Introduction to Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations:

Welcome to Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations, the direct sequel to Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2, which progresses the story up to the beginning of the Shinobi World War Arc. It also brings back characters in their younger form from the Pre-Shippuden timeline as well as a couple main villains. It creates one of the largest Naruto rosters yet. The game features a couple new modes, one of which, is playing online utilizing the Ninja Info cards to becoming more than just a display picture for players online. There are also minor changes to certain in game mechanics such as the Substitution Jutsu.

Trophy-wise the game is pretty straightforward and really just a grind from start to finish. The only thing that may get into players heads will be the Ninja Info cards as it seems like the percentages just won't reach its needed numbers, however, with the methods within the guide, this shouldn't be a problem one should have to worry about.

Basic Controls/ Game Mechanics

Because the game lacks any sort of tutorial mode the game assumes you automatically know what to do and throws you right into the action, to make sure players are utilizing everything correctly, here is a list of what each button does:

:cross:

: Jump

:square:
: Shuriken / Projectile

:triangle:
: Chakra Load / Hold to Charge Chakra

:circle:
: Strike Attacks / Ninjutsu or Ultimate Jutsu after Chakra Loads

:r1:
or
:l1:
: Supprt Ninjustus

:r2:
: Guard

:r2:
+
:circle:
: Throw

:l2:
: Substitution Jutsu

Direction buttons: Ninja Items

Substitution Jutsu (:l2: while blocking or before an attack hits)

Substitution Jutsu was the biggest concern to regular players as it was easily abusable in the previous game. This time, there is a gauge connected to the Substitution Jutsu which limits a player to 4 uses during a certain period before it hits its refill time.

Chakra Load can follow up into various things. You could go for the raw damage from your Ninjutsu or you could use it in combination with your other normal commands to poke in fun at your opponent. Here are the various chakra variant moves.

Chakra Dash (:triangle: > :cross: )

Chakra Dash is a fast dash at your opponent which nearly reaches opponents half the screen away from you. Chakra Dash is a good way of closing the gap between you and your opponent and if it were to hit the opponent as you reach them, it will put them in a short stun state so that you can follow it up with your characters Strike Attacks, however, if your opponent were to be blocking upon impact of the dash it could leave you open for attack.

Chakra Shuriken / Projectile (:triangle: > :square: )

Just like the regular version, the variant with a chakra loadout will throw out your characters projectile of choice except it will be much faster, have tracking, and will cause a slight increase in stun if it were to hit. This is a good way of poking at your opponent if they try to stand back and charge their own chakra, however, be warned that the Chakra Dash will easily beat it out regardless.

Ninjutsu / Ultimate Jutsu (:triangle: (2x for Ultimate) > :circle: )

Ninjutsu's can be described as your special moves for each character, each of which have their own way of being ultilized. Ultimate Jutsu's are the same way, be wary of how many times you attempt your Ninjutsus though, if they are whiffed, you will still lose half the amount of chakra if they were to hit.

Awakening (Hold :triangle: when you reach minimal health )

Your health consist of two bars. On the second bar there will be a small arrow at the top of the HUD. Once you have reached past that arrow, you can hold :triangle: and go into your characters awakening. Think of this as a "comeback" mechanic for the game. Some characters are much more overpowered then the others.

Walkthrough

Opposite to traditional fighters, for this game you will be highly advised to follow the steps as instructed below to ensure you conveniently unlock all your trophies without wasting any time. During your quest for completion, most of your trophies will unlock through "natural" progression. For your trophy for Ryo accumulation, everything you do in the game will earn you Ryo so as long as you are aiming for 100% you will be bound to unlock it as well as other misc trophies as follows:

(B)

First S Rank!

(B)
First Shopping!

(S)
Wealthy Ninja

Story Mode Scenarios

During this step, you will be completing various story scenarios that play out and summarize the story pretty well from the Pre-Shippuden arcs to the current arcs going on in the series. Upon starting the game up for the first time you will have the following scenarios unlocked:

  • Tale of Naruto Uzumaki
  • Tale of Sasuke Uchiha.
  • Tale of Young Naruto.

