Introduction:

Mega Man X (letter, not roman numeral) Legacy Collection 2 is a collection of Mega Man X5, Mega Man X6, Mega Man X7 and Mega Man X8 on the PS4. The X series is a continuation of the original series, taking place 100 years later and staring X, Dr. Light’s final creation. It is a fast paced, side scrolling platformer with some minor RPG elements. As in the original Mega Man, you will run, jump, shoot and dash your way to 8 robot masters, steal their weapons and then ultimately take on a gauntlet of stages to get to the final big bad.

Also included in this collection is a new mode called X-Challenge, which is a battle royal of X versus 2 of the robot masters from Mega Man X to Mega Man X6. Bosses from X7 and X8 are not included due to the 3D design of those games.

Rookie Hunter mode

A new easy mode that can be activated in game by pressing :touchpad: or before launching a game. It significantly reduces damage to a point where most attacks won't even hurt you. Spike death and pitfall death only inflict damage. Finally, it does not disable any trophy that does not SPECIFICALLY say it cannot be used.

In Game Difficulty

As long as you do not enable Rookie Hunter mode, internal game difficulty settings such as Easy or Hard do not disable trophies. Just make sure to abide by the trophy descriptions for specific trophies.

Walkthrough:

Step 1: Mega Man X5

Complete Mega Man X5 on normal difficulty. Focus on unlocking the Ultimate Armor and if possible successfully firing the Enigma. If the Enigma fails, you can let the colony fall and get the bad ending. Otherwise, work on the good endings, in which you need to save before the last stage so you can beat the game with both X and Zero. Then turn on Rookie Hunter mode and go back for whatever you missed.

On this step you should/can earn:

Out of the Frying Pan (B)

The Red One—No, the Blue! (B)

Insert Tab A Into Slot B (B)

Up, Up and Away (B)

By Your Powers Combined (B)

You're Quick, Man (S)

The Trick Is Not Minding (B)

Armor of Light (B)

Time Paradox (S)

Alright, It's Over! (B)(H)

As Long As I Have This Saber (S)

Step 2: Mega Man X6

Complete Mega Man X6 on normal. I HIGHLY recommend unlocking the Ultimate Armor on your normal run. From the title screen, select start and press :left: :left: :left: :right:. You’ll hear a chime. That means the Ultimate Armor is unlocked. Or press press :l1: :l1: :l1: :r2: to unlock Black Zero, who is overpowered and can clear Gate's stages on his own.

For trophies, you only need to complete the game once, so focus on doing everything in your first run, using the Ultimate Armor to clear many of the games challenges.

On this step you should/can earn:

Wait, What!? (B)

Glitch in the System (B)

Ice-Skating Uphill (B)

Theatricality and Deception (B)

My Ult Is Ready (B)

What's Special About SA? (B)

Let's Do This Right (B)

Unfinished Business (B)(H)

Blackout (B)(H)

I'm Sure It's Over This Time (B)(H)

Let's Build a Real Utopia (S)

Step 3: Mega Man X7

Complete Mega Man X7 on normal. It’s possible to do everything trophy wise in one run, but be extremely careful when rescuing reploids. The game starts off pretty tough, so focus on rescuing reploids until you're strong enough to defeat the Mavericks, and at 64 reploids rescued you get access to X, who is needed for a few trophies.

On this step you should/can earn:

Smooth Operator (B)

Beep Boop I Am a Robot (B)

You Got a License for That? (B)

The Exquisite Art (B)

If You Want Peace... (B)

Hold My Drink (S)

Take to the Skies (B)

Who Rescues the Rescuer? (S)

Unstoppable (B)

It Has to Be Over Now (B)(H)

We Haven't Seen the Last of Them (S)

Step 4: Mega Man X8

Complete Mega Man X8 on normal. Normally the trophy requirements are unlocked using New Game+, but it’s possible to unlock all the options from the main menu using passwords.

On the title screen, when it says “Press :options:”, enter these codes. You can enter multiple codes at a time. Each time there is success, you’ll hear an audio confirmation.

Unlock the Sigma Blade: :l3: :l3: :r3: :l3: :l3: :r3: :l3: :l3: :r3: :l3: :l3: :r3:

Unlock Battle with Cut Man: :left: :circle:  :triangle:  :cross: :right: :square: :l1: :r1: :l2: :r2:

Unlock Alia:  :r1:  :l1: :square: :cross: :triangle: :circle:

Unlock Layer: :square: :square: :right: :cross: :r1:

Unlock Pallette: :r1: :cross: :left: :square: :square:

Unlock Ultimate Armor X: :left: :left: :left: :right: :right: :right: :left: :left: :left: :left: :right: :right: :right: :right:

Unlock Black Zero: :l1: :l1: :r1: :r1: :l1: :l1: :l1: :l1:

Unlock White Axl: :l2: :l2: :l2: :r2: :r2: :r2: :l2: :l2: :l2: :r2:

Focus on building and collecting your medals and upgrading your characters to take on the Mavericks.

On this step you should/can earn:

Heroism Protocol Engaged (S)

Crushin' It (B)

Overdrive (B)

Strike First Ask Questions Later (B)

Rival Revival (B)

Awakening (S)

Total Eclipse (B)(H)

Doin' It For Themselves (S)(H)

It Feels So Right... (B)(H)

DLN.003 (B)(H)

It's Over, Once and For All (B)(H)

Step 5: X-Challenge

Take everything you’ve learned and take on the X-Challenge mode. All the trophies can be unlocked in easy mode.

On this step you should/can earn:

Speed of Light (S)

Can't Hit Me (S)

Try Three on One Next Time (S)

Step 6: The Galleries

Once you clear X Challenge, view the gallery and listen to some music. There are some bonus extras in these modes that can be unlocked, gaining a few trophies.

On this step you should earn:

Another Day, Another Recon (B)

They've Hacked Our Comms (B)

Defrag Complete (B)

Step 7: Clean up

Go back and clean up any remaining trophies and earn your (P).

On this step you should/can earn:

Earn all trophies and prove yourself as the ultimate Maverick Hunter.

This is the platinum. It is very shiny. You got all the trophies! Congratulations.

Complete the opening stage of any game in both the English and Japanese versions.

You’ll need to change the version of any Mega Man X game from the US to the Japanese Rockman X version in the main menu. Select a title and press :square: to switch between the Mega Man or Rockman version of the game. Select the game of your choice. Then all you have to do is beat the opening demo stage. The difference between them is non-existent, save for the translations. There is no need to do it in English first, as its all story only.

I recommend Mega Man X6. The opening stage is easy and not overly burdened with Alia. It has also been suggested that the Japanese version of Mega Man X7 has easier enemies.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/7257/500.jpg The Saga Complete (G)

Complete Mega Man X5, X6, X7, and X8.

Beat all four games in the collection to earn this trophy. You only need to complete each game once with either X, Zero or Axl when applicable. Axl can only be used to earn this trophy in Mega Man X7 and X8. You may use Rookie Hunter mode as well, but note that each game has a trophy for beating it without using Rookie Hunter mode.

Fire the Enigma and detonate the colony in Mega Man X5.

This trophy is luck based. You need to fire the Enigma and destroy the colony, essentially unlocking the final stages early. It’s recommended to save your game after collecting every Enigma component. Then, when you get to the select screen, fire the Enigma.

The Mavericks that have the parts to upgrade Enigma are Crescent Grizzly, Tidal Whale, Volt Kraken and Shining Firefly. Ignore all the others.

