Introduction

Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack is a level-based 2D platforming game. You are a blob that has escaped from a science lab and is looking for vengeance! This game is similar to Katamari - you roll around levels and consume objects in order to become larger. There will be enough objects in each section for you to get large enough to move on to the next section in the level. There are also score bubbles for you to consume that will add to your level score, but not increase your size. You will be faced with lasers, spinning blades, gears, and military!

The trophy list consists of 3 types of trophies: level-related, collectible Blob friends, and gold medals. Essentially, you need to complete all levels while finding all the Blob Friends and scoring a gold medal to earn the 100%. None of these trophies are missable as you can select any previously completed level. The score needed for the gold medal varies from level to level, but I have listed all the scores I had when the gold medal is earned. You can refer to Golden Blob (G) for the list of scores. There are 2 blobs per normal world and 1 blob in the Tilt-a-Blob levels. There is a supplement guide for you to follow so you don't miss any, linked under Blob Friends Forever (S).

Walkthrough

0. Check the Leaderboard

This can be done at anytime, but it’s best to get it out of the way as it requires online connectivity. Make sure you are connected to PSN and open up the Leaderboards in the game's main menu. This will unlock: Jealous? (B)

1. Get Blobs and Medals

Start the game and follow the Blob Friends Forever Supplemental Guide.

You should not be looking to rush through these levels. In order to earn a Gold Ribbon, you need to consume almost everything possible in the level. When you see a vacuum at any point, be sure you’ve checked all of the area before going into it.

If you end up not earning a Gold Ribbon or missing a Blob Friend on any level, keep playing and you can revisit the level later on in Step 2.

In this step you should earn:

Amuse Bouche (B)

Graduation Dinner (B)

Houston, we have a problem (B)

It Came From Outer Space (B)

Getting the Boot (B)

Delicious Magnetic Balls! (B)

Finally, monsieur, a wafer thin mint (B)

Master Tilter (B)

Galaxicide (B)(H)

2. Clean up

This is the clean-up step. If you miss any Gold Ribbons or Blob Friends, use Level Select to try again.

See Golden Blob (G) for tips on troublesome spots.

If you have not already earned them in Step 1, you will earn:

Not too shabby (B)

Extinction (B)

Blob Friends Forever (S)

Golden Blob (G)

01.jpg Amuse Bouche (B)

Eat the final cork in Level 1

Story related, cannot be missed. You will earn this trophy as you finish up Level 1. There is a cork in your path. By the end of the level, you will be large enough to consume it.

02.jpg Graduation Dinner (B)

Eat the valedictorian at the end of Chapter 1

Story related, cannot be missed. You will earn this trophy as you finish up Level 4. You will see a room full of people in graduation caps and robes. Roll over all of them and this trophy is yours.

03.jpg Houston, we have a problem (B)

Board the rocket ship at the end of Chapter 2

Story related, cannot be missed. As you come to the end of Level 7, there will be a ramp leading to a rocket ship. Enter the rocket ship to complete the level and pop this trophy.

04.jpg It Came From Outer Space (B)

Take a ride on the space elevator at the end of Chapter 3

Story related, cannot be missed. At the end of Level 12, there is an elevator for you to board.

05.jpg Getting the Boot (B)

Boot yourself over the spikes at the end of Chapter 4

Story related, cannot be missed. Toward the end of Level 16, there will be a large boot-looking structure. As you finish the level, you will need to use this structure to launch yourself over a large spiked area.

06.jpg Delicious Magnetic Balls! (B)

Eat the magnetic balls at the end of Chapter 5

At the end of Level 20, there will be four magnetic balls. Consume these to earn the trophy. It is possible to not eat these and make it through the end of the level. So don't forget to consume these!

08.jpg Not too shabby (B)

Earn a silver medallion or better in five levels

Refer to Golden Blob (G)

09.jpg Jealous? (B)

Look up the top score on any leaderboard

This is the only online trophy in the game. Whenever you have a connection with PSN, click on Leaderboards in the main menu to pop this trophy. You can earn this trophy at any time, even before playing any levels.

