Notes:

  • If you buy one of the non-trilogy releases, then you may have to download a patch to enable trophies.
  • This game is really buggy so make frequent saves and back them up to a USB drive and the PS+ Save File Cloud. Doing this will ensure you have a backup handy should anything go wrong and you get glitched.
  • This game does not stack with the trilogy release.
  • If you have the Japanese Stackable release then you may have trouble downloading the Trophy Patch see here for details: LINK though as of at least Dec 2nd 2014, the patch seems to be stable and downloading normally (credit to kfree7 for this info).
  • Unlike the Xbox 360 version there is no DLC for the PS3 release of Tomb Raider: Underworld and there never will be because of an exclusivity agreement with Microsoft.
  • Contrary to popular belief, you do not have to delete the patch to use any of the cheats as they will still work with it installed.
  • Credit to THX 1138 4EB for the following info:
    Quote
If at any time you set the in-game language to Japanese, most text will be in Japanese even if you set it back to English. Restart the game to correct this.
Also, the subtitles are in Japanese no matter what language is set.

Introduction

Tomb Raider Underworld is the third game in the series, it take place after the events of Tomb Raider: Anniversary and Legend and includes previous characters from both the games. The game focuses around Lara's mother, who has been missing since Lara was a child because she touched the artifact in the Himalayas (which was believed sent her to the underworld). Lara must travel across the world, exploring dangerous tombs and fighting perilous enemies, until she finds the answers she needs.

The Platinum is an easy one, it's just the treasures which will take the most amount of time but it's still fun looking for them. The difficulty isn't something to worry about as the game is easy even on Hard.

Walkthrough

Step 1: Complete the game on Hard difficulty and get the misc trophies

First of all, you will want to start a new game on Hard (Master Survivalist) difficulty as this will ensure you get the difficult trophies out the way. During this step you will also want to get all the misc trophies such as Swan Diver 1-3, Speed Demon and all the other trophies that involve enemies. This is because once you enter Treasure Hunt mode, there are no enemies to fight therefore you'd need to start a new game. You can get all the treasures and relics in this playthrough if you want the Plat quickly because getting all the treasures will make it take not as long but you won't be familiar with the levels and you may get confused as to where the treasures are etc. After this step you should have all the misc trophies and the Master Survivalist trophy. If you got all the treasure and relics, continue to Step 3.

Step 2: Treasures and Relics via Treasure Hunt Mode

Once you've completed the game, you can replay in Treasure Hunt mode. This is a mode that has no enemies and you just look for the treasures and relics. There are 179 treasures and 6 relics across all the levels and you need all of them for the trophies. There is a nasty glitch which causes some treasures to glitch and just disappear from the game world, to avoid this we highly advise you save the game before you pick up every treasure. That may sound like a hassle but it's better than starting the whole treasure hunt over again. There may be a possible solution to the glitch, see the "Useful Links" part above for more info on that. At the end of this step you should have all the trophies and the Platinum, congrats! if not continue to Step 3.

Step 3: Clean up

Missed out on a misc trophy? Didn't get a relic or treasure at some point? well now is the time to go back and get those misc trophies done to secure yourself a Platinum. The most likely thing you've missed is a grenade trophy as they can be random to get. See the Trophy Guide for more info.

01.jpg Master of Tomb Raider: Underworld (P)

Earn all the Trophies in Tomb Raider: Underworld

Congratulations, you have unlocked all the trophies for Tomb Raider: Underworld.

02.jpg Prologue (B)

Complete the Prologue

Spoiler

The Prologue takes place at Croft Manor, it's basically a tutorial level in which you have to navigate the burning mansion to escape. The next paragraph involves a walkthrough so if don't want to know what happens, then don't read the next paragraph.

You start off in a corridor, then ahead of you there's a right turn and you need to climb over the debris which is on fire, continue turning and you will reach a high wall which you then get told how to climb. Now go up the stairs and pull the power switch to open the door. You're now in another room which is on fire and you either have to crouch or roll under the wood. Climb the big wall and you will see a wooden door, you need to use grapple to pull the door down. Go through the door and you will be in a corridor, on the wall opposite you there's a ledge above the hole in the floor, you need to jump towards that and grapple onto it, then climb along as far as it will let you go and then jump up to the ledge above. Climb across this ledge and when you reach the end drop down to the ledge below, climb across this as far as it will go and then jump backwards and land on the corridor bit sticking out, proceed up the corridor. There's a big box here and you need to push it to the wall in the distance, once it's pressed firmly against the wall climb up the box and jump up to the small ledge above and grab on, now climb along it to the right over the debris, you then need to jump to land over it. Once that's done the floor will fall right in front of you and you need to run and jump to get through the door ahead, once through the door make a left turn and head down the hallway which is engulfed in flames. After you reach the end there's a bit where you can jump to reach the other side of the stairs, you need to jump and then use your grapple and swing across to the other side. Once you're on the other side go right and you will see the stone railing has broken and crumbled, drop down here to the floor below. A cutscene will play with Zip and the butler and that signals the end of the Prologue.

