select, but I suggest knocking them off as you naturally progress through the story. This will completely eliminate the need of even doing a cleanup if done correctly.

Finally, the last thing you should always remember is to fully upgrade Kratos' Weapons, Magic, and Items for the "Fully Loaded" trophy. In order to do this you need a grand total of 90,000 Red Orbs! I will mention that it's possible to fully upgrade everything during and between chapters 24 through 28, so don't be worried thinking that you're glitch and didn't get the trophy if this happens to you because the last item is called Eyes of Truth. The Eyes of Truth is another story related item and you'll only obtain it during Chapter 28 - The Trial of Archimedes. It's already maxed out when you obtain it, meaning Kratos will be fully upgraded when you do. It you don't get this trophy during chapters 28-29 you'll be in a pinch because chapter 30 has no Red Orbs at all and is the fight against the final bosses. Again, do not fright as there is literally 6,000 to 10,000 extra Red Orbs in the game.

Additionally, despite the "Fully Loaded" trophy being marked as missable which it can be missed if you've happen to fail at fully upgrading Kratos by the end of Chapters 28-29. There are two ways to guarantee that this trophy will unlock for you in one playthrough. You must do the following requirements beforehand:

  • Have the Blades of Chaos upgraded to at least level 4 for extra damage and faster killing.
  • Have both the Fire of Ares & Ice of Poseidon magic abilities fully upgrade by at least the beginning of Chapter 20.

By doing the above requirements before the end of Chapter 19 - The Foot of Apollo, you'll be able to farm Spartans during boss fight in Chapter 20 for an infinite amount of Red Orbs. This can also be performed by farming Satyrs on Chapter 25 with the same infinite Red Orbs method. By do these methods much early on you'll avoid falling victim to being short on Red Orbs needed to fully upgrade Kratos. For more information on Red Orbs please refer to the trophy guide.

Step 2: Cleanup - Via Chapter Select

This step may or may not be need depending on you playthrough. By this point you should have a huge amount of trophies already unlocked and should only be at 34/36 trophies. If you've happened to be missing some trophies, then please refer to their trophy descriptions for more information.

Now the main trophies you would be missing are most likely the Specific Chapter Location trophies and possibly a few combat related trophies. Here's a list of what people usually miss:

Specific Chapter Location:

  • (B) Round and Round - Chapter 5
  • (B) You Bastards! - Chapter 17
  • (S) Fireproof - Chapter 21
  • (S) Lubed Up - Chapter 24

Combat Related:

  • (S) Maybe you should call a Doctor? - Can be done in Chapter 1
  • (B) Unleashed - Can be done nearly anywhere and performed on any enemy and not the same
  • (B) Hold Still Please - Can literally be farmed on 1 enemy or groups of enemies anywhere in the game.
  • (B) Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop. BadBoy! - Can be farmed at the beginning of Chapter 19.
  • (B) Swinger - Replay Chapter 18 for the Club at the end and then hit a Harpy with it at the start of Chapter 19.
  • (B) Tag Teamed - Can be farmed on the Spartans during Chapter 30.

Collectibles/Missables:

  • (S) Fully Loaded - Chapters 1 through 28 Kratos must be fully upgraded
  • (G) No Drake. You can't have these. - Once you pick them up you have it forever.
  • (G) If it ain't broke... - Starts on Chapter 13 through Chapter 19.

Each of these trophies is relatively easy and most of them can be done right at the very beginning of their respective chapters. For example, the 1000 Hit Combo trophy, "Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop. BadBoy!", is at the very beginning of chapter 19. Another example is completing the slide in the Statue of Apollo without dying for the "Lubed Up" trophy. This trophy is literally at the very beginning of the chapter and all you have to do is kill three waves of enemies and then reconstruct a chain back together with the Amulet of Uroborus. Next thing you know you're at the part where you can do the Lubed Up trophy.

If you're missing some combat related trophies, then you can be glad to know that they can all be obtain rather easily with chapter select. The number 1 combat related trophy that most people forget about is the "Swinger" trophy, where you must ring out an enemy with the Club World Weapon. Now the Club World Weapon can be obtained at the end of Chapter 18 and taken with you in Chapter 19. During the near beginning of Chapter 19, Kratos will eventually be attacked by Harpies. All you have to do his hit one of them with the Club and you'll get the trophy in the easiest possible way. Another combat related trophy you could be missing is slowing 100 enemies with the Amulet of Uroborus for the "Hold Still Please" trophy. This trophy can literally be farmed on one single enemy (excluding bosses) and it even has a faster cooldown when it's fully upgraded. There is no way to keep track of each individual trophy that requires a certain about of times performed/hit, but they all stack and carry to next chapters as you progress with the story.

If you missed some of the collectible trophies for like reconstructing all of the Decayed Chests or collecting all Artifacts in the game, then it's recommend that you work on them now. For the Decayed Chest you have to collect all 7 Decayed Chest in a row from the starting Chapter 13 through 19. If you're missing Artifacts, then you can check to see which ones you're missing by pressing the :start: button, then press either the :l1: or :r1: button to change to the Artifacts tab. Here you can see which Artifact(s) you're missing and then use chapter select to find it. When you find and collected the Artifact you needed you can quit to the main menu as you'll have it forever, unlike the rest of the collectibles where you can't collect them in any order.