Upon completing these three scenarios, it will chain and unlock the other hidden scenarios behind them. Completing these scenarios will also unlock every character and support in the game as you complete them all, making it a great start before you approach the real grind of the game which will require all the characters to be unlocked to ensure steady progression. Here are the following trophies you can unlock from story mode:

Additionally, after completing every Story Scenario you can visit the Shop in the main menu and select "Buy Image." It is there where you can buy image sets that are connected with each characters tale as well as unlock the the trophy connected to it right away, which is as follow:

(B)

Image Master

Free Battle / Tournaments & Survival

This step will be one large grind as you must go through various trials and matches that could easily take up 15+ hours of your time in the process. While Tournament are easy and manageable with the right mentals and use of your tools, Survival isn't as forgiving, however, thankfully we have a glitch we can exploit!

Handicap Glitch

This handicap glitch is very handy and will easily make your grind easier. What it does is reduce the damage you receive from you opponent (ultimately giving you more health) and increases the damage to the opponents health, so that you can kill them in about 2 Ultimate Justus.

Upon entering Free Battle, select "versus" and do a 1P vs COM battle (it can be Team or Single however remember which one you selected, team is recommended). At the character select screen, press :square: and edit the following options:

  • Timer: 99
  • Difficulty: Super Easy
  • Handicap Bar: Scroll it right for max handicap in your favor

Now play out the battle regularly and finish it quickly. After finishing the match with ease, you'll have options to rematch and go back to various menus. Select to the return to the Free Battle Mode Select menu and it will bring you to that menu where you can select Tournament or Survival. Now keep this note in mind, when you select either mode, it will ask you to do Team or Single. You must select the same you picked originally for the 1P vs COM battle in order for the glitch to work, if you pick otherwise, it will revert the damage back to regular damage.

http://i.imgur.com/Mx7cium.png

Team is recommended because later you will have to unlock Ninja Info cards which may become an obstacle to some players path for completion, however with teams, you can fasten the progress by earning various titles and Ninja Info Cards for using characters as your support 5 times each. Keep track of this and use a variety of characters when you can.

Tournament Mode

Tournaments range from 4-8 players per tournament depending on the ranking. You start off at beginner level tournaments with pre shippuden characters leading up to beginner tournaments with more updated characters. The tournaments are divided by rank, all of which have three tournaments connected to each of them. With the Handicap Glitch listed above, these tournaments should be quickly finished with ease. Here are the tournament trophies you can earn from this mode:

(B)

Team Seven Tournament Champ!

(B)
Sand Genin Tournament Champ!

(B)
Leaf Genin Tournament Champ!

(B)
Boy's Life Tournament Champ!

(B)
New Team Seven Tournament Champ!

(B)
Leaf Chunin Tournament Champ!

(B)
Ultimate Ninja Tournament Champ!

(B)
Leaf Higher-Up Tournament Champ!

(B)
Shippuden Tournament Champ!

(B)
Peerless Ninja Tournament Champ!

(B)
Akatsuki Tournament Champ!

(B)
Five Kage Tournament Champ!

(S)
Tournament Champ!

Survival Mode

Survival will probably be the biggest grind in your path towards completion as you must complete 10 survivals within 4 different ranks for a grand total of 40 survivals, plus the added Ultimate Survival you must take part in for a separate trophy. To unlock the tournaments, you have to go through nearly 8-10+ matches per survival in the later levels of survival matches. With 40 survival matches you must go through, this will be quite the grind. With the Handicap Glitch making it much easier to manage, it still is quite a bore to finish it all. After all is said and done, you should have the following survival related trophies:

(B)

Introductory Stage Survivor!

(B)
Beginner Survivor!

(B)
Intermediate Survivor!

(B)
Advanced Survivor!

(S)
Master Survivor!

(S)
10 Down

Free Battle / Grind for Ninja Info Cards & Titles

For this step, you will be going through various means of unlocking your Ninja Info Cards and Titles as well as buying everything you need from the shop for your respective trophies and performing everyones Ultimate Jutsu which will also correlate to the trophy for using every character. During this step you should have the following trophies unlocked:

(B)

Substitution Jutsu Master

(B)
Ninja Info Card Collector

(B)
Ninja Tool Master

(B)
Ultimate Jutsu Movie Master

(G)
Card Collection Master

(G)
Alias Master

(G)
Ninja Lover!

