Blaze Naruto Shippuden
There are card packs that you can buy to strengthen your decks from the psn store. Each of these are DLC add on and cost $1.99 each. The starter deck you get is very very bad. You might be tempted to buy one of these packs. Here is a list of what is in each of the Card Parks. Just click on the link to be taken to the card list. You might not know what the cards do in the list but you can click on them to read the card. Some with experience will know what the card is just by reading the title of the card name: Card Pack 01 - Cynthia's Deck Card Pack 02 - George's Deck Card Pack 03 - Paul's Deck Card Pack 04 - Skyun's Deck Card Pack 05 - Kuwabara's Deck Card Pack 06 - H.S. Deck Card Pack 07 - Crow's Deck Card Pack 08 - Yuko and Catherine's Deck's Card Pack 09 - Toshi's Deck Card Pack 10 - Mary's Deck Now just by looking through these list. I recommend the Crow's Deck and Cynthia's Deck. Crow's deck has Blackwing monsters and Blackwings was Meta back in the 2010 champion/tournament days. Blackwings will be good for this game. Course there are many other decks you can build just don't got the right cards to make those type of decks yet though. Cynthia's Deck has a lot of Elemental Hero theme cards which was also very good in the 2010s format. Just suggestions on with packs to purchase off the store if you're struggling on winning duels with that lame starter deck they gave you. There are also 5 Starter Decks on the store for $2.99, however I don't know what they are at the moment and I'm sure not going drop $3 just to find out. If you purchased them and like to share, feel free to post the list/deck theme. Update: Here Starter Deck 05. It's a Warrior Theme deck. It's very good and competitive on it's own. I really took some cards from it and strengthen my Blackwing deck. Took cards like enemy controller, hammer shot, trap hole, dust tornado (got three of those now), shrink , got another copy of Sakuretsu Armor, threatening roar. All in all, very good support cards. This will take awhile to add links to them since I got to use tinyurl.com. For now just highlight the card you want to read and google search it. Wikia will be the first thing to show up. Starter Deck 05 - 39 cards in main deck (you need to add 1 card or improve it your own) 4 Extra deck [spoiler=warrior] Monsters - 19 1x - Battle Footballer 1x - Blazing Inpachi 1x - Tune Warrior 1x - Chainsaw Insect 1x - Dark Tuner 1x - Exiled Force 1x - Fortress Warrior 1x - Giant Rat 1x - Hayabusa Knight 1x - Junk Synchro 1x - Man-Eater Bug 1x - Quickblot Hedgehog 1x - Speed Warrior 1x - Turret Warrior 1x - Twin-Sword Marauder 2x - Warror Lady of the Wasteland 1x - Worn Apocalyps 1x - X-Saber Gaiahad Spells - 17 1x - Banner of Courage 1x - Card Destruction 1x - Enemy Controller 1x - Giant Trunade 1x - Hammer Shot 1x - Monster Reincarnation 1x - Reinforcement of the Army 1x - Shrink 1x - Synchro Boost 1x - The Warrior Returning Alive 1x - Twister Traps - 9 1x - Defense Draw 1x - Dust Tornado 1x - Raigeki Break 1x - Rising Energy 1x - Rope of Life 1x - Sakuretsu Armor 1x - Secret Barrel 1x - Threatening Roar 1x - Trap Hole Extra - 4 1x - Colossal Fighter 1x - Gaia Knight, the Force of Earth 1x - X-Saber Urbelum 1x - X-Saber Wayne Edited February 14, 2013 by Blaze Naruto Shippuden

greenzsaber
So roughly what period in the 5Ds era are the cards in this game from? From the title I'm positive it won't have the current XYZ monsters, and will go up to Synchros only, but does it have almost all of the Synchros in the 5Ds series, like Goyo, Trishula, Brionac, Blackwing Armor Master, or is it in the middle of the series where there's it's missing a lot of cards before XYZ came along? yewjhin
Do the card packs contain all the cards in the list, or just part of it (like in real-life booster packs)?