The trophy will pop soon after the cutscene finishes.

03.jpg Master Survivalist (G)

Complete the game on hardest possible settings

The hardest possible settings is referring to "Master Survivalist" difficulty, set it to that when starting the game for the first time. This difficulty setting isn't very hard, as Tomb Raider: Underworld doesn't have many enemies in it to hurt you. On the rare occasion that there are, the enemies will deal a lot of damage to you if they land a successful shot or hit on you, so avoid that if possible. There are always Med Kits lying around as well, so be sure to have plenty of those on you too. The trophy will unlock if you completed the entire game on the 'Tomb Raider' setting at the end of Arctic sea expedition. If you want to make this even easier, use the Cheats mentioned in the Road Map as they don't disable any trophies.

04.jpg Treasure Collector (B)

Find 10 Treasures

Self explanatory, this trophy will unlock after finding 10 Treasures.

See Master Treasure Collector for a video playlist which will show you how to get all 179 Treasures in the game, it will also provide a glitch warning. If you have been collecting every Treasure from the start you will unlock this trophy during the first level (not the Prologue).

05.jpg Skilled Treasure Collector (S)

Find 50 Treasures

Self explanatory, this trophy will unlock after finding 50 Treasures.

See Master Treasure Collector for a video playlist which will show you how to get all 179 Treasures in the game, it will also provide a glitch warning. If you have been collecting every Treasure from the start you will unlock this trophy during the Thailand level.

05.jpg Dedicated Treasure Collector (S)

Find 100 Treasures

Self explanatory, this trophy will unlock after finding 100 Treasures. If you have been collecting every Treasure from the start you will unlock this trophy during the Mexico level.

See Master Treasure Collector for a video playlist which will show you how to get all 179 Treasures in the game, it will also provide a glitch warning.

07.jpg Master Treasure Collector (G)

Find all 179 Treasures

GLITCH WARNING

This trophy is extremely buggy so save before picking up a Treasure, then wait 10-15secs before doing so. After picking up a Treasure, check it has registered by pressing :select: and checking the Treasure counter in the "Area Info" section. A handy tip is to do this on your 2nd playthrough on 'Treasure Hunt' mode as there are no enemies to bother you. This is only trophy that will require time as that's a lot of treasures to pick up. You will unlock this trophy after picking up the last treasure before the boss fight on Arctic Sea expedition if you collected every other Treasure beforehand. Here is a breakdown of each of the levels treasures:

  • Prologue - 0 Treasures
  • Mediterranean Sea - 26 Treasures - There are none on the boat at the end of the level.
  • Coastal Thailand - 30 Treasures
  • Croft Manor - 13 Treasures
  • Southern Mexico - 50 Treasures
  • Jan Mayen Island - 30 Treasures
  • Andaman Sea - 0 Treasures
  • Arctic Sea - 30 Treasures

A Treasure is a shiny object on the floor, you press :triangle: to pick them up. They are hidden away most the time and aren't in clear view, but you will pick up a few along the way without trying. Most treasures are hidden in urns which you have to kick to break them open (press :triangle:), not all urns have treasures in the so follow the playlist and/or the text guide linked below.

If you get all or the majority of the treasures in story mode, then it's unlikely you will get glitched when you go into Treasure Hunt Mode (credit to yuri03042 for this info).

Tomb Raider Underworld Relics and Treasures

08.jpg Relic Collector (B)

Find a Relic

Self explanatory, find one Relic. See Master Relic Collector for a video walkthrough for all 6 Relics. You will get this during the first level (not the Prologue) if you find the Relic there.

09.jpg Dedicated Relic Collector (S)

Find 3 Relics

Self explanatory, find 3 Relics. See Master Relic Collector for a text walkthrough for all 6 Relics. You will unlock this trophy during the Mexico level if you got the relics on the previous 3 levels before this.

