If you are coming into this guide first, please see the full Dusk Diver – Trophy Guide & Roadmap for a detailed guide on the game and the trophies.

Dusk Diver is a fun JRPG that was originally created and localised by JFI Games and published in Asia by Justidan but subsequently published in the West by PQube. Set in an accurate rendering of Ximending, Taiwan, you play as Yumo, a young school-aged girl enjoying her summer break with her best friend, Yusha. Things quickly start to go wrong however and Yumo is now thrown into a protector role to fight against beings in a world she never knew existed, using powers she has never seen or even imagined.

She is assisted by a cadre of Kunlunians, a race essentially considered as Gods, who she meets along the way, who help her fight the battles and help her learn, not only about combat but about herself as well. Somehow, as a result of powers no one quite understands, she causes these Gods to change from their human form into what's called their "core form"; a kind of miniature (and very cute!) statuette, for lack of a better word, each in the form and shape of the animal they are. While their core forms make them appear adorable and perhaps harmless, the latter is far from the truth; these Guardians are extremely powerful, even in human form but they also have what's essentially a 'warrior form' and can transform into a massive, deadly version of their animal. While the Main Story takes place in Ximending, you will only spend half or even less of your time there, the rest being spent in Youshanding. This is an alternate dimension, one of two mentioned in-game (the other being Kunln), where Chaos Beasts roam and control the land. They are constantly fighting but why and for what, no one truly knows. The border between worlds seems to be eroding more and more, day by day and they have to fight diligently against the monsters on the other side.

The game has much to offer beyond just the Main Missions and the side content really fleshes out the game and story, adding a lot of not just Character plot and development but even city development in a way, where the town of Ximending becomes a lot more realistic and full of life through the use of mini-quests that introduces you to many of the town's residents, small business owners and even tourists. This side content ranges from full side-quests, to mini-quests, to lottery machines and so on. While this is optional to the story, it is not optional for the Platinum, as there is at least one trophy for literally anything that exists in-game. This is especially so because the Gallery, which you must fill, contains entries rewarded from all of that side content. In addition, the side-quests are extra important as the Guardian and Boss quests unlock new moves and items respectively. This Supplement details where each Gallery item comes from and lists all of the abilities and side-quests, including a brief description, available in-game.

Normal World:

:l3: (move joystick): Move

:r3: (move joystick): Camera

:cross:: Enter/Next

:l2:: Force camera to swing to the direction you're facing

:r2:: Sprint (press; no need to hold)

Combat Controls & Abilities List:

:triangle:: Light attack

:square:: Heavy attack

:circle:: Use Equipped Guardian

:cross:: Jump

:r2:: Dash/Sprint

:r3: (press): Lock

:l1: + :r1:: D.ARMS mode

:dpad:: Change Equipped Guardian

Combo List:

There are a few combos that you begin with and a few more that you can learn over time and through upgrading Yumo's 'Moves' skill and upgrading her Guardians' skills via Invitation/Training Quests. These combos mainly consist of various :square:s and :triangle:s, though there are also a few that use :circle:. All of the ones currently available to you, as well as the next one to unlock, can be found in the Tutorials section of the Main Menu.

Click on the following images to expand them:

Abilities List:

:l1: + :r1:: Puts you in D.ARMS Mode, thus increasing all of your combat attributes and dramatically increasing Leo's power. (requires full TP gauge)

- Refill TP faster by using Guardians (pressing :circle: in combat) as each guardian hit/kill will spawn yellow TP bubbles. (You can increase the amount given via these bubbles by upgrading their TP in the Skills menu).

Guardian Attacks:

When you increase a Guardian's Friendship level, you'll unlock a special Guardian Invitation Quest, marked on the map with a pawprint. (It'll also tell you when one is available by saying "Event available" on the top-right of your screen). When you finish that quest, head to the Convenience Store and access the Stage Select (the computer station), press :r1: to the pawprint icon and there you'll find the Training missions. Each one unlocks the next skill for that Guardian and there are 4 for each Guardian and thus 12 in total for all 3. You'll need to unlock each of these for each character so even if you've already unlocked Leo's Guardian Special Skill, you'll still need to do the same for Bahet and Le Viada.

The Training Missions unlock the following 4 skills for each Guardian. Although they are very similar, some of these attacks are not actually identical for each Guardian. For example: The beginning combo for the Combination Attack is 2 :square: for Leo, 3 for Bahet and 4 for Le Viada. Each attack also has a different use, thereby allowing for in-depth tactical strategies for using all 3 Guardians. The four attacks that unlock are:

Aerial Summon Attack - Unlocks by doing the 1st Guardian Training quest.