To fire the Enigma, on the stage select screen, press :r1:. Here you can see its stats, though you cannot tell if it will succeed or not.

Research suggests that the RNG for the Enigma is determined during the Weapon Get screens, prior to getting to the stage select. So, once you get the third Maverick, make a backup and keep trying each time you beat the fourth Maverick for the fourth component.

After the fourth Maverick is beaten, the Enigma fires automatically. If it fails, reload your save and try again.

Here is a method for using Rookie Hunter mode to increase your chances. It is unknown if this is 100% as I have heard mixed reports.

Defuse seven consecutive bombs in Spiral Pegasus' stage in Mega Man X5.

There are seven bombs in Spiral Pegasus’ stage. Once you see them you have 5 seconds to destroy them. They are easy enough to destroy. But you have to destroy all 7 in one life. If you die, you need to restart. You can attempt this as many times you like, even after Spiral Pegasus is defeated. You’ll know if you fail to disarm a bomb because the area you’re in will get destroyed.

The first five bombs are in sequential rooms at the beginning of the stage. The last two are near the end when riding an elevator.

Here is the location of each bomb:

Obtain eight upgrade parts for equipping to armor in Mega Man X5.

(Missable)

There is a pretty deep trick to getting the eight upgrade parts. As explained in the forums:

The hours left determines the base level of bosses. This is a bit misleading, as your hours left still decreases even after you shoot Enigma and launch the shuttle. Entering a stage consumes one hour.

16 Lv. 1

15-14 Lv. 3

13-12 Lv. 5

11-10 Lv. 7

9-8 Lv. 9

7-6 Lv. 11

5-4 Lv. 13

3-2 Lv. 15

1-0 Lv. 17

The hunter rank of the current character adds a certain value.

Rank E to Rank A doesn't add anything.

Rank SA adds 2 levels.

Rank GA adds 4 levels.

Rank PA adds 8 levels.

Add 1 level for each maverick defeated.

Credit AnimuBoobaru

So first and foremost, you do not want to play the game on easy as this makes the Mavericks level 1 all the time. As you play the game, the Maverick bosses will level up. The closer the game gets to the deadline, the higher their level. The higher your hunter rank, the stronger the boss as well. X starts at Rank B and Zero at Rank SA.

Start off by taking X into Crescent Grizzly’s stage and jump into the opening on the very left or going into Volt Kraken’s stage and using the pitfalls. Once you run out of lives do not continue and return to the stage select. Do this until there is only 11 hours left on the clock (or less). With Zero at Rank SA, every boss going forward should drop a part. If you prefer to use X at B rank, then get the clock down to 10 hours. If the timer hit’s zero, you’ll lose Zero. So be mindful of that as well. However, if the Enigma or the Shuttle are successful, the clock no longer matters.

After defeating a level 8 or higher Maverick, select Weapon & Life + or Weapon & Energy + as your spoils in the Weapon Get screen. It takes two more in game “hours” for a part to be completed and added to your inventory during another post stage Weapon Get screen. Once you beat all 8 Mavericks, just enter a few stages (collecting the last collectibles you missed) and escape to get your parts once they are done.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/7257/350.jpg Up, Up and Away (B)

Defeat an enemy while wearing the Falcon Armor in Mega Man X5.

Unlike past installments, Mega Man X5 has two armor sets, for 8 different armor Capsules. However, you cannot equip individual parts; instead, you collect the set and the completed armor can be selected in the stage select before starting a new stage. Also, many but not all armor capsules can be collected by Zero as well as X.

You must collect all four parts for the Falcon Armor to make it selectable. The armor capsules are located in the following areas:

  • Foot Parts: Located in Crescent Grizzly’s stage. Near the end after getting off of the exploding trucks, you will see an opening in the rock ceiling. Work your way up there to get the capsule.
  • Body Parts: Located in Tidal Whale’s stage. When you get in dry land, navigate until you drop down an opening with spikes on the right wall. The capsule is right there on your way. You need to use X and the Goo Shaver weapon to detonate the bomb, breaking the wall and gaining you access.
  • Head Parts: Located in Volt Kraken’s stage. You need to collect all 7 of the glowing orbs in the Land Chaser section, to open the door to the capsule after the segment’s conclusion.
  • Arm Parts: Located in Shinning Firefly’s stage. After the beginning of climbing the spiral staircase in part 2, you’ll come across several large wall mounted Prism Generators. There is one hidden in an opening in the ceiling at the top of the first ascent. Destroy it to open the path to the capsule.

Now equip the Falcon armor, enter a stage and destroy one enemy with it. Any enemy will do.

Defeat an enemy while wearing the Gaea Armor in Mega Man X5.

Unlike past installments, Mega Man X5 has two armor sets, for 8 different armor Capsules. However, you cannot equip individual parts; instead. you collect the set and the completed armor can be selected in the stage select before starting a new stage. Also, many but not all armor capsules can be collected by Zero as well as X.

You must collect all four parts for the Gaea Armor to make it selectable. The armor capsules are located in the following areas:

  • Foot Parts: Located in Spike Rosered’s stage. You need the Falcon Armor to reach it. In the area with the wide open pit where you cross by wires, notice the opening in the ceiling. Fly up there to reach it.
  • Body Parts: Located in Spiral Pegasus’s stage, in the open air room with a 45 degree ride-able platform. You need the Falcon Armor to reach the parts. Hop on the elevator, ride it for a few seconds then fly to the upper left corner of the room. The capsule is up there.
  • Head Parts: Located in Dark Necrobat’s stage. You need to use the F-Laser to destroy the wall blocking the capsule from the other side. Direct the F-Laser with the D-Pad and carefully guide it through the opening. If you fail, just use the spikes to get a new life. If you run out of life’s select continue to start right at the capsule for another attempt.
  • Arm Parts: Located in Burn Dinorex’s stage. Right underneath the boss door, near the exit for the underground lava part, is the capsule. It’s difficult to get without hitting lava, so use either Falcon Armor X or Zero to reach it.

MepGQHW.jpg

Now equip the Gaea armor and complete a stage with it. Use it on the second Zero Virus stage to simultaneously earn The Trick Is Not Minding (B).

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/7257/6da.jpg You're Quick, Man (S)

Complete Zero Stage 1 without using Dark Hold in MMX5 (cannot be earned in Rookie Hunter mode).

(Missable)

This is probably the hardest trophy in the MMX5 set, if not the entire game. The first Zero Stage is an homage to Quick Man’s stage in Mega Man 2, meaning the dreadful laser beams are present. The Dark Hold special weapon can stop time, making getting past these beams a trifle. Doing this without the Dark Hold requires precise timing.

You may use upgrade parts to boost your speed. Refer to Insert Tab A Into Slot B (B). Weapons & Energy + on Crescent Grizzly nets the Hyper Dash. The same for Spiral Pegasus nets the Speedster.

Rookie Hunter mode will not help you here. But what will help you is a trick involving rapidly pausing the game. Doing this will allow you to gauge the circumstance for a second or two and give you a moment of reaction in between pauses to correct your trajectory.

The first set of lasers is pretty basic and very easy to bypass. But once you get into the big empty room on your descent, its game on.

If you die, it’s OK. Just keep continuing from whatever checkpoint you’re at until you get through. The Falcon Armor is a good choice if you play as X, because you can put distance between yourself and the lasers, especially in the third and final part. Zero can double jump instead.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/7257/9b6.jpg The Trick Is Not Minding (B)

Defeat Rangda Bangda W while wearing the Gaea Armor in Mega Man X5.