Finally, if you're stilling missing the "Fully Loaded" trophy because you were short on Red Orbs, please refer to its trophy description on how to farm an infinite amount of Red Orbs. That is about everything needed to be mention for cleanup. You should have 34/36 trophies completed at the end of this step. If you don't, then please refer to their appropriate trophy descriptions.

Step 3: Multiplayer - Requires An Online Pass

This is the final step towards your platinum. As mentioned in the overview, an Online Pass is required for one MP trophy. It's pretty simple as it’s only a tutorial, which only takes about 5 minutes of your time to complete. From the starting screen press :lsright: to select the Multiplayer stone and press :cross: to enter MP. After doing this you'll see a brief cutscene of a prisoner trying to break free from his chains where Kratos burst through a wall. Soon this prisoner is teleported to Olympus where you can choose your allegiance to either of the following Gods, which will be your class while playing Multiplayer matches:

  • Zeus

  • Poseidon

  • Hades

  • Ares

Once you've completed the training tutorial you most choose to leave Olympus and you'll unlock the "Blood Oath" trophy, which should be your last trophy for your platinum if you've been following our guide.

Always try to evade this attack. If you see the white special attack symbol above the Cerberus' head, attack it with :r1: to take control of it. It's a nice way to get rid of smaller enemies quickly. Once the Cerberus and the smaller dogs are dead you can go up the stairs and step into the green fog "the toxic gas" which will distort time and space and let you destroy walls that could not have been destroyed before. The trophy will automatically unlock as soon as you step into the green gas for the first time and it is required to progress to the next area.

Eventually the titan will throw the platform, but Kratos will automatically jump onto a new platform. Pollux is the twin attached to his brother's stomach and Castor is the one who wields two weapons. After chasing them throughout the temple you'll have to defeat them both in combat. The first phase is pretty easy as all you have to do is attack him with your Blades of Chaos while occasionally the ground will split and decay. When the ground decades you'll want to double jump out of them to safety. Once Castor is on the pillars you'll have to dodge your way over to them and destroy the pillars by simply attacking them all. Castor will collapse for you to perform a QTE against him. Eventually you'll have to perform yet another QTE by following the prompted button commands only to face his brother Pollux, who'll use the power of the Amulet Of Uroborus while fighting. This means he's able to use a lot a magic and to slow you and other objects down, however, keep attacking him as normal and you'll be able to finish him with the finisher. Once they're defeated you'll obtain the Amulet of Uroborus.

Use the amulet again and decay the water wheel pieces until they drop down to the ground and block the lever. Now you jump up the water wheel, use the amulet again, but this time you need to do the opposite and "heal" the water wheel completely. Now you will be on the very top and can jump over to a broken bridge. Repair this bridge with the amulet. The trophy will then unlock and chapter 15 begins.

Simply continue to attack her and defeat the Spartans and whenever Megaera gets on the rooftops you'll have to throw the Javelin spears at her. Eventually after perform a few QTEs where Kratos will eventually save himself by cutting off Megaera's arm. All the illusions will stop but Tisiphone will join the battle with her sister along with her pet, Daimon. Continue attack both sisters and dodging as usual until Megaera knocked off the Statue of Apollo and then "kill" Tisiphone who tuns out to be an illusion the whole time. This is a story related trophy and cannot be missed. It will unlock in Chapter 28 - The Trial of Archimedes.

[spoiler=nexttimeusethestairs]The Gaunlet of Archimedes in arguably the hardest part of the game. Before going into this fight you should have a fully upgraded Oath Stone of Orkos. A fully upgraded Amulet of Uroborus will also come in handy. In the beginning you will face Gorgons and Witches. When fighting the two gorgons play it safe and use the Oath Stone a lot. When the witches come in unleash the magic fire attacks with :r2:. It will get messy if you have to fight all these enemies at once, so get rid of them quickly.

In the next part you will be fighting in a "corridor". Here the Oath Stone of Orkos is even more useful and will hit lots of enemies at once. Let it do its job against the two spear fighters. Throw the harpies out in the open, it will instantly kill them. When the electric stone enemy comes in you will have to dodge the fire. The Oath Stone is also your best friend against this foe. Just keep some distance; you don't want to be shocked by his electric attacks.

In the last stage you will at first fight a Minotaur. Execute it when the red finisher prompt is shown. It will give you a nice health boost. Against the purple colored magic enemies you can use your remaining magic, again the Oath Stone of Orkos and just keep blocking everything until the Oath Stone recharges.

Complete the game on Hard Difficulty

This is a story related trophy and cannot be missed. You have to beat all 30 chapters on Hard Difficulty in a new game. This cannot be done via New Game+. Completing the game on Hard Difficulty will also unlock the "Bond Broken" trophy. Hard Difficulty is available at the start is the actually the 2nd hardest difficulty setting for the game and some parts will be frustrating, but starting the game on Hard will make obtaining the platinum in the smallest amount of time possible. Thankfully, you can still spam like in other previous God of War games. You're able to spam nearly also every standard enemy in the game with the grapple move :r1:. While using this move and then performing a throw, slam, or a ram animation move. Kratos will be immune to all damage. This means you can kill certain enemies by repeatedly spamming the grapple moves over and over again until you killed them, then move on to another enemy and repeat. This makes the Hard Difficulty playthrough much easier for you if you’re facing numerous enemies at once.

