EA Teases Next-Gen Need for Speed

EA has posted a teaser image on its official Need for Speed Facebook page, teasing what looks to be a next-generation instalment in the series, based on the screenshot showing a rain-drenched Koenigsegg with a police paint job.

Encouragingly, it looks like it could be another Hot Pursuit title, if the word 'pursuit' emblazoned on the car's door is any kind of an indication. Regardless of whether it's a new iteration in the Hot Pursuit series, it certainly looks very pretty.

Take a look at the teaser next-gen Need for Speed screenshot below. An official announcement is surely just around the corner, and no doubt the next Need for Speed should be heading to PS4. "Have no rules, show no mercy" reads the image description. More as we get it.

  • Loved Hot Pursuit, especially the online, Most Wanted was just ok IMO. Can't wait for this.
  • I hope it will be open world
  • im so tired of the same rehashed crap game developers keep making. if it's not another need for speed game, it's fifa and if it's not fifa it's call of duty etc etc. it's time indie game developers took over because at least they know what a fresh idea means. i'm not going to support a game that i've already played before that doesn't do anything revolutionary. a game like metro: last light is a game i would support and i'm going to support once i buy it next month because at least it tries to be different. the only reason why game developers keep hashing out the same old shit every single time is because people are stupid enough to buy it. broaden your horizon a bit, it doesn't hurt.
  • Police = Non plussed. If I wanted to be chased by police I could do that whenever I wanted IRL (and in the UK the penalties for getting caught are less severe than most games lol).
  • @3 Its not stupid to support something you genuinely enjoy even if you have an open mind. I have over 90 disc based PS3 games and 125ish download games not to mention a Vita and 360 to pair off on. I have purchased every NFS since the original Most Wanted and yes some have been subpar but overall I'm getting an experience I enjoy. Dont get me wrong, its not near the caliber of racers like Grid, or GT, or any other of a number of racers but its the way they combine the music with the sound effects and the theatrics that makes me love NFS. Youre the same person that says you'll support Metro (which is an amazing game especially with surround sound or the Pulse headset) but once it hits its third installment you'll complain that they need to do something else. Face it thats not the gaming world we live in, the only reason gaming has become so damn popular in the last generation osnt because of amazing experiences like Heavy Rain or Tomb Raider stuff with the uniqueness pf Catherine; its all because of Call of Duty, Fifa and any game that has a freaking zombie in it.
  • @ 3, While it's true that a lot of people BUY the similarly "recycled" stuff, that doesn't mean they are stupid. I don't think that was a nice thing to say at all, and at most is very judgmental. People can do whatever the heck they want with their money, even if it means purchasing something you do not (or no longer) agree with. I have been following NFS since Undercover, but that doesn't mean I do not support "indie" games. Believe me most (if not all) of my downloaded games are from independent developers, and it's what I am into now actually. BUT that doesn't mean I won't buy the OLD and TRIED titles (that some players are getting tired of) when they come out. However what I do not agree with is when the developers release a product that ends up crashing your console very often and no support or patches are released immediately. This is my clincher, what will help me decide if I would still support that studio/developer or not.
  • So who is developing this game BTW? Criterion called it quits with arcade racing... Black Box hit rock bottom... Are you telling me it's going to be Slightly Mad Studios? Co'z they have been very quiet after Shift2: Unleashed. This should be interesting.
  • Gimme dat CUSTOMISATION.
  • So, EA, it's the time you uncover your "Ghost" studio.
  • Frick me, just take my money already.
  • @3 it's people like you who are going to take the Arkham series away from me!
  • @3 for me gameplay doesn't need to be changed up a ton for me to love a game, just a new story or a continuation of a story is the most important part of a game, but still do like ind games and such.
  • Any Need For Speed for me is a first day buy.
  • @11 Dont worry between Kevin Conroys slip up and the launch of the 1966 Batman TV series as a comic coming later this year I dont doubt the reality of the much rumored open world Classic Batman VG, may not be an Arkham title but Rocksteady will be at the helm.
