Metropolis: Lux Obscura is match-3 puzzle battle game that is also in the style of a comic book. The battle system is random, and you will be rewarded with different upgrades and traits for winning fights. There are four different endings and if you're seeking the Platinum Trophy you'll need to obtain every single ending at least once.

Trophy-wise, the game can be easy if you're following a Guide which will lead you to getting all the 4 endings in the quickest way possible. There are 5 combat trophies, but one of them is for dying for the first time while the others you'll need to actually try for. I've marked these as missable as it's possible for you to complete all 4 endings and still be missing these combat trophies. While playing the game, focus on the following:

  • Dealing 50 and 100 damage in a single turn.
  • Turn the police tokens into anger tokens.
  • Win a fight after collecting 10 police tokens.

Those three things should be your biggest concern. It's all random and the upgrades you select for power ups will matter in unlocking them (the power ups can make them much easier for you). With those things in mind, the rest of the trophies are all story related even though they do require different paths for you to take.

**Notes on Glitchy Trophies**

There are some trophies that can glitch and not unlock for you. To fix the issue, you'll need to close the game and simply reboot it or you can also re-download the save file you made and try again. Re-downloading a save file also closes the game application. There's no way to tell if your trophies will glitch or not with the worst ones being the combat trophies. If you know you did 100 damage in a single turn and still didn't unlock the Like Chuck (G) trophy, I highly recommend you close the game without even finishing that fight and retry that same fight again for the trophy to unlock correctly. If story related trophies glitch on you, then it is best to retry it again by using the continue option after closing the game application.

Note also that the save file after defeating the Strip Club's security guard is needed if you want to reduce the number of playthroughs down to exactly 4 while using save file manipulation method by reloading this save and continuing on towards each ending appropriate to which one you are playing for.

Step 1: Ending Route 1 ~ Words are loaded pistols.

This playthrough will focus on getting the ending without a gun. Additionally, use this playthrough to get familiar with the gameplay mechanics. You might not get any combat trophies during this playthrough but if you do it will reduce some work needed for other playthroughs. Follow the walkthrough in the Words are loaded pistols trophy description for a guide on how to get this ending.

At the end of this step, you will have earned the following trophies:

  • (B) Club
  • (B) Bridge
  • (B) Drugstore
  • (B) Tork
  • (S) Bar
  • (S) That same dealer
  • (S) Trap
  • (S) Words are loaded pistols
    and very probably...
  • (B) You're dead

Step 2: Ending Route 2 ~ The choices we make.

This ending will focus on another ending. During this playthrough I recommend going for the Angry policemen (S) trophy and additionally, try your best to get as many damage and critical power ups as you can as the final fight will be hard due to the last opponent having 250 health. The more damage you can deal, the better chances you have to defeat him. For the ending related trophy, please see the trophy description for The choices we make.

At the end of this step, you will have earned the following trophies:

  • (S) Candy
  • (S) Farm
  • (S) The choices we make

Step 3: Ending Route 3 ~ Hell for the company.

This playthorugh will focus on another ending and it's highly recommended that you attempt to go for the Bite the bullet and Like Chuck trophies so see those trophy descriptions for methods on how to pop them. For a description on how to unlockl this ending please refer to the Hell for the company trophy description.

At the end of this step, you will have earned the following trophies:

  • (S) At the club again
  • (G) Sound of da Police
  • (G) Warehouse
  • (G) Bikers
  • (B) Hell for the company

Step 4: Ending Route 4 ~ She saved you a bullet.

This is the final playthrough for the last ending so see the She saved you a bullet trophy description for that. Also, if you still have any combat trophies that you need to unlock you should attempt to unlock them during this playthrough or you may need another 'clean up' playthrough to get them.

At the end of this step, you will have earned the following trophies:

  • (G) Goldie
  • (G) She saved you a bullet

Step 5: Cleanup.

This is an optional step and may not be needed if you were working on the combat related trophies during previous steps but if not then now is the time to clean them up.

Trophies you might be missing:

  • (B) You're dead
  • (S) Angry policemen
  • (S) Tough guy
  • (G) Bite the bullet
  • (G) Like Chuck

Once you have unlocked trophies then of course comes the final one...