Based on 5D's generation yes. Even has broken cards like Crush Card Virus and Harpies Feather Duster . Do the card packs contain all the cards in the list, or just part of it (like in real-life booster packs)? It'll give you half the cards. Basically 1 of each card listed. I brought the blackwings one and it came with 21 in the main deck list and 3 Synchro Monsters. However, after making my own starter deck with them. I won more often and gotten some more cards from my wins based off luck though.
Darthjoker
I am tempted to buy this game. But I have a question: Is it really necessary to buy the booster packs? (I know they can make the beggining of the game easier) But I mean, if I dont buy the packs: I can't get the cards in the game? or do all of the cards in the booster packs can be obtained in-game while playing? (like old yugioh games used to do) Also the previous answer said that you get half the card in the list if you buy the pack. That means that you need to buy several packs to get the complete list of cards? and are they randomize?
BlazingAce197
I'm a little confused right now. Do you have a certain number of cards unlocked by default and unlock more by winning matches? Or are all unlocked right away, except the DLC cards obviously...?
greenzsaber
I'm really wondering what the ban/restricted list is like in this game. Using the likes of Raigeki and Harpie's Feather Duster would be cool. I am tempted to buy this game. But I have a question: Is it really necessary to buy the booster packs? That means that you need to buy several packs to get the complete list of cards? and are they randomize? All the previous yugioh games I played let you get all the cards eventually through normal means. The booster packs from my understanding just allow you to have an easier start as you said. It wouldn't really make sense to make the booster pack cards exclusive since most decks run multiple copies of a card and the packs only have one of a certain card it looks like. I'm a little confused right now. Do you have a certain number of cards unlocked by default and unlock more by winning matches? Or are all unlocked right away, except the DLC cards obviously...? Typically, most yugioh games just give you a starter deck and winning a match lets you pick a pack that gives you 5 or so cards out of 100+ possible ones (kind of like the booster packs in real life ) and you slowly build a competent deck from there. I don't expect this one to be any different Edited February 13, 2013 by greenzsaber

However DLC just giving some of them right away and surely help you win faster, if u cant bear losing then this is another option
skyye06
Is there a list of the best deck combinations with the dlc? They need to have a dumber ai as I'm getting my ass handed with the regular deck. Edited February 13, 2013 by skyye06
BlazingAce197
Oh, thanks for clearing that up you two. You make it sound like the DLCs are just shortcuts. Are, for example, the Blackwing cards obtainable without having to buy the pack?
Darthjoker
Thanks for the answer. I think I will buy the game. Give it a few tries and see if I can beat it without buying any pack. Altough so far the demo is hard. and fro comments the other part is even harder.
Blaze Naruto Shippuden
I'm really wondering what the ban/restricted list is like in this game. Using the likes of Raigeki and Harpie's Feather Duster would be cool. I won Harpie's Feather Duster last night and the card is banned. This meas that Raigeki is banned too. I don't have Raigeki yet though, it's just that when Harpie's Feather Duster was banned Raigeki was banned along with it. This means the banlist is March 2010s March 2010 Lists - Yu-Gi-Oh! The other one is September, but i don't have a card from this list to confirm it the September ban list is in the game. September 2010 Lists - Yu-Gi-Oh! I defeated both Yusei Fudo and Jack Atlas already. Only Pack I brought was the Blackwings Pack. I won every game with my deck and gotten new cards. My Ace card is the 4000 attack and 4000 defense beef stick: Arcana Force EX - The Light Ruler http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120409034227/yugioh/images/thumb/e/e0/ArcanaForceEXTheLightRuler-DT06-EN-DRPR-DT.jpg/300px-ArcanaForceEXTheLightRuler-DT06-EN-DRPR-DT.jpg Effect: Cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. Must be Special Summoned (from your hand) by sending 3 monsters you control to the Graveyard, and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. When this card is Special Summoned: Toss a coin and gain the appropriate effect.Heads: When this card destroys an opponent's monster by battle and sends it to the Graveyard: You can target 1 card in your Graveyard; add that target to your hand. Tails: During either player's turn, when a Spell Card, Trap Card, or Effect Monster's effect activates that targets this card: Negate the activation and destroy it, and this card loses 1000 ATK. Pretty sure it's the March List because the September list has Brain Control listed as Forbidden, but in the game you're allowed 1 copy meaning it's Limited. People on GameFAQs is saying its following a 2009 Ban List but regardless I don't think it should even really matter, unless you're one whos dedicated enough to play grind single player to even get the cards to create the strongest deck to fit whatever format it is then theres really no point in trying to figure it out especially with sites like DuelingNetwork where we have a full card library at our disposal. Added to that the game doesn't even have the full library in them so thats like banning hundreds/thousands of cards right there.

Setsuna
guaranteeing purchase tommrow morning Keep in mind that card distribution is completely random so if you did buy the game you probably wouldn't even have all remotely close to all of the cards you desire for your ideal deck even after many hours of grinding and with the online being as buggy as it currently is it may not be worth it atm. Yeah that's such a pain the ass. I used to play Tag Force Duel 2 on PSP and it was better where you earn credits and use them to purchase booster packs from in game store
