Despite them becoming increasingly prolific in recent years, we do love a good special edition. And here's one that might be worth a shout. It's a special edition for the gorgeous Level-5 and Studio Ghibli collaboration, Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, boasting a few rather substantial goodies.

A glorious-looking RPG, Ni No Kuni tells the story of Oliver who embarks upon a journey with his buddy Drippy to resurrect his deceased mother. Publisher Namco Bandai has today revealed the EU and Australasian Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch 'Wizard's Edition', which bundles the game with the following:

  • Drippy Plush Doll
  • 300+ Page Hardcover The Wizard's Companion Book
  • Exclusive 'golden mite' and 'golden drongo' DLC familiars

The full-colour Wizard's Companion book includes a bestiary alongside in-depth item descriptions, spells and a history of the other world. Additionally, if you pre-order Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch from participating retailers, you'll also get two exclusive familiars called 'flutterby' and 'griffy', created especially for the western release.

Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch's Wizard's Edition will be available in a limited run, launching with the standard release of the game on January 25th, 2013. Check out the Wizard's Edition below, then give our E3 hands-on preview a read.

I've read a lot that this is a "heart warming" game. I'm intrigued by it. A turn based RPG sounds damn good to me.

@2 it's not really a turn based rpg, it's more along the lines of you move around the battlefield in real-time, however your attacks and skills have a small cooldown on them! It's interesting when you are against bosses and tough hunt monsters where you will be attacking but then the monster will be ready to unleash a ferocious attack and you can't block immediately because of the cooldown timer on practically everything you do.

The game is looking absolutely fantastic and the battle system is kinda a bastard offspring off White Knight Chronicles (cooldown on moves) and Pokemon (collecting monsters or familiars if you want to be nit-picky). The battles do require alot of attention and tactics, not just keep whamming the action button!!!

Is this going to come to the us? Yeah right. What is up with this? We are really starting to get fucked over with not getting any awesome editions of games. mus like sonic generations. Rayman was another one. So I wonder what is going through their heads when putting these things out? "Americans won't buy these, yup."

Please Please let this collection come to USA too. I can't wait for this game to come out and having the spell book would make it all the better.

I already am playing the JP version (loving it!), and I was going to buy the US release as well, until I saw the drastic name changes and voice choices Namco made.