Final Steps Before You're Done

In case one has forgotten, you can also earn a trophy through editing your Ninja Tool's. If you haven't done so yet, you can earn this now through your "Collection" in the main menu. You will more than likely have everything completed before the 30 hour mark. Once you each that point, you can simply leave the game on and it will count towards your time, while you are idle. After you have completed this you should be done with the game for the following final trophies:

(B)

First Ninja Tool Edit!

(B)
Game Master!

(P)
I'm the greatest ninja!

Conclusion to Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations:

As a whole, the game delivers a dream roster of characters that any Naruto fan can enjoy. While the story mode is lacking in any free roam gameplay, that just means easier trophy acquisition for us. The game can be a bit of a grind but the game is fun enough to enjoy most of that time.

Additional Tip for Those Having Trouble with Later Fights.

For each of the story mode scenarios, your opponent will get added attack bonuses as you progress closer to the last fight, leading up to an opponent with a 80+ Attack Bonus. Players may feel overwhelmed by this so here are some tips to help you fight it.

Substitution Jutsu Management

Having bars for Substitution Jutsu are important. Do not waste it on the little things such as shuriken throws or raw Ninjutsu attacks, instead, save the bars for when the enemy hits you with strike attacks which do much more damage.

If you run out of meter for this, back away and stay on the defensive, especially if you opponent is filled with meter for his Substitution Jutsu. If your opponent decides to go on the offensive, throw out chakra shurikens and use your supports to make the opponent back off. If you're feeling brave you can also unleash your Ninjutsu/Ultimate Jutsu when you see your opponent attacking or going in with a chakra dash to keep him at ease.

Substitution Jutsu collected: 80%

For this trophy you must have 80% of the Substitution Jutsu's avaiable. You obtain some Substitution Jutsu through using various special team combinations, however the majority of them will be unlocked from completing your various Story Scenarios, Tournaments and Survivals. If you are aiming for 100% Completion this should be within grasp upon finishing everything from the three modes mentioned earlier.

Images collected: 80%

Ultimate Jutsu scenes collected: 80%

Considering you will have to use every character anyway in Free Battle for Ninja Lover! it would be wise to use all of their Ultimate Jutsu's as well while you do it for this trophy.

Special Note: Even if you know you have the video to an Ultimate Jutsu, use it anyway as if you didn't use one it could unlock a Ninja Info Card towards Card Collection Master which will be have great help later along the lines.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1121/4E5.jpgFirst S Rank! (B)

You've earned your first S Rank in a battle.

To earn S Rank in a battle, it will depend on the following factors during your Battle Results after each battle:

  • Health
  • Time
  • Bonus

These result will determine the Rank you receive for the battle. Honestly though, this will probable be one of the first trophies unlocked whether you try to get it or not. If you are having trouble with it however you can always load up a match in Free Battle under easier settings such as:

  • Timer: Anything
  • Difficulty: Super Easy
  • Handicap: 90/10 (in your favor)

Through these settings, you can kill off your opponent with just two Ultimate Jutsus and with them being on the easiest difficulty it should prove no where near difficult.

You've defeated 10 opponents in Ultimate Survival.

For more information in regards to Survival Mode as a whole please refer to Master Survivor! for more information. Ultimate Survival will be unlocked after completing Advanced Survival. Ultimate Survival is an endless swarm of opponents until you can fight no more, luckily with the Handicap Glitch, this is but a chore added among the pile. 4. Ino

5. Sasuke

6. Shikamaru

While you may just be going for this particular trophy, don't stop just at 10, continue on up until 30 opponents completed to unlock a couple titles and Ninja Info cards that are rewards to you along the way. These will help greatly as those are the two trophies that have players at a worry near the end. The reason to stop at 30 is because after that, the game doesn't give you anymore additional rewards so it would be best to not waste your time. http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1121/833.jpgCard Collection Master (G)

Ninja Info Card images collected: 80%

This will be the make it or break trophy on ones path to completion. For this trophy you must obtain 80% of the Ninja Info Cards. Playing through Story Mode, Survival Mode and Tournament you will still find yourself rather short of what you need for this trophy, so here are some alternative ways to increase your percentage.