The only thing that is actually hard is completing the Trial of Archimedes. The Trial of Archimedes is wave after wave of difficult to defeat enemies. It's enough to even make you rage quit as this is harder than the game's final boss. It's still doable even on Hard Difficulty, but if you're struggling with it then please refer to our Trials of Archimedes Guide & Tips.

Note: The Trials of Archimedes has been patched with the 1.03 update (3/23/2013). Players will now receive a measured amount of Green Health Orbs and a nominal amount of Blue Magic Orbs back. This change affects all difficulty levels while still preserving the level of challenge appropriate for this late section of the game. If you're a veteran GoW player and would like to face the original difficulty of the Trials of Archimedes, do not sign online when you boot up God of War: Ascension.

  • As mentioned before. Don't be afraid to spam the grapple moves as it makes killing almost every standard enemy in the game even easier. The grapple move can even disarm enemies of their shields.
  • Try to max out your health and magic as early as possible by collecting gorgon eyes and phoenix feathers.
  • Try to open all Red Orb chests you come across. Upgrading your weapons will be a big help.
  • Collecting Red Orbs will allow you to upgrade your weapons, magic, and items so explore all areas in order to find hidden chests.
  • Your health completely refills if you die. However, your magic does not. At multiple choice chests that can give you Green or Blue Orbs you should always take the blue ones.
  • You can upgrade weapons at any time during the game by pressing the :start: button.

Combat Tips:

  • Upgrade your weapons accordingly to their usefulness.
  • The :square:, :square:, :triangle: is a powerful combo with good range - especially when the rage meter is maxed out.
  • When you jump in the air and grapple enemies with :r1:, other enemies won't be able to hit you. This works very well against big groups of goat warriors.
  • Completely upgrade the Amulet of Uroborus and the Oath Stone of Orkos as soon as possible. The Amulet of Uroborus can be used to slow done every enemy it hits (excluding bosses) allowing you to get extra hits in and easily build up your Rage Meter. The Oath Stone of Orkos will get rid of almost all enemies for you. Just block all incoming attacks until it recharges.
  • Save your magic for big groups of enemies and boss fights.
  • Do not get carried away and button-mashing everything. Some enemies in the game have QTEs and button-mashing will cause you to fail them when you least expect it.
  • Keep your finger right over the block button ready to parry possible incoming attacks. You use parries by holding :l1: and then press :cross: as an enemy attacks.
  • If you're low on health during a boss fight, let him kill you and then you'll respawn with full health bar.
  • Use your right analog stick to dodge/evade out of the way.
  • Watch out for stronger enemies that have blast radius attacks. When you see ring circles around your feet, roll out of them and whenever an enemy uses an attack that tries to pull you in roll out of his range until these special attacks and circles disappear.
  • Blocking is crucial to surviving stronger enemies and difficult parts. Block an attack then sting your favorite combos together.
  • Use the Spartan Kick (:circle:) to disarm enemies.
  • Killing Juggernauts/Centaur in minigames will always give Health Orbs.
  • Killing Gorgon/Siren (witch)/Empusa in minigames will always give Magic Orbs.
  • Use Magic for crowd control activated with the :r2: button. These can quickly weaken stronger enemies or clear an area. Be sure to use your magic on the bigger stronger enemies at point blank range. This maximizes damage inflicted towards them.
  • Use the Rage Meter/Rage of the Gods (:l3: + :r3:) to help with quickly killing enemies. Soul of Hades is one of the best Rage of the Gods special move as it unleashes a swarm of souls that automatically damage enemies and heals you.

Keep the Rage Meter Filled for 2+ Minutes

For this trophy you'll need to keep the Rage Meter filled for more than 2+ minutes. The Rage Meter is displayed in the bottom right hand corner. It will gradually fill up as you continuously attack enemies with either the :square: or :triangle: buttons without being hit. New :square: and :triangle: moves will be unleashed only when the rage meter is full. The :circle: button for the Spartan Kick will not fill the meter at all and if you don't attack enemies for a while or engage in combat the meter will decrease and no longer be full.

Shortly after Chapter 1 starts you'll enter the prison and see a cutscene where a bug infects a prisoner. Here you're really supposed to learn how to grapple enemies; however, for this trophy you want to ignore this tutorial entirely. Do not grapple the enemy! Instead, keep killing the Megaera's Minion by spamming the :square: button over and over again till it dies. The enemy will keep respawning over and over again as long as you don't do the prompted grapple & throw (:r1: + :circle:). Avoid being hit and keep attacking for 2+ minutes and it'll unlock. In theory, this is a trophy that you'll unlock without even trying for it as long as you don't use the Rage of the Gods ability (:l3: + :r3:). Chapter 1 is the earliest where you can obtain it. Other places you can do this is when you obtain new weapons. For example, when you obtain the Fire of Ares you can repeatedly kill the enemy that spawns. The final place you can do this trophy is on the tentacle of the final boss in chapter 30 by simply continuing to attack the tentacle when she is holding the boat in the air.

Throw, Slam and Ram a grappled enemy

For this trophy you must throw, slam and ram a grappled enemy. Now this is a little confusing, but all you need to do is use every grapple move in the game. You grapple enemies with the :r1: button. This trophy can be done at any time or point in the game. The earliest you can do it on is when you learn to grapple enemies during Chapter 1's grapple tutorial. This is also the location where you can unlock the "Maybe you should call a Doctor?" trophy.

