Batman: Arkham Origins developer WB Games Montreal is hiring for a new Unreal Engine 4-powered open-world project, according to listings on its job page. Apparently, the new title in question is also an entirely new intellectual property, the nature of which is currently unknown.

Roles WB Games Montreal is seeking include Game Designer, with the ideal candidate "responsible for designing and driving development of specific features or systems for an open-world action game." A Technical Director is also required, who will join the team "working on a new IP project for next generation platforms."

This Technical Director role will also help in "scripting languages and design tools of the Unreal Engine". This suggests that the developer's work on the Batman: Arkham games began and ended with Arkham Origins, which launched in 2013.

WB Games Montreal also enjoyed a welcome boost of $1.5 million from the government in October 2013, expanding the studio's headcount and tech. Hopefully, we'll have more on the studio's mysterious PlayStation 4 and Xbox One project soon.

  • Most likely The suicide squad
  • After the way they screwed up Batman: Arkham Origins, they're not getting a penny of my money.
  • Yeah their team is described as making DC licensed games. And after Origins it would most likely be a Suicide Squad game going against either Batman or other enemies
  • @#2 Screwed up how? Story was solid, MP was passable and other than that it was just more of the same. Unless you're strictly talking about bugs, none of which I encountered myself. It was pretty seamless experience for me and definitely worth including in the cannon. I do feel for folks that couldn't finish for some technical reasons and that is inexcusable, but if you played it the way I have, I bet you would have enjoyed it for what it was, just a nice addition to Arkham franchise=)
  • I had to comment on this I agree with @2 hey massively screwed up batman origins , the tacked in mulitplayer was soooooo broken didn't even manage to play a handful of matches and the story was passable , asylum and arkham night are the best in the series IMO
  • @4 you got lucky. It froze for me on many occasions. Luckily I didn't lose my save file like some, but I had to reply a lot of parts. I completed the story once and tried New Game +, but ended up giving up since it was still freezing after that last patch. The reason I would advise against them was the stance that they were not going to fix anymore bugs as they wanted to work on the DLC.
  • Hopefully its either Superman, Flash, or Green Arrow. I love the show Arrow, so I'm really hoping to see a Green Arrow game one day. And that would fall into the combat they've created. Superman would just mow people down and Flash would be awesome, but idk how you could do combat. But Green Arrow could use batman's combat system. Plus I could see them making Green Arrow a sequel to AK, with those events possibly shaping Star City as well.
  • @#6 I know, that fucking blows! I didn't even know that they came out and said they'd rather to DLC than fix known issue. Let's hope they learned their lesson, because game itself was fun. Wish someone made superman based game. It would require total system overhaul though...
  • origins was a good game even the MP was fun, but it was ruined by bugs, glitches & crashes. and refusing to patch the game because they were busy with the DLC says a lot about WB montreal.
  • Yeah, after Arkham Origins, I won't ever buy another game from these shitty devs. They were literally handed everything used to make Arkham City, then told to make an origin story. Except instead of using what worked, they changed everything that worked and made a horrible game.
  • With the fact they or whoever made Origins refused to patch the game because they focused on DLC make you wonder why you would buy this next piece of shit after the disaster of the PC version of Arkham Knight it makes me wonder if anyone other than console gamers would want to risk there money on another Batman game.
  • So I'm assuming it will be set in a slightly reskinned Gotham City?
  • I think I played a wrong copy because mine was not fun. The story was ok not wow but ok and the multi player was just down awful and unnecessary. Sure go ahead make your new game. It don't mean I'll suport you guys again. You guys should've named your game batman arkham shadow because that's all your game was a shadow of an amazing two other games.
  • My god, the world has gone insane. Origins is the best game in the whole series. Best plot. Best boss fights. Best detective scenes. Best character portrayal (aaand here I get lots of thumbdowns as I prefer Baker's Joker). And here I see bunch of haters who tell us that rocksteady obviously bad plot is now a marvel. Honestly, I deduced Arkham Knight identity before this game even was released. It was nothing compared to Black Mask spoiler in AO.
  • Why does everyone mention the multiplayer when they say this dev is horrible etc? They didn't make the multiplayer, splash damage did. The single player was good, better than city in my opinion, so I'll be waiting to see what this is