10.jpg Master Relic Collector (G)

Find all 6 Relics

A Relic is a unique treasure in 6 of the levels in this game, they are difficult to find and chances are you won't accidentally stumble across one of them. Relics don't glitch so you don't have to worry about saving after every one you pick up. See the video below for all the Relic locations. Do note that there are no Relics in the Prologue, the boat section at the end of the Mediterranean Sea Expedition or in the Andaman Sea Expedition:

11.jpg Swan Diver I (B)

Swan dive from the top of the Kraken Room

This is the very first Swan Diver trophy and you get it during the first level. When you are in the room with the Kraken boss you will want to go to the very top of this room (Reached by doing a wall jump above the dead Kraken's head. You will also get the Master Climber trophy here too). Once up there you will want to perform a swan dive. To perform a Swan dive you want to first run, then jump with :cross: and while in the air press :circle:. This will make Lara perform a Swan dive (Looks like a normal dive), it may take a while to master but once you have done it a few times, Swan diving will feel like second nature. If done correctly you will unlock the trophy shortly afterwards.

See Master Swan Diver for more details.

12.jpg Swan Diver II (B)

Swan dive from the top of Amanda's Ship

GLITCH WARNING

Save your game before attempting this trophy as it's extremely buggy and glitch prone. If it fails to pop then try shifting your position a little and try again. The location for this is at the end of the first level on Amanda's boat (The lady from Tomb Raider: Legend). Take out the guards and move onto the next area of the ship, on the left hand side you will see a box that says 'Life Jackets' on it, you want to jump onto this and then swan dive into the sea below. To perform a swan dive you want to first perform a moving forwards jump, then jump with :cross: and while in the air press :circle:. This will make Lara perform a Swan dive (Looks like a normal dive), it may take a while to master but once you have done it a few times, Swan diving will feel like second nature. If done correctly you will unlock the trophy shortly afterwards though if it glitches and doesn't, either get back up and try again or reload your save.

See Master Swan Diver for more details.

13.jpg Swan Diver III (B)

Swan dive from the top of the cliffs of Thailand

After earning this trophy you will also get the "Master Swan Diver" trophy too. This jump is at the very start of the level. You want to traverse up the cliff face and follow the levels linear path until you reach the area where you have to wall jump to reach the higher area of the cliff. As soon as you get up here you want to turn left and Swan Dive into the sea, if done correctly the trophy will unlock along with 'Master Swan Diver'.

It's also possible to fail this jump and still get the trophy: LINK (credit to Webstar for this info).

See Master Swan Diver for more details.

14.jpg Master Swan Diver (G)

Earn all three Swan Diver trophies

GLITCH WARNING

All 3 Swan Dives have to be done in order and in one playthrough else this trophy will glitch. If it does glitch then you will have to delete all your saves (including the locked one), start a new game and redo all 3. See the trophies relating to this one for details on how to get this trophy or see the video below which shows you how to get all 3 Swan Dives.

Credit to Fragger and RoosterTeeth for the video.

15.jpg Climber (B)

Execute a chimney jump of at least 2 wall kicks

Very easy trophy and you will get it during the story, because there is many areas in which you have to wall jump more than twice, you will also get it by going for the "Swan Diver I" trophy.

See Master Climber for more details.

16.jpg Master Climber (S)

Execute a chimney jump of at least 4 wall kicks

Both this and Climber can be done in the Boss chamber in the Mediterranean Sea Expedition level. When you get to the part where you have to shoot the Rings there will be a high narrow gap where the Right-Hand Ring is. You can't wall kick here until after the chains have been destroyed. To wall kick you have to first face the wall you want to kick off on then press the :ls: towards that wall and press :cross:, just repeat this until you reach the top where the trophy will pop soon afterwards. Refer to the video under "Master Swan Diver" for the tutorial on how to get it.

17.jpg Speed Demon I (B)

Drive into Xibalba in under 45 seconds

This is the first Speed Demon trophy and it's on the Southern Mexico level, this trophy isn't glitched like the Swan Diver trophies. After you have finished the second ring puzzle the floor in the arena will open up and you have to drive as fast as you can to the arena to get into the hole in the floor or it will close up. If you get into it first time before it closes you will get the trophy, all you need to do is go back the way you came and when you reach the 3 turns go left to reach the arena. The trophy will unlock shortly afterwards if you did it in time.

See Master Speed Demon for details.

