Dead Island: Riptide CG Trailer is Another Tearjerker

Deep Silver has gone and put together another one of those heart-wrenching Dead Island trailers today, this time for the impending sequel, Dead Island: Riptide.

Unlike the old Dead Island trailer, which jerked our tear ducts and tugged our heart strings, this Riptide one goes forward, as in it isn't all backwards, and tells the story of a doomed couple on their luxury yacht, sailing on a calm, sun-dappled sea.

And then it all goes tits-up, in a manner of speaking. There's zombies all over the place, leaving the couple with no choice but to resort to drastic measures... It's sad stuff, and almost definitely in no way representative of the tone that Dead Island: Riptide will be shooting for. Watch it below.

Dead Island: Riptide is out in 2013. You can read our first look preview here.

  • They've certainly got the trailer thing down. I adored the first one and speaking presumptuously, the people that complain about glitches, most likely didn't play it. I maxed out the game with one character and got 1/2 through with another and experienced not a single glitch. Online was surprisingly fun also. Definitely picking this up.
  • Amazing!! I really like zombie games! BRAAAINS!! :)
  • Another great trailer, although once again not showing anything about the game.. oh well, I love the first one and I'm sure I'll love this one too. :D
  • I really liked the first one despite it's flaws, so if they have learned their lesson and made a more polished game then this will be amazing.
  • Not as good as the trailer for the first game
  • Another great trailer, but I'm willing to bet it's also another trailer that's totally misleading as for the tone of the game. It would be nice to have a zombie game with a compelling story, but I have e feeling we're just gonna get the typical zombie slasher that was the first Dead Island again.
  • Be a shame if the gas knocked them out before sparking up.
  • That's cool. I didn't feel like smiling anymore today. :_{
  • I'm with #6 on this one... The Dead Island trailer literally had nothing to do with anything in the game.
  • Make sure to pre-order it for the steel case addition. You'll only get it if you order it months before the release date.
  • the trailers are better than the game.
  • Looks good, just like the first trailer to the first game did. Thats not to say I dodn't enjoy the first game.
  • Nothing wrong with having a cinematic trailer. Even if it has nothing to do with the actual game, it's still a nice sight-- even if it is a bit sad. O: Anyway, the first one was amazing, sure this one will be too. Definately picking it up.(:
  • Another trailer that makes the heart feel heavy. Keep meaning to play the first again.
  • The first trailer was amazing but the game was totally different to what everyone was expecting, this time around the trailer is still amazing, only now you know what to expect, I highly doubt it will have moved on much from the first base game, I expect roughly the same gameplay. @11 The steelbook edition of the first game was a limited run in Spain in DVD size, which now hits over the £500 mark on the likes of eBay, but to be quite honest, after actually playing Dead Island I would say anyone who spends that kind of money on that game, steelbook or not, needs their head examined.
  • @11 sorry dude I thought you meant the first game I just saw the Steelbook edition on Gamestop.com but it isnt available on the UK Gamestop, it looks cool but dunno if it will hit record cash amounts like the first game. http://www.gamestop.com/ps3/games/dead-island-riptide/102526

  • @16 I got one of those DI steelbooks, a friend was touring EU when it was out and managed to snag a copy for me somehow. Never got around to playing it and ended up selling it for a whopping 600 euro, of whuch I spent ca 30 euros on re-buying the GOTY edition, so now I got a steelcase less, but 570$ richer and have all the DLC :D I love fanboys & girls, I've been milking collectors stuff like this my whole life and earn more than half of my living that way :D