  • (P) Metropolis: Lux Obscura Platinum

Congrats!

Get one of main endings without a gun.

Note: This trophy can be glitchy, meaning if you reached an ending without a gun it could potentially not unlock for you. You can either close the game and reboot it to retry again in a different playthrough or you might get lucky and the trophy will unlock along with a different ending. For example, this trophy can also unlock for the ending that requires a gun. You can also make a backup save before doing this final mission and potentially avoid the hassle of replaying the game again.

This is one of many endings of the game. For this ending, you'll need to take the drugs from the drug dealer on the bridge. To get it, follow this walkthrough:

  • Select Comeback
    • Dialogue: Look Around
    • Fight: 1 Opponent who attacks in 3 turns

    [*]Select Falcone

    [*]Select Strip Club

    • Fight: 1 Opponent who attacks in 2 turns
    • Make a backup save via :ps+: Cloud Save or a USB Flash Drive. This will allow you to skip the first two fights without having to redo them in later playthroughs.

    [*]Select Dealer

    • Fight: 1 Opponent who attacks in 1 turn
    • Important Choice: Take Drugs

    [*]Select Reward

[*]Dialogue: Make any choice you want of 'Show Him Drugs' or 'Just Take Car Keys' as it doesn't matter.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/7097/388.jpg Club (B)

At the door of the club.

Story related, cannot be missed.

This trophy is at the Strip Club and will unlock by arriving there for the first time. It should be noted that you'll have to fight a bouncer security guard at the door. This fight is story related and he's a little tough since you don't have that many power ups yet. You should manage to easily defeat him, if not, he could also be the first opponent to kill you which will unlock the You're dead (B) trophy if you haven't died yet.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/7097/3c2.jpg Bridge (B)

Meeting on the bridge.

Story related, cannot be missed.

This trophy is at the Dealer and will unlock by arriving there for the first time. This fight is also very important as it is the very first fight affected by choices. He's also a very tough opponent as he can attack in 1 turn every single time. This means you want to do your best to match more than 4+ tiles to deal more damage to him. The faster you to beat him, the better. After defeating the drug dealer, you must make a choice of either of the following:

  • Take Drugs
  • Let Him Go

Both lead to different ending trophies, so you will have to eventually replay the game again for the other choice. Following the Roadmap section will reveal the path route to all ending trophies.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/7097/b8f.jpg Drugstore (B)

Visited drugstore.

Story related, cannot be missed.

This trophy is at the Drugstore and will unlock by arriving there for the first time. You'll have to fight 2 opponents so make sure you're fighting smart and play it safe. Be sure to use first aid tokens to heal as your health carries over into the next fight.

I have been a personal driver.

Story related, cannot be missed.

This trophy is at the Mess With Tork and will unlock by arriving there for the first time. During this mission, you'll have to fight a bulldog and once you defeat it the mission will be complete but be careful, the dog has 200 health points and can attack in 2 turns.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/7097/463.jpg Bar (S)

No good night at the bar.

Story related, cannot be missed.

This trophy is at the Story Selling and will unlock by arriving there for the first time. You'll find you're back in the bar where you started the game. The opponent will be the same guy from the tutorial fight, however he's much tougher to defeat now. You should have no issues with defeating him with all the power ups you've gathered at this point.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/7097/03c.jpg Candy (S)

Met with Candy.

Story related, cannot be missed.

This trophy is at the Story Selling and will unlock by arriving there for the first time. There is no fight here, just watch the cutscene and the mission will end.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/7097/d98.jpg That same dealer (S)

Got a new task.

Story related, cannot be missed.

This trophy is at the News and will unlock by arriving there for the first time. This mission is just a cutscene and there are no fights in it.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/7097/58f.jpg Trap (S)

Caught in a trap.

Story related, cannot be missed.

This trophy is at the News and will unlock by arriving there for the first time. This fight is against 2 opponents so be mindful of your health as it carries over to each fight. This ending will also unlock one of the four ending related trophies. If you're followingthe Roadmap, the ending you'll receive will be for the Words are loaded pistols (S) trophy.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/7097/a2b.jpg Farm (S)

Visited farm.

