Army of Two: The 40th Day
'Army of Four' Breaks Cover on Twitter

Following rumours originally outed back in December, Army of Two: The 40th Day follow-up, Army of Four has been alluded to once again, this time via the Twitter account of a voice actor who claims to be working on the game. If genuine, then EA might be developing the third game in the series, under the name Army of Four with 4-player co-op.

"Just signed on to do the new AO4 video game for Electronic Arts," reads the tweet from voice actor, Joe Flanigan. "Some splinter from Battlefield. Finally, my kids think I am cool again."

Flanigan later corrected his error, thinking that Army of Two was a Battlefield spin-off, with a follow-up tweet: "showing how distinctively uncool I am, I think I have those games mixed up."

Yes. Yes, you do.

News of a third Army of Two game first materialised back in April last year, followed by rumours in December that Army of Four could be utilising DICE's Frostbite 2.0 engine, which would certainly make a lot of sense. Will Eliot Salem and Tyson Rios be making a comeback with two new buddies in tow then? If what we've heard of Army of Four so far proves to be true, then that could well be the case. However, we'd suggest the usual pinch of salt for now.

I absolutely loved the previous games and I've completed them both more than 10 times. It's a first day buy for me.

The first game was good fun with a friend, the second game was bloody awful. Absolutely no story (certainly felt that way) and it just lacked any 'soul', also the crappiest ending I've seen in a while. How will Salem & Rios even be in this next game? Will EA just pretend they never shipped AoT: The 40th Day?

I know I may be in the minority, but I really enjoyed both games. First was great. Cool story, interesting coop mechanics and just a blast splitscreen. Second was still fun, but the story. Gah. There really wasnt a story. And the online was definitely broken - not to mention the DLC trophy glitch. But I still dug playing it splitscreen.

As long as Army of Four retains splitscreen availibility, definitely a day 1 buy for yours truly.

Why Not?

I will buy it... I really enjoy the first 2 games...

AofTwo 40th day was excellent with the right coop partner (I did!) & the online was really good, expecially the 16 levels of mayhem that took 3 to 5 hours to play through in one sitting... I played it like 7 times...

I hope if its true they make it online co-op that split screen gameplay made it rough to really get in the game.