18.jpg Speed Demon II (B)

Drive from the top of Valgrind to the bottom in under 50 seconds

This at the very start of the Jan Mayen island level. All you need to do is ride down the spiral hill going down to the floor, if you don't fall off you will get the trophy. Avoid the dead things as they will slow you down a lot. You just have to reach the bottom when the locked door is in 50 seconds. There is also a useful glitch where straight away you can just drive off the edge and fall to your death at the floor below, see this thread for a detailed explanation:

Speed Demon II Glitch (a good one)

See Master Speed Demon for more details.

19.jpg Speed Demon III (B)

Drive through the Valhalla Maze in under 40 seconds

This is also on the Jan Mayen island level. It's probably the hardest of them all as you have to navigate the maze which is directly after you open the door at the first bit of the level. There is those ice enemies in here, you want to ignore them and just navigate the maze making the right turns to reach the end, it's not very big. As soon as you enter you want to take the right hand turn, at the next turning go left under the broken archway thing. The path ahead is blocked so you then want to go right, then go left towards the ramp. Now make a left turn and jump over the ramp, go right and then you reach the area when you have to dismount the bike. Trophy will unlock here if you did it correctly.

See Master Speed Demon for more details.

20.jpg Master Speed Demon (G)

Beat all three Speed Demon challenges

This trophy will automatically unlock after obtaining the other three speed demon trophies, so you will most likely unlock it straight after 'Speed Demon III'. All the trophies just require you to go from point A to B in a certain amount of time, there is no timer on the screen so you just have to count in your head (You don't need to do that as most the time if you don't die or take a wrong turning you will still beat the required time. See the above three trophies for text information on each time trial or refer to the video below:

(Start watching from 2:36 to skip the puzzle walkthrough).

21.jpg Roadkiller (B)

Kill an enemy by running over it with the motorcycle

The first opportunity to get this trophy is during the Southern Mexico level. As soon as you start the level you are on a bike, press :r2: to accelerate and :l2: to brake. What you want to do is just run over any enemy, the first enemies you will encounter are the panthers and they take quite a few hits with the bike to kill. Upon running over any enemy and killing it the trophy will unlock shortly afterwards.

See Master Roadkiller for more details.

22.jpg Master Roadkiller (S)

Kill five enemies by running over them with the motorcycle

This trophy carries on through the story so you don't have to run five over in a single level, However, there is very few chances to use the bike. The best place to get this is during the Southern Mexico level whilst you're in the underground section. All you have to do is run over every one of the Giant Tarantulas you see by running them over with the motorbike and the trophy will pop after killing the fifth one. You can also run the panthers and mercenaries over in the jungle section, but they take a lot of hits with the bike before before finally dying. if you happen to miss this opportunity then you can try again on the Jan Mayen island (the next and last time you use a bike). This trophy will unlock after you kill 5 enemies with the bike.

Using the "One Shot kills" cheat will make the Roadkiller trophies much easier and faster to get (credit to potatoman64 for this tip).

23.jpg Grenadier (B)

Kill two enemies with one grenade

Simple enough, just kill two enemies with one grenade, even the tiny enemies count such as the tiny spiders that latch onto you and bats. Harry got this during the part on Amanda's boat, you will eventually reach a hallway and there are a few mercenaries gathered together, throw a grenade in there and you will most likely kill two. Trophy will unlock if you successfully killed two enemies with a single grenade, don't worry too much about this trophy as you will get it over time without trying for it.

See Master Grenadier for more details.

24.jpg Master Grenadier(S)

Kill three enemies with one grenade

Firstly, you will want to know how to throw a grenade, you simply do this by pressing :r1: and it will stick to surfaces. The best spots for this are in Coast Thailand and Croft Manor, see this video for the Thai method:

Credit to GIJoesGrlfriend for this video.

For the Croft Manor method pretty much anywhere inside will do as there are spiders everywhere though the area in the main room where the Pressure Pad is located is a good one. Other areas with small spiders are in the underground area on the Mexico level. You don't have to use spiders to get the trophy but it's the easiest way.

25.jpg Weapons Expert (B)

Execute an Adrenaline Attack headshot on an enemy

You will get this during the story, as there is a tutorial on it. The earliest you can get this is at the end of the first level, you are on Amanda's ship. There is mercenaries here in which it is easy to adrenaline headshot them. if you do it successfully the trophy will unlock soon after doing it.

See Weapons Expert for more details on how to perform this.