(Missable)

Refer to By Your Powers Combined (B) to learn how to unlock the Gaea Armor. The Gaea Armor is a great armor to take on this stage, if you can reach the end with it. The Gaea Armor is immune to spikes, so using it on Rangda Bangda removes that threat.

The real trick here is the stage, which is an homage to Sigma Fortress 1 from the first Mega Man X. It’s a difficult trek in the Gaea Armor, with its severe lack of options. Remember that the Gaea Armor sticks to walls, it doesn’t slide down. So at the very beginning on the platforms, you can cling to the platforms and wait for them to move right to left, where you can dash jump on top. If they are moving left to right and you’re stuck on the side, WAIT. Another thing you have working for you is that you’re immune to spikes, which near the end of the stage become prominent. Finally, you don’t have to worry about death in normal mode. If you die, just continue. You can keep going from your last checkpoint.

Rookie Hunter mode is an option for reducing damage, but it doesn’t make the platforming any easier.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/7257/76c.jpg Armor of Light (B)

Obtain the Ultimate Armor from a Light Capsule in Mega Man X5.

(Missable)

You need to play as X on the third Zero Stage levels. There is a hidden capsule here. Unlike past games, the only requirement for it to appear is to play the level with X without his armor, i.e., normal X. You can unlock the other armors, just don’t use them in this stage.

This stage is hard to navigate without armor. You need to carefully time your dash jumps, but it can be done.

After crossing the large gorge you’ll get to a few spike traps with cleverly placed platforms. Pass the first few spike traps until you get to a pitfall with a platform blocking the first half of it. Slide down this pitfall along the right wall until you find the opening to the capsule.

X will gain the Ultimate Armor from Doctor Light, only you have to return to the stage select to equip it. Your stage progress isn’t lost but you have to start the third Zero Stage over.

If you come to this capsule with Zero instead of X, you’ll get Black Armor Zero. I am told that by re-entering the level after getting the capsule you can get the capsule for the other hero. (Credit Satoryu).

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/7257/08d.jpg Alright, It's Over! (B)(H)

Defeat Final Sigma W in Mega Man X5.

You must defeat the final boss of Mega Man X5.

The final Sigma is no joke. I recommend doing this with the Ultimate Armor if it’s your first time and you are aiming for As Long As I Have This Saber (S).

The first form, Psycho Sigma, isn’t too bad. You can avoid most of his attacks easily enough and use the Nova Strike whenever he dashes.

His second form’s tricky. You can only damage him when he’s solid, not a wire frame and you have to attack the crystal on his head. His weakness is the Spike Ball, but the Nova Strike is much easier and more effective. So wall jump and Nova Strike his head. Don’t get careless as he still deals a lot of damage.

Also, there is a situation where even though I had sub tanks in store, I could not open the pause menu to access them. As far as I can tell this is a glitch. It might be caused due to accidental usage of :touchpad: prior to pausing. But after exiting the :touchpad: menu I still couldn’t open the menu and lost the round.

View all endings of Mega Man X5.

There are three endings in Mega Man X5. The endings are not dependent on which character is selected at the beginning of the game.

The endings are:

  • X’s Good Ending – Beat the game as X, with Zero
  • Zero’s Ending – Beat the game as Zero
  • X’s Bad Ending – Let the colony fall, Zero go Maverick and beat the game as X

Two endings you should be able to get in one playthrough. The other requires a different method. If you’re following this walkthrough, here is how to unlock them in the most efficient way.

  1. Play the game on normal without Rookie Hunter mode. DO NOT let Zero go Maverick. I.e, destroy the colony. Unlock the Ultimate Armor with X in Zero Stage 3. Save the game after the battle between X and Zero in Zero Stage 3. Beat the game as X with the Ultimate Armor to unlock X’s good ending.
  2. Reload your save game to start up at the final stage. Switch over to Rookie Hunter mode and select Zero. Beat the last stage and get Zero’s ending.
  3. Start a new game. On the character select, unlock the Ultimate Armor for X from the beginning with this code:
           then select X.
You’ll hear a chime if the code is accepted and X will start with the Ultimate Armor.
You want the colony to fall this time. Either let the clock run out or force it to fail by doing the following.
Fire the Enigma right away (with Rookie Hunter mode turned off). It should fail and if it doesn’t, restart and spend a game hour in a stage. Then launch the shuttle (with Rookie Hunter mode turned off) with a failed result. Again, if the shuttle succeeds just restart and play an hour in game before trying again.
If both the Enigma and the Shuttle fail, the colony will fall and Zero should go Maverick. Beat the game as X with Rookie Hunter mode turned on at this point and unlock the bad ending.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/7257/377.jpg As Long As I Have This Saber (S)

Complete Mega Man X5 (cannot be earned in Rookie Hunter mode).

Beat Mega Man X5 on normal. You cannot lower the difficulty with Rookie Hunter mode and earn the trophy. The trophy pops at the end of the credits when “Thank you for playing” displays.

Tips and Tricks

Crescent Grizzly is the best stage to begin, because he’s easy to beat and there is a glorious sub tank right in open view.

Refer to Up, Up and Away (B) and By Your Powers Combined (B).

The 8 Heart Tanks are found here:

  • Crescent Grizzly – Once you get off of the first batch of exploding trailers, use the Falcon Armor to move up an opening in the ceiling. Then fly right to the heart tank.
  • Tidal Whale – After getting to dry land, keep going until you see a gap with spikes. Using the Gaea Armor, climb that opening and work your way into this room. The heart tank is at the end. Don’t worry about the spikes, the Gaea Armor is immune.
  • Volt Kraken – Visit the stage with the Gaea Armor. Make your way all the way to the end. There is an electric barrier opening a path to a spike laden room upstairs. You need to break a block before opening a new electric barrier to the heart tank,
  • Shining Firefly – At the very beginning, after breaking the drawbridge, drop into the chasm with the Gaea Armor. The heart tank is to the right, on the spikes.
  • Dark Necrobat – It is located in part two of the stage. In one of the inverting gravity rooms, toggle the gravity to open a path to the heart tank by dropping the blocks and putting the heart tank in the upper right.
  • Spiral Pegasus – The heart tank is located in a very obvious place. Near the end on the elevator before the boss, next to one of the bombs, there is a heart tank.
  • Burn Dinorex – When you get to the volcano in the middle of the stage, fall down the first of the two openings which will drop you closer to the left wall while it’s inert. When you land you must quickly dash left to the wall and go down a hole to the room with the heart tank. You only have a few seconds in between eruptions to do this before the volcano erupts.
  • Spike Rosered – Near the beginning, you will see some blocks which can be destroyed with the Gaea Armor. Break them and go in that area. Near the end there is a large pit. You need to push a block with the dash to create a step to jump across, but before you can do that you need to push another block to fill a gap in the floor. Solve the puzzle and you can reach the heart tank.

6FeHXf5.jpg

The 4 Sub Tanks are found here:

  • Sub Tank – Located in Crescent Grizzly’s stage. After escaping the exploding trains, you’ll see it at the front end of one of them.
  • Sub Tank – Located in Dark Necrobat’s stage. It is on a platform at the very end of part 1 that requires either the Falcon Armor, Ultimate Armor or Zero’s double jump to reach.
  • Weapon Tank – Located in Spiral Pegasus’ stage. When you ride the slow elevator down, it breaks through a few weak floors. The weapon tank is located in the center of the third floor.
  • EX Item – Located in Shinning Firefly’s stage. Near the beginning, you’ll see a wooden ceiling that can be destroyed with the Ground Fire. The EX Item is above and can then be reached.