You must perform the following grapple attacks on standard common enemies:

  • :r1: + :circle: --> Throw
  • :r1: + :triangle: --> Slam
  • :r1: + :cross: --> Ram

The moves don't have to be performed on the same single enemy for it to count and the enemies don't need to die from the move performed. You can perform the grapple moves in any order you wish as long as you performed all three grapple moves at least once during your course of combat and the trophy will naturally unlock.

Spill 500 buckets of blood on Kratos

For this trophy you must spill over 500 buckets of blood on Kratos. This simply means every time you strike or kill enemies. Some of their blood will spill on Kratos and it will count towards the 500 buckets of blood required for the trophy's unlocking. There is no way to keep track of how much blood you spilled onto Kratos, but there is no real need to even keep track of it as this is a trophy that will unlock naturally just by playing the game.

Win the Buttonless MiniGame against a Juggernaut

Specific Chapter Location: Chapter 5 - Village Of Kira

For this trophy you must win the Buttonless MiniGame against a Juggernaut which is also known as an Elephantaur. This can be done in the very beginning of Chapter 5. The first enemy you'll encounter is a Juggernaut. Juggernauts are fearsome and mighty elephant warriors which are similar to the Minotaurs in previous installments of the God of War series. Keep attacking and dodging the Juggernaut until you see the red finisher icon. Press :r1: to start the minigame and quickly press either :square: or :triangle: while dodging with the :lsleft: or :lsright: when attacked. Kratos will eventually kill the large elephant monster by cutting open their head and exposing the brain. Killing a Juggernaut this way will always give Health Orbs. You'll encounter Juggernaut enemies at least 8+ more times throughout the game.

Win the Buttonless MiniGame against a Manticore

Specific Chapter Location: Chapter 9 Ice Caverns

For this trophy you must win the Buttonless MiniGame against a Manticore. This can be done at the very end of Chapter 9 where you'll encounter your first Manticore, who is a Sub-boss. Manticore are a massive fire-breathing beast with the body of a lion, tail of a scorpion and wings of a bat. Keep attacking and dodging the Manticore until you see the red finisher icon. Press :r1: to start the minigame and quickly press either :square: or :triangle: while dodging with the :lsleft: or :lsright: when attacked. Kratos will eventually kill the Manticore by chopping off various limbs and parts in particular stages. You will not encounter a Manticore again until Chapter 27 - The Lantern of Delos, which so happens to be the last opportunity you'll have during your playthrough.

Slow 100 Enemies with the Amulet of Uroborus

Best Farming Location: Chapter 20 - The Gauntlet of Apollo

For this trophy you must slow 100 enemies with the Amulet of Uroborus. The Amulet of Uroborus is an item that you'll receive off of Pollux's dead body at the very beginning of Chapter 13. This item contains the power to warp time around the object or enemy it hits. Kratos can use this ability to reconstruct objects that are destroyed or he can decay them; however, when used on enemies, they're frozen in time for a while and are floating in the air at the time the magic is activated. They will remain floating there for a few seconds allowing you to get a few extra hits on the enemies frozen in time. This ability doesn't deplete Kratos' magic, but it requires the relic item to recharge for a short amount of time after it's used.

To use this item to slow enemies in combat, press :l2: + :square:. This trophy can literally be farmed on one single enemy or group of enemies (excluding bosses) and it even has a faster cooldown when it's fully upgraded. Once you've upgrade the item by spending 5000 Red Orbs the cooldown will become a 10 second cooldown and the time wrap becomes a larger sphere to catch groups of enemies into it. I advise using this ability against enemies while fighting in combat as it makes quick work of getting rid of the stronger enemies. There is no way to keep track of this trophy's progress, but it'll carry to next chapters as you progress with the story. If you wish to farm this please refer to the "Fully Loaded" trophy description.

You can farm for Red Orbs and 100 slow enemies simultaneously; however, if you already have the Fully Loaded trophy and only need to farm this trophy, then you can do the following:

  1. Use chapter select and load up Chapter 20 - The Gauntlet of Apollo
  2. At the start of the chapter you'll see Megaera's Parasites which are insect-like creatures in front of you
  3. Ignore the Parasites and run to the back of the screen then hold block (:l1:) to avoid damage.
  4. Continue holding block until all of Megaera's Parasites are at the bottom of the screen with you.
  5. Once they're all at the bottom of screen, jump over them onto the upper platform you were previously on.
  6. Now use the Amulet of Uroborus (:l2: + :square:) to hit and slow the group of Parasites all at once.
  7. Once you've used the item quickly switch back to holding block (:l1:) to avoid any damage.
  8. Repeat steps 6 & 7 until you unlocked the trophy.

Perform a 1000 Hit Combo

Specific Chapter Location: Chapter 19 - The Foot of Apollo

Note: Lightning of Zeus method needs to be upgraded to Level 2 while the Soul of Hades method needs to be upgraded to Level 4.

For this trophy you must simply perform a 1000 Hit Combo. This can done at the very beginning of Chapter 19 and there are two methods to go about performing the 1000 hit combo. When the chapter starts, you're supposed to push a boulder out of the way to continue on to the next area. If you so happened to accidentally press the :r1: button, simply press :select: and restart the last checkpoint in order to reset the boulder. Instead of pressing the :r1: button do one of the following methods:

Lightning of Zeus Method

  1. Position yourself in front of the boulder
  2. Switch your weapon to the Lighting of Zeus ()
  3. Now continue spamming the "Zeus Despair" special attack over and over again by pressing :l1: + :square:
  4. Each attack will give you a 4 hit combo!
  5. This will take you 6 minutes to farm the 1000 Hit Combo as you got to keep spamming the "Zeus Despair" special attack 250 times.
  6. Once you've reached the 1000 mark the trophy will unlock.

