Take-Two has registered several domains relating to Mafia 3, as revealed by WHOIS domain searches. Mafia3TheGame.com, MafiaIIITheGame.com, MafiaThree.com, MafiaThreeTheGame.com have all been registered and all run on Take-Two servers.
What does it all mean? Well it points to the imminent announcement of a third Mafia game. The project has been subject to numerous leaks, rumours and reports over the last couple of years. It finally looks like the chatter is over and the real info is about to emerge.
Mafia 3 first started making headlines in August 2012, when it was reported that 2K Czech was developing the sequel as a new-gen launch title. Then a couple of years later, in January 2014, it was revealed that 2K Czech was effectively being closed down with a number of the affected staff moving to other studios.
A couple of months later, Take-Two job listings revealed that the company was hiring for voice actors. The listings even mentioned a Louisiana setting and contained character descriptions. Last we heard, Vito Scaletta voice actor Rick Pasqualone tweeted that we "might have some exciting news very soon" regarding a third game.
We look forward to the official announcement.