Try falling into a pit in Rookie Hunter mode in Mega Man X6.

This is as easy as it sounds. Load up Rookie Hunter mode and fall into a pit. Use Infinity Mijinion’s stage. There’s a pit right at the start.

000.jpg Glitch in the System (B)

Encounter all 8 stage-affecting nightmare phenomena in a single playthrough of Mega Man X6.

The Nightmare is a stage altering affect that causes negative gameplay. It’s triggered after exiting a Maverick stage. Stages affected by the Nightmare will appear red on the stage select screen. Visit those stages to suffer through the Nightmare.

Here is a list of which stage to exit and which stage(s) become affected by the Nightmare.

  • Commander Yammark’s stage -> Shield Sheldon, Blaze Heatnix
  • Ground Scaravich -> Shield Sheldon, Metal Shark Player
  • Blaze Heatnix -> Infinity Mijinion, Blizzard Wolfang
  • Blizzard Wolfgang – Metal Shark Player
  • Rainy Turtloid -> Commander Yammark, Ground Scaravich
  • Metal Shark Player -> Blaze Heatnix, Ground Scaravich, Ifinity Mijinion
  • Shield Sheldon -> Rainy Turtloid, Blizzard Wolfgang
  • Infinity Mijinion -> Commander Yammark, Rainy Turtloid

The Nightmare effects to check off the list are:

  • Nightmare Rain – Windy rain in Commander Yammark’s and Ground Scaravich’s stage.
  • Nightmare Mirror – Located in Rainy Turtloid and Blizzard Wolfgang’s stages. Copies of X and Zero that attack you. Use Shield Sheldon to trigger this.
  • Nightmare Iron – Located in Blaze Heatnix, Ground Scaravich and Infinitiy Mijinion’s stage. Silver, moving obstacles.
  • Nightmare Ice – Located in Metal Shark Player’s stage, part 2. Floors are covered in ice.
  • Nightmare Fire – Located in Blizzard Wolfang’s and Infinity Mijinion’s stage. Fireballs fall from the sky.
  • Nightmare Dark – Located in Rainy Turtloid’s stage. A very dark filter the cuts off the outer edges of the screen gets added, making it very hard to see.
  • Nightmare Cube – Red/Brown blocks located in Metal Shark Player and Shield Sheldon’s stage.
  • Fireflies – Located in Shield Sheldon and Blaze Heatnix’s stages. I saw a separate reference to the lasers of Shield Sheldon’s stage, but it is the fireflies.

Have Zero return to the Maverick Hunters in Mega Man X6.

To make Zero return, you need to find and defeat the Nightmare Zero hidden boss.

In each stage there is an alternate path, usually in the shape of an energy crystal like pattern, leading to an optional boss room. Each time you defeat the optional boss, the boss changes. The first time you enter this room, you will face the Nightmare Zero. The second time, High Max. And every time after that it’s Dynamo.

If you’re having a hard time finding one, go to Infinity Mijinion’s stage after clearing it the first time. The optional teleporter should appear before the boss door.

Nightmare Zero is no joke. He attacks fast and hard. If you’re using naked X, he can kill you quite easily. But with the Ultimate Armor, he’s a joke so go that route on your first run.

Defeat an enemy while wearing the Blade Armor in Mega Man X6.

Unlike past installments, Mega Man X6 has two armor sets, for 8 different armor Capsules. However, you cannot equip individual parts; instead, you collect the set and the completed armor can be selected in the stage select before starting a new stage. Also, armor capsules can be collected by Zero as well as X.

You must collect all four parts for the Blade Armor to make it selectable. The armor capsules are located in the following areas:

  • Foot Parts: Located in Commander Yammark’s stage. After the first descent you’ll land on solid ground where a mantis enemy is. There is an opening to the right that leads to the capsule.
  • Body Parts: Located in Shield Sheldon’s stage. After the first stretch of laser traps, open the door down rather than right. At the end of that path open the door leading down again. In the next room, go left instead of right to find the capsule.
  • Head Parts: Located in Ground Scaravich’s stage. It’s in one of the random rooms to appear. If the room does not appear, reenter the stage and try again.
  • Arm Parts: Located in Infinity Mijinion’s stage. After clearing the stage for the first time, there should be an optional teleporter just before the boss door. Use this teleporter. It will take you to an optional area of the stage. As soon as you teleport in, move left to find both the capsule and the heart tank.

ZCBx2Qc.jpg

Once all four are obtained, equip the Blade armor and enter a stage with it. Destroy any enemy that you find to earn the trophy.

Defeat an enemy while wearing the Shadow Armor in Mega Man X6.

You must collect all four parts for the Shadow Armor to make it selectable. The armor capsules are located in the following areas:

  • Foot Parts: Blizzard Wolfang’s stage. When you get past the falling avalanche and reach a downward slide, you’ll see a small ledge near the top. Use the Blade Armor, Ultimate Armor or Zero to reach it.
  • Body Parts: Rainy Turtloid’s stage. At the end of the stage, in the final room with Acid Rain, you’ll notice on the walls small spike riddled openings. You need the Blade Armor to get through these. Jump and dash JUST before hitting the ground to get through. In the upper right of the screen, you need to do this twice to get to the capsule.
  • Head Parts: Metal Shark Player’s stage. Located after the second compactor. Instead of going down, go left. You have to be real fast to get through this section. Then you must use a long range jump to cross the gorge. If you have the Ultimate Armor, just start a jump into the gorge followed by a Nova Strike.
  • Arm Parts: Blaze Heatnix’s stage. After fighting the second Nightmare Snake, there is a room where you can climb up. Go straight up, using the Blade Armor’s vertical dash to get up there. The heart tank and the capsule are there, as well as a teleporter to a sub-tank.

Once all four are obtained, equip the Shadow armor and enter a stage with it. Destroy any enemy that you find to earn the trophy.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/7257/a50.jpg My Ult Is Ready (B)

Defeat an enemy while wearing the Ultimate Armor in Mega Man X6.

Because Mega Man X6 is a difficult mess, I recommend actually doing this on your starting, non-Rookie Hunter mode game. From the title screen, select start and press :left: :left: :left: :right:. You’ll hear a chime. That means the Ultimate Armor is unlocked. Start the game and X will begin in the Ultimate Armor. Kill the first enemy you see and the trophy will pop.

Keep going and beat the game. The Ultimate Armor will make things much more manageable.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/7257/4d1.jpg Blackout (B)(H)

Defeat an enemy as Black Zero in Mega Man X6.

From the title screen, select start and press :l1: :l1: :l1: :r2:. You’ll hear a chime. That means Black Zero is unlocked. Once you find him (refer to Unfinished Business (B)(H) for more) and add him as a playable character, send him to a stage and defeat any enemy. He should appear in black instead of red. If he’s red, you need to restart the game and try again.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/7257/c60.jpg What's Special About SA? (B)

Raise your hunter rank to GA in Mega Man X6.

In Mega Man X6, you increase your hunter rank solely by collecting Nightmare Souls. Rank GA isn’t that hard to reach; it only takes 1200 souls.

You get Nightmare Souls by defeating Mavericks, Dynamo and various Nightmare Viruses scattered around the game. However, they only drop the souls one time per stage. Once they are destroyed, collect the soul before they reappear or you are destroyed. If you do not, the soul is lost even after starting a new life.