Soul of Hades Method

  1. Position yourself in front of the boulder
  2. Switch your weapon to the Soul of Hades ()
  3. Now continue spamming the "Underworld Agony" special attack repeatedly by pressing :l1: + :triangle:
  4. Each attack will give you a 6-7 hit combo!
  5. This method will also take you 6 minutes to farm the 1000 Hit Combo as you got to keep spamming the "Underworld Agony" special attack about 168 times
  6. Once you've reached the 1000 mark the trophy will unlock

Kill 25 Enemies using the Rage of the Gods

For this trophy you must kill 25 enemies using the Rage of the Gods which is also known as the Rage Meter. The Rage Meter is displayed in the bottom right hand corner of the screen. In order to fill the Rage Meter up you must first meet the right requirements by doing the following:

  1. Keep attacking enemies with the Blade of Chaos with either :square: or :triangle: combo moves while also avoiding all enemies’ attacks, until the Rage Meter is completely filled. Note the Fire of Ares will charge this meter much faster than any other magic in the game.
  2. Activate the "Rage of Gods" by clicking both :l3: + :r3: together.
  3. While this move is activated you must kill enemies with it.

This should be one of your first trophies in the game that you'll naturally unlock without even trying. Additional, this ability is used to farm an infinite amount of Red Orbs for the "Fully Loaded" trophy.

Below is a complete list of each Rage of the Gods abilities:

  • Fire of Ares - Unleashes Kratos' rage and stun surrounding enemies with Ares' fire; incarnated enemies yields Gold Orbs.
  • Ice of Poseidon - Summons the ice of Poseidon to freeze a single enemy; freezing and shattering enemies yields large amounts Red Orbs.
  • Lightning of Zeus - Electrifies enemies with the quick lighting attacks of Zeus; electrocuting enemies yields Blue Orbs.
  • Soul of Hades - Releases the souls of the Underworld attack multiple enemies; vaporized enemies yields Green Orbs.

Ring out an enemy with the Club

Specific Chapter Location: Chapter 19 - The Foot of Apollo

Note: The Club World item is needed which is found at the end of Chapter 18 - Delos Landing, after solving the chain puzzle.

For this trophy you must ring out an enemy with the Club, which simply means that you must hit and knock an enemy over the ledge with the Club World Weapon. The easiest place to do this trophy is near the beginning of Chapter 19, but you must have the Club with you. Now the Club can be obtained at the end of Chapter 18 and taken with you in Chapter 19, so if you don't have the Club at this point. It's recommended that you use chapter select and replay Chapter 18 all over again to pick it up. During the near beginning of Chapter 19, Kratos will eventually be attacked by Harpies. All you have to do his hit one of them with the Club by pressing the :circle: button. The Harpy will die in one hit as it falls to its death, thus unlocking the trophy in the easiest possible way.

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HShIdCP7Sdw]God of War Ascension - Swinger Trophy Guide - YouTube[/ame]

Additionally, it's also possible to unlock this trophy much earlier during Chapter 16 - Prison of the Damned (Part 2). When you're on a platform where a Cerberus spawns, kill it and then Spartan Kick (:circle:) the Megaera Minion who is wielding the Club. He'll drop the Club for you to pick up with :r1:. Now hit any of Megaera's Minions off the platform with the Club and you'll unlock the trophy.

Hit 100 Enemies with the Oath Stone of Orkos

For this trophy you must hit 100 enemies with the Oath Stone of Orkos. The Oath Stone of Orkos is an item given to Kratos by the mysterious Orkos during the end of Chapter 20 - The Gauntlet of Apollo. This item contains the power to create a clone Kratos who'll resemble Orkos' skin color and pattern. Once this clone is created, it'll remain in the pose it was summoned in, so if Kratos needs to hold a crank or panel in place the clone would do the holding for you. When this stone is used in combat, Kratos can use the stone's power to create another clone of himself who'll attack multiple enemies in rage, disappearing after every attack and reappearing to the closest enemy to repeat the attack again. The only downside to this ability is that it can't be used against bosses or airborne enemies such as Harpies. This ability doesn't deplete Kratos' magic, but it requires the relic item to recharge for a short amount of time after it's used.

To use this item to hit enemies in combat, press :l2: + :triangle: when you're near an enemy. You can even decrease the cooldown and increase the duration of this ability when it's fully upgraded by spending 5000 Red Orbs. It's also recommended that you use this ability against every enemy you fight once you obtain the stone. It works best when used against a group of multiple enemies which also increase the number of hits the clone Kratos will deal towards enemies. All the hits will count towards this trophy's unlocking. Additionally, you'll also unlock the "Hello, Friend" trophy just by using the Oath Stone of Orkos in combat 10 times.

