UK Retailers List Vita Game Prices

UK prices have started appearing for the Vita's launch line-up of games, with some going as high as a whopping £44.99.

It looks like there will be a few different RRP tiers for the region. Amazon, Play and ShopTo are each listing launch games for either £24.99, £39.99 or £44.99 RRP.

Starting at the cheap end of the spectrum, mini-game collection Little Deviants and the AR-enhanced Reality Fighters are listed at just £24.99 (Play has them for a cut-price £17.99). Everybody's Golf, WipEout 2048 and Unit 13, however, have an RRP of £39.99 each.

But perhaps the biggest eye (and wallet)-opener is Uncharted: Golden Abyss. Drake's first portable adventure could set you back £44.99. That's a lot of money. Are you willing to spend that much on a portable game?

  • That's really expensive for a portable.. but then again it is console like quality... I don't know. Day by day the vita looks more and more disappointing.
  • yeah kinda expensive, regular new PS3 games go for 37-45 pounds. well those a the good games, crappy games go for less ofcourse:P but the 280 pounds I'd have to pay to get the vita is what I'm more anoyed by (yes thats the 3G + WiFi version, but since you can't upgrade I want to have to full thing in 1 buy:P), guess I'll have to wait till the first price drops comes and that'll be one long ass wait:(
  • Holy crap. £44.99? Thats more than I spend on new PS3 games. This has sealed my decision not to get a Vita.
  • Not chance, I won't spend any more than £20 on a Vita game.
  • lol, I only just realised handheld games are usualy WAY cheaperXD, this sure is weird... hope sony will realise this soon or they'll be making a big loss on the whole vita project...
  • Between the price of the memory cards, the price of the games (assuming that it corresponds to the exchange rate for US currency) and the single-ID limitation, my decision has been made: I'm not buying a Vita, and, if they plan on employing a similar strategy with the PS4, my next console will be a Microsoft console.
  • Wow, that's insane. I've defended the vita on most points till now but honestly £49.99 is fucking nuts. Mind you I'm from Canada so I'm not sure what the price for ps3 games and such go for, but you guys seem to be saying these are more expensive then ps3 games, which is ridiculous. Here's to hoping they aren't too expensive in NA.
  • @1 "Console quality" is a nice web Sony and other dev's like to spin over people's eyes.I'm sure the controls will be mostly gimmicky forcing you to use vita specific controls for no reason whatsoever (like the PS3 did for a while with pointless sixaxis use forced into most games, which was employed in a way that was so clunky and away from the game) and not to mention the graphics.Everyone seems to go on and on about the hardware but just remember the console isnt even playing in 720p (like 98% of ps3 games do since sony wont allow scalers and the console CANNOT handle full on 1080p at a playable framerate the entire time) which means the graphics can be considerably lower and still look "close enough" to the same. All of this is aimed mostly at Uncharted since thats Sony's big "look at us,buy vita!!" game. Were you to play the vita version of Uncharted on anything other than the vita's screen, your "console quality" game would vanish in seconds as you see the real world graphics, gimmicked controls, quality of game and length of game, not to mention almost every other aspect of it. Other than everything listed there, which the vita lacks, what akes up your "console quality"?
  • I've said from day one that I'm buying a vita, but as every bit of news comes out Sony are pushing me further and further away. I'm seriously doubting a day 1 buy for me now.
  • There all online retailers!!!! I will wait to see what the high street has to offer.... I know that online is nomaly cheaper but in recent times that's not been the case for me. I've found places like tesco, asda and even game the cheapest places