Story related, cannot be missed.

This trophy is at the Farm and will unlock by arriving there for the first time. This fight has 2 opponents but each fight is separate, however if you die you'll need to redo both fights again. This ending will also unlock one of the four ending related trophies. If you're following the Roadmap, the ending you'll receive will be for the The choices we make (S) trophy.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/7097/d05.jpg At the club again (S)

New troubles at the club.

Story related, cannot be missed.

This trophy is at the Intrusive Client and will unlock by arriving there for the first time. You'll revisit the strip club again and will get in a fight with a drunken guy. He should be very easy to defeat as it takes him 4 turns to attack you.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/7097/4c5.jpg Sound of da Police (G)

Met with the police.

Story related, cannot be missed.

This trophy is at the Bliss' New Hobby and will unlock by arriving there for the first time. This mission requires you to fight two police officers as your opponents. Defeat them to end the mission but be mindful of your health.

Visited warehouse.

Story related, cannot be missed.

This trophy is at the Crime Scene and will unlock by arriving there for the first time. This mission will have you fighting against 3 opponents, so be mindful of your health as it carries over on all fights.

There's a guys on two wheels.

Story related, cannot be missed.

This trophy is at the Redemption and will unlock by arriving there for the first time. You'll also have to fight 2 opponents who attack in 3 turns and 4 turns to complete this mission. This ending will also unlock one of the four ending related trophies. If you're following the Roadmap, the ending you'll receive will be for the Hell for the company (B) trophy.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/7097/1a1.jpg Goldie (G)

Almost met with Goldie.

Story related, cannot be missed.

This trophy is at the This Love and will unlock by arriving there for the first time. There is 1 opponent that you'll have to fight who attacks in 3 turns. http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/7097/9b1.jpg You're dead (B)

Died for the first time.

Self-explanatory. You'll unlock this trophy without even trying. The AI will get very lucky and destroy you sometimes. You might also unlock this while attempting other combat related trophies but fail while attempting them due to the luck based nature of the game.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/7097/cd6.jpg Bite the bullet (G)

Win a fight after collecting 10 police tokens.

(Missable)

This is best done in the beginning tutorial fight as later fights get tougher and you take more damage. Police tokens are the police badges that you see on the board. When you match 3 or more Police Tokens you'll take damage due to the police arriving and beating you up. I recommend doing this in the beginning tutorial fight because you take less damage in this fight and have plenty of opportunities to collect the 10 police tokens to unlock this trophy. Additionally, be sure to use the first aid healing tokens as well to heal the damage that you're taking and prolong the fight. Once you've matched more than 10 police tokens and know that you've met the requirements. Win the fight and the trophy will unlock.

NOTE- This trophy is glitchy. If you know you have met the requirements for definite and it has not unlocked, reload the last save and you can re-attempt it.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/7097/490.jpg Angry policemen (S)

The police turned into anger.

(Missable)

This trophy is random and can only be done by collecting the power up called Amok; A chance to turn all police tokens to anger after any 4+ match. This power up will convert all police tokens into anger tokens. Every time you win a fight, the game will give to a chance to pick one of four different power ups. These power ups are random, so you might need a different playthrough until you get the correct token(s) you want. The game has four different endings, so you'll be doing multiple playthroughs anyway especially if you're seeking the Platinum Trophy. If you want to make sure you have this token at the start of the game, you'll need to make sure you select it after winning the beginning tutorial fight until you get it to appear (keep restarting a new game).

It should be noted that Level is a 15% chance of all police tokens being converted into anger tokens. You can increase this percentage by selecting Level 2 (30%) and Level 3 (45%) in later fights. The higher the level, the more likely it'll happen when you line up more than 4+ tokens of any type (don't use the police tokens for this). The 15% chance is very generous and usually happens.

NOTE- This trophy is glitchy. If you know you have met the requirements for definite and it has not unlocked, reload the last save and you can re-attempt it.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/7097/64b.jpg Tough guy (S)

50 damage points in a single turn.