Solve the Rolling Crusher Puzzle

Specific Chapter Location: Chapter 5 - Village Of Kira

Towards the end of Chapter 5 you'll have to pull down a stone pillar in order to progress to the next area. Instead of continuing towards the upper levels of this area stay on ground level and run all the way towards your right. You'll cross a small bridge into a temple like ruins until you reach a secret room with a rotating machine. In the center of this room is a circular platform with three cranks. You want to jump onto this platform (after destroying the wooden barricade in front of it) and use the cranks with the :r1: button, then release the crank to cause large blocks from the walls to come out. This will slow down the Rolling Crusher trap spinning around in the room. If you're caught in the trap you'll automatically die, but will respawn to retry again. Once you've managed to pull the cranks and successfully jumped across the platforms to the top of the platform with a lever between some White and Red Orb chests. Pull the lever and the trophy will unlock. If you missed during chapter 5 of your playthrough, you'll have another opportunity to obtain this trophy during chapter 14 as long as you pulled the lever between the chests.

Specific Chapter Location: Chapter 17 - Martyr's Chamber

For this trophy you must treat the Martyr of Hecatonchires poorly, which means ripping off his arms. This can be done at the very beginning of Chapter 17. When you drop down to ground level you're supposed to use the tortured body to help you get to the upper levels. Instead of do that to the following:

  1. Open and release the tortured body from the device with :r1: then tab :l1: + :r1: as prompted.
  2. Go over to Martyr and use the Amulet of Uroborus to decay his torture device (:l2: + :square: then :rsleft:).
  3. With Martyr free, grapple his corpse with :r1: and bring him to the other torture device.
  4. When Martyr is in front of the torture device release him with :r1: and he'll get captured in the device.
  5. Now run to the back and use the elevator by pressing the :r1: button.

After doing this trophy on your first playthough and you wish to continue on with the story without using the restart from the last checkpoint option in the :select: screen, then do the following:

  1. Jump off of the wooden prison cage and run over to Martyr
  2. Use the Amulet of Uroborus to heal his arms back onto his body and to reset the cage back to it's original starting position (:l2: + :square: then :rsright:).
  3. With Martyr healed, pick up the dead corpse that you previously removed from the device who is laying in front of Martyr with the :r1: button
  4. Bring the dead corpse with you into the elevator and then drop it with :r1:.
  5. Now use the elevator by pressing the :r1: button.
  6. Once on the upper platforms, pick the corpse up again with :r1:.
  7. Walk directly out of the elevator and drop the body over the ledge in front of you.
  8. The body will land on a stone panel and will raise another platform to support the wooden prison cage of Kratos weight.
  9. You're now free to double jump onto the wooden prison cage without it falling, thus allowing you to proceed with the story.

Complete the Screw of Archimedes without getting hit by the Fire Traps

Specific Chapter Location: Chapter: 21 - Martyr’s Chamber

For this trophy you must complete the Screw of Archimedes without getting hit by the Fire Traps. The Screw of Archimedes is actually an elevator with pillars of fire coming out from both sides. When you first enter this elevator you're unable to the ride this elevator all the way to the top. You'll need to use the Oath Stone of Orkos in order to obtain this trophy. This stone is given to Kratos by Orkos and contains the power to create a clone of Kratos. This power can also be used to solve puzzles as it copies Kratos' pose to hold cranks, chains, and pressure plates in place. In order to complete this without getting hit by the fire at all, do the following:

  1. Stand on one of the pressure plates to activate the elevator.
  2. Use the Oath Stone of Orkos while standing on the pressure plate (:l2: + :triangle:).
  3. Kratos' copy will stay there for a while as it keeps the elevator rising.
  4. Stay away from the fire by rolling out of the way with :rs: and block all incoming attacks until you reach the top.
  5. If the copy of Kratos disappears, quickly reapply its effect on another pressure plate.
  6. Once at the top, there is no more fire and you can take your time to kill all enemies.
  7. After all enemies have been eliminated the path to the next chapter unlocks and the trophy will unlock only if you didn't get hit by the fire.

Complete the slide in the Statue of Apollo without dying

Specific Chapter Location: Chapter: 24 - The Shoulder of Apollo

For this trophy you must complete the slide in the Statue of Apollo without dying. This has to be done in one single sitting and you can't do the following:

  1. Die and retry it again without dying
  2. Quit out to the main menu
  3. Restart the last checkpoint
  4. Quit the game with the :ps: button to make a backup save

Doing any of the above items listed will invalidate the trophy from unlocking, even if you did it perfectly. In fact, there is no need to do any of that stuff because this trophy can be done near the very beginning of Chapter 24. All you have to do is kill and survive through 3 waves of enemies. The whole fight will only take 3 to 5 minutes of your time. Afterwards, reconstruct the huge chain back together with the Amulet of Uroborus (:l2: + :square: then :rsright:). Next thing you know you're at the part where you can do this trophy.

When you're ready to begin the sliding, walk through the passage and Kratos will slide in the Statue of Apollo. All you to do is stay focused on not falling off the edge of the ledges or gaps on the floor. You do this by navigating Kratos with the :ls: button. Then, whenever Kratos has to make a jump, get ready to press the :cross: button. It'll always be the :cross: button for every jump he needs to make. There is only one grappling hook that Kratos must latch onto while sliding. This is done with the :r1: button and it's not hard to miss it at all. When the sliding is about to come to an ending point the camera will shift it's angle around, then you must perform one last final jump with the usage of the :cross: button. Kratos will land on both his feet like the pro he really is, thus unlocking the trophy.

