EA and DICE have released some concept art and details on Star Wars: Battlefront's Battle of Jakku DLC, which will be available on 1st December 2015 for anyone who pre-orders the game, and a week later for everyone else. The free add-on will enable players to take part in a key moment in which "the New Republic confronted key Imperial holdouts on a remote desert planet".
Set 29 years prior to the events of the upcoming seventh Star Wars movie The Force Awakens, the Battle of Jakku puts you at the centre of a conflict taking place amid the aftermath of the Rebel victory in the Battle of Endor (as seen in Return of the Jedi), and will centre around the massive crashed Star Destroyer shown in the artwork. Imperial ground troops and Rebels will butt heads on this strange desert planet's surface.
"There’s a David and Goliath theme to this. The epic, huge super structures of the Star Destroyers contrast against the tiny but brave Rebel soldiers fighting the Imperial forces,” says DICE Concept Artist Anton Grandert. “We wanted to portray a battle completely surrounding you, in every direction. Debris is falling from the sky, telling the story of battles above. On the surface of the planet you can see ground troops as well as X-wings, all taking part of the fight.”
Check out the Battle of Jakku artwork above and below. Star Wars: Battlefront launches on 17th November 2015 for PS4, Xbox One and PC, before the Battle of Jakku DLC will be available on 1st December with pre-orders and will be free a week later for all other players.