  • Sony... You're gonna kill your company by doing this. I know I am not getting a Vita now because I'd have to spend $300 just for the Vita, $160 for the 32GB memory card and $30-$50 a game... I could buy the PlayStation 3DTV for that price FFS
  • Uncharted: Golden Abyss is available for pre-order at Amazon.Uk for £28.37
  • ha no chance defo nt getting vita
  • @13 was just about to post that! and wipeouts that price 2! i would say for the big games like uncharted £30 would be the most id spend so well done Amazon! £25 would be a great price for all Vita games maybe a couple of months after launch the price for retail might be £25! If your buying a Vita supermarkets are were to go! they always try and out do each other!
  • So, at this point, I'm thinking Sony learned nothing from the insanely high price of the PS3 at launch. They also didn't learn anything from Nintendo's insanely high 3DS price either. They're once again just going for the "people will buy it no matter the price because our brand name is on it" strategy, even though it never works. Didn't work for them before, didn't work for Nintendo. It's not going to work this time. After the fanboys buy their Vitas, sales are going to slow and they'll have to do something fast to salvage sales like Nintendo did.
  • Doesn't surprise me tbh. The console is essentially useless without any games. to play launch titles were always going to be expensive as people will have no choice but to buy them in order to use their vita, just like the memory card if they wish to save their game progress. I know that we as consumers as getting ripped off but Sony have been smart in money making terms by forcing these prices on us as games and a memory card for the vita are not optional. I did think games like uncharted would be most expensive because just like the cod titles each year, the devs can charge more and they know people will still buy them.
  • That's a big no for me. Enjoying my PS3 too much. Or Assassins Creed Revelations now :)
  • Glad I live in the U.S., Vita games are only $30-$40.
  • The cost of getting a Vita is way too high so I won't be getting one for a very long time.
  • in north america they are less than half lol
  • Just wait a few months and those prices will drop big time. Wait a year and even more so. You can get Killzone 3 on Amazon for £15 at the moment! Everyone should just wait for the inevitable price drop, which is likely as we've seen with the 3DS.
  • Im still uncertain if I should get a 3DS or a Vita. Vita is starting to look less and less good. The prices are just... unbelievable.
  • Very disappointing i can get PS3 games for cheaper! will wait me thinks for a while before purchasing a VITA! Shame cos i got a PSP on day one from Japan and loved it still do!
  • I expected the Vita games to be about £40 so I'm already prepared for it
  • I'll stick to my PSP for now.
  • How much are PS4 games going to cost then?!???!?!! >.>
  • Well thats it for me. Enjoy the vita guys, I won't be participating. I'm in Australia and the 3g model is listed for $449.99. Plus another $120 for the gay memory card. Plus if uncharted is going to be £45 that means at least $79 here. So just to get started with one game its going to cost me almost $650 and with the aussie dollar the way it is thats $650 US or about £450. Fail again Sony.
  • Also its a big risk to buy the vita early. Could be the psp go all over again. Risky.
  • This is why i got a 3DS.
  • Holy crap. The equivalent of 45 pounds in Canadian is 72.5 dollars. And if I add tax into that, it equates to 82 bucks. Yeah, I don't even buy god damn collectors editions that expensive, let alone games. One more handheld I'll miss.
  • I just looked on Amazon.co.uk and Uncharted Golden Abyss is now £28.37, but what ever the price, I will be buying it!
  • Wow. When Vita was announced, I wanted it. Then I heard about the price of the Vita. Then I heard about the price of the memory cards. And now the games are ridiculously overpriced? What the hell is Sony thinking? Did they not learn from the price of the PS3? I am usually always defending Sony but there is no way anybody can defend all of this.
  • Get a grip people, these are not going to be the prices. Amazon have already slashed Uncharted down to £28.
  • ill wait a year... :/
  • After seeing the Vita's surprising launch in Japan, I really doubt a few people bitching out now is going to do anything. And really? "ooh, the lauch prices are too much for me. guess i'll just skip out on the vita" Really? Does hardware and software never see a price reduction? I guess buying a Vita down the road when the entry price is lower is just too intelligent for most "gamers" on this site.
  • You do know that these are just placeholders, SCEE havent announced any prices yet.
  • Region free? If so it's ebay time!!
  • Hmm I hope this isn't a trend to increase the price of new games universally. Think about it, the last gen, PS2 Xbox and Gamecube, had games had $50 new, some at $40 new. Now in this gen they are at $60 new with some at $50, with the HD Collections (and I think GotY editions) at $40. Are they going to bump next gen's games' prices to $70 new?! That would be insane! I seriously hope Sony can rethink their pricings to keep them reasonable, as having to pay ANYTHING above $60 for a new game (excluding tax) is just too much to ask of us, the gamers.
  • I'm not very surprise... i was expected that this will happen. The only curious thing is why so expensive for be a portable game?, come on!, even the 3DS games brand new cost like 40$, i can accept in pay 60$ for a home console game but not a portable game.
  • Strangely now at Amazon.Uk Uncharted: Golden Abyss is £34.99 while the other PSVita titles are still at £28. Probably the prices are fluctuating these days so I suggest you to get them NOW before they stabilize at a higher price. Anyway we are still far from the £44 reported in this news.
  • When PS3 games first came out in England, they were priced at around £60, and now they are about £40... so I'm gathering that after a while, the prices for new games on PSVita will go down in price too!
  • Meh, they will cost 50-60 £ in Sweden anyway, I would be happy for the price that is shown here.
  • 44,99 for a game screw that even if i wanted a vita that would put me off
  • My pre-order has now been cancelled its the price of the memory cards that concern me aswell. Far to dear.
  • Too much money involved