Use All 5 World Weapons in Combat

Missable

For this trophy you must use all 5 World Weapons in combat. World Weapons like secondary weapons and can be picked up at multiple locations throughout the entire game. If Kratos doesn't wield a World Weapon, he can attack with his bare fists or use the good old fashion Spartan Kick. Kratos can disarm the weapons of his opponents (:r1: + :circle:) or seemly pick them up off the ground with :r1:. Kratos is also able to throw the weapon at an enemy stunning him in the process (:l1: + :circle:). You don't need to use each weapon in combat to unlock the trophy, but the Club is related with the "Swinger" combat trophy much later in the game. The 5 World Weapons that is present:

  • Sword - A multi-hit weapon that can stun enemies when discarded; Chapter 1
  • Club - A strong weapon that can sometimes disarm enemies; Chapter 5
  • Javelin - A rapid fire, long range weapon. This has a limited amount of throws; Chapter 5
  • Sling - Releases an energy charge that attaches to an enemy and explodes; Chapter 5
  • Shield - A weapon of protection that can stun enemies on discard; Chapter 7

The eyes are in white treasure chests. However, there are far more chests with Gorgon Eyes than you need. So you can miss some of them and still earn the trophy. After getting all 20 Gorgon Eyes you will be rewarded with red orbs every time you open a White chest. If you're collecting them all as you play through the game, this trophy will unlock during Chapter 21, The Forearm of Apollo. Do note that you must reach a checkpoint for it to save. If you die before doing so you must recollect the Gorgon Eyes from that point where you died.

Collect all Artifacts in the game

The game has 10 artifacts and each one can grant you special cheats for use in New Game+ after you beat the game, such as infinite magic. However using them will disable trophies. These artifacts are shown as small, white glowing spots on the ground. Collecting all 10 will earn you this trophy.

Below is a written text guide as well as a video guide:

[spoiler=articol]

  1. Prisoner's Oath Stone - Chapter 2
    • After Exiting the sewers you need to climb a wall and pull a lever. 3 goat warriors will attack you. The first artifact is behind the gate where the goat warriors came from.

[*] Circe's Vial - Chapter 5

  • After fighting the two Elephant Warriors (Juggernauts), go right and jump up the moveable cage. From the cage jump to the balcony.

[*] Oracle Seeker's Offering - Chapter 9 -

  • After returning with the third snake you will see a short scene how a tower gets activated. Go into the tower and instead of going up you need to go down as far as possible.

[*] Aletheia's Charm - Chapter 11

  • Directly above the sand glass. Almost unmissable. You will run into it automatically.

[*] Boat Captain's Idol - Chapter 15

  • After fighting the two ice warriors you need to destroy two metal chains to open a door. Behind the door is water. Dive in and follow the underwater path. There will be a part where you dive up or down. Dive down and you will eventually see this artifact on the ground.

[*] Orko's Cloak - Chapter 16

  • After the cutscene where a man wants to give you a dagger. As soon as you regain control over Kratos, turn around. There is a blue and a green orb chest. Behind these two chests is the next artifact. It's before fighting the green insect lady.

[*] Stonemason's Chisel - Chapter 21

  • After using the Oath Stone of Orkos to get up the elevator you need to look to your right.

[*] Archimedes' Treatise - Chapter 23

  • On a table, next to the corpse of Archimedes. This is after crossing over to the other side with the platform.

[*] Statue Worker's Idol - Chapter 25

  • After you finish the elevator ride, it's in the top left corner of the elevator.

[*] Antikythera Mechanism - Chapter 28

  • After completing the trial of Archimedes you will go back through a blue portal and then a platform will automatically bring you to a lower level. After the elevator stops you can find the final Artifact in the center of the room.

Reconstruct all of the Decayed Chests

Missable

The game has 7 of these chests. Finding all of them will earn you this trophy. To reconstruct the decayed chests you need the Amulet of Uroborus which is acquired automatically in the beginning of Chapter 13. Stand in front of the chests and press :l2: + :square: to reconstruct them. There is no need to loot the chests, but it's best to open them all as you'll need the extra Red Orbs for the "Fully Loaded" trophy. If you die or restart checkpoints you will have to do it again! Doing this via chapter select can unlock the trophy as long as they were collected in order. The first chest is in chapter 13 and the last one in chapter 19, so you need to replay chapters 13 through 19 again in one single playthrough if you've missed something.

Below is a written text guide as well as a video guide:

[spoiler=textdecade]

  1. Chapter 13
    • From where the Oracle is located you need to go left. The decayed chest is at the very end of a broken bridge and hard to see.

[*]Chapter 14

  • Immediately after this chapter starts you will jump down to a room with a big bull statue. When leaving this room you will run straight into the decayed chest.

[*]Chapter 14

  • In the same corridor the last decayed chest was in. Keep going down the corridor and turn right.

[*]Chapter 14

  • After reconstructing the last decayed chest you need to exit the corridor and go outside. Kill all enemies. Instead of going left to repair the bridge you need to go to the far right. Due to the fixed camera angles you cannot see this chest until you stand in front of it.

[*]Chapter 14

  • From the last chest go left, but do not repair the bridge yet. Drop down to the ruins. At the very end of the ruins is the chest (next to a wooden swing bridge).

[*]Chapter 16

  • Shortly after you see the head of the dead Titan Hecatonchires (the boss you killed in the beginning of the game) you will enter the prison area. Go right and you will run straight into the chest.

[*]Chapter 19

  • The last decayed chest is in the very beginning of chapter 19. After climbing up the wall you need to go right. This is immediately after you finish climbing.

