100% Completion Supplement Guide

Complete GTA III Wiki

lmuocGH.gif

Grand Theft Auto III is the third installment of the highly popular Grand Theft Auto series. It was developed and published by Rockstar and originally released on the Playstation 2 in 2001. The game takes place in the fictional Liberty City, which loosely resembles New York City. You play as Claude, and must work with various gangs throughout Liberty City to exact revenge on the people who betrayed you.

In regards to trophies you will need to complete the game to 100%. This involves completing all main and side missions, as well as collecting all collectables. The majority of the trophies relate to completing various components of the 100%, so the majority of them will unlock as you do this. The 100% is missable, so please refer to the Note on missable trophies below before you start the game. Cheats do not disable trophies so feel free to use them, there is a small exception to this, so please read the Note on cheats below for additional information.

Note on cheats

Firstly, cheats do not disable trophies! However, there is are two important aspects when it comes to using cheats. Firstly, using the money cheat will lower your Criminal Rating score. If you spam the money cheat and use it a considerable number of times you will not be able to raise your Criminal Rating to a score of 5,000 which is required for the Like a Boss trophy. Thus there is a chance you can miss this trophy. Secondly, if you have the Perfect Car Handling Cheat activated you may not be able to earn the Wreckless Driving trophy. As such, make sure it is off when you are going for this trophy.

My suggestion when it comes to the use of cheats is to use as many of them as you like, and as frequent as you like, except the money cheat. A list of the most useful cheats in the game can be found HERE.

Note on missable trophies

Obtaining 100% in game completion for the Is That All You've Got? is missable. This is due to that fact that certain story missions become unavailable if you progress missions with other characters too far. There are only two instances where this is applicable and they are described in the below points.

Portland

  • Complete all of Joey’s and Luigi's missions before you complete Salvatore's missions. Once you complete “Last Requests” for Salvatore you will be locked out of completing any remaining missions for Joey and Luigi.

Staunton Island

  • Complete all of Kenji’s and Asuka's missions before you complete Donald Love's missions. Once you complete “Waka-Gashira Wipeout” for Donald Love you will be locked out of completing any remaining missions for Kenji and Asuka.

Note on glitches

There is potential for one of two known gamebreaking glitches to occur. Firstly, if you have too many tanks spawned in the game via the use of cheats, your save file may get corrupted. As such, it is best to only ever have one tank in the game. Unless the tank is destroyed, it will never move from the last location you left it. The second glitch involves a Pay-Phone mission in Shoreside Vale where Purple Nines Gang members do not spawn making the mission impossible to complete. For more information on this glitch, please read the the FAQ HERE.

The below walkthrough is a guide on how I approached the platinum. I found it best to complete the main story first and then go back through each island to complete the remaining requirements of the 100%.

Step 1 - Complete level 12 Paramedic mission in Portland

I suggest you get this out of the way as soon as possible as it can become increasingly harder to obtain at later stages of the game. If you complete straight away you will avoid having to worry about enemy gangs shooting at you and destroying your Ambulance. For the same reasons, I suggest collecting all hidden packages in Portland during this step.

At the end of this step you will have unlocked the following trophies:

(B)First Day on the Job

(S)Playing Doctor

Step 2 - Complete the story without missing any main missions

For this step focus on completing all of the main story missions in the game. I suggest you read the note on missable trophies above as there are a number of missions which can be missed if you progress certain character's mission lines before completing other ones beforehand. You will also complete all of the Pay-Phone missions (17 total) which are represented by the telephone icon on the map.

Completing all the story missions will grant you access to all three islands / areas of the game allowing you to obtain all collectibles and work towards the 100%. I suggest avoiding picking up hidden packages during this step as you may forget which ones you have collected when it comes to Step 3. If you do collect some, just keep note of which ones they are, i.e. which island and their approximate location.

Feel free to use cheats during the missions, as they won't affect the outcome in any way. The reduce wanted level, weapons and full health and armor cheats prove to be the most useful. However, most missions are straightforward and there isn't much of a need to use them. Just remember there are no checkpoints in missions, if you fail or die you will have to return to the starting point of the mission and start again.

At the end of this step you will have unlocked the following trophies:

(B)Disposing of the Evidence

(S)A Marked Man

(S)Offshore Delivery

(G)Not So Fast

(S)A Gift From the King

Step 3 - Collectibles and obtaining 100% in game completion

This will likely be the most time consuming step of the walkthrough. There is quite a lot that you need to accomplish in order to obtain 100% in game completion. If you successfully completed all story missions, then you will be thankful to know that nothing else is missable so feel free to approach the remaining requirements in the order you wish. The only suggestion I will make is that you track everything that you complete and tick them off as you go, as you don't want to get to the end and realize you have missed something. I have created a complete supplement guide for obtaining the 100% completion. It details all requirements and how to go about obtaining them. A link to this guide is provided above.

At the end of this step you will have unlocked the following trophies:

(B)Wreckless Driving

(S)Wheels Up

(S)Where we’re going, we don’t need roads

(S)Where To?