26.jpg Weapons Master (S)

Execute ten Adrenaline Attack headshots

To execute a Adrenaline Attack you have to fill up your Adrenaline Gauge (The Yellow guage next to your Health), get your gun(s) out and attack an enemy once it's full. You want to go up to a biggish enemy then press :square: on it, you will kick jump off it and enter slow motion. Once you're in slow motion you have move the red crosshair into the white one using the :ls: and press :r1: once it's there. This attack is a one hit kill. Do this 10 times across the entire game to unlock the trophy.

Also, see this video for a visual explanation of the above:

27.jpg Mediterranean Sea Expedition (B) (H)

Complete the Mediterranean Sea Expedition

[spoiler=MSE]Dive off the boat and swim straight down and head for the large building that will appear in front of you. Swim through the opening and pick up the wheel like handle that's in front of you by pressing :triangle: and insert it into either the Left or Right disc that's on the wall. To get the missing handle turn around and leave the room, then swim forward until you reach a small building hidden by Seaweed, enter it and follow the path inside to the right until you see the Wheel lying on a table/plinth. Pick up the Wheel and return to the Disc puzzle in the main building and insert it into the other disc.

Puzzle solution:

Pull the Centre wheel once.

Pull the Left wheel once.

Pull the Right wheel twice.

After the mini cutscene, follow the tunnel until it opens out into a cave. Get out of the water and turn left, jump into the water and make your way left until you reach a scalable wall. After scaling the wall and making your way to the other side of the room, you will have another puzzle to solve.

Puzzle solution:

The objective here is to open the door.

Walk over to where the shiny ring is and press :square: to pull it and the head of the statue off the wall. Now pick up one of the small blocks with :triangle: and place it on the pressure pad to the left using :circle:, repeat with the other block. On the Platform in front of the door is a handle, pull it with :triangle:.

After the cutscene follow the path over and around various obstacles until you come a big hole in the ground, drop down and crouch walk through the small hole in the wall on your Left. On the other side you will have to climb out of the hole you're in then move forward until a cutscene kicks in showing the level boss and your next puzzle.

Boss fight/puzzle:

To kill this this thing you have to drop the spiked object that's hanging above him onto his head.

Head Right, make your way across the wall to your Left then down the slope and head right, follow the corridor until you come to a big room with some cogs in it. Use :square: to pull the ring off the wall thus bringing down the pillar and freeing the cogs. Climb up the wall behind you, slide jump on the Swing Bar then head Right and pull the Handle by pressing :triangle on it. After the mini cutscene head through the doorway in front of you and make your way the left hand side of the room and through the doorway there.

Use :square: on the ring to your Left to pull the cog it's attached to into place then use :triangle: to pull the lever. After the mini cutscene head back out to where the boss is and take the short path to your Left. Make your way to the ledge that overlooks the boss and pull the lever there to raise the spiked object and trigger a cutscene. Enter manual targeting mode by pressing :r3: and shooting the half broken chain links as shown in the previous cutscene with your Pistols.

After the cutscene, dive into the water, turn round and pull the handle that's behind you, to open the doors. Follow the corridor round to the Right then carefully move across the wall that's on your Right. After the section you will have the slowly walk across a Balance Beam by Steadying Lara with the :ls:, you may want to save here in case you mess up and die.

Activate your Flashlight with :left:, climb the pole in the top right hand corner and jump through the hole at the top. Now pick up a block and stand on the pressure plate in the middle of the room, doing this will open the door. Throw the block you're holding by pressing :r1: then repeat with the other block, you will have to wait for the door to re-open before you can throw it. Once both blocks are in the other room, quickly run through the door before it closes, now place both blocks on the Right or Left Pressure plate then stand on the other plate and use :square: to grapple the ring that's on the gate and pull to bring both down.

After the cutscene walk out of the chamber you're in, turn Right and go into the small chamber on your Right and climb up and through the opening that has appeared. Follow the Corridor round until you come to a room with climbable poles, use these to make your way up to the floor above. Once up there, crouch walk through the hole in the wall, turn right and follow the corridor until you end up back in the boss chamber. After the mini cutscene, swing across the gap in the floor and make your way up and over the debris, use the Swing Bar to swing over to the other side, slide down the sloping rock, turn round and walkthrough the doorway there. Now all you have to is retrace your steps to get back outside and return to your boat.

After the cutscene you will be next to Amanda's boat so climb the anchor and get on deck. To get on the top deck you will have to wall jump up some the containers then jump across a few. The boat is swarming with enemies so watch out and kill any that get in your way. The guys with Shotguns are the real threat so either grenade or melee them to give yourself some breathing room. Melee will only stun them but it will give you time to finish them off.

