Square Enix has released a new video for Final Fantasy XIII-2, offering a look at the new features and gameplay elements we can expect when the game hits next year.

There's some stuff about the Historia Crux in there - detailing the ability that lets you jump backwards and forwards in time, replaying missions and testing out different outcomes. You also get a glimpse of the revised ATB and Paradigm systems, as well as the monster recruitment feature.

Chuck in a whistlestop tour of temporal rifts, the casino and a bit of gawping at the game's lovely graphics and you've got a super-fast preview of pretty much everything FFXIII-2 has to offer. Check it out below.

  • Really looks so much better I'm really excited about this game. I can't wait for the EU release!
  • Despite everyones hate for this game, this looks really good!! I am very excited for this sequel.
  • Finally decided to get this. I was ummming and ahhing over it for ages, but I've decided to go for it. Pre-ordered it yesterday. =) I really enjoyed 13, and this one seems to have fixed most of the issues with it (albeit, it seems, by removing other party characters in favour of monsters, but that can be fun too).
  • Eh, I'm done with Final Fantasy... VII was one of my favorite games and I bought every one after (even X-2, God help me), and every one has been a disappointment. Somewhere along the way, the focus got shifted to making linear dungeon crawlers for young girls and ruined the whole thing. Here's to hoping Dragon Quest comes back from the Nintendo Wagglebox and makes it back onto Sony consoles... DQ VIII was probably the last JRPG I've played that was even in the same ballpark as greatness.
  • i hope they have the same ridiculous(ly awesome) music for the chocobo races that was in FFVII
  • Give me a thumbs up if you watched this 5 times or more.
  • This trailer just made me much more exited for this game. And now I finally know how to pronounce paradigm.
  • Had this on pre-order a while, limited ed too :D love the FF series, own every main game between v and xiv
  • XIII was such a piece of shit that I don't even remember the story or even most of the characters names. The good thing about most FF games was that they were story driven games and the gameplay was secondary. But XIII sucked in all ways. It was a piece of shit. And this one looks slightly better. Like a sugar coated piece of shit.
  • I wonder how Snow feels that Serah is with another guy?
  • Innovative story, Innovative combat with QTA and cutscenes, possibility to revisit previous chapters, possibility of customization almost everything is good-looking and shiny.. .. ... IT'S A TRAP!
  • Can't wait for feb 2nd :D
  • seems pretty cool :-) hurry up february
  • This is amazing, so much was improved from Final Fantasy XIII. I really hope I may add a Adamantortoise/Long gui as a recruited member, they were so cute, felt really bad having to slay them for platinum ignots and Trapezohedrons. I know there's a few people who aren't interested but give it a try, you may up disliking/hating it more or actually enjoy the game. :)
  • OMFG
  • I'm still not sure why so many people hated FF13. It may not have been the best one in the series but that opinion will vary. My personal favorite is FF10. I am really excited for FF13-2 had the collector's edition reserved for awhile now. I think the addition of monsters as party members is odd yet it might just be fun since you can pick from so many.
  • This sounds just like the stuff I wanted in FF XIII. Except that that game needed a good narrative that did not require to read the datalog the entire time. I'll still wait for the (user) reviews.
  • User reviews are generally fucked up. If someone likees it they'd 10 it, you hate it you 0 it...that's the way things go about these days...with the exception of a good review amongst the idiocy. maybe watch some previews...if you haven't enough already or just read a review and based on what's good and bad...decide for yourself...don't let a rating make you buy/not buy this game
