UTV Ignition has announced a Japanese date for its ethereal hack and slash title that twists biblical mythology for an alternate account of the 'heretical' book of Enoch from the Dead Sea Scrolls. El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron is under development by UTV's internal studio in Japan, by a variety of ex-Capcom alumni, whose previous credits include Devil May Cry, Resident Evil and Okami.
In fact Okami's Art Director, Sawaki Takeyasu is on board as El Shaddai's Game Director, ensuring that the game's combat and unique original art style deliver when the game releases in 2011.
UTV Ignition has confimed that El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron will launch in Japan on April 28th, while a North American and European date will be announced shortly. Tentatively, the game is heading to PAL territories in spring 2011.
Wow - that's weird stuff. I do like Jewish mythology, and Metatron is a cool character.
Too much religious imagery for my taste, though. I pretty much max out at Persona for that.