Cycling between stages like Ground Scaravich and Commander Yammark will give you many souls and enough time for them to re-spawn. In all likelihood, if you’re keen on defeating enemies in each stage, you should be close or past Rank GA by the time you beat the eight Mavericks.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/7257/5aa.jpg Let's Do This Right (B)

Defeat all eight Mavericks before assaulting the laboratory in Mega Man X6.

(Missable)

By default, the Gate’s Laboratory is unlocked by defeating the 8 Maverick bosses. However, it’s possible to accelerate the end stages by defeating High Max in the optional rooms, after beating the original tenant. Instead, just beat the 8 Mavericks before beginning Gate’s Laboratory. Simple.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/7257/611.jpg I'm Sure It's Over This Time (B)(H)

Defeat Hell Sigma in Mega Man X6.

You must defeat the final boss of Mega Man X6.

If you took my advice and are using the Ultimate Armor, you can use it to destroy the first form of Sigma with almost no pain. The second form is a little tougher, but he is manageable. Go in with two full sub tanks and attack Sigma when his mouth is open. He is weak to Magma Blade/Ground Dash/Ensuizan/Sentsuizan but you can also use the Nova Strike, though it’s hard to spam it without taking damage.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/7257/062.jpg Let's Build a Real Utopia (S)

Complete Mega Man X6 (cannot be earned in Rookie Hunter mode).

Beat Mega Man X6 on normal. You cannot lower the difficulty with Rookie Hunter mode and earn the trophy. The trophy pops when the credits end and you display the results screen with :square:.

Mega Man X6 is cruel. The nightmare system makes the game play incredibly difficult. Add that to the fact the game was rushed, so many challenges seem very poorly balanced and unfair. So don’t feel pressured to go for a 100% run your first time. Focus on the trophies and getting past Mega Man X6 altogether.

Tips and Tricks

Commander Yammark is an easy first boss to get the game rolling.

I HIGHLY recommend doing this with the Ultimate Armor or Black Zero, as the game is quite difficult without either.

The 8 Heart Tanks are found here:

  • Commander Yammark – Hidden in a small room you can drop into just before the large open end area, along with two Reploids.
  • Ground Scaravich – Hidden in another random room. If the room doesn’t appear, exit and re-enter. It’s in plain sight.
  • Blaze Heatnix - After fighting the second Nightmare Snake, there is a room where you can climb up. Go straight up, using the Blade Armor’s vertical dash to get up there. The heart tank and the capsule are there, as well as a teleporter to a sub-tank.
  • Blizzard Wolfgang – Located in an area that right below the Dr. Light Capsule that’s only accessible if the Nightmare Fire is active, causing fire to rain from the sky. It is occupying the same space as a reploids. You need either Zero, Shadow Armor or Blade Armor to reach it.
  • Rainy Turtloid – In the puzzle before the boss door, there are several spike riddled entrances to off camera rooms. On the left side, let X either use the Blade Armor to dash trough, or just take damage and use temporary invincibility to run left. The heart tank is in one of those rooms.
  • Metal Shark Player – In part 2 of the stage, it is located in plain sight along the compactor path.
  • Shield Sheldon – Use the lasers to open the extended path below the boss room. Proceeding along that way you’ll find it on the spiky floor.
  • Infinity Mijinion – After clearing the stage, return and enter the optional teleporter at the end. It will take you to the secret area. The heart tank is to the left, next to the Light capsule.

The 4 Sub Tanks are found here:

  • Sub Tank – Located in Commander Yammark’s stage. After descending in the first area and going left, the tank is located on an overhang in the upper left. You need to use the Blade Armor, Shadow Armor or the Ultimate Armor to reach it.
  • Sub Tank – Located in Blaze Heatnix’s stage. After fighting the second Nightmare Snake, there is a room where you can climb up. Go straight up, using the Blade Armor’s vertical dash to get up there. The heart tank and the capsule are there, as well as a teleporter to a sub-tank.
  • Weapon Tank – Located in the optional area, it is resting on some spikes.
  • EX Item – Blizzard Wolfang’s stage. Located in an area that right below the Dr. Light Capsule that’s only accessible if the Nightmare Fire is active, causing fire to rain from the sky. Down the spike pitfall, there is a spiky floor with the EX Item.

Listen to all of Alia's support calls in Mega Man X7.

(Missable)

Alia likes to give advice throughout the game. When she does you’ll see an icon in the corner of the screen. Press :r3: to listen to what she has to say.

There aren’t that many messages and they are not unique to each character. Below is a checklist of each message you need to hear and where to hear them. If you miss one, just return to a Maverick stage to re-listen. What’s listed here is just the opening line of each message.

You start the game off with Axl with internal monologue instead of Alia support. These messages DO count towards the trophy.

You can use New Game+ to go back and collect what you missed if need be.

Escape (Axl, each of these are missable)

  • ???: A security laser? No Problem...
  • ???: You must turn both security lasers off…
  • ???: You must hurry, so dash past the lasers while they’re off…
  • ???: Uh-oh…
  • ???: Is that a Runnerbomb?...

Obtain all four armor parts in Mega Man X7.

In order to collect the Glide Armor, you need to first unlock X. He’s the only one who can access the Light Capsules.

The armor capsules are located in the following areas:

  • Foot Parts: Located in Soldier Stonekong’s stage. Use some Apestones to reach a tree branch where the capsule is at.
  • Body Parts: Located in Wind Crowrang’s stage. Near the end of the stage, there will be a fork of three paths you can take. Take the left path to a dead end with the capsule and an injured reploid.
  • Head Parts: Located in Snipe Anteater’s stage. You need to navigate the gravity maze of part 2 to find it. Note that you need to make paths appear before switching sides to reach it.
  • Arm Parts: Located in Flame Hyenard’s stage. It is located near the end of part 1, below where you fight the Dragon Blasters.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/7257/cbc.jpg Who Rescues the Rescuer? (S)

Rescue all wounded reploids in Mega Man X7.

(Missable)

There are 128 reploids scattered throughout the game, 16 in each of the 8 Maverick stages. Many are easy to reach, but some can be killed by environmental conditions or close by enemies. The location of each of these reploids is documented in a separate guide, located HERE, as there are too many to list here.

You can confirm how many you have rescued in the Stage Select screen by pressing :r1: and opening the Rescue File. Note that you do NOT want ANY of them to be DEAD. If they are, you have failed and need to either reload an old save or start a new game.

If a reploid is touched or hit by an enemy in any way, they will die and be permanently lost. But you do not have to find all reploids in a stage in one run.

Every time you clear a stage, save to a new save file, so as to not overwrite your progress from that stage. That way, if you screw up you only have to go back one stage at a time.

When you rescue all 128, the trophy will pop when you get to the results screen.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/7257/a5f.jpg It Has to Be Over Now (B)(H)

Defeat Sigma's second form in Mega Man X7.

You must defeat the final boss of Mega Man X7.

Beating Sigma is a long challenge. The first form is easy enough to deal with, but the second form has a lot of HP and is almost always out of range.

Sigma’s final form will disappear into the background and either fire green energy balls at you, orange energy balls or he will attack you with a superman punch. When he’s in the middle, he typically either attacks you with those same green energy balls or a laser from his belt buckle. When he’s up close he fires more orange energy at you.

Zero can reflect the green energy back at sigma just by pressing and holding :square:, which a lot of times has the added benefit of hitting him after he changes attacks.

The biggest thing you need to be concerned about is the floor. Watch your footing. It’s possible to beat Sigma on the center platform, rather than risk jumping and falling. But his Superman punch can knock you into the pit.

