Revving its engine for its own brand of destruction derby, racing and hoonigan madness, DiRT Showdown will be speeding into stores next month, Codemasters has just announced. And to coincide with today's release date reveal, Codies has also sent us a slew of new assets, with a tasty new trailer and a garage-full of screenshots.

The new trailer focuses on DiRT Showdown's Hoonigan events, popularised by Ken Block and his Monster Energy branded Ford Fiesta, and a variety of X-Game events in DiRT 2 and hoonigan in DiRT 3. It's back with a vengeance for DiRT Showdown, as the video shows.

DiRT Showdown will be launching across Europe on May 24th and in the UK on May 25th, before subsequently arriving in North America on May 29th. There'll also be a demo coming on May 1st. Check out the new hoonigan trailer and screenshots showing off the more destructive aspects of DiRT Showdown below. There's 10 new shots in the gallery.

I was on the fence about Showdown before this video and Screenshots, I'm still on the fence, the demo will probably be the decider for me.

I originally thought this was a PSN/XBLA release. Am I crazy or at one point was it going to be digital-only?

@4 It was going to be digital, must have changed their mind which I'm glad they did because there's a huge market for this kind of game. Burnout is great and all but nothing compares to the original Destruction Derby games. If they can come close to what they were like then this could be a classic.