To get inside you have to go all the way to the rear of the ship, get to the lowest deck and enter through the big doorway there and into the Engine Room (see the picture below). After the cutscene you will have to make a rapid exit from the boat before it sinks, follow the corridor until you activate another cutscene. After this cutscene you will have to get a move on so follow the corridor and keep to the right, avoiding hazards as you go, until you reach a dead end. To escape you will have to climb upwards, you may wish to increase the brightness level as it's really dark and safe holds are hard to see. After getting to the top of that lot, you will have to it again at the end of the next corridor.

After the next cutscene, the level will end and the trophy will pop.

28.jpg Coastal Thailand Expedition (S)(H)

Complete the Coastal Thailand Expedition

[spoiler=CTE]You start the level in the small boat from the previous level, you will want to dive into the water and swim towards the centre rock pillar, you will notice on one side you can climb up on it. Face the rock and you will notice green vines, you can climb these. There's two paths, one leads to a treasure if you go around the right side, the left side continues on with the level. Go left and keep climbing until you reach the beam of of an old building piece, go as far left as you can then jump back and you will grab onto another piece of building. Go around this and then climb up onto the tiny ledge, now jump to the area directly ahead of you and continue up the stairs and kill the spiders. This part is pretty self explanatory so I'll leave the work for you to do. You will eventually be facing the sea again and you will notice a wall you can jump to, jump to the wall and climb up the tiny ledge. Now jump forward and climb your way up to the next area.

Now continue along the long and winding path and you will eventually reach something that looks like a temple, go to the left far end corner of this and wall jump to reach the ledge above, shimmy around this and you will reach the area above the temple. Then you will reach an open area with pillars in the middle, you have to climb down these to reach the area below, self explanatory. Once you are down in the bottom area, continue along the path. Eventually two tigers will be shown in a short cut scene climbing down the jungle terrain in front of you, kill them both then continue on towards the built up area. Once you reach this built up area another tiger will spawn, once you have killed it head towards the pillars ahead and climb the wooden beam, use a combination of balancing, climbing, shimmying and wall jumping to climb to the top of the pillars (bats will spawn up here), now head towards the stairs ahead and jump the gap to reach them. Roll under the tree and then drop down and grab the ledge, shimmy along then climb up under the fallen tree, two tigers will spawn here. Now you will see a huge door to a temple, go through this and navigate the Balance Beams and climbing, it's pretty much self explanatory.

The next section is very annoying, it basically involves sorting out the mechanism on either side to make the lift work, but as this is tomb raider you don't just walk over to each mechanism, you have to navigate over there. After the cutscene, go behind you and take the left, follow the hallway and drop down. Refer to these two videos as it's complicated to explain in writing (credit to MaholoVideoGames😞

Complete the Croft Manor Expedition

[spoiler=CME]After the cutscene, move forward, climb the pillar and jump off the top of it onto the ledge in front of you. Turn Left, enter the large room, get your pistols out and kill all the bats before they get the chance to attack you. Now you have some acrobatics to get up onto the Balcony on the right side of the room. Once you're up there, get your pistols out again and kill all the spiders then head downstairs and into the room on your Right, pick up the block and carry it out of the room, down the corridor, stand on the pressure plate and throw it into the next room, repeat for the other block that's behind you at the start of the corridor. Once both blocks are safely in the main room, pick them up one at at time and place them on the pressure plate that's in the middle of the platform you're standing on. This will activate a giant light in the room opposite so go back the way you came and enter it.

After you enter the new area, follow the corridor round, up the stairs and into your father's secret office. Once the cutscene is finished you will be attacked by 2 Thralls. The best way to kill these things is with an Adrenaline Headshot but if you mess that up, get their health to zero then smash their skulls in with :triangle:. With the Thralls dead, go to the other side of the room and move the big table top statue so it's between the broken cage and the nearby pillar. All you have do now is climb and jump from the various pillars and stone work until you reach the ledge on the other side of the room near the ceiling. From the ledge follow the corridor until you reach a switch, pull it open a secret door to your Left.

After the cutscene you will be in the exact spot where the Prologue level began, follow the walkthrough for that trophy to complete this section.

After this "Prologue" section, you will have to find a way into the Security Room. To gain entry, climb the pillar to the Right of what was the Fireplace and onto the Balcony above. From the Balcony, turn right and jump/swing on to the top of the Swing Pole then jump into the Security Room.

