Kellee Santiago, co-founder of Journey devs thatgamecompany, has left the studio.

Santiago started the indie outfit back in 2006 alongside Jenova Chen at Southern California University. Since then they have released a number of highly respected indie titles, including Flow and Flower, culminating in the launch of the celebrated Journey just a few week’s ago.

"So much of my work at thatgamecompany was really supporting Jenova’s visions for the types of games he wanted to make," explained Santiago."And I felt like I have done everything I needed to do there, and that he's in a great place now to go on and continue with some of the other people at thatgamecompany to take that to a whole new height."

In a statement, thatgamecompany said, "After the hard struggle behind Flow, Flower and Journey, we've finally reached our goal. Awaiting at the mountaintop are new enlightenments and new sets of milestones for our life.

"While we want to continue the path of thatgamecompany, Kellee has found a new direction in her career. Though our path in the future may be different, as TGC begins our next project, we wish Kellee a good journey and that our paths may cross again."

"My hope is that I can take what I've learned and use it to support more teams, more projects, and really, hopefully, help in accelerating the growth of video games as a medium," concluded Santiago.

  • Really sad to hear this. Really hope thatgamecompany will continue to make impressive titles! Interested in knowing what Kellee is gonna work on now. Would be awesome to see 2 small companies making beatiful games like Journey and Flower.
  • @thatgamecompany i would have so mutch to say but i will be short with words, THANK YOU to give us game like Journey, Flower and Flow, that games make me grow as a gamer and realise that game can be beautiful art and made me felt the REAL pourpouse of games ( to amuse me and for me to enjoy without caring for retarded trophies) so once again thank you for that. PS- if u would give me Journey 2 i would love and will love u for the rest of my life
  • She probably wanted to make actual games instead of pieces of software that are not games and are less entertaining than watching paint dry. @2: Lay off the pot.
  • The peaceful tranquility of thatgamecompany was probably starting to drive her mad. Perhaps she needs to bang some pots and pans around. Shoot some guns. Drive fast cars.
  • @3 It obviously got something right as it is the fastest-selling PSN title in both the US and Europe.