Guardian Special Skill - Unlocks by doing the 2nd Guardian Training quest.

Combination Attack - Unlocks by doing the 3rd Guardian Training quest.

D.ARMS Finish EX - Unlocks by doing the 4th Guardian Training quest.

Leo:

Aerial Summon Attack: :circle: (in air) - Impaling Earth Shock: A quick AOE attack.

Guardian Special Skill: :circle:=>:circle: or :l1:+:triangle: - Lion Spirit: Long-range attack that weakens enemy's Super Armor.

Combination Attack: :square::square::triangle::circle::circle: or :l1:+:circle:=>:circle: - Impaling Earth Shock:Imitate: Strong Super Armor-weakening attack by Yumo.

D.ARMS Finish EX: :l1:+:r1: (while in D.ARMS mode) - Double Star Lion Roar: Strong Special D.ARMS finishing attack.

Bahet:

Aerial Summon Attack: :circle: (in air) - Flying Sonic: AOE attack that leaves the enemy airborne.

Guardian Special Skill: :circle:=>:circle: or :l1:+:triangle: - Swift Sonic: Fast combo-making dash attack.

Combination Attack: :square::square::square::triangle::circle::circle: or :l1:+:circle:=>:circle: - Flying Sonic: Duet: Consecutive slash attacks by Yumo.

D.ARMS Finish EX: :l1:+:r1: - Broken Chords: Strong Special D.ARMS finishing attack.

Le Viada:

Aerial Summon Attack: :circle: (in air) - Bye Bye Baby: Quick attack that deploys mines.

Guardian Special Skill: :circle:=>:circle: or :l1:+:triangle: (on the ground) - Catwalk: Powerful long-range attack.

Combination Attack: :square::square::square:square::triangle::circle::circle: or :l1:+:circle:=>:circle: - Catwalk Training: Consecutive shots by Yumo.

D.ARMS Finish EX: :l1:+:r1: - Aim for the Stars: Strong Special D.ARMS finishing attack.

Combat Tips & Important Info:

  • Be aware that when in an active Just Dodge, i.e. when time has slowed, using your :r1: attack at any time will instantly cancel the Just Dodge and begin the cooldown tracker as usual. Keep this in mind and, except when/where necessary, try to save your :r1:s for the end of the JD.

  • If you feel like you don't have time to dodge (and if you have enough SP), use the :r1: attack. The animation, because it's technically considered a cutscene, makes you invulnerable during those few seconds.

  • Each combo you do has a certain animation and, unfortunately, many can't be dodged, meaning you can easily get hit during the animation.

  • When using :r1: and especially the D.ARMS finishing move (:l1: + :r1:), positioning is very important. You need to be facing the enemy relatively straight-on to get the best effects. Certain moves, like Bahet's :r1:, can be a tad more forgiving as his is ranged and more of a cone rather than just a straight line but for the most part, if you're not looking dead ahead, the attack won't land. You also need to know enough about these attacks so that you know exactly where you have to be. For example: Nemea and Leo's :r1: both have a very small hitbox and will only hit enemies that are immediately next to you when you use it, whereas Bahet's :r1: can reach a certain range and will hit everything in a cone in front of you all the way up to several feet away.

    You can use :r3: to lock on a target which helps with some positioning. During normal combat, if you're locked on, in addition to constantly turning you in that direction during attacks and dodges, when you use a Guardian combo or :r1: attack, it will automatically attack towards the locked-on target, even if you're at a distance. If you get accustomed to not only using the lock but toggling it on and off, you can use that to your advantage.

6: Urban Legend in Ximending VI - Find out why Yusha is in a hurry - This mission spawns during Chapter 12, after you've gone home and as you're on your way back to the Convenience Store. You'll see Yusha sprinting and that unlocks the quest. Follow her to begin it. This is hands down the most annoying and frustrating mission in the game, because the wallet thief moves really quickly and the obstacles he puts in your way are a pain to dodge. If you lose sight of the thief by having the Distance gauge max out, it's an automatic game over and you'll have to restart the mission from the start. The best tip we can offer is to dash a lot (:lsup:+:r2:) and abuse J.D Time. Once you corner the thief, you will have to fight some waves of enemies before being able to reclaim Yusha's wallet. We also suggest waiting until you've fully upgraded your Just Dodge and to also eat J&G Fried Chicken's Crispy Garlic King Oyster Mushrooms that gives you the Just Dodge Shorten Cooldown Lv.3 food buff.
