Introduction:

3D Ultra MiniGolf Adventures allows you to play as four different customizable characters while you make your way across three different 18 hole courses. The game also gives you the ability to design your own custom holes with the Map Editor feature. Each hole has several "power-ups" scattered around that do everything from allow you to make the ball jump into the air, to dropping a path of glue behind your ball to mess with the opposition. Overall, the game is decent if you like golf games, but not as well done as others in the genre in my opinion. This is mostly due to the design of the swing meter. It makes it very difficult to reproduce shots, which is what scoring in a mini-golf game is all about. The low end of the meter is also somewhat touchy on short putts, making this game a little challenging due to it's control issues. It can be pretty fun exploring the holes for shortcuts and watching the ball go through one when you do find it though, so the game does have some bright spots.

Walkthrough:

There's not really a campaign in the traditional sense for this game. You will, however, need to win on each of the three courses at least once. When you complete a full round on the first course, the second will unlock and when you complete the second course, the third will unlock.

Step 1: Single Player Trophies

The first step will be to win a tournament on each of the three default courses. The computer opponents usually stay somewhere between even and 5 under throughout the match, so you will need to be under par to win most of the time. Winning a match on each course will net you Haunted Manor Champion, Manic Museum Champion, and Winter Wonderland Champion. You will also unlock Rookie during the course of normal play. You may unlock Hot Streak without trying during this step, but if not, don't worry as it should come naturally later on when you go for 10 hole-in-one's in a single round.

There a couple of things you should keep in mind during this step:

  1. Try to win each tournament with a score of 5 under par or better. This will unlock Grand Slam Champion.
  2. Use a different character for each tournament and fully customize that character before starting. You will then have 3 of the 4 wins needed for Fashionista after this step.

Step 2: Create a hole in the map editor

This is a short step and will only get you one trophy, Budding Designer. However, the custom hole you create here will be useful for the online trophies in the next step.

Step 3: Online trophies

During this step you will be unlocking all trophies that require online play. I was unable to find anyone playing this game online, so you'll probably need to use the boosting thread to find a partner.

Trophy Boosting Thread (Read First Post!) - PlaystationTrophies.org

I'd recommend alternating with your boosting partner on each of the following steps:

  1. Host a private match and set it up for one of the three default courses. Also make sure to use the one character you have remaining for Fashionista. Win the tournament and it will net you Online Champion.
  2. Again, host a private match, but this time make a custom course that just has 1 hole. Use the custom hole you created in step 2 of this roadmap. Friendly Neighbor will unlock while the game is loading. You don't need to finish the hole if you don't want to.
  3. Now repeat step 2. You will get Online Journeyman since this was the third game you hosted. Again, you don't need to finish the hole if you don't want to.

Thanks to leantr00 for helping me test this method.

Step 4: Become an Ace and cleanup (if necessary)

At this point, you should still have Ace left (along with any trophies you missed in part 1). There is a hole-in-one guide below to help you on your quest for 10 hole-in-ones in a single tournament. If you have any other trophies remaining, get them now and then enjoy your new 100%.

Gameplay Notes:

  • Many of the trophies for this game mention that they must be done "in tournament". What this really means is that you must complete those trophies while playing 18 holes on one of the three default courses. Completing the requirements on an 18 hole custom course will not unlock trophies.
  • A trick you can use for the single player tournaments is "restarting" the current hole. You can do this by selecting Exit Tournament from the pause menu at any time during a hole. Then just go to Single Player > Tournament > Load Tournament and select the first game in the list. This will put you back on the same hole as before, and back on your first shot. Note that this will not work for Ace and Hot Streak. Thanks to comegetakuma for discovering this technique.
  • In Practice mode, there will be a sparkling area somewhere on almost every hole. This is usually a shortcut that will result in the ball going straight into the hole if you hit it correctly. The sparkles are only visible in practice mode, so try to note where they are before you play a course in tournament.
  • As previously mentioned, the swing meter makes this game more difficult than it should be. The only "markers" I could find on it are the letters in your name and the end of the green line below the meter. Just try to figure out a way that works for you which will allow you to identify the same markers on the meter over and over again. That way, when you're practicing a hole, you can note the correct distance on the meter and reproduce the shot by hitting the same distance mark every time.

Trophy Guide:

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/452/01.jpg Budding Designer (B)

Create a hole with the map editor.

Go to the Map Editor and then select the Pieces tab to start creating a hole. At a minimum, the hole must have a tee piece and a green piece. Once you're finished, press :square: as you will need to test the hole. Simply complete the hole to validate it and then save the hole to unlock this trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/452/02.jpg Friendly Neighbor (B)

Host a match with a custom hole.