(Missable)

Please see Like Chuck (G) for more information.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/7097/ff3.jpg Like Chuck (G)

100 damage points in a single turn.

(Missable)

This is the hardest trophy to unlock in the game but there are ways and methods that can make this much easier in later fights. It is possible to do 100 damage points and still unlock the 50 damage points trophy (Tough Guy) along with it too. It all comes down to luck and hopefully your fight doesn't encounter any glitches when you meet the requirements and won the fight. Sometimes you'll get very lucky and might unlock the 50 damage trophy without even trying. It should be noted that tiles and tokens that fall down and automatically get used in places they fell will also count towards any damage points dealt in that single turn.

Make sure to get the power ups that increases critical hit chances and double damage chances. These power ups will help greatly with dealing insane damage within a single turn. Once you have your power ups, try your best to match more than 5+ tokens to increase the damage that they'll do compared to matching a 4+ tokens. The best way to go about doing this is by matching tiles that form a 'L' or 'T' shape with the 5+ tokens. If you got the correct power ups, the boot token with 5+ can do damage of 24 * 5 = 120 damage points. That is an example of unlocking both the Tough guy and Like Chuck trophies in a single turn. The trophies will unlock once you've won the fight.

NOTE- This trophy is glitchy. If you know you have met the requirements for definite and it has not unlocked, reload the last save and you can re-attempt it.

Excellent... Only words are loaded guns trophy glitched once for me. Thanks for the guide

Great guide. Thx!

Words are a loaded pistols did glitch on me but it unlocked in playthrough 2. Everything else was fine.

Imo, the continual sexual references/images warrant the NSFW warning more than the violence (which I considered not so bad).

No problem, glad to see it getting some use. :)

I don't think the devs of this game will release a patch to fix the glitchy trophies. I didn't bother to ask them either because the (P) is still possible. Sometimes patches can make things worse like they did for The Brookhaven Experiment. That game was fine until they released a patch no one asked for and broke a trophy.

On a side note, apart from the playthrough where I worked toward getting the Like Chuck trophy, I found it much easier to complete the game if I selected defensive buffs at the end of fights.

There are usually diminishing returns after level 2 (even sometime after level 1), so I'd focus on an other buff as soon as I'd hit lvl 2.

Dmg reduction + Buffed Healing + Higher starting HP + Enemy skip turn really made the remaining playthroughs a joke.

I believe I have that mentioned in the roadmap. The only damage reduction were the police tokens thing. Been awhile since I last played, so will have to check power up names again.

I seem to forgot to mention the skip turn but yes, I do recommend it. I'll have to look up the same of that power-up to add it. It's a pretty common one though.

Isn't there one called Paranoid that gives dmg reduction vs police tokens AND enemies (lvl1 90%; lvl2 80%, lvl3 70% iirc) ? There is also one that reduces to odds of having police tokens, which I never used (lvl 1 gives 80% odds instead of 100%).

Yes, it mentioned in Step 3 of the Roadmap. The one that reduces the police tokens is Amok. That one is mentioned in Step 2. I also have them separated because Amok wasn't good for the other combat trophies in my opinion. Only needed to get the Angry policemen (S) trophy.

The one that reduces the police tokens is Amok.

I think you mean that Amok (police badge with red background) = Odds of turning police tokens in Anger tokens when 4+ match. Only useful for Angry Policemen trophy

There is also that perk (police badge with blue background) that reduced the odds of having police tokens. I have not used it because I though other perks were better.

I agree though, both of these perks aren't that good, so I'd skip them.

I tried to stick to the following set up for example.

Paranoid lvl 2 (overall dmg reduction)

Morphine Addict lvl 2 (med kits efficiency boost)

The guy doing a FU lvl 1 - (enemy skip turn)

The pill bottle lvl 2 - (higher starting hp)

Short Tempered (fist -> bottle -> knuckle --> knife) and/or (odds of double dmg) if none of the above could be found at the end of a fight.

Sorry I have deleted the game and I forgot the name of the perks xD.