(S)Blood in the Streets

(G)Play Fetch

(S)Pest Control

(S)Man Toyz

(B)Splish Splash

(B)Going Rogue

(B)Dirty Money

(G)Liberty City Secrets

(G)Is That All You’ve Got? (missable)

Step 4 - Miscellaneous trophy clean up

Now is the time to clean up any outstanding trophies. Some of these you may have already unlocked in previous steps, and in saying that, they can all be obtained at any point in the game. However, if following the provided walkthrough you may not have them yet. The requirements of these trophies are not required for the 100% completion detailed in Step 3 above, but are obviously required for the platinum trophy. The majority of the trophies may unlock naturally as they are predominately related to just playing the game.

At the end of this step you will have unlocked the following trophies:

(B)Hunting Season

(B)Repeat Offender

(B)Street Sweeper

(S)Population Control

(B)If You Ain’t Cheatin’, You Ain’t Tryin’

(B)By a Mile

(S)Right-hand Man

(G)Like a Boss

(P)King of Liberty City

Unlock all trophies.

Once you have unlocked all other trophies in the game the platinum will be yours. Congratulations :applause:

c57.jpg  First Day on the Job (B)(H):tagstory:

Complete "Luigi's Girls".

Story related, cannot be missed.

[spoiler=bis]‘Luigi’s Girls’ is the first mission given to you by Luigi Goterelli and is the second mission of the game. You will need to go and pick up Misty in a car and then bring her back to Luigi’s place. Once you drop her off and the mission is completed, the trophy will unlock.

202.jpg  Hunting Season (B)

Destroy five helicopters.

Helicopters are non-driveable vehicles in the game that come in two variants. The first is the police helicopter which you will see once you obtain a three star wanted level, and the other is the normal helicopter which is seen in some of the later missions in the game. Helicopters can easily be shot down and destroyed with the use of a rocket launcher. If you wish you can use cheats to obtain the rocket launcher as well as to increase your wanted level. Alternatively it can be purchased from Phil’s armoury in Staunton Island later in the game for $25,000.

The easiest way to obtain this trophy is to first obtain a three star wanted level by killing people, cops and blowing up cars. You will want to be somewhere away from the main roads so you don’t have to worry about police cars running you over and you can focus on shooting down the police chopper. I found the sawmill location in Portland near the bridge to be the best as you have to climb a fence to get inside. As such, no cops will be able to get to you or be able to shoot you so you are free to focus on the choppers. There will likely only be one police helicopter at a time, and once it has been shot down another one will appear. Simple repeat this five times for the trophy. You don't need to destroy all five in one go, but they do need to be on the one save file.

The below video shows the above mentioned location and method of how to obtain this trophy fairly easily.

0d3.jpg  Disposing of the Evidence (B):tagstory:

Crush a car at the junkyard.

Story related, cannot be missed.

[spoiler=dd]You will first be introduced to the car crusher at the junkyard in Portland during the ‘Dead Skunk in the Trunk’ mission given to you by Joey Leone. This mission will involve you picking up a car that has a body inside and then taking it to the car crusher in the northern area of Portland. Once you park the car in the designated location, exit the vehicle and wait until the crane picks the car up and crushes the vehicle. Once the crane crushes the vehicle the mission will be completed and the trophy will unlock.

You can unlock this trophy from the very beginning of the game, before completing the above mission in the spoiler. Simply grab any vehicle and drive it to the junkyard which is at the northern area of Portland. Park in the area next to the crusher and exit the vehicle. Once the crane picks the vehicle up and drops it in the crusher the trophy will unlock.

The below video shows the location of the junkyard and the car crusher in Portland, as well as how to unlock this trophy.

d33.jpg  Repeat Offender (B)

Get busted 20 times.

In order to get busted you must break the law and then get caught by the cops and be arrested. You must first attain a wanted level (indicated by the stars in the top right corner of the screen). This is easily achieved by killing someone in front of a cop or trying to steal a car in front of a cop. Once you have obtained a one star wanted level, wait for the cops to arrest you. This is most easiest done when you are inside a vehicle as they will put you out and arrest you straight away. If you are standing / on foot, they will keep beating you up or shooting you until you are dead / wasted, and thus you will not get the ‘busted’ screen.

It’s best to grind this trophy early in the game as each time you are arrested you lose all your weapons (that is if you aren’t using cheats to quickly regain them). If you are using cheats, then simply enter the ‘increase wanted level’ cheat and wait to be arrested. This will automatically give you a two star wanted level. Each time you are busted you will restart at the closest cop station. In Portland, the cop station is located in the Portland View area. Follow the below steps to quickly grind 20 police busts.

  • Get arrested for the first time so you end up at the police station.
  • Wait outside the police station and a cop car should drive past, and then try and steal it. This will give you a one star wanted level.
  • The cop will hop out of the car and arrest you, giving you the ‘busted’ screen.
  • Rinse and repeat until you the trophy unlocks.

The below video shows this method and how to quickly obtain the trophy.