Unlocking Support Types

To unlock a characters support type you must use them as your leader or support (or combination of the two) at least 5 times. While unlocking their supports, they will unlock a title and/or a ninja info card along the way. A good way of keeping track of which Ninja Info Cards you unlocked is to select a random character and then select every other character on the list to see who has all their support types unlocked.

Special Teams

Another way to obtaining titles/ninja info cards is by using special teams. Special teams are the combination of certain characters creating a special team. One good example would be Young Naruto and Young Sasuke whom create Best Friends. Players who are familiar with the Naruto series should easily be able to connect characters together, other players may just want to start from the top and start going down the list of combinations. For a full list of Special Teams please refer to HiryuMK's All Team Combination Thread.

Also, keep in mind to use special teams Team Ultimate Jutsu which sometimes may factor into unlocking a new card. If you don't know how to use the Team Ultimate Jutsu, all you have to do is use your support characters (:r1: and :l1:) and have their attacks hit enough times for the support gauge next to the character portrait in the HUD to fill up. Once it has filled up to the first bar you can use Strike Attacks (:circle:) and any attack supports in your group will attack with you to fill it up even more. Once your HUD is on fire (literally) and you have a full chakra gauge you can load chakra 3 times to go into an orange aura which will unleash the Team Ultimate Jutsu.

Keep in mind that not all teams will give you a title or a ninja card so you'll have to go through a bit of trial and error to obtain them.

Online Wins

The game can be completed without having to play online, however if worse comes to worse, you can always resort to boosting wins off a friend and earn Ninja Info Cards/Titles in that fashion as well. If you need to find a boosting partner please refer to the Trophy Boosting Thread.

Additionally, also use a characters awakening as it may factor into some cards getting unlocked, however be wary that not all of them will actually unlock something.

Important Note: Ninja Info Cards received from inputting various codes will not add to the percentage.

(B)

Introductory Stage Survivor!

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1121/D02.jpgTournament Champ! (S)

You've completed all Challenge Tournaments.

Challenge Tournaments are a series of tournaments which put you into 4-8 character brackets in which you must complete as the winner of the tournament. The Challenge Tournaments are split up in 4 ranks of which hold 3 tournaments within them, the 4 ranks are:

  • Genin Rank
  • Chunin Rank
  • Jonin Rank
  • Kage Rank

Unlike Survival, you regain all your health from the previous battles you went through in the tournament, however just like survival you can utilize the handicap glitch mentioned in the roadmap to make this much easier.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1121/6DC.jpgGame Master! (B)

You've played for a total of over 30 hours.

For this trophy you must reach a total play time of 30 hours within your overall career of Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations. Your time will increase even if you are just idle on the main menu, more than likely you will finish everything before reaching this point. Keep in mind that when you do reach the 30 hour mark from being idle the trophy won't pop right away.

To unlock the trophy after reaching the 30 hour mark you must play one battle, so you can quickly load up Free Battle and alter the Game Settings with :sqaure: for a quick and easy battle and after the battle finishes your trophy will pop up.

http://i.imgur.com/XfFqfRq.png

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1121/A6C.jpgNinja Lover! (G)

You've used all leader characters.

For this trophy you must use all of the characters in the game as the leader of the team (so you can't just use them as the support character) and it must be done within Free Battle. Anything in Story Mode does not count towards this trophy. While you are running through this, you can knock out Ultimate Jutsus for Ultimate Jutsu Movie Master as well as unlock support types for your characters to help you earn Ninja Info Cards and Titles for there respective trophies. If for some reason your trophy is not unlocking you may have to use the alternate costumes of certain characters such as:

  • Sasuke (Hebi)
  • Shikamaru
  • Minato
  • Young Sasuke

Basically, any character whom you have the option to press :r1: to switch to there alternate costume or ultimate jutsu.

Keep in mind that if you have a second controller you can do 1P vs 2P and everything 2P uses will count towards your progress (supports as well) which will greatly reduce time you need to speed working on this trophy.

For a detailed explanation on how to efficiently make use of your time doing this trophy please refer to atarasiirei's thread: The most efficient way to get "Ninja Lover!"

