This is a complete walkthrough of the game with trophies in mind, meant to get you your platinum as quickly as possible.

Getting the (P) for Silence will require two playthroughs in total - one where you don't die at all and one where you die at every opportunity - and the guide is written with that in mind. For the sections where death is possible, I have written out the method for avoiding followed by obtaining the death. You can do the playthroughs in whichever order you choose, though I'd suggest collecting the deaths the first time through, so your second playthrough can be a speedrun.

Also note that some of the steps listed for certain trophies MAY be unnecessary. The game doesn't have any sort of checklist, so I've simply listed out every step which at least SEEMS to be part of the requirements. I am going to do more testing to narrow down the requirements, but as it is, this guide is guaranteed to get you the platinum trophy.

The guide is broken out into Scenes based on major transitions, signified primarily by cutscenes as well as location changes. Some Scenes contain multiple locations, but they are self-contained, in that you can still walk between them. This is primarily to keep the walkthrough in digestible and obvious sections (you will know when you are in the "Swamp" section based on your surroundings, so this will help you keep your bearings).

Setup

Since you will be doing two playthroughs, for your first you can go ahead and use the "Snoopkey" (hints) with :l3: and :r3: so you can familiarize yourself with the objects around you, and more quickly select the given items. However, for your 2nd playthrough, you will want to disable hints via the main menu, under Options > Hints, otherwise you risk voiding a trophy.

You need to be aware also of two buttons you should NEVER touch, unless stated otherwise. The :touchpad: and :circle: should NOT be touched, especially while anyone is talking, as pressing either will skip the text, voiding the Fine Listener trophy. You will be skipping minigames via the :circle: button for the Done. First! trophy, but I will tell you when to do so, so just pay attention to the steps in the guide below. I suggest reading a few steps ahead of your current position so you have an idea of what's coming up.

In the guide below, I have marked non-necessary steps (those required only for trophies) as dark red. Note that these steps can be skipped entirely if you are doing your speedrun. Only the plain black steps are required to progress through the game normally.

2 Playthroughs

As stated above (and a few other times in the walkthrough - I want to make sure it's clear) the platinum will require two playthroughs. Listed below are the goals of the two playthroughs, so you have a high-level idea of what you're doing:

Playthrough 1: No deaths, most miscellaneous trophies

  • No deaths for Nothing can stop me. Note that if you DO die, pause immediately and reload the checkpoint.
  • Succeed all balance checks for Artistic master.
  • Do not skip any text (by using :touchpad: or :circle:).
  • Get most of the miscellaneous trophies.
  • Follow the guide EXACTLY, line for line, top to bottom, save for avoiding the steps labelled (Sadist)

Playthrough 2: Speedrun, all deaths, no hints

  • Before you even start this playthrough, go to the main menu, and choose Options > Hints, and uncheck all options for Sherlock Holmes
  • Further to the above, do NOT press :l3: or :r3: AT ALL during this playthrough, aside from the one time at the beginning that it is required for the tutorial. Just tap :l3: once quickly for that step. Note that pressing either button at any point, even during cutscenes, will void the trophy.
  • Every time you see (Sadist) follow those steps to collect the 4 deaths required for the Sadist trophy.
  • At the beginning of the game, fail the first balance check 3 times in a row for Artistic fool.
  • Also near the beginning of the game, at the first death opportunity, die twice for To err is human....
  • Aside from the above, skip all Dark Red steps. These steps are related to miscellaneous trophies that you should already have.
  • Counter to the above, if you are missing any miscellaneous trophies, look for them in the walkthrough and do them on this playthrough.

Legend

Scene # - Given Name

(Current Character)

- (TIMED) - This action is time-sensitive.

- Dark Red text means this step is required for a trophy, but not for a regular playthrough; you can skip these for your speedrun

- Action to perform (Trophy name GET) - You should earn the named trophy at this step

(Nothing can stop me) - The steps following this will save you from a Sadwick death for the Nothing can stop me trophy

(Sadist) - The steps following this will lead you to a Sadwick death for the Sadist trophy

- Move Object direction - This means you need to hold :cross: on the named Object, then push the analog in the given direction, typically to move or push the object

- Use Object x3 - Use the named object 3 times

Noteworthy Missable Trophies

The following trophies deserve special mention, as you can easily ruin them and have to do an additional playthrough if you mess them up:

  • Nothing can stop me - Finish the game without dying (these are noted in the walkthrough below)
  • Sherlock Holmes - Finish the game without using the snoopkey (don't press :l3: or :r3: at all for one playthrough, save for the time it's required in the tutorial). BEFORE starting your 2nd playthrough (speedrun), from the Main Menu go to Options > Hints and uncheck ALL boxes to disable the Snoopkey
  • Fine Listener - Finish the game without skipping a text (don't press :touchpad: or :circle: while characters are talking, or ever, unless instructed to do so in the guide)
  • To err is human... - Trigger the same game over sequence twice in a row (at any of the points marked (Sadist), follow the instructions to get yourself killed, and then repeat those steps a second time. The earliest you can earn this is in Scene 4 - Outside Worm; simply choose "Don't listen to that." twice in order to die twice.