10.jpg Finally, monsieur, a wafer thin mint (B)

Absorb 1500 objects

This is a cumulative trophy. This is not story related, but you should not miss this trophy if you are collecting all objects with the intention of earning the Gold Ribbons.

11.jpg Extinction (B)

Eat all of the escape pods in the final level

This trophy may require several attempts. On the final level, Level 24, you will consume large rocks and eventually escape to space. Here, you are large enough to consume the planet. As soon as you are in space, you want to move in a clockwise motion around the planet. You will see several escape pods launch from the planet. Your goal is to consume all of these pods before they escape the screen. Watch this video to help understand the path you need to take:

The trophy will pop when you consume the final escape pod. If you miss any of the escaping pods and don’t see the trophy, hit :select: to restart from the checkpoint.

12.jpg Master Tilter (B)

Complete all of the Tilt-A-Blob levels

Each chapter has a “Bonus” level for you to complete. They are in the form of the classic Labyrinth marble game. You will use the motion control on your controller/Vita to guide the blob around a course filled with holes you can fall through. Similarly to the normal levels, these also have checkpoints so you don’t have to worry too much about being careful. Do note that these Tilt-A-Blob levels have a Blob Friend for you to collect. However, you do not need to collect the Blob Friends to earn this trophy.

13.jpg Blob Friends Forever (S)

Collect all Blob Friends in the game

See the Blob Friends Forever Supplemental Guide for the location of all the Blob Friends.

There are two hidden blobs in each normal level, and one hidden blob in the Tilt-a-Blob levels. You will need to utilize every move in your disposal to get these blobs. The location of some are obvious, while others are hidden off in corners you may not think to look. Collecting the hidden blobs will earn points for the level as well, so it is good to collect them to make getting the gold medal easier.

14.jpg Golden Blob (G)

Earn a gold medallion in every level

You should not be looking to rush through these levels. In order to earn a Gold Ribbon, you need to consume almost everything possible in the level. When you see a vacuum at any point, be sure you’ve checked all of the area before going into it. You should also look to consume all of the Blob Friends in each level, as they are part of the final level score.

One thing to take note of is that there are some levels you will need to a bit of backtracking. You may have passed some objects that you would not be able to consume initially. But as you progress through the level and get larger, you would then be able to consume these objects.

Notable troublesome spots:

Level 2: Smash the glass beakers, 300 points each.

Level 7: Magnet jump to the roof on the left, there are MANY dots up here.

Level 11: There are a couple of spots where you will ride through a vent and need to repel or attract in order to be on side of the vent or the other. Try to get all of the dots in these two sections. If you notice you missed any dots, press :select: to respawn at the last checkpoint and try again.

Level 16: At one point, you will climb up some platforms and come to a cow near a spinning laser. Push the cow into the laser. A single chunk of cow is worth the same as the cow itself so the all the chunks of one cow will be worth 400/500 points versus the 100 points for the cow itself.

Story related, cannot be missed.

As you progress on the final level (Level 24), you will become large enough to consume the solar system. This includes the asteroid belt, several planets, and, as you reach the largest possible size, the sun. This trophy will pop after you’ve consumed the sun.

Ok...picked up the Vita version of this game (when it was bundled and on sale a bit ago) and plan to tackle it in the next couple of weeks so...this guide will be severely tested since I used the other guide to 100% this on the PS3. If I don't get 100% on the Vita...it will totally be the new guide's fault. Letting you know now guide scribe.

Thanks for the guide, Slamma! :D Wow, this one was a whole lot easier than the first Blob game! I had tons of fun with this one, though! :) And easier trophies made for a more relaxing experience. Thanks again! :D

Glad it helped

My 2 cents.

Level 2 I was only able to make it by jumping right at the beginning of the section while exiting the tunnel. You'll be able to land repeatedly on the first chair, giving you a huge advance against the laser. Then train how to grab the blue dots on top of the fridge and you probably don't even have to get the last blob friend. If I tried to smash the glass funnels I wouldn't ever be able to finish the level.

On the level where you need to jump from one cloud to another, don't jump near the cloud end, or you'll never make it. Jump from just after the middle of the first cloud.
