Batman: Arkham City GOTY Delayed Until November in the UK

Despite the North American release of the Batman: Arkham City Game of the Year Edition going off without a hitch almost six months ago on May 29th, the UK launch date of the GOTY Edition of the sublime Arkham City has missed its scheduled September 7th release and has been delayed until November.

Bundled with all of the game's DLC including the Harley Quinn's Revenge story add-on, the Batman: Arkham City Game of the Year Edition released in North America with the Batman: Year One animated movie as an added bonus. An extra treat that the UK and EU release won't have. And now it's delayed too, for no apparent reason.

"Apologies for the confusion and the delay, we understand it is disappointing," Rocksteady's European Community Manager Sarah Wellock wrote on the game's forums. "Each of the territories determined the best time to release Batman: Arkham City Game of the Year Edition and for the UK, November is best."

Batman: Arkham City Game of the Year Edition will now release in November 2nd, amid the busy pre-Christmas period. Strange... "A lot of the time we have to consider our relationships with retailers and what works well for them," Wellock added. "It's not just about release schedules."

Sad. I want it and was waiting for the GOTY edition. Though I don't think I will buy it right away, due to my gigantic backlog.

I don't live in the U.K. But this is very unfair to those other people in the U.K. that waited for this GOTY. Waiting 4 months for this now they have to wait 2 more. My sympathies to the U.K. Batman players.

Why exactly is there such a delay? Clearly it's ready, because it's been out for 4 months across the pond. I don't mind delays but this seems pointless. What's their excuse?

@5, have to remember that every region is different, and there are a thousand different laws and what have you, that they need to go through before release. so while it has been out in the US for a while now, the US is also one of the easiest places to release a game (from what i've heard). other countries take longer legally, financially and just overall systematically. if they have to work with the retailers to come up with a launch date, that can take a while.

WTF is going on with EU recently, we're being shit on from every direction when it comes to games

this whole region locking shit has to stop, or i'm done buying games, with PS3 it's not a problem unless you like to buy all DLC, but with my xbox, i'm a little tired of missing out on shmups because i can't afford a jap console on top of £50 per game

the PSN issues of late have pissed me off, now it's jsut going beyond a joke, nothing to do with legal issues for batman...the DLC is out and has been for months, it's just laziness and you can bet they still want £50 when it comes out, regardless of it being out for 6 months in the rest of the world

the older i get, the more i wish i was japanese

What's a "jap" console? Surely you're not talking about the Japanese, right? I would refrain from referring to the Japanese as "japs". Its taken in a negative light.

This is another fine example of why I import my games from the the good old USA, fed up with waiting. I understand the complications but it's not my fault where I live in the world. I've even resorted to purchasing psn cards off ebay for my US account through cause of delays for games such as TWD and CSGO. Also after yesterday the farce with the store update which is still ongoing I believe, Double Dragon Neon being up then taken off, LBP Vita error codes customers being charged twice, SCEE is becoming worse as the weeks go by. I really hope things get sorted as myself and many other gamers are losing faith going towards next gen

@7 Unnecessary racism is unnecessary.

Strange how they are releasing it so close to the Wii U's launch, which if I recall correctly will have it's own Batman: AC edition with the release. Is Rocksteady trying to tempt people to buy the Wii U edition if they buy a Wii U? Who knows.

@8 - He also shortened the European Union to EU! Oh no, quick, someone call the police, he was just racist to 500 million people. Grow up. Just look at the writing around it, hardly hostile is it? Just like when I call an american a Yank. No racist intention. Any word can become offensive when retards like you apply a different meaning to it.

@3 Thanks for the sympathy. As for the lack of the Year One movie, they probably don't feel like rooting out all the different language dubs. *sigh*It's a harsh price to pay for living in a territory with so many languages.

Although the UK is technically part of the EU. I really can't understand why we get lumped in with Europe for releases and have to wait for each language to get input/localised?

One major thing we have in common with the US is the same freaking language! Why don't they just release US versions here too? I mean come on we get the same translation as they do anyway!

They lost a purchase with by delaying this. I cancelled my preorder and switched it for Resident Evil 6 (prob regret this based upon the Chris and Jake sections of the demo, but sticking to my guns!)

No YOU grow up! You don't call Americans "Yanks" and you don't call Japanese "Japs". Just like you don't call blacks "n****r" or white "h*****s". Racist slurs is offensive. Watch your mouth with the name calling. I'm not a retard and obviously you must be a kid with your way of thinking! Internet folks always popping off at the finger tips. Point is you don't use the words if you KNOW they have an offensive gesture. Be smart and learn a lesson.

@17 - I'm 28 years of age. I do call americans Yanks, I do call Chinese people Chinks, I even have a close black friend I call my 'nigger', he in turn calls me his 'honky'. I'm grown up enough to embrace different races and cultures instead of being afraid to use half the English language just in case it offends someone. I will not watch my mouth, because as I said before, the point you obviously overlooked, words don't mean anything unless you apply meaning to them. Racial slurs when directed at an individual or ethnic group are offensive, well done, but as #7 used the word without any racist intention it's just your lack of intelligence that has misguided you. I can see you know nothing about language anyways seeing as you can't 'gesture' using words! Be smart and read a book or five on language.

Then you're more disillusioned than I thought. If you and your friends call each other by those names, then that's YOUR business. Don't come here and justify how its the way people imply them that gives it meaning. That may be the case in some situation, but it doesn't dilute the fact that its still offensive else where. Why don't you go outside and walk up to the first black person you see (that you don't know) and call him a nigger that's not in a "racist fashion". Think he/she will react with subtlety? Your lack of intelligence suggest that people should react like you would and get over that. You need to read a book or 10 about chivalry, demographic society, and cultural courtesy. Trust me, I'm not misguided. I'm a 30 year old man that sees things very clearly that's been shown to me.

Obviously we have different views on this, so I will agree to disagree. If you want to debate this more...feel free to inbox me and we can have at it. The thing that you need to know is that coming on a forum or site saying stuff like "japs, niggers, honkies, spic, etc" will offend people who don't know YOU. So its better not to say it. That's all I'm getting at here.
