EA Teases Free Need For Speed DLC With Their 'NFS: HP 1 Million Challenge'

There are two words that when combined together, can make a gamer swoon and collapse in pure ecstasy, almost like a Transformer of the wordplay world.

Those two words are "free" and "DLC" of course.

When used alone, one is a word to describe a number - please don't take that seriously - and the other is an acronym that makes no sense whatsoever - DownLoadable Content... since when was downloadable two words?

Enter Criterion and EA's "Need for Speed Hot Pursuit One Million Challenge!" where you, the gamer, can dictate whether the upcoming Need For Speed DLC is free or not.

On offer are 3 convertible supercars - the Bentley Continental Supersports Convertible, the Lamborghini Murciélago LP 650-4 Roadster and the Dodge Viper SRT10 Convertible Final Edition - and all you have to do to get these as free DLC is to get the trailer below up to 1 million views by December 12th. In other words, watch it and tell your friends to watch it.

If it doesn't reach 1 million views by December 12th, then you, the people, will have to pay for them (we assume)... or just not bother with them at all. If it costs money this time around folks, you've got no-one else to blame but yourselves.

As 50 Pence would say, get pimping... or die tryin'.

[Thanks Alex]

  • #1 Stop with the First ppl. But they will probably make this DLC free but because its EA they might price it for some extra money
  • awesome!
  • Sweet, might buy this game
  • lol yea i like those two words especially if they affect the trophy Percentage
  • By December 12th? It willsurely have that many views. I think they set it up so it can't fail, butmaking them look like nice guys anyway.
  • it'll be just like Burnout Paradise, first few dlc's free followed by a load of overpriced dlc
  • 145,355 views as of now.
  • Ho ho...VERY CLEVER, ea. What you've done there is created a viral video that goes viral by indirect desire for free stuff... They force Criterion to take a few cars out of the original game, wrap them up as DLC, and tell people to advertise the game themselves instead of doing proper marketing to get more sales...sneaky. I'm still not going to buy the game (or ask someone for it as a present) untill Christmas, though.
  • In my view, if a games any good I will get the DLC regardless of price, thou saying free DLC is always a good thing and promoting a viral video like this is good advertising for the game.
  • oh i love this game, can't stop playing it.. the online is just GREAT!
  • Why is it just cops taking down racers?
  • 215k views now.
  • ^^Now 235k =)
  • playstation magazine gave it nine out of ten not ten out of ten?
  • @#12 This game has always been like that.
  • it would be funny if it had over 1 mill view and there weren't any free DLC at all.
  • Keep the views coming, just 692k again :D
  • Played the demo - it was awesome
  • 330k just now... I doubt it will reach 1kk of views
  • 327k.. itll hit 1 mil before the end of tomorrow at this rate lol
  • up to 352k views - excellent game, got the platinum trophy last night :o)
  • its only at 370k views I dont really think it will hit 1 million I mean a video of a kid hitting his dad in the balls would hit 1 million before this even if it was posted today. GT is out and thats what everyones looking at.
  • 460k now.