If you mess up any of the above, you can quickly pause the game and "Load Last Checkpoint" to reload the area.

Unmissable Trophies

The following trophies will unlock during your first playthrough regardless of the decisions and interactions you make:

  • Chapter I
  • Chapter II
  • Chapter III
  • The Green, the Fat, the Ugly
  • Like a moth in the wind

Guide is up, and ready for any feedback anyone might have.

As I stated at the beginning of the guide, I will be re-testing it for posterity this weekend.

Progress on all trophies carries over through playthroughs though, so in the case that someone decides to follow the guide, and does NOT obtain a trophy, let me know here and I can look at my notes to tell you the rest of the possible interactions for whatever you're missing, at which point you'll just have to go through speedrun-style to hit up those specific interactions.

Thank you so very much Noid for the platinum walkthrough. My girlfriend bought the game for our accounts a couple days after release and I will get the platinums for both of us I told her. I've just been checking this site each day waiting on one of these guides. And you came through! Very much appreciated!

No problem, glad it will help!

One thing to keep in mind is that I am in the midst right now of confirming exactly what counts for Useless but beautiful. If you plan to follow the guide in the next day or so, I suggest that whenever you can be Spot, interact with everything in the world before moving on to other stuff. Do so as Flat, Normal, AND Fat Spot. I'll be filling in those blanks today/tomorrow, but for now it's the only thing that's "missing" from the walkthrough. I've listed the most elusive ones, but I may have missed a few.

It was weird for me to accept the fact that there were only 2 interactions for Summit Attempt, but the ones you added make sense. Great job.

Cheers bud! Some of the steps MAY be unnecessary, but better safe than sorry, at least until I can whittle them down by playing on my alt accounts. :)

I missed two trophies, after playing my second run. Blind, the first; with this guide, the second.

  • Useless but beautiful
  • To err is human...

Maybe I have not done enough attention, on the first. Strange, but possible.

I go now with a third run, speed. In any case thank you, Noid ;)

Noid is a silent but deadly legend. Did you catch that?

Noid is for real.

Yeah "Useless but beautiful" I am currently confirming the requirements on an alt account, and there are a few currently not in the walkthrough for sure, which I will have filled in today.

As for "To err is human", simply die twice at any of the spots in the walkthrough marked (Sadist)

Hope that helps!

EDIT: I've made a note in Scene 4 about this trophy, as well as in the "Noteworthy Missable Trophies" section in the OP. Thanks for your feedback! :)

Update!

I have gone through another playthrough to confirm everything on an alt account. There may still be a few steps in there that are unnecessary, but in order to rule out specific steps in the middle of the game I'd have to do 2 whole playthroughs to rule out each one step. Being that each step for the (Useless but beautiful) trophy specifically takes about 3-5 seconds each, I'm not going to waste time ruling out any more than I already have.

As it is now, following the guide will get you the platinum in 2 playthroughs, as advertised.

Any further questions or feedback let me know and I'll be happy to confirm what I can!

Also, side note: I do not plan to write a Trophy Guide & Road Map for this game, just the walkthrough (it was a LOT of work!), so if anyone would like to write a full and proper trophy guide for the game, I hereby grant full permission to 1) link to this walkthrough in your guide, and 2) use my guide yourself, borrowing information from it. Feel free to PM me if you require any guide-specific information. :)

About that trophy.. you've added something new, from the first draft?

EDIT. Ok, I read.. and yes, there are new points. Once again, thank you for this guide ;)

No problem! Yeah I added all of the interactions from my notes, minus those I was able to confirm were not needed. I played on an alt and did a clean sweep of the trophies, following my own guide. I was able to confirm that the guide will get you the platinum by doing so myself and following it to the letter. :)

Hi Noid

It is the last time I will be annoying you with my questions, I promise. I just would like to have confirmation on some points :

- Boot talk : are you sure we need to kick the plug ? I am asking that because the icon of the boot does not appear. Also, is kicking the Seeker once enough ? No need to do it again with the other Lumi and/or Spot (does the kicking with Spot counts toward Useless but beautiful instead) ?

- Buggy game : thanks for confirming only 3 bugs have to be found.

- Useless but beautiful : No need to interact with Kyra with fat Spot at the bridge despite the animation ? You say to interact with Kyra with flat Spot next to the honey tree, but she is only talking to him, does that really count ? How talking to Spot back at the camp with Renie counts toward the trophy ? I don't remember him doing anything when talking to him ? Did I miss something ? If eating things count, why don't we need to eat the mushroom which is blocking the way back at the ruins ? The animations of flat, normal and fat Spot with the broken Stone Gate are not necessary ? No need to interact with the dragon Skin Sail while you are split into balls ? What about the tentacle eyes with fat and thin Spot which shows different animations ? The interaction with the Rubber Slingshot produces a special animation but is not included for the trophy ? Next to the end, do you have to use the Seeker with Renie or Spot ?

- Shut up clown : so you have to talk to Kyra's statue with Renie's candle too ? Is that certain ?

I apologize for all these questions and again, thanks for the amazing job you did.