For this one, create an online multiplayer game and set up a match with only one custom hole. This must be done online, the trophy will not unlock in offline 2-player mode.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/452/03.jpg Haunted Manor Champion (B)

Win the Haunted Manor Tournament.

As the description states you must win an 18 hole match on the Haunted Manor course. Note that this can be done with two controllers in offline 2-player mode if you're having trouble beating the computer. Just make sure your main account wins and the trophy will unlock. This can also be unlocked in online matches.

The hole-in-one guide covers this course if you need help with the single player tournament.

Hole-in-One Guide

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/452/05.jpg Manic Museum Champion (B)

Win the Manic Museum Champion.

As the description states you must win an 18 hole match on the Manic Museum course. Note that this can be done with two controllers in offline 2-player mode if you're having trouble beating the computer. Just make sure your main account wins and the trophy will unlock. This can also be unlocked in online matches.

Here are some videos of the course in case you're having trouble on any specific holes. They're not all hole-in-one shots, but they should be more than enough to help you score -5 for the round.

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qZxYgaJbgBc]Manic Museum - Back 9[/ame]

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/452/04.jpg Winter Wonderland Champion (B)

Win the Winter Wonderland Tournament.

As the description states you must win an 18 hole match on the Winter Wonderland course. Note that this can be done with two controllers in offline 2-player mode if you're having trouble beating the computer. Just make sure your main account wins and the trophy will unlock. This can also be unlocked in online matches.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/452/06.jpg Online Champion (S)

Win an online Tournament.

For this trophy, you will need to win a complete 18 hole match on one of the three default courses while playing against another person online.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/452/07.jpg Online Journeyman (B)

Host 3 online games.

These do not need to be tournaments, but they will need to be done with another person online. If you make a custom game with one hole and simply start the game, that counts as 1. You don't have to finish the hole for it to count, as long as you're hosting, you will get credit for a game. Just do this three times to unlock the trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/452/08.jpg Ace (S)

Make 10 holes in 1 in 1 tournament.

This is probably the hardest trophy in the game, but keep practicing and you'll eventually become an Ace on at least one course. This can be done on any of the three default courses. It will not unlock if you make an 18 hole custom course.

Note: If you select Exit Tournament at any time and then load the same tournament from the menu, it appears to reset your hole-in-one count. So you will need to get 10 hole-in-ones after loading the tournament before the trophy will unlock. It's best to just not use Exit Tournament while going for this trophy.

I chose to do this on Haunted Manor as it has the most holes with easy shortcuts. If you're struggling with any of the holes on that course, a complete guide can be found here:

Hole-in-One Guide

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/452/09.jpg Hot Streak (S)

Make 5 birdies or better in a row.

This needs to be completed in a tournament even though the description does not state that. It will not unlock if you simply make a 5 hole custom course. This will most likely come naturally while you are trying to unlock Ace.

Note: If you select Exit Tournament, it will reset your streak.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/452/10.jpg Rookie (B)

Complete Haunted Canvas, Termite Mound, and Snow Blower in tournament.

This will unlock naturally as you play. Haunted Canvas, Termite Mound, and Snow Blower are holes on each of the three default courses. You do not need to win the tournament, simply complete each hole in a tournament to unlock this trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/452/11.jpg Fashionista (S)

Win a tournament with each character fully customized.

You must win a total of 4 tournaments for this trophy. I just went through and changed a part of the outfit for each category on the customization screen (Hair and Headwear, Tops, Bottoms, Footwear, Accessories, and Ball Designs). I don't know if it matters, but try to make sure none of the items are part of the character's default outfit. These outfits are pictured on the game's title screen if you don't remember what they were. Note that wins in offline 2-player mode and online matches also count towards this trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/452/12.jpg Grand Slam Champion (G)

Complete every tournament 5 under par or better.

As the description states, for this trophy you will need to complete a tournament on each of the three courses and finish at -5 or better. I don't think you need to win, but at 5 under par or better, I always beat the computer anyway.

Haunted Mansion Hole-in-1 Guide

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yFLOK2fuXFg]1 - 3[/ame]

  1. This is the easiest hole on the course. Just watch the video.
  2. Aim at the left edge of the tree. Distance is key here. If you hit it correctly, the ball will deflect into the stump shortcut.
  3. Move all the way right, then nudge back to the left a very small amount. Aim at the right side of the pipe in the water.

    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CdMZnFNKPD0]4 - 6[/ame]
  4. I never could figure out how to use the sparkles shortcut on this one. The method I use in the video seems to work about half the time, but don't count on this hole for your 10, just look at it like a bonus if you do get it while going for Ace.
  5. Move right until your ball is in front of the smaller cave, then just aim straight at it.
  6. You have to get a bit lucky with timing here. The skeleton hands will grab your ball if they touch it. Be ready for the jump over the gap once you roll past the arms.