After the ensuring cutscene your trophy will pop.

Spoiler

GLITCH WARNING:

See for how to avoid a really nasty glitch: Tomb Raider Underworld Walkthrough and Game Guide - Southern Mexico: The Unnamed Days

You start the level off on your bike, so just continue along the jungle path and then go up the hill that lurches around to the left. Now you have reached a stone building, you will want to climb up this by going up the pillar at the start and then climbing as high as you can go up the building face. Then go left and drop down to the small hole in the buildings face, grapple onto the block in here and drop back out of the hole while holding onto it. Swing to the right and jump in the bigger hole in the buildings face and grab the head of the animal thing on the other side of the room. Wall jump up the side to reach the exit and jump to the wooden plank on the side of the pillar. When you get back to the ground two panthers will attack you, kill them and get back on the bike and continue along the winding maze path and go through the underground tunnel and go along the dirt path for a little longer. You will now reach the next stone building, so go towards that area and don't continue along the jungle path. There will be a dead mercenary on the floor and the entrance to the building has a half open door, crouch under this and go into the building. A cut scene will play and you want to put the head of the thing you found earlier in the middle of the puzzle.

1st Ring Puzzle

First, put the things head in the middle. Now spin counter clockwise until the black part on middle ring is next to the black part on the outer ring. Now grab the outer ring skull thing and move it so the black part of the ring is facing about 5 o'clock. This releases the rings so you can turn the very centre ring without moving the others. Once you have done that go back to the centre spinning thing and turn the very centre ring so it is line with 6 o'clock and facing the other black parts. Go back to the outside spinner thing and turn the outside ring back to 6 o'clock, all of the black parts should be all in line with each other now. A bit in the middle with open and you have finished the first puzzle.

Go back outside and kill the panthers that have appeared, get back onto your bike and continue along the jungle path. Jump over the first gap, now go around the left of the other hole in the ground as there is no ramp. You will then reach a part where you can either continue up the path or go to through the archway on the left, go left. At the end of this path you have to dismount your bike as it cannot go up here. You are now in a big area and mercenaries are fighting panthers, leave them kill each other. You will notice a gold coloured wooden pole on the floor, pick it up and bring it up the stairs and plug it into the lower hole on the pillars on the left hand side, climb up it and navigate up the pillars to reach the inside of the temple. Once inside, climb to the higher level and you with reach the area with the square on the floor, climb to the higher level and grapple on to the grapple in the distance, walk to the level while having the grapple still connected to pull the rock off the edge to make a hole in the floor. Navigate down the hole and grab the animal head on the floor which you will use later one. Exit the way you came and return to the jungle path where you left your bike. Continue along the jungle path to reach the building which leads to the 2nd ring puzzle, self explanatory how you get inside.

2nd Ring puzzle

Spin the centre wheel counter clockwise until the black part on middle ring is next to the black part on the outer ring. Now put the thing you found earlier on the outer spinner, then move it so the black part of the ring is facing about 5 o'clock. this releases the rings so you can turn the very centre ring without moving the others. Once you have done that go back to the centre spinning thing and turn the very centre ring so it is line with 6 o'clock and facing the other black parts. Go back to the outside spinner thing and turn the outside ring back to 6 o'clock, all of the black parts should be all in line with each other now. The whole area in the middle will open up.

This is the first speed demon trophy, race as quickly as you can into this area that opened in the middle by going back the way you game, once you reach the bit where you got the 2nd animal head go down the archway to your left and go through the doors in the floor. If you are too slow it will close and you have to fix the puzzles again. Navigate through the maze area with the bike until you have to ditch the bike.

We are going to list videos for the rest as it's complicated to explain:

31.jpg Jan Mayen Island Expedition (B)(H)

Complete the Jan Mayen Island Expedition

Spoiler

Drive through the tunnel in front of you then get off your bike and open the door by pressing :triangle: and pressing Right on the :ls:. After driving through the doorway cutscene will show then you have to drive down to the bottom, avoiding the Undead Vikings and holes as you go. At the bottom you will have to kill a few of the Undead Vikings and watch another cutscene before you can solve the first puzzle in this level.

Puzzle Solution:

The first thing you have to do is insert the 3 Stones that are lying nearby into the holes in the base of the pillar. After inserting the third stone there will be a cutscene, after which the hard work begins.

