Introduction:

 

Wonder Boy in Monster World is a 2D side-scrolling game where you traverse different countries, recruit magical allies, and upgrade to more powerful weapons and armour on your quest to bring peace back to Monster World! When you kill enemies, you get gold which you can then spend on new weapons and armour. There are also various boss battles for you to engage in. Is your sword at the ready!?

 

Step 1: New Game and Sign

 

Start a new game and don’t press anything to get The Great Blue Awaits, then get Welcome to Monster World by finding the sign (see trophy).

 

Step 2: Progress Through Story Up To Final Boss

 

As you progress through the story, make sure you get Have Mercy!, Renowned Spearman and Wizard. You will also pick up Hello Poseidon, Hello Sphinx and Hello Dragon as you progress through the story naturally. Then when you get to the final boss, if you haven’t already you should find all the legendary equipment, hearts and the Charm Stone. You’ll need the hearts and legendary equipment for the final boss anyway.

 

Step 3: Beat the Final Boss

 

Now beat the final boss and you‘ll earn Congratulations!.

Do not skip the SEGA logo sequence.

 

When you start the game, just don’t press anything, and the trophy will pop.

Find the "Welcome to Monster World" sign.

 

The sign is located on the 2nd screen after starting the game. You need to walk in front of the sign and press to read it, then the trophy will pop!

Try staying at an inn without enough gold.

 

When you use an Inn it saves your game and you regain full magic and hearts. The first inn you come across is in the first town, Alsedo. It costs 10 gold to stay at this inn, so you need to have less than 10 gold to get the trophy. Walk further on past the inn and you will find a weapons shop. Enter and spend all of your gold (or at least only leave 9 or less). Then go back and enter the inn. Ask to stay and you’ll get the trophy!

Guard against 10 attacks by spinning a spear-type weapon.

 

In Alsedo, buy the Small Spear. However, you should then wait because the easiest place to get this trophy is further on in the story.

 

Click spoiler tag to see, but note there are *SPOILERS*: [spoiler=WBIMWTG64] After you have saved the boy from the dwarf village and he joins you on your journey, he will eventually smash open the gold monster cave. You will get to an area where heads are shooting arrows at you, this is the perfect opportunity!

Find the precious Charm Stone.

 

The charmstone is available to buy in a store and it costs 500,000 gold. You could grind to 500,000 gold, however, that would take far too long so I would recommend that you find it. It is inside the pyramid but you need to have found all the Pygmy Equipment before you can get it. You then need to turn yourself into a smaller version of yourself by entering the house featured at the start of the following video.

Use all types of magic.

 

Magic is easily found in chests throughout the game, and sometimes enemies drop them when you kill them. All you have to do is use each type of magic at least once.

 

There are 6 types of magic:

Fire Storm

Thunder

Shield

Quake

Power

Return

 

NOTE: You can only get 1 Return magic, and it's found in a chest in the underwater labyrinth.

To make it a lot easier for you, there is a hidden door to a secret chest in the pyramid which contains one of every type of magic except 'Return' (Fire, Thunder, Quake, Power, Shield).

 

Stand exactly where I am in the next screenshot and press . There is a secret door that takes you up to the chest:

Collect all the heart containers.

 

Here is a list of the extra heart locations:

 

• In the first monster cave to the right of Alsedo.
  
• In the second monster cave: It is in a side passage, requires flipping a switch, and also requires you to have the little boy Hotta with you.
  
• In the ocean left of Alsedo; you need the trident. It is toward the right side.
  
• In the cave between Alsedo and Puripil. A secret door is in the second puddle of water from the right. Requires the Trident. The door doesn’t lead to the chest directly, you have to follow a path to get to it.
  
• In Poseidon’s cave. Look around under water toward the beginning.
  
• In the ice cave, toward the end, on the left side.
  
• In the small path to the left of the falling boulder in the cave to the right of Lilipad. Requires you to become a Pygmy.
  
• In the pyramid, there is a small opening to the left of the spiked ceiling room. Go through it as a pygmy, go down the ladder, and then walk left through the wall that is left of the door I went through on the video for Rare Find.
  
• In the volcano, it is under the lava at the very left of a path. The path is the first one with a snake coming out of it.
  
• In the clouds above Puripil (before the 5th monster cave).
  
• In the 5th monster cave, there is a secret door on the bottom path of the trolley track which will transform you into a pygmy. There is a path to the left of the legendary armour which you must go through once you are a pygmy. The heart is in there.
  

 

 

As you go through the story, tick off the ones you have collected. Then go back through to get the others before you face the final boss.

Collect all legendary equipment.

 

The Legendary equipment is the absolute best equipment you can get.

The Legend Sword, Legend Shield, Legend Armour and Legend Boots make up the equipment.

The Legend Sword is story related and cannot be missed. You’ll receive it from the blacksmith in the dragon village by giving him 2 items to forge the sword with.

 

You can find the other equipment in the Nightmare Castle, here is where you can find them:

 

Legendary Boots - When you are on the trolley track, jump down past the trolley, and walk to the left. Kill the ghosts, and drop down at the end. Go right until you get bounced onto a platform with a chest on it. The legendary boots are inside the chest.

 

Legendary Armour - Next, go back to the top and ride on the trolley this time. Stay on it all the way down, and make sure you duck under the spikes. When you reach the bottom left, jump up onto the platform that you wouldn’t be able to reach if you weren’t on the trolley. When you are on the platform, go up the chain. Jump onto the rope on the ceiling, and jump onto the other one to avoid the spikes. Fall down the pit you were in the middle of going over. When you‘re down there, open the chest to find yourself some legendary armour.

 

Legendary Shield - When you come to the place where there is two ropes, make sure you have thunder magic equipped. Then go up the second one and when get to the middle, use your thunder magic. This will kill all the tomatoes. Ride the rope down, and then get on the first rope. When you get to the top, you will see a chest. Open it for the Legendary Shield.

Finish the game.

 

Story related, and cannot be missed. Make sure you have an elixir and a hi-potion before you fight the final boss. Also, I would advise you equip power magic as this will take more health away from the final boss.

 

When you defeat the final boss the trophy will pop!