Another stellar guide by Setsuna. :)

Seeing as Shippuden is one of my favourite anime along with Haruhi and Dragon Ball/Z, I know I'll be getting this, but probably in a few months time as I only got (P) in Storm 2 in January.

My signature might give away who I'll be trying out most...

I'm kind of sadden that Chouji doesn't have an awakened involving his butterfly wings :/ (for the Young or Shippuden version)

Another great Guide as usual, Setsuna! :applause:

But I thought you wouldn't had time to make a guide for this game because of Street Fighter X Tekken? Or was it because this is so easy to Platinum, you had time?

Alittle of both, I didn't expect to have it out this early but the game really is pretty straight forward ... I think its funny though SFxT isn't 100% complete yet while this one is lol I still need to work on the Mission Mode Guide which I'm holding off on until after next week :p

Great guide, I'll be getting the game soon sometime as I'm a Naruto fan :francis:

blazenarutoshippuden is a Naruto Fan ?!?! I would have never guessed it :p

Hopefully, in UNS3, everyone get a proper update, especially Orochimaru who need his 8 Headed Serpent form as a Awakening, Konan with her new Jutsu, Tsunade new jutsu, Kabutochimaru having a more interesting moveset... after all he going to fight this week in the Manga!

I can't wait for the Mission Guide, I have been raging over Mission 17, 19 & 20. No matter what I try, nothing work. I tried everyone's advices in this forum and other places.

I was worried I would have to wait until Capcom release the very goods Gems and I need to buy them to make them easier because when I lose too often in Mission 19, Dan mention buying more gems from the Store or that there must be way to get the same Gems as Ogre & Akuma.

Anyway, at least I have this game to switch when I get too annoyed by those 3 missions.

By the way, if its wasn't for your sig, I wouldn't had known about RED_REBEL44 and now got a new awesome sig. So thanks, even if you technically did nothing. :p

Once again...Setsuna to the rescue. I knew you would be doing this guide, as you've done the past ones. Your guides are so damn thorough. Thanks a lot for your hard work and research.

@HiryuMK Man I just beat 17 and 19. 20 is a motherf'er! LOL Funny thing is...it's really not hard in terms of AI difficulty compared to 17 and 19, but to beat all the characters on that survival setting is a pain. We'll get it! :D

Great guide as always Setsuna.

Uhm just to make sure, using different characters while doing Survival Battles and Tournament Battles count towards the Ninja Lover! trophy yes?

Anyways game was pretty straightforward and not to difficult, unlike most fighting games, but its just a grind.

Thanks for the guide though.

Btw who was your favorite character here? :p

I went through about more or less around the same amount and got a a good amount of cards (maybe around 10), not every single team gives you anything ... its like trial and error with the teams.

I'm pretty sure they count so long as you used them in Free Battle, after I got all of the supports and starting going down and up the list of 2 controllers it unlocked for me before I got to use a third of the young version cast and before I hit Kakashi (Youth) whom I used alot in one of the Survivals.

My favorite character in here ? I used to like using Minato in a combination of certain assist for unblockable setups but I believe something changed with my combination so I'm current playing around with characters. I still love using Minato because hes fast, throw range is pretty good and just because he was a favorite character of mine ever since I knew more of his character.

In truth that saddens me too, I don't see why they don't put it in. Was definitely one of my favourite parts of the Sasuke Retrieval Arc along with Drunk Rock Lee VS Kimimaro.

In the inevitable UNS3 I hope they decide to list to the fans request.

Hi there, great guide! simple and easy to read

But i have a question though when u say "fasten the progress by earning various titles and Ninja Info Cards for using characters as your support 5 times each, keep track of this and use a variety of characters when you can."

5 times as in do u have to use them for 5 different survival modes?

or if the survival mode has 2 rounds does that count as 2 or one?

or does it mean call them in 5 times during battle?

and do u need to call them in for each type? (atk/def/balance)

and if all 3 types are unlocked does that mean i have gotten all the cards i could get?

Sorry if this is asking abit too much detail :D

Just use a character as your support 5 times, you don't even have to call them out. Having them in battle 5 times will unlock all there support types and along the way to getting those support types most will unlock a title and ninja info card.
