E3 2012: F1 2012 Interview - Driving a Few Laps With Paul Jeal

Before F1 2010 came along and Codemasters Racing resurrected Formula One racing games, it was a neglected sub-genre that had been left in the wilderness for three years. With the success of F1 2010, the studio subsequently built upon that success for F1 2011 and now it's pulling out all the stops for F1 2012.

Having enjoyed a couple of laps around the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas with Game Director Paul Jeal, we stepped outside the LA Convention Center during E3 to talk in more depth about F1 2012 and what the future holds for the franchise, as Codemasters looks ahead with a multi-year deal in place for the FIA Formula One license.

Check out our interview below, and stick around for some outtakes at the end. You can also read our hands-on preview with a live demo video here.

Localised weather, changing weather fronts. Excellent additions.

Removal of the paddock concerns me but I'll wait to see how they've altered it.

@3 It's a spam bot, not the first one I've seen here, best thing you can do is hit that report button :)

Anyways, getting on topic, I am really looking forward to this game, just a shame that other new games are coming out around that time too :(

I really enjoyed F1 2010, one of the most challenging and rewarding racing games I've played. Didn't get F1 2011 because for the most part it was just the same tracks. But it's been a couple years now and they've got that new Texas track, so I suppose it's time I got back into this franchise.

I imagine they'll require some ungodly amount of time to be spent playing online in order to get the platinum, so I won't even think about that.

Tbh I dont think there is enough here that will warrant a purchase from myself...I might just skip this installment of the franchise and wait for the next 1

Because of F1 2011 I bought PS3, absolutely love it & can't wait for F1 2012. Hopefully CM makes penalties more punishing to the drivers that crash into others… BTW I have acquired Platinum with 2011.