538.jpg  Street Sweeper (B)

Waste 100 gang members.

This trophy will unlock naturally as you progress through the game completing main story missions as well as side mission. There is no need to focus on killing gang members as you will likely earn this trophy once you unlock the second island / area of the game. You can track your progress by pressing :touchpad: and navigating to Stats > Gang members wasted.

f24.jpg  Population Control (S)

Waste 1,000 people.

As with the Street Sweeper trophy this one will most likely unlock naturally as you progress through the game completing missions and working towards 100% completing. You can track your progress by pressing :touchpad: and navigating to Stats > Total people wasted.

8d4.jpg  If You Ain't Cheatin', You Ain't Tryin' (B)

Blow up 2,000 cars.

This trophy will unlikely come naturally as you progress through the game. However, there are multiple ways in which you can reach the required number in a short period of time. Each of these methods are described below. You can track your progress towards the trophy by pressing :touchpad: and navigating to Stats > Cars exploded.

Method 1:

Acquire the tank from Phil’s Armoury in Staunton Island (or by using cheats to immediately spawn a tank) and continually drive around squashing every car you come across. This will increase your wanted level quite quickly. This actually helps the situation as cop cars and FBI vehicles will drive straight into you, blowing themselves up. Just be sure not to get arrested and periodically return to your safehouse to save your game as this will in turn save your progress towards the trophy.

Method 2:

Acquire a fire truck and start the Fire Truck missions by pressing :r3:. Once the first blip appears on the minimap, press :r3: again to end the mission. This will cause the car to explode. Simply repeat this process until you have earned the desired number of car explosions.

Method 3:

Exploding car cheat. This cheat causes all cars in close proximity to explode. Just keep spamming the cheat until the trophy unlocks. Even exploded cars around you will continue to explode each time you enter the cheat, so you don’t need to keep searching for new cars. This is by far the quickest method and the use of this cheat will not impact your progression towards any trophies, and will not lock you out of obtaining any trophies. The cheat to explode all vehicles is as follows:

:l2: :r2: :l1: :r1: :l2: :r2: :triangle: :square: :circle: :triangle: :l2: :l1:

(L2, R2, L1, R1, L2, R2, Triangle, Square, Circle, Triangle, L2, L1)

Complete the "Turismo" race in under 180 seconds.

“Turismo” is the first Pay-Phone mission given to you by El Burro in the Portland island of the game. Pay-Phone missions are represented by the telephone icon on the minimap. This mission requires you to compete in a street race with three other drivers. You need to race through the checkpoints marked on your minimap and win the race in order to complete the mission. Once you complete all pay-phone missions for El Burro you can replay the “Turismo” mission again at the same pay-phone.

In order to unlock this trophy, you need to complete the race in under 180 seconds. You have a timer in the top right corner of the screen. You will need a fast car in order to get the required time. I used the Banshee which you can steal from the car shop at the northern area of Portland in Saint Marks. Otherwise a Sentinel should do the job as well. Try and get out in front of the other drivers as early as you can as they drive very recklessly and can quickly knock you off the road. If you are using cheats, then you can use the Health cheat to fix your car. Once you finish the race within the required time, the mission will complete and the trophy will unlock. If you feel as if you aren’t going to complete the race in under 180 seconds, then purposefully fail the mission by exiting your car.

The below video shows how to complete the race in under 180 seconds.

3cb.jpg  Wreckless Driving (B)

Perform a perfect insane stunt.

Note: Ensure you do not have the Perfect Car Handling cheat activated when going for this trophy.

An insane stunt involves getting airborne whilst driving a vehicle. It doesn’t necessarily have to be off a jump, or even a unique jump, you can get air whilst driving off an elevated road, or hitting a ledge at speed. You will most likely unlock this trophy without even focusing on it, or most certainly whilst you complete the 20 unique jumps for the Wheels Up trophy.

The below video shows how I unlocked the trophy which was completely random whilst driving through the streets of Portland in an Ambulance.

7c0.jpg  Wheels Up (S)

Complete 20 unique jumps.

Unique jumps are jumps which require you to launch off a ramp or inclined surface and then successfully land on the ground without crashing. You usually need to be travelling at a high speed in order to jump a certain distance for the jump to be counted as being successful. Each jump has a predefined starting point and there is usually plenty of room for a runup to gain enough speed.

There are a total of 20 unique jumps in the game, spread over the three islands / area, which you must successfully complete to unlock this trophy as well for obtaining 100% completion. There are 8 in Portland, 4 in Staunton Island and 8 in Shoreside Vale. Please refer to the 100% in game completion supplementary guide for a full screenshot, text and video walkthrough. The guide can be found HERE. The total number of completed unique jumps can be tracked by pressing :touchpad: and navigating to Stats > Unique jumps completed.

61c.jpg  Where we're going, we don't need roads (S)

Complete "Patriot Playground", "A Ride in the Park", "Multi-Story Mayhem", and "Gripped!" missions.

The listed missions are off-road vehicle side missions that require you to pass through a certain number of checkpoints within a designated time period. There are a total of four off-road missions you need to complete in the game to unlock the trophy, as well as for obtaining 100% completion. These missions can be extremely frustrating as the vehicles you drive and the terrain you must traverse makes you very prone to rolling your car. If at any point you exit the vehicle, or it is destroyed you will fail the mission. A complete walkthrough, include text description and videos can be found below, as well as in the 100% in game completion supplementary guide, found HERE.

”Patriot Playground” -

This off-road mission can be started by entering the Patriot parked in the Supa Save parking lot in Portland View, Portland. You will need to travel through 15 checkpoints across the cliff face on the eastern side of the island. Each checkpoint you pass through will reward you with an additional 15 seconds to your time limit. Follow the route which I take in the below video, and be sure to drive slow as the Patriot can slide a lot when travelling as a high speed. I found it best to attempt this mission during the day as it is much brighter and you can see the terrain a lot clearer.

”A Ride in the Park” -

This off-road mission is started by entering the Landstalker located next to the barn in Belleville Park in Staunton Island. You will need to travel through 12 checkpoints throughout the park. Each checkpoint will reward you with 10 seconds to your time limit. Follow the route which I take in the below video, and be sure to be quick to get the first few checkpoints so you can build up some time as the start can be quite difficult. Each checkpoint is represented on the minimap by a pink blip.

”Multi-Story Mayhem” -

This mission is started by entering a Stallion out the front of the Newport Multistory Car Park in Staunton Island. The car park is located two blocks east of your safehouse (location of the car park is provided in the below video). There is a stallion parked on the ground floor, simply enter it drive outside the car park, exit the vehicle and then re-enter to start the mission. There are 20 checkpoints spread out throughout all floors of the car park. You will start with 00:20 time limit and each checkpoint you pick up will give you an addition 00:05 to your time. Don’t drive too fast as it is easy to smash into poles and damage your car. Just follow the route in the video below and you shouldn’t have any problems.

”Gripped!” -

This mission is started by entering the Patriot located in the car park on the eastern side of Shoreside Vale. This is by far the hardest of the four off road vehicle missions. The terrain you must traverse is very steep and difficult to navigate. However, the further you progress the easier it becomes, so persevere for the beginning sections and you should be fine. They key is to go as slow as you can and use the handbrake to slow down. There are 20 checkpoints spread across the area and you must collect them all. Each one is represented by a blip on your minimap. You will earn an additional 00:15 seconds to your time for each checkpoint you pick up. Follow the path in the below video for the most efficient route.

030.jpg  Where To? (S)

Complete 100 taxi fares.

Taxi fares are side missions where you have a job as a taxi driver and must pick customers up and drop them off at their destination within the given time limit. To start a taxi fare you must first steal a taxi. Once inside press :r3: to start the missions. Drive around until you see a passenger, which is represented by a green dot on your minimap. Their destination will then appear as a yellow blip on the minimap. Simply drive them to their location within the time limit to complete the fare. You will need to complete 100 total taxi fares, however, they do not need to be consecutive within the one taxi. As long as you accumulate 100 total taxi fares across your save file then you will unlock the trophy. If your taxi is destroyed or you press :r3: or if you exit the vehicle the taxi missions will end.

Taxi fares are a great way to earn cash if you don’t wish to use cheats. After completing all 100 taxi fares in one go I earnt a total of $495,000. You can track your progress towards this trophy by pressing :touchpad: and then navigating to Stats > passengers dropped off. Once you reach 100 the trophy will unlock.

603.jpg  Blood in the Streets (S)

Pass all 20 Rampages.

Rampages are timed side missions that involve you having to kill a certain number of gang members or vehicles with the use of a specific weapon. For each rampage you have a total of 2 minutes to meet the requirement. In total there are 20 Rampages that need to be completed for the 100%, as well as to unlock this trophy. Each rampage is represented by a small floating skull icon. Upon walking into it, the Rampage will start. You can track the number of Rampages you have completed by pressing :touchpad: and navigating to Stats > Rampages completed.

The hardest part when it comes to Rampages is finding enough gang members to kill within the given time period. As such, it is best to always keep moving and not wait for gang members to come to you. Looking behind you by pressing :r3: can help with spawning more people in front of you.

If you fail a Rampage, the starting location moves to a second location and then if you fail it again it will move back to the first location. Please refer to the supplement guide on how to obtain 100% completion. This guide provides detailed information on the location and requirement for all Rampages. It can be found HERE.

ed4.jpg  Play Fetch (G)

Complete the Portland Docks and Shoreside Vale import/export car lists.

The Portland Docks and Shoreside Vale import / export car lists require you to find certain cars in the game and deposit them within the designated garages. Each list has sixteen (16) cars, with a total of 32 that need to be found in order to complete both lists and unlock the trophy. Most cars in the game are fairly common, with a few exceptions. However, each vehicle that you need to find have certain locations in the game where their spawn rate is more frequent which makes finding them a whole lot easier. Once you find a car you will need to park it inside the corresponding garage. The list of cars required is on display outside each garage and once a car has been delivered it will be crossed off the list.

The below map shows the location of the two import garages at Portland Docks and Shoreside Vale. It is best to wait until the end of the game to complete the list as you will need access to all three islands in order to find some of the cars. Completing both lists is required for 100% completion. Please refer to my supplement guide on how to obtain 100% completion for the game, as well as for the full list of cars, including pictures and tips on where to find each one. The guide can be found HERE.

Extinguish 20 fires during a single Fire Truck mission.

Fire Truck missions are side missions that involve you driving around the city putting out burning cars with the use of the mounted fire hose on the fire truck. In order to start these mission you must first steal a Fire Truck. In Portland you can always find one at the Fire station which is located Harwood area, near the junkyard. Once inside the Fire Truck, press :r3: to start the missions.

Once they have started, drive to the blip displayed on the minimap and use :circle: and the :r2: to direct the water hose at the fire. Once the fire has been extinguished, the next location will appear on the minimap. The Fire Truck is a very difficult vehicle to manoeuvre and control. I highly recommend you use the handbrake to slow down as opposed to reverse, as this will result in less sliding. During the Fire Truck missions, the number of fires you have extinguished is displayed in the top right of the screen. Each fire you put out will reward you with a small time bonus. Once you reach 20 fires within a single mission the trophy will unlock. If at any point you exit the Fire Truck, run out of time, or you blow up the Fire Truck, the mission will fail and you will have to restart.

The below video shows the location of the Fire Truck in Portland and how to unlock the trophy.

0c5.jpg  Playing Doctor (S)

Complete Paramedic level 12.

The Paramedic side mission involves picking up patients in the Ambulance and dropping them off at the hospital within the time limit. To start the Paramedic missions you need to steal an Ambulance and then press :r3: to start them. These missions can be completed in any of the three islands.

In total there are 12 levels of the Paramedic missions you must complete in a single attempt. Each level gets progressively harder with more patients that require picking up. You are awarded a short amount of time each time you pick a patient up, as well as additional time for the first drop off at the hospital for each level. Below is a list of tips which will help you obtain this trophy as it can prove to be quite difficult.

  • The Ambulance can hold a maximum of three passengers at one time. So use this to your advantage in the higher levels.
  • The Ambulance takes damage if you drive recklessly, and if destroyed you will fail the mission.
  • Use :r1: to brake and not :square: as you are less likely to lose control and roll the ambulance.
  • Try and stop the Ambulance as close as possible to each patient to reduce the time it takes for them to get inside. You can save a few seconds each time if done correctly.
  • Group your pickups of patients together to avoid unnecessary backtracking. At the start of each level I pick up the closest three patients whilst keeping an eye on the location of the remaining patients. This allows you to plan your routes and pick ups which will save a lot of time.

Below are a list of strategies and locations in which you can unlock this trophy. By far the easiest is the use cheats, but feel free to use whichever method works best for you.

Strategy 1: Portland

Complete the Paramedic missions at the very beginning of the game in the first island, Portland. This island is the easiest to navigate with numerous shortcuts through street blocks around the hospital. If completed early in the game you won't have to worry about getting shot by enemy gangs which will damage and destroy your ambulance.

The downside to this island is the small amount of time you will receive after dropping patients off at the hospital. It will range between 00:05 and 00:30 seconds. As such, planning your patient pick ups is crucial so you don't waste any time.

Strategy 2: Staunton Island

This island is a fair bit bigger than Portland, but it is a lot flatter with straighter roads. The hospital is located at the southern end of the island near the construction site and stadium. You will always be shot at by the Cartel near the hospital from when you first arrive on the island. This can prove to be problematic as they can quickly damage your Ambulance. The point at which you have to drop off the patients can be tricky to get to as well. I found driving down the stairs from the road the quickest route, but you can easily damage the Ambulance doing it this way.

The plus side about this island is the amount of time you are awarded for each patient pick up. This usually ranges from 00:45 seconds to 01:30 seconds. Pick up all the closest passengers first to net yourself around 03:00 to 04:00 minutes which makes the remainder of the level quite easy, you will just need to focus on not destroying the Ambulance.

Strategy 3: Cheats

There are a number of cheats you can use which makes this trophy extremely easy regardless of what island you wish to do it in. Using the health cheat will repair the ambulance to full health. This is really helpful as the handling can be woeful at the best of times are bound to destroy the ambulance before you even reach level 12. The car handling cheat is by far the most useful, it prevents your car from toppling over and allows you to take any corner at full speed without worrying about losing control and crashing. The slow down time cheat is also useful as it will help you to avoid collisions with other vehicles. The below video shows a walkthrough of level 12 with the handling cheat activated. This gives you an idea of how the cheat works and how much easier it makes this trophy.

c6c.jpg  Going Rogue (B)

Kill 20 criminals during one Vigilante mission.

Vigilante missions involve tracking down criminals that are driving around the city and killing them. The mission can only be triggered when inside a law enforcement vehicle, such as a cop car, by pressing :r3:. You will then have a time limit to track down the criminal represented by the blip on the minimap and kill them. You can either ram them until they flee their vehicle or you can perform a drive-by with a sub-machine gun to destroy their vehicle.

Unlike the Ambulance missions there aren’t any levels associated with the Vigilante missions. Once you kill the criminal on the minimap another one will appear. They don’t get any harder besides sometimes being in a bigger car, such as a Patriot. The biggest challenge is not getting your vehicle destroyed. Remember that you need to kill 20 criminals in a single vigilante mission in all three islands for the 100% completion trophy.

Below is a list of different methods to unlock this trophy, feel free to use whichever one works best for you.

Method 1: Cop car

The hardest method to obtain this trophy is to use a cop car. You can either ram or shoot the criminal vehicles to destroy them. This can take quite some time and you are likely to run out of time, or destroy your own vehicle in the process. This can be made easier with the use of the health cheat which will completely restore your car health. The weapon cheat will give you more ammunition for your sub-machine gun as well.

Method 2: Tank

The tank can be acquired either through cheats or from Phil’s armoury in Staunton Island. All you need to do is blow the criminals car up either by shooting it or driving over it. The tank can be quite slow so you are likely to run out of time.

Method 3: Pause exploit

By far the easiest of the three methods, this one uses an exploit to make killing each criminal a lot easier. When you get close to the criminals vehicle, simply press the :touchpad: to pause the game and once you continue the criminal will stop and then exit his vehicle. At this point run over him in your car to kill him.

The below video shows a walkthrough of the trophy using the third method listed above.

b0b.jpg  Dirty Money (B)

Amass a fortune of $1,000,000.

This trophy is pretty much story related as you will unlock it through natural progression of the story missions. You are rewarded with a lot of money after completing missions, and with little to spend your money on you will accumulate a lot very quickly. You will also be rewarded $1,000,000 for collecting all 100 hidden packages. In order to unlock the trophy you need to have at least $1,000,000 in your possession at one time. Your current money level is displayed at the top of the screen.

Note: Avoid using the money cheat as if it is used too many times it will prevent your criminal rating level from increasing which can lock you out of getting the platinum trophy.

c6a.jpg  Right-hand Man (S)

Earn a criminal rating of 2,500.

Refer to the Like a Boss trophy description below.

443.jpg  Like a Boss (G)

Earn a criminal rating of 5,000 or higher.

Your criminal rating reflects how much destruction you cause throughout the game. This includes breaking laws, killing people and blowing stuff up. Just by working toward the 100% completion you will most probably unlock this trophy towards the end, as most activities you do, including missions, will increase your criminal rating.

You can view your current criminal rating by pressing :touchpad: and navigating to the Stats menu. It will then be displayed at the top of the screen. It's worth noting that using the money cheat will increase your criminal rating up to certain point. If you spam the cheat and use it to much, your criminal rating will stop increasing and you will essentially be locked out of the trophy. Once you reach over 4000 it is safe to use the money cheat. However, it is best to just avoid using it all together.

8e5.jpg  Liberty City Secrets (G)

Collect 100 hidden packages.

Hidden packages are the only form of collectibles that you will need to collect for the 100%. In total there are 100 spread out across the game. The majority are hard to find and you will unlikely find them all without the use of a guide. In order to collect them, simply walk into them and you will pick it up. Your progress is saved automatically upon collecting each hidden package, so even if you die immediately after you won’t need to backtrack to recollect them.

For every 10 hidden packages you collect, you will unlock a weapon that becomes permanently available at each of your safehouses. It is best to wait until you have unlocked all three islands before collecting the hidden packages and not pick them up as you find them as they are not tracked on the map so it is easy to forget which ones you have collected. For a complete text and image guide of where to find all 100 hidden packages, please refer to my supplement guide. It can be found HERE.

eb7.jpg  Is That All You've Got? (G):tagmissable:

Achieve 100% completion.

Note: This trophy is missable and potentially glitched. Please refer to the Note on missable trophies in the opening post of this guide. In regards to the glitch, one of the Pay_phone missions for D-Ice in Shoreside Vale can be glitched, which makes one of the missions impossible to complete. Make sure you always have a backup save. For more information on the glitch, please refer to the 'Note on glitches' in the opening post.

In order to achieve 100% completion in the game you must complete all main and side missions as well as collect all collectibles. You can track your overall completion percentage by pressing :touchpad: and navigating to Stats > Completion percentage. Deliver all emergency vehicles to the crane at the Portland Docks.

In the Portland Docks area of Portland, there is a crane in which you need to deliver one of each type of emergency vehicle. This is similar to the import / export garage. The crane is located to the west of the import/ export garage and you must park each required vehicle on the yellow striped area.

In total there are seven (7) vehicles that need to be delivered. As the Rhino is one of the vehicles you can only complete the list once you have completed the game and have access to Phil’s Army Surplus. For full text and image walkthrough on to obtain all required vehicles, please refer to the 100% supplement guide found HERE.

939.jpg  A Marked Man (S)(H):tagstory:

Complete "Last Requests".

Story related, cannot be missed.

[spoiler=gtp]“Last Requests” is the final mission from the Portland area of the game. It is given to you by Salvatore Leone. He will ask you to go and pick up a car that needs to be taken to the junkyard and crushed. Along the way Maria will page you asking you to go and meet her straight away as the car is a trap and the Mafia have plans to give you to the Cartel. Travel to Maria’s location and you will get a boat with her and her friend Asuka to the second island of the game, Staunton island. Once you drive the boat to the marker the mission will end and the trophy will unlock.

ce3.jpg  Offshore Delivery (S)(H):tagstory:

Complete "A Drop in the Ocean".

Story related, cannot be missed.

[spoiler=dvg]This is the third mission given to you by Donald Love in Staunton Island. The mission will require you to drive to the boat on the edge of Portland to south of the bridge. The plane flying overhead indicated by the yellow blip on the radar will drop six packages into the water. Pick all of them up and then head back to Donald Loves building. You will have a five star wanted level at this point so do whatever it takes to avoid being killed by the police. I went straight to Asuka's place and stole a Yakuza Stinger and outran the cops. Alternatively you can use the cheat code to lose your wanted level. Once you return to Donald Love the mission will end the trophy will unlock.

056.jpg  Not So Fast (G)(H):tagstory:

Complete "The Exchange".

Story related, cannot be missed.

[spoiler=gut]”The Exchange” is the final story mission in Grand Theft Auto III. Catalina has kidnapped Maria and you must travel to her mansion in Shoreside Vale and hunt her down whilst killing a lot of Cartel gang members. Catalina will flee the mansion in a helicopter and you must pursue her as she makes her way to the dam. Once at the dam there will be a lot of enemies. Try and kill them from a distance with the sniper rifle. Once you get close to the marker she will get back in the helicopter and do circle around the dam. Simply shoot her down with a rocket launcher and then go and speak to Maria at the dam. At this point the missions will end and the credits will roll. Once the credits finish playing the trophy will unlock.

e7a.jpg  A Gift from the King (S)(H):tagstory:

Complete the "Kingdom Come" mission.

Story related, cannot be missed.

“Kingdom Come” is a pay-phone mission given you by King Courtney in Staunton Island. He gives you four missions and this is the final mission. The location of the missions is represented by an icon on the map. King Courtney's missions will become available once you have unlocked Staunton Island.

[spoiler=tuy]For this mission you must retrieve a car for King Courtney. You have 01:30 to reach the car or else you will fail the mission. Once you get inside the car all entries to the car park will be blocked by vans. You will need to destroy all four of them, which are also marked on the map, in order to complete the mission. There will be suicide bombers that run up to you and try to kill you. They will only stop once you have destroyed the vans. This mission is easiest to complete later in the game when you have access to Phil’s Army Surplus as you can bring a tank (Rhino) and then just blow up each of the four vans. Alternatively, if you wish to do so you can use cheats and then pull out the rocket launcher and blow the vans up. Once the mission has been completed the trophy will unlock.

143.jpg  Man Toyz (S)(H)

Complete every RC Toyz mission.

RC Toyz missions are side missions which require you to take control of a remote control car and blow up gang vehicles by detonating bombs when in close proximity. There are a total of four (4) RC Toyz missions that need to be completed to earn this trophy as well as to obtain 100% completion of the game. In order to start the mission, you need to get inside the Toy Van at each of the locations. The below map and list shows the location of each of the four RC missions. In order to complete each mission, you only need to blow up a single gang vehicle within the 02:00 minute time period.

Taogr60.jpg

  • Diablo Destruction - Located in Hepburn Heights, Portland near the train station.
  • Mafia Massacre - Located opposite Momma’s Restaurante in Saint Mark's, Portland.
  • Casino Calamity - Located opposite Kenji’s Casino, Staunton Island
  • Rumpo Rampage - Located right near your safehouse in Shoreside Vale within a short walking distance behind a large sign

The below video provides a walkthrough of each RC mission, including their respective locations in the game.

Thanks for great guide.

100% is missible beacouse of this?

-complete all of Luigi's ( L ) and Joey's ( J ) missions before doing Last Request. If you don't, they will become unavailable, voiding the trophy.

-complete all of Kenji's ( K ) missions before doing Waka Gashira Wipeout mission. If you don't, they will become unavailable, voiding the trophy.

-complete Asuka's ( A ) Two Faced Tanner before doing Donald Love's ( D ) Grand Theft Aero. Asukas's mission becomes unavailable after doing Donald's mission.

------------------------------------------------

Nothing more is missible in this trophy?

If i will do this correctly ) main missions ) nothing more is missible yes??

If i fail any rampage, phone mission, offroad mission or something like that - can i do this again?

--------------------------------

-20 fires cases extinguished in each island, 60 total ( Does not need to be done in a row, but there's a trophy for it )

-20 vigilante missions in each island, 60 total ( Does not need to be done in a row, but there's a trophy for it )

Can i do 20 in Portland for trophy and in next areas do i need to do next 20 on second island in a row and last 20 in third island in a row or not?

Ok I'll try and answer all your questions in one go.

1. No missions are missable besides the ones I mentioned. You can fail any main or side mission and still replay it as many times as required to pass it.

2. When you do the firefighter and vigilante missions for the 100% for the second and third time you don't need to do them all in one go. You can stop and start these missions as you wish.

Think i've hit a wall, game completion stuck on 95% i have done everything there is to do and it sits a 95% I have no idea what would have caused it so i cant share that info, 5% is a big chunk to missing. Missions are at 73/73 so i know i didn't get locked out of any, not sure what else to try or if there is a fix so i am at a loss other than to start again. Playing PAL version i believe.

Great guide by the way very clear and well detailed. ;)

Are you positive everything has been completed on the list? Vigilante and fire fighter missions on all three islands? All three import export lists completed, and you didn't use the tank spawn cheat to get the tank did you?

I've triple checked everything and even made a check list just to make sure everything was completed before i moved onto the next task, only cheat i did use was the explode all cars cheat. 5% is a fairly big chunk to be missing considering most tasks award 1% per completed task, im guessing the game completion tracker got stuck at somepoint and started up again somehow.

One thing i can think of but its just a theory is putting the console on standby without closing the application to resume play where you left of might have played a part in it. I did such thing and i resumed play where i left off and when i went to save my progress i noticed my save file was erased, that is the only possible thing i can think of that may have played a part. I did do an internet search to find anyone else in a similar situation and i did find one guy in the same boat as me but that was years ago, he resolved it by replaying el'burros mission turismo. I tried that myself but to no luck.

I'm guessing that the tank you delivered to the emergency vehicle crane was spawned with a cheat. You need to deliver one that wasn't spawned using a cheat.

Is it possible that you completed a task, even unlocked a trophy for it, but powered off your PS4 without saving? Do all your stats match up as if everything is completed? Number of firefighter, vigilante, taxi, paramedic missions completed? Rampages, stunt jumps, hidden packages etc.?

I had my PS4 freeze on me with about 8 hours progress since my latest save so I was left in a similar situation where I had trophies unlocked for tasks I had completed, but because I hadn't saved, they weren't showing as completed in my stats and weren't being counted towards my 100% completion.

Everything matches up, all missions, tasks, rampages, jumps everything matches up and i have done all the firefighter, ambulance, taxi and vigilante missions twise. All jumps re-completed to the best i can do. Everything matches up. It is possible that i didnt save before stand by so maybe that was it. Going to hit 5000 criminal rating and mop up remaining misc trophies and then start a new with out stand by mode and see if that was it.

Great guide. Thank you for taking the time to post it. As of right now, I had 5 or 6 different tabs open on my laptop as I'm going through for 100%. Nice to see everything here in one guide.

Just a little mistake in your guide, in STEP 3, your spreadsheet HERE link is missing. :)

A few things I would add more details to if you have time:

- Where to find the BF Injection in Hepburn Heights

- Add that BY A MILE trophy is somewhat missable and/or made MUCH harder if you complete the 'Sayonara Salvatore' mission first (since the mafia shotgunners blow you up mid-race)

That said, thank you again for making the guide. Also for taking screenshots of the hidden packages. Looks like I missed 3 in my first playthrough...probably a save/rest mode issue, but running through them a 2nd time with screenshots will make it much faster.

Questions for you:

- Can your criminal rating drop? I could swear as I was going through all Rampage missions, I would lose a bit of rating upon dying. What's the best way to gain CR?

- For Vigilante and Firefighter missions, once you have their respective trophies (20 in one run), you don't have to finish the other 40 on other islands in a row, right?

(example: I completed 20 on Stauton Island for 'Splish Splash' trophy. Now I can take my time and do 20 on Portland on separate runs, right? Having issues on Portland with the mafia shotgunners...)

Okay, firstly I'll answer your two questions.

1. You do not need to do the Vigilante and the Firefighter missions in one go. I kept cancelling the missions if they were too far away and starting new ones. I didn't ever do mkre than 2 or 3 in one run.

2. No your criminal rating cannot drop. This is the last trophy I needes for the plat. At this point my criminal rating was 4500. I then used the money cheat to get to 5000. If you don’t want to do that then just cause mayhem. Hop in a tank and just destroy everything and kill everyone. You should be pretty close by the time you have completed evetything else.

Ill add some more information regarding where you get the BF Injection. It is located about 50 metres North of the Pay Phone in Hepburn Heights in the same car park. If it's not there during thise hours. Drive around the block and come back.

By A Mile isn't missable as you can replay that mission at the Pay Phone unlimited times post game. I agree that the Mafia shot gunners can make it harder though. All I can suggest is doing the mission early in the game or using the health cheat.

Thanks for taking the time for leaving feedback and I hope the guides have been helpful :)