The trophy pops once the battle’s over.

Use chips to upgrade any one character to maximum in Mega Man X7.

(Missable)

Chips are earned by rescuing reploids and can be used for upgrades after rescuing them and exiting a stage. X, Zero and Axl each have 12 upgrade slots, so you will need a minimum of 12 to funnel at a single character for upgrades. There are 2 reploids with upgrade chips in every Maverick stage. Note that Chips are permanent upgrades. Once applied, they cannot be moved.

A separate guide for locations on each reploids is located HERE. The reploids you specifically need to find are:

  • Matthew
  • Tim
  • Fay
  • Michael
  • Keiko
  • Lily
  • Peter
  • Rick
  • Dave
  • Simon
  • Barry
  • Damon
  • Rin
  • Malibe
  • Rock
  • Tanaka

Note that upgrade progress is carried over to New Game+. So if you prefer to spread out upgrades, that is also an option.

Tips and Tricks

Enemies do not drop much in the way of health items. But there is a big one right after part 1 of Tornado Tonion’s stage, when fighting the Mechaniloid. So when charging your sub tanks, use this with super recover to fill them very quickly. The charge even holds in your save game. Also, after beating the Palace Road, you can save the game so you never have to do that again.

The Japanese version reportedly has easier enemies than the US version. Credit: Satoryu

The trophy pops after the credits when you get to the save screen.

The 8 Heart Tanks are found here:

  • Deep Forest (Soldier Stonekong) – Hidden beneath/inside a destroyable Apestone.
  • Radio Tower (Tornado Tonion) – It appears inside of a vanishing block near the end of the stage.
  • Battleships (Splash Warfly) – After fighting the three Dragon Blasters, on the Boat on fire, it is hidden behind one of the crates.
  • Lava Factory (Flame Hyenard) – In part 2, as you progress there will be a “Y” in the road made of some pipe. The tank is in the middle of the pipe.
  • Central Circuit (Ride Boarski) – Hidden in plain sight on the course.
  • Cyber Field (Snipe Anteater) – Hidden inside the gravity maze of part 2.
  • Air Forces (Wind Crowfang) – In the first part of the stage, you’ll jump on a crashing red jet. You need to time your jumps right, getting on the jet and grabbing the heart tank before losing your footing.
  • Tunnel Base (Vanashing Gungaroo) - In the Ride Armor battle royal, it’s located on the top of one of the pillars.

The 4 Sub Tanks are found here:

  • Sub Tank – Located in Tunnel Base (Vanashing Gungaroo). In the Ride Armor battle royal, it’s located on the top of one of the pillars.

Upgrade X, Zero, and Axl to a power rating of 100% in Mega Man X8.

To do this you’ll need to find most of the Rare Metals and purchase each of the upgrade chips for X, Zero and Axl in R&D. You will also need to earn a large cache of Metals just to purchase all the upgrades to get each character to 100%.

For a full list of Rare Metal locations and how to get them, see HERE.

Finding and purchasing the Metal Generator chip will allow you to earn metals just by moving. To earn the Metal Generator, you need to get top rankings in all the training sessions in Troia Base. You also cannot die in between training sessions or the rankings will drop. I used Zero, with the D-Glaive or T-Hammer and the Rasensetsu. Bring the Prickle Barrier for the last stretch just in case.

The Metal Discount Rare Metal is located in Metal Valley. Return here with X and the ability to charge boss weapons after beating Earthrock Trilobyte. Use a charged Crystal Wall to summon the Rare Metal from the Earth.

Note that you also have to unlock the Σ Blade to be able to upgrade Zero to 100%. The Σ Blade is unlocked after beating the game, in New Game+. Alternatively, a password can be used to unlock it on your first run. On the title screen, when it says “Press :options:”, enter this code:

:l3: :l3: :r3: :l3: :l3: :r3: :l3: :l3: :r3: :l3: :l3: :r3:

Finally you have to farm Metals. My tried and true method is to go to Booster Forest, put a rubber band on my controller and just run into the left wall (right after teleporting in) for hours once I have the Metal Generator and Metal Discount. This method generates about 30k of metals in about 45 minutes.

Another method described by CrossNova is:

I used Axl's Ice gatling on Trilobytes stage positioned between the Armor piece and the Giant robot that chases you and just hold the square button with a rubber band or something. It gave me 100000+ metals per hour. Or replay Sunflower's stage intermission 7000+ metals with metal generator per clear, takes at least 5-6 minutes with Ultimate Armor.

Defeat an enemy using Giga Crush in Mega Man X8.

The Giga Crush is a special weapon available when the Neutral Armor is loaded with a full set of “I” Parts, becoming the Icarus Armor.

The armor capsules are located in the following areas:

  • Foot Parts I: Located in Booster Forest (Bamboo Pandamonium). You need to take the Ride Armor past the first section until you pass the room with the Ride Armor battle royale. Cross the pitfall and put the Ride Armor on the elevator. Raise the elevator and use the Ride Armor to dash jump left. Then exit the armor when you get as far as you can, jumping onto the ledge. Make sure to bring the Prickle Barrier.
  • Body Parts I: Hidden in Troia Base (Earthrock Trilobyte). After running from the giant Mechaniloid, it will run away damaged and you have to follow. The rocks blocking the capsule will be removed and you can use the Melt Creeper to destroy the canisters in the way.
  • Head Parts I: Hidden inside a secret room in Gravity Antonion’s stage. Navigate a spike filled room where there is an offshoot.
  • Buster Parts I: Located in a capsule near the end of Noah Park. Just bring X along when you’re able to revisit it.

On the character select screen, select Armored X and equip it with a full set of Icarus armor. Take it into a stage like Booster Forest and use the Giga Crush on a random enemy. Select the Giga Crash from the weapon menu and press :triangle: to defeat an enemy. Any enemy will do.

Defeat an enemy using X-Drive in Mega Man X8.

The X-Drive is a special weapon available when the Neutral Armor is loaded with a full set of “H” Parts, becoming the Hermes Armor.

The armor capsules are located in the following areas:

  • Foot Parts H: Located in Inferno (Burn Rooster). After the first auto scrolling you’ll come into a dark room filled with spikes to navigate. You’ll see the capsule on the left. Carefully wall jump up the narrow path avoiding the spikes to reach it. Bring the Prickle Barrier.
  • Body Parts H: Located in Pitch Black (Dark Mantis). Near the end, in an elevator guarded by lasers, go up instead of down. The capsule is there.
  • Head Parts H: Located in Central White (Avalanche Yeti). Take Zero and X. At the end, use Zero to double jump above the boss door. Then use the Shining Ray to break the ice, opening the capsule.
  • Buster Parts H: Located in Troia Base (Optic Sunflower). It’s in the upper left corner after the fourth training session. You need the Squeeze Bomb to break the barrier to reach it.

Defeat an enemy using Nova Strike in Mega Man X8.

To use the Nova Strike, you need to unlock the Ultimate Armor. There are two ways to unlock it. First, you need a new game+. Then get X's Icarus and Hermes armor upgrades. Finally upgrade X to 100%.

The other is to use a code on the Game Start screen. On the title screen, when it says “Press :options:”, enter this code: :left: :left: :left: :right: :right: :right: :left: :left: :left: :left: :right: :right: :right: :right:

Select the Ultimate Armor X and take him into a stage. Use the Nova Strike the first chance you get to earn the trophy. Select the Nova Strike weapon, jump in the air and press :triangle: to use it. It doesn’t work on the ground.

