Kaz Hirai has exited his role as representative director and chairman of Sony Computer Entertainment.
Hirai remains the CEO and president of the entire Sony Corporation, a position he took up on April 1st of this year. He will continue to sit on the SOE board in a part time role.
In addition to this, Chairman of the Sony Corporation Howard Stringer retired from his part-time role on the board.
Among the new blood appointed to the board is President of SCE Japan Hiroshi Kawano.
Hirai’s exit is expected as he continues to right a flagging ship. PlayStation is one of the company’s few well-performing branches and Sony is hoping that he can repeat that magic on the company as a whole.
