EA Sports Development Process To Undergo Restructure

EA has decided to restructure the development process behind its EA Sports titles, placing the onus on one core team to supervise the production of all assets, which are subsequently shared between individual development studios. To date, previous EA Sports titles were developed at several satellite studios, such as EA Tiburon and EA Canada, where the general manager positions have incidentally been dissolved as the new restructuring plans are put into action.
EA Tiburon GM Phillip Holt, will remain at EA while Moira Dang, now former GM of EA Canada, will no longer work at the company. Additionally, EA has confirmed that a small number of staff changes will also be made going forward. "We're making organisational changes to our development team at EA Sports that will be better for the franchises and better for our people," reads a statement issued by EA to 1UP.
"We continue to pro-actively evolve our team to better position ourselves with improved product quality and growth in revenue for our shareholders, to share technology and lower our development costs, and to pioneer new innovation in digital experiences for our consumers," the statement continues. "As part of this transition, we have eliminated the site-based general manager roles at EAC and Tiburon."
This restructuring move comes in the wake of NBA Elite 11's cancellation, which had been in development at EA Canada before being removed from the firm's line up of sports titles. A source also told 1UP that a general manager will now be assigned to each EA Sports franchise, reporting to senior VP Andrew Williams, while Peter Moore will remain in his present role as president of the EA Sports label on the publishing front.