Perform a double attack as Black Zero and White Axl in Mega Man X8.

To do this you must first unlock both Black Zero and White Axl. Black Zero can be unlocked on a new game+ after Zero reaches 100% upgrade by purchasing the Sigma Blade. White Axl is unlocked by beating the game with Axl.

Alternatively, you can use these passwords from the title screen. On the title screen, when it says “Press :options:”, enter these codes:

Unlock Black Zero: :l1: :l1: :r1: :r1: :l1: :l1: :l1: :l1:

Unlock White Axl: :l2: :l2: :l2: :r2: :r2: :r2: :l2: :l2: :l2: :r2:

Take Black Zero and White Axl into a stage and use the double attack with :r2: when the attack gauge is full. Both characters must be alive to use a double attack.

Fight as Alia, Layer, and Pallette in Mega Man X8.

Mega Man X8 has a neat feature where the three navigators, Alia, Layer and Pallette can become playable characters. Alia is an analog for X, Layer for Zero and Pallette for Axl. They play exactly the same, minus Armor.

There are two ways to unlock them. The standard method is to beat the game. The navigator you used the most in your first playthrough will become available for purchase in R&D. In your new game+, use each remaining Navigator four times in four different missions each to unlock them for purchase as well.

The other method is to use a code to unlock them for purchase from the R&D shop by using a code on the title screen. On the title screen, when it says “Press :options:”, enter these codes:

Unlock Alia:  :r1:  :l1: :square: :cross: :triangle: :circle:

Unlock Layer: :square: :square: :right: :cross: :r1:

Unlock Pallette: :r1: :cross: :left: :square: :square:

Either way, they cannot be used until you clear Noah’s Park. Once you purchase their Chips from R&D, select them in the character select screen and use each one in a stage.

The trophy popped the first time I took two navigators to a stage after unlocking all three.

Defeat an enemy using the Sigma Blade in Mega Man X8.

The Sigma Blade (or Σ Blade) is unlocked after beating the game, in New Game+. Alternatively, a password can be used to unlock it on your first run. On the title screen, when it says “Press :options:”, enter this code:

:l3: :l3: :r3: :l3: :l3: :r3: :l3: :l3: :r3: :l3: :l3: :r3:

Once you earn enough Rare Metals to purchase the Σ Blade, take Zero into a stage and use it.

Encounter Vile V four times and defeat him before completing the Gateway stage in Mega Man X8.

(Missable)

Vile will appear randomly in various stages as you play through the game. The key is to keep playing stages and fight him before you complete the Gateway stage. It’s ideal to do all of this before you face him in Jacob.

Apparently, the trick to facing Vile in stages is to visit them multiple times. Visits in multiples of 3 for Troia Base (Optic Sunflower), Pitch Black (Dark Mantis) or Inferno (Burn Rooster). Visits in multiples of 4 for Booster Forest (Bamboo Pandamonium), Primrose (Gravity Antonion) or Metal Valley (Earthrock Trilobyte).

After encountering Vile 3 times in random stages and after all 8 Mavericks have been beaten, you can return to Noah Park to face him before going to Jacob.

Encounter and defeat Cut Man in Mega Man X8.

To reach Cut Man, you need to clear Optic Sunflower’s stage with high marks. For each test, you need to clear them quickly or kill a certain amount of enemies. You need to get top rankings in all the training sessions in Troia Base. You also cannot die in between training sessions or the rankings will drop. I used Zero, with the D-Glaive or T-Hammer and the Rasensetsu. Bring the Prickle Barrier for the last stretch just in case.

Alternatively, you can use a code to force the battle with Cut Man. On the title screen, when it says “Press :options:”, enter this code:

:left: :circle:  :triangle:  :cross: :right: :square: :l1: :r1: :l2: :r2:

Defeat Lumine's second form in Mega Man X8.

You must defeat the final boss of Mega Man X8.

The final battle is fought in three parts. First, you need to defeat Sigma, once and for all. After that, it’s time to take on Lumine. Lumine’s first form will copy the powers of all 8 Maverick bosses, so pay attention to his behavior and counter attack as appropriate. After that, you must face Lumine’s final form.

Of significant note, when you get close to finishing him off, Lumine will begin using Paradise Lost and the music will change. At this point, you only have very little time to finish him off before he uses Paradise Lost, which results in instant Game Over. You must break his guard quickly, 3 times in total before he can be attacked. Then defeat him quickly before he attacks.. If you have a full double attack, use that to get an easy win once his guard is down.

Bringing the Icarus Armor along is a good way to stretch out your life bar. The Icarus Armor does not lose any red HP, meaning that if X is damaged and is not being used, his life bar can FULLY recover given enough time sidelined.

The trophy pops after the post battle dialogue ends as the ending plays.

Tips and Tricks

To expedite trophy progress, select Game Start and use the unlock codes.

On the title screen, when it says “Press :options:”, enter these codes. You can enter multiple codes at a time unlocking everything for one playthrough. Each time there is successful entry, you’ll hear an audio confirmation.

Unlock the Sigma Blade: :l3: :l3: :r3: :l3: :l3: :r3: :l3: :l3: :r3: :l3: :l3: :r3:

Unlock Battle with Cut Man: :left: :circle:  :triangle:  :cross: :right: :square: :l1: :r1: :l2: :r2:

Unlock Alia:  :r1:  :l1: :square: :cross: :triangle: :circle:

Unlock Layer: :square: :square: :right: :cross: :r1:

Unlock Pallette: :r1: :cross: :left: :square: :square:

Unlock Ultimate Armor X: :left: :left: :left: :right: :right: :right: :left: :left: :left: :left: :right: :right: :right: :right:

Unlock Black Zero: :l1: :l1: :r1: :r1: :l1: :l1: :l1: :l1:

Unlock White Axl: :l2: :l2: :l2: :r2: :r2: :r2: :l2: :l2: :l2: :r2:

A good first stage is Metal Valley (Earthrock Trilobyte). The boss is easy enough to beat even with lower power. Plus there is an easy to reach Rare Metal that allows for purchase of the Life Bottle Full item which helps in a pinch. It’s hidden above a big skeleton (that gets destroyed soon after) at the beginning and can be reached with Zero.

There is a particularly annoying block puzzle in Primrose (Gravity Antonion). If you're having difficulty, keep coming back to this stage. Eventually, you'll fight Vile in that room instead if you haven't gone too far into the end game. But it can be legit cleared easily by hanging onto the right wall and going between those blocks. Keep moving against a block on the floor when the blocks start constantly moving. It may look like you'll get squashed, but you can still move so long as you keep running. Just go back and forth between the two right most blocks.

Complete any X Challenge stage with at least 9:00 left on the timer.

You have one minute to beat an X-Challenge. This is best done on the first challenge in easy mode. Select challenge 1-1, against Chill Penguin and Frost Walrus, with the Fire Wave selected. I recommend changing your special weapon to :square: because :triangle: feels odd.

Both Chill Penguin and Frost Walrus are weak to fire, so the Fire Wave will take them out easily.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/7257/2d5.jpg Can't Hit Me (S)

Complete any X Challenge stage with no more than 3:00 left on the timer.

This is an easy one. Select the first X Challenge in easy mode and weaken one boss and eliminate the other. Then let the timer run down to less than 3:00. Once there is 3:00 left, defeat the second boss.

The best way to run down the timer is just press :options: to open the weapon menu, as this does not pause the timer, but does pause the boss.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/7257/3d3.jpg Try Three on One Next Time (S)

Complete all X Challenge stages.

