World of Tanks is coming to PlayStation 4 next week, on Tuesday 19th January. The release comes following a series of beta tests on the console.

The tank-based multiplayer game is free-to-play and does NOT require a PlayStation Plus membership to enjoy, which is nice. You can save all your cash to invest in a Premium Account or some in-game goodies instead.

Speaking of in-game goodies, developer Wargaming is dishing some out to players on PS4. Everyone who logs in before January 31st will receive a free T1E6-PS Light Tank with "exclusive camouflage", while PS Plus subs will also receive a Pz.Kpfw. II Ausf. J German Light Premium Tank bundle, as well as three days of Premium Account time.

A World of Tanks Premium Account allows players to buy new tanks more quickly and dishes out 50% more Experience and Credits earned in a match. There are several membership lengths, stretching from a day to a year. More here.

I would have loved this game, but those mirotransactions are a killer for me.
I'd rather pay my £40-50 up front for the entire game.
Hate these so called free to play games that really to be fully enjoyed to the fullest is anything but free.
Even worse if it turns out to be pay to win.
Just my option, some people may like them especially those with deep pockets.

@1 No your right, unlike Warthunder or Warframe where its possible to do without microtransactions, World Of Tanks is like you said the guy with the most money spending will be the winner most of the times. Besides that, i played the beta and also played it abit on Xbox back then, but after playing Warthunder, World Of Tanks looks and feels to arcade for my taste. Not saying there will be plenty of gamers who will enjoy it on PS4 and have a blast there. But its def not something i will spend much time on. Like you wrote its our oppinions ;)

@ #1 and #2 ... Spot on. I really enjoyed Gaijin Entertainment's IL 2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey and Birds of Steel, but War Thunder's "free-to play / pay to win" model leaves a sour taste in my mouth. If you visit the Gaijin forums and listen to people talk about how much they have spent / spend, it is just ridiculous ...

It is really too bad that these concepts ... light to heavy flight-sim / tank-sim games are exclusively in the domain of this business model. Just sucks the enjoyment right out of it.