Walk round the base of the pillar until the :triangle: button appears, then you have to move the stone until the symbol on it matches the one on the floor. After you've got the symbols lined up, a cutscene will trigger. You have repeat this procedure three more times, once on each level of the pillar. To get to the other symbols you have to climb up to them, avoiding various hazards as you go. After the other 3 symbols have been lined up, the door to the Catacombs will unlock so make your way back down and open it with :triangle: and the :ls:.

After solving this puzzle, you will get another cutscene then you have to work your way through the Catacombs to the exit, see these videos for the route out and the walkthrough for the final section as it's really complicated:

32.jpg Andaman Sea Expedition (B)(H)

Complete the Andaman Sea Expedition

Spoiler

This is the shortest level in the game, bar the prologue. You will have Thor's hammer anyway so this level with be a breeze to work through with that. Firstly, you will want to clear out the enemies here first, there are about 5 mercenaries around the shipping crates. After they are dead go in the centre of the area with the shipping crates, now you will want to wall jump on the two tallest shipping crates to reach the top, now go towards the ships second floor and continue around the left hand side. Clear the enemies out here and go towards the helicopter in the distance, now when you are close to it you will see stairs leading down again, go down those and then go directly down the next set of stairs. Once down go forwards and the left, go through the automatic doors. The part in the ship is very linear and it's just a 'follow the path' situation. You will eventually reach an area in which a cutscene with initiate showing winged Natla from Tomb Raider: Anniversary and Amanda from Tomb Raider: Legend. Once the cutscene ends, the trophy will unlock.

33.jpg Arctic Sea Expedition (S)(H)

Complete the Arctic Sea Expedition

Spoiler

GLITCH WARNING:

Out of all the levels in the game, this one is the most freeze prone so make frequent saves and backups. Also take note of the following glitch info, courtesy of TranceManic:

Quote
Be sure to keep a save file once you first enter the room that contains the final relic. It is a room with a cutscene showing the wing lady opening up some of the doors and she flies off. Also, there are two waterfalls on the right hand side and you also activate one of the 4 glyphs at the entrance on the right side facing the exit.

The issue is if you die or reload the game, then the activated glyphs are reset. If you get to the other side of the room and had the glyphs reset, then you are pretty much screwed. I was not able to make it back to the start of the room. Thankfully I had at least 10 save files, including one from the start of this level.

You need all 4 glyphs activated to turn off the waterfall, because the last relic is behind the waterfall.

Puzzle Solution:

Jump into the hole in front of you and start swimming down and forwards until you see some giant stone statues in front of you. Swim round the back of the first statue to Left and into its head, once in there press :triangle: to activate a wheel switch and a mini-cutscene. Repeat this for the statue to its Left.

Now swim to base of the statue that's diagonally opposite you and insert the two cogs that are lying on the floor into the machinery. You do this by pressing :triangle: when the :triangle: button appears to pick one up and :triangle: again when the :triangle: button appears in the Machinery. After both cogs are in place, swim into the statue's head and pull the wheel switch, this will activate another mini-cutscene.

This next bit is complicated so see these videos for details:

Credit to 1araCr0ft for these videos.

After the Drawbridge drops, swim inside and keep following the corridor until you reach a staircase that leads out of the water. After leaving the water you will get a cutscene and be in a huge room with "touch it and you're dead" water so be very, very careful how you proceed and make your way to the other side of the room. There are also a lot of Undead Vikings and Giants in here as well so make sure you have Thor's Hammer equipped. Once on the other side, a cutscene will trigger. Please note that the controls and the camera are particularly bad in this section for some reason.

After the cutscene ends make your way through doorway and follow the corridor but watch out for the Undead Vikings and Giants, of which there are many. At the end of the corridor there will be a lengthy cutscene. Once this cutscene ends you will be in another corridor and immediately come under attack from the Undead, so get Thor's Hammer out and kick some butt! After the initial assault, follow the corridor round, slide jump of the ramp and keep moving. At the end of this corridor you will have to drop off the ledge you're standing on, then move forward until a cutscene is triggered.

This final section is really complicated so we will let this video do the talking:

At the end of this section you will get a lengthy cutscene, at the end of which you will get 2 trophies i.e the one for finishing this level and the one for finishing the game on Hard. You may also get your Platinum if you managed to get all the other trophies.

  • 3 weeks later...

I've never been good at keeping lots of manual saves, so when I got the Midgard Serpent bug of the ramps being down, my earliest save was only 20 minutes before, which wasn't good enough... sigh. But my 4 hr game save got replaced by a 1:12 one, so I guess it's not that bad once you know what you're doing and don't have to get the treasures.