X Challenge mode pits X against a gauntlet of bosses, fighting two Mavericks at once, in sets of three for a total of 6 bosses that must be beaten in each challenge. Before going into the gauntlet, you can select 3 power up weapons. You’d be wise to pick one weapon weakness for each pair of Mavericks, because it’s much easier to get rid of one fast and deal with the other than leave them both in indefinitely.

Each challenge will shuffle the available weapons at your exposure. Fortunately, every Maverick weakness weapon is available for selection for that challenge. Some weapons, such as Fire Wave or Speed Burner, are effective against multiple bosses too.

You can do this all on easy difficulty. You don’t have to suffer through any higher modes. Easy mode allows you a full health and weapon energy recharge in between every 1v2 match. Every boss can be beaten by brute force, even with just the X-Buster.

I recommend making changes to the controls, such as moving the Special Weapon from :triangle: to :circle: and perhaps the Dash to :r1:. If you like dash where it is, then move Special Weapon to :square:, because :triangle: is just awkward to reach.

Beating this mode will put you into the credits. Refer to Defrag Complete (B). Hard mode and Practice mode are also unlocked. Finally, a new track in the music player will unlock. Refer to They've Hacked Our Comms (B).

The trophy will pop after the credits when you get to the Total Score screen.

View 20 images across all four titles, then change the wallpaper to the secret image.

After beating a game a secret image is unlocked. Open the gallery and quickly cycle through each image for each game, viewing at least 20 each. Then launch one of the games to view the secret image and set it as new wallpaper. The wallpaper is what displays on either side of the 4:3 window when playing one of the four X games. This is done in a game by pressing :touchpad: and selecting Wallpaper. You should have Special 1 or Special 2 to select in addition to the normal options.

If the Wallpaper was already set before looking through the gallery, just change it to another wallpaper and back to the special wallpaper and the trophy will pop.

Listen to 10 tracks for long enough with the Music Player, and then listen to the secret track.

In order to unlock this trophy, you first need to complete X Challenge at least once, even if it's on easy mode. The bonus track, “Give it a Shot (Extended)” will unlock once X Challenge is completed.

Go to the Museum from the main menu and select the Music Player. Then, press :r1: until you get to the last group of music, consisting of tracks from the Legacy Collection itself. Select the track X4-Boss and just let it run until you get to the end of the playlist. This will play 10 tracks plus the eleventh bonus track.

Once the bonus track starts playing, the trophy will pop.

Note that your Dual Shock might power off and the music will stop. If that happens, just turn it back on and continue the playlist.

Blast through the mystery of the staff credits and return to the future.

You have to destroy a bunch of text with X as the credits roll. Fortunately, you don’t have to destroy everything, and even missing text you’ll unlock the bonus half way. Use :square: to either shoot or charge the X-Buster or :triangle: to use the Z-Saber. You should be able to do everything standing to the side and using the X-Buster.

Focus on shooting the Mavericks foremost. The more you destroy, you’ll hear item collect sound effects the further you go. Once you destroy enough, you’ll see a music note icon appear in the bottom left.

Once the music icon appears in the lower left, put the controller down and let the credits end.

At the end of the credits, the song RE:FUTURE will play and a few more credits will roll. Once the credits end you’ll get a bonus image and the trophy will pop.

Couple things:

- On The Exquisite Art, Hadangeki and Gokumonken should be switched.

- For Armor of Light, you can get both Ultimate Armor and Black Zero in one playthrough. Just get one of them, then game over and return to stage select. Play with the stage with the other character, and there you go.

- To unlock White Axl normally, I believe he too needs 100%.

this game is not 5 imo, it's more like 6-7. it is harder than first set.

Platinum time can be varied due to RNG but if you are not efficient player or new player, it will not be 25 hours. I am long time fan and clocked in 40 hours. Just X8 alone if not use grind metal method that leave overnight (but it should be count as game time anyway) consume many time if do it legit and some game require multiple playthrough. some game must be carefully playthrough like X7.

For the guide, I think more info on Rescue all reploid in X7 should be included in each stage like video guide for full playthrough of that stage while rescue reploid because this is one of the most frustrated trophy in this set. some is not easy to find or rescue.

Such as, in Flame Hyena stage. On timebomb one if you stuck you can dash away and have bomb detonated but your reploid despawn so he didn't get hit by bomb. etc.

or you should die after get certain number of reploid to have the game save your progress. if you do mistake you don't have to rescue them again. etc.

EDIT: Oops, it's coming soon.

X8 cutman should tip that you may use Zero and his glaive and press triangle while in the air and spin it like crazy. you should be able to top rank all of it with not much trouble.

Thanks for pointing that out.

Doing this guide has been interesting to say the least. There is so much more to document than one would think in Mega Man :p

I added the video you made for You're Quick, Man. But as stated in the forumns the Enigma trick doesn't always work, for some reason... I'm not sure about that.

I started work on a Reploid guide. I have to fill in a bunch of the details before it's finished. I'm missing some screen grabs I have to go back for. It's gonna take me a while longer, especially since I am going to be very busy this week, but I will post it at SOME point.

I'll try to post it this weekend if I can.

The Cutman tip is the same for the Metal Generator which I mentioned elsewhere, so I copied that over.

Great work again.

For X6 I would suggest using Black Zero over Ultimate Armor X. He breaks the game to the point where it becomes somewhat more bearable and can nullify some obnoxious zones like the beginning of Gates first stage. Also he can skip chunks of Gates second stage, like the totem pole part.

The path I took on that play through was Laser Institute (Shield Sheldon) went the second path and immediately unlocked Zero then started the weakness train with Commander Yammark.

Also getting max rank helps greatly since it lets you have all 5 parts open, 8 (Shock Buffer, Shot Eraser, and Z-Saber plus) if you use Black Zero as he has those 3 hidden parts that are always equipped. I went into the end with Speedster (Central Museum), Jumper (Northpole Area), D-Barrier (Laser Instuite), Hyper Dash (Inami Temple)/Master Saber (Weapon Center), and Life Recover (Amazon Area) and it made Gates Castle much easier and more tolerable. Also saving most of the reploids tend to be easier for Zero too.

Max Rank, UH, which requires 9999 souls, takes about 20-30 minutes to hit. Go to the Weapon Center (Infinity Mijinion) and head to the second area to fight Dynamo. When fighting him hit him once with Meteor Rain/Ensuizan (Rainy Turtloid) then shoot him with an uncharged X-Buster or Z-Buster while he’s in the stun animation and he’ll drop a green soul that’s worth 200. You can do this 3 times for 600 souls before you have to kill him and repeat the stage. Each run should only take between 1-2 minutes. It’ll go fast and it’s greatly beneficial.

I have heard before that the Japanese version has lower boss levels. Just tried it myself. It's absolutely true. Fighting Gungaroo first, it took me half as many hits to kill him on Japanese than on English. The only problem, then, would be reading menus.

I also remembered a little fact in X8. The Nova Strike does damage based on how much weapon energy X has. I don't think I bought any in my video, and Nova Strike did 50% a boss life bar. But with all weapon energy upgrades, Nova Strike leaves a boss with 1 health left.

That's in X Challenge volume 2.

The Dynamo summon is easy to deal with. His body doesn't even have an actual hitbox at that point. Just stand right on top of him and you're safe. Plus, there's no pits to dodge while fighting Gate. I personally think volume 1's final fight was harder.

oh yeah. duh. never mind
