Jimi Hendrix: Rock Band Rumours Dispelled By Harmonix

There's been a lot of crosstown traffic on the internet with rumours that have been circulating regarding the prospect of a Jimi Hendrix Rock Band title in the works.

The rumour surfaced yesterday following an LA Times interview with Jimi Hendrix's stepsister, Janie in which there was a discussion about distributing the guitar legend's music via other media, reading thus: "Sony vowed to make his music 'available through every type of media' — including a new edition of 'Rock Band' that Janie Hendrix says should appear before the end of this year."

Harmonix has responded by refuting the existence of a standalone Rock Band title featuring Jimi Hendrix's music, but they did have the following to say to Kotaku:

"While we have not made any official announcements regarding Jimi Hendrix and Rock Band, we are excited to say that we are in discussions to bring more of his music to our platform. Stay tuned."

We'd say that the safest bet is that Harmonix is trying to negotiate Jimi Hendrix tracks for future DLC. We'll just have to wait and see what happens. But remember, castles made of sand, fall in the sea, eventually.

what does everyone have against Green Day? their music is good, they have a broad fan base, and they have more than enough songs to fill a Rock Band library. its just a game, you dont have to buy it or play it.

@#2: Personally, I hate Green Day's music but see the appeal it may have to John Q. Teenybopper. My issue is that Harmonix is ruining their credibility with the same market-oversaturation that Activision is guilty of... Beatles Rock Band is fair enough because it's the Beatles... but Green Day? Not exactly the Beatles there, are they?

Seriously Guys. I agree with #2. I personally dont like Green Day that much, but they easily could deserve a game. Bands dont have to be like 100 years old to deserve a game. Get with the present.

I used to think only metal bands deserved to be in these things because their music is so much more complex and technical than everything else.....Then Rock band released some more metal songs. That stuff is hard. our general John Q public wouldn't even be able to play it, and that's bad for sales. After this discovery I don't really care what the game itself is, just give me what I like in DLC and everyone can be happy.