Additionally, despite this trophy being marked as missable which it can be missed if you've happen to fail at fully upgrading Kratos by the end of Chapters 28-29 because Chapter 30 has no Red Orbs at all and is the fight against the final bosses of the game. However, there are two ways to guarantee that this trophy will unlock for you in one playthrough.

Below are the chapter's farming locations and how to perform them:

Chapter 20 Method - Farming Spartans

  1. Make it to the 2nd phase during the boss fight against Megaera.
  2. When Megaera jumps onto the rooftops you've made it to the part where you can farm Red Orbs. This is also a checkpoint so if you're low on health die first and you'll respawn with a full health bar.
  3. When the 5 Spartans spawn press :ps: and take not of your current time zone's time. There is a hidden 15 minute timer to this farming and if it expires Megaera will disappear off the rooftops. If this happens you'll have to restart the checkpoint and will lose your farmed Red Orbs. Don't worry though as there is another solution to resetting the 15 minute hidden timer.
  4. Attack the Spartans with the Fire of Ares (press :left:) to make the Rage Meter fill faster.
  5. When the Rage Meter is full, change to Ice of Poseidon (press :right:) and click both :l3: + :r3: and freeze a single Spartan.
  6. After freezing an enemy change back to the Fire of Ares (press :left:) and quickly kill him.
  7. After he shatters and switch back to the Ice of Poseidon (press :right:) and then use it's magic attack with :r2: to turn all other Spartans to Ice.
  8. Now quickly kill them with the Fire of Ares weapon to get large amounts of Red Orbs when you shatter them.
  9. In order to reset the hidden 15 minute timer here, use the Javelins (press :circle:) that drop around the field to knock Megaera off the rooftops and ignore the prompted white icon over her head. She'll do back onto the rooftops resetting the 15 minute timer.
  10. Repeat steps 4-7 until you fully upgrade your equipment.
  11. WARNING: After finishing the farming process be careful not to die by the Spartans, otherwise the game will restart the last checkpoint which is where you began the farming method, thus all progress would be lost.

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eGFnRIt_nZk]God of War: Ascension - Infinite Red Orb Farming / Glitch - YouTube[/ame]

Chapter 25 Method - Farming Satyrs

  1. Use chapter select and load up Chapter 25 - The Furnace (Part 2)
  2. Activate the elevator
  3. Get rid of the Hound by throwing him into the fire.
  4. Position yourself so the attacks push the enemy away from the fire in the middle. If the enemy gets hit into the fire more enemies will spawn, thus making it harder to farm Red Orbs.
  5. Attack the Satyrs with the Fire of Ares (:left:) to make the Rage Meter fill faster.
  6. When the Rage Meter is full, change to the Ice of Poseidon (:right:) and click both the :l3: + :r3: together to freeze him.
  7. After the freeze quickly change back to the Fire of Ares (:left:) and kill him.
  8. Repeat steps 4-7 until you fully upgrade your equipment.
  9. WARNING: After finishing the farming process be careful not to fall in the pits before the checkpoint, otherwise the game will restart the last checkpoint which is where you began the farming method, thus all progress would be lost.

Complete the MP Training in Olympus

:psn:: You must be signed into the Sony Entertainment Network to unlock this trophy.

An Online Pass is required for this trophy.

  • Zeus

  • Poseidon

  • Hades

  • Ares

Once you've completed the training tutorial you most choose to leave Olympus and you'll unlock the trophy.

Thanks everyone.

if u die when your framing for tag team those it still counts towards your trophy. and also for slowing your enemy down

If you die while farming the 100 slow enemies or the 100 hits with for the tag team trophies. Then no it'll reset back you whatever amount you're currently at. For example, lets say you already have 68 slows and farm 20 more for a total of 88 but then died without reaching the next checkpoint. You'll go back to your previous checkpoint amount which is the 68.

For "Tag Teamed", you say it's :l2: + :triangle: for Orkos

but for "Fireproof", you say it's :l1: + :triangle: ...

Sudden mistake or does both work? o.O

Other than that, great guide Blaze.

No that is a small error. I'll go through and fix them as well as a few grammar. And thank you. :)

Very nice guide. Very professional looking! 5 stars from me!

Thank you mate. :)

Great guide!

For the "You Bastards!" trophy, I believe you don't need to restart from the last checkpoint if you play on Hard difficulty. I just used the Amulet of Uroborus to give him his arms back.

WoW! Thanks for this information. I didn't know you could heal his arms back to his body. Once you did it you were stuck and unable to get back up to the top. This was also a big help, so thank you once again mate. :)

great guide, got platinum on sunday! and for "You Bastards!" I just healed him back and everything worked fine no restart last checkpoint. Trial of Archimedes was difficult but not impossible. I just made sure to use gorgon minigames to finish cooldowns and ares wrath to knock seirins off. also I made sure to have full magic at the end of round 1 to just rape the wraiths in round 3.

Holy sheeeeeeet, that's a detailed guide :applause:

Whichever one is chosen, I think I'll be using this one as your other GOW guides (in fact, every guide of yours) has been excellent. I particularly like the "trophy flowchart", that's an excellent addition!

5 stars from me too :)

Guide has updated, made some corrections here and there, and fixed a few grammar problems. Got night class tomorrow and some college work to deal with. Supplement guides will be up on Thursday due to that reason and I'll submit the guide on Friday.

Thanks for all your feedback. If there's anything else needed to be added or mention. Please leave a comment. Thank you. :)