    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UBgUz-eyvbc]7 - 9[/ame]
  7. Move left a bit until you're in front of the hole on the bridge. There is a small backstop, but you still need to hit the distance correctly or the ball will bounce over it.
  8. Aim at the center of the floating green arrow. After the bridge animation, the ball will land on a jump power-up. Hit it immediately and you will jump onto the green. Be ready to use the brake power up at the right moment.
  9. This one if very difficult. If you can hit the distance perfectly you will drop through a brake power up which you must then immediately activate. In the video I got lucky and somehow the ball goes in without the brake power up, but that basically never happens. The video still shows the general idea of what you need to do though.

    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eLUHjAWthgM]10 - 12[/ame]
  10. This one is pretty easy. Don't adjust the aim at all when the hole loads. Just hit the distance in the video and it should drop into the shortcut on the stairs.
  11. Move left a bit to the location shown in the video. Then move the aim a tiny bit left. I tried to aim at the right side of the lower left rectangle on the door.
  12. Distance is very important on this one. If you hit it too hard it will fall off the bridge. Also be sure to wait until the spider moves out of the way. Be ready with the break power up near the end.

    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dNPN41NKS9A]13 - 15[/ame]
  13. Move right so your ball is on the seam in the grass. Aim between the distant power up and the wooden beam in the wall.
  14. Start your swing while the steam is blowing, then as you hit it, the ball should pass through while it's off and the path won't be disrupted. Then just jump in the tigers mouth.
  15. Not much to add to the video on this one. If you can time the jumps right, this hole is pretty easy.

    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O17qcbKkQ8s]16 - 18[/ame]
  16. You'll have to adjust where you jump based on how hard you hit it. If you match the distance in the video, jump at the middle of the column the ball rolls in front of.
  17. Move all the way left and aim at the front right corner of the wooden column. If you hit the distance correctly it will go straight into the shortcut.
  18. I couldn't figure out how to get this this one consistently. The video shows the general place to hit the ball, but you need a lucky roll for it to fall in. There's lots of other holes you can use while going for Ace though.

Thanks :)

Most of the trophies are pretty easy other than the 10 hole-in-one shots in a single tournament. That takes a little practice and a tiny bit of luck, but wasn't too bad. Took maybe 5 tries. The hardest part might be finding a boosting partner as this forum seems pretty dead.

Hopefully they'll put it on sale at some point and then more people will start playing.

Great guide man, its really helping me a lot. Still messing up a bunch of shots though. You should put in the guide if your going for ace and you mess up your shot, just exit out, and continue tournament from the menu. It saves data from the previous hole, so if you get 5 holes in one in a row and the sixth one you mess up, just exit and go back in, you can keep trying until you have a perfect game.

edit- does hotstreak and ace pop in game, or after the tournament. I'm up to 6 holes in one in a row with this method and no hotstreak trophy.

edit 2- this method won't give you the hotstreak or ace trophy, but will make winning under 5 par easier. It awards the tournament win trophy.

Really? I was actually in the process of updating the guide and crediting you with the great tip. :) I tried it out on a second xmb profile just now and got hot streak to unlock. It should unlock right after you finish the last hole of the requirement. So the 5th hole with a birdie or the 10th hole you get a hole in 1 on, not at the end of the tournament. Let me know what happens. I'll try it out for Ace and see if that unlocks.

huh thats strange I just finished the tourny at -27 par, had 13 holes in one the first 12 were in a row, but with multiple attempts using the save trick, and I didn't get either. when I finished I got the win haunted tournament trophy only. might get the gold easily if you play all three tournaments this way. kinda bummed I didn't get the other two though.

I did some more investigation, and now I'm a little confused lol. I have a theory though so maybe you can try it out while you're going for the trophies.

I did the same as you and got over 10 holes in one and Ace didn't unlock. So I made a new profile and tried hot streak again.

I played a total of 6 holes and got under par on all holes. Hot Streak didn't pop after five holes. But, I had reloaded the tournament on hole 2 so I played hole 6 and got under par and the trophy unlocked after I finished the hole.

My theory is that when you reload the tournament it resets your streak and your hole-in-one count. This would make sense because I only reloaded the tournament on hole 1 the first time I tried it when Hot Streak unlocked on hole 5.

Edit: I added a tip to the roadmap about this technique. It's still useful for winning the single player tournaments, and much easier than my tip of using two controllers. Thanks for the info comegetakuma. :thumbsup:
