Complete FFXII Bestiary by area, incl. rare game and spawn conditions

There is a wealth of information for Final Fantasy XII on the Bestiary, but it's quite fragmented. So I've taken information from various sources and made a list of all the enemies you will encounter in Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age.

 

This list includes the rare game, their locations and the spawn conditions, and whether they are part of the Hunt Club

 

I have added the (dry and rainy) spawn conditions to the Giza Plains section and to the 2 Rare Game who also spawn in that region

 

I've omitted the enemy difficulty rating as that would have required a ton more work to figure out.

But I hope this will be useful for you.

Final Fantasy XII BESTIARY

This includes every regular enemy in the game. 
Once a certain number of an enemy has been defeated, 
an extra page will be unlocked in the enemy's entry giving more detailed information. 
78 of these extra entries make up Sage Knowledge, background information on all of Ivalice.

Humanoid entries

These are entries on humanoid enemies the player has defeated. 
Only enemies will count (red dots on minimap) 
Killing one that is classed as an ally (green dot) will not. 
Of those classed as enemies, some are docile so the player must initiate combat. 
Each entry has a five-page story to unlock, similar to the one-page entries of regular area monsters.
The number of required kills listed in game is that needed to unlock only the next page in the set.

Regarding Deadguard, I've been 2-zoning for about five hours, looked in both spawn zones and chained almost 400 Mirrorknights and that damn beast still hasn't spawned yet. 40% spawn rate my a**. And yes, I already activated rare trophy hunt quest. Any advice as it's driving me nuts!

 

EDIT: either I'm an idiot or the game glitched on me. I gave up on that bastard and chase few more rares. And all of the sudden, Deadguard show up in my bestiary. And I swear it wasn't there before.

Can someone clearify something for me as i'm quickly approaching the finishing-parts for the plat. How many monsters from the bestiary aren't in the trials? Cause they count right?

 

They do count but are only about 50% of the total amount. And normally you get less because a) you won't search for certain ones and b) have some of them already.

Thank you... Just, thank you. This gave me so much trouble in the original version and I was not looking forward to dealing with it a second time around. Using your guide helped me make the most of my first trips in each area. When the end game came around all I had left were a few rare ones and some big'uns that were to powerful to take on when I first ran into them.

Is rainy weather in the Giza Plains a rare thing, or something else I have to wait until later in the game to experience?

 

The Giza Plains have a unique weather cycle that affects the area's geography. The weather begins cycling when the player enters Eruyt Village and is tasked to find the lost viera, Mjrn, in Henne Mines. The weather cycles are based on the in-game clock: 1 hour of rain followed by 2 hours of dry.
