Take-Two Lists Several Mafia III Domains

Take-Two has registered several domains relating to Mafia 3, as revealed by WHOIS domain searches. Mafia3TheGame.comMafiaIIITheGame.comMafiaThree.comMafiaThreeTheGame.com have all been registered and all run on Take-Two servers.

What does it all mean? Well it points to the imminent announcement of a third Mafia game. The project has been subject to numerous leaks, rumours and reports over the last couple of years. It finally looks like the chatter is over and the real info is about to emerge.

Mafia 3 first started making headlines in August 2012, when it was reported that 2K Czech was developing the sequel as a new-gen launch title. Then a couple of years later, in January 2014, it was revealed that 2K Czech was effectively being closed down with a number of the affected staff moving to other studios.

A couple of months later, Take-Two job listings revealed that the company was hiring for voice actors. The listings even mentioned a Louisiana setting and contained character descriptions. Last we heard, Vito Scaletta voice actor Rick Pasqualone tweeted that we "might have some exciting news very soon" regarding a third game.

We look forward to the official announcement.

  • I would love to see Vito again. Absolutely loved Mafia 2.
  • Mafia 2 story was stunning and interesting, however driving and combat felt clunky, so I will naturally get the game, but they should fix those so this game could be great. Also, add side missions so there is something to do post-game. I can hardly wait for this.
  • Great if this is true, totally loved Mafia II.
  • Since Bethesda had their own E3 conference this year, I think Take Two should hold a conference. They release a good number of games for a company considering they own 2K and Rockstar. They have alot of advantage, they should use it and Mafia 3 could be a great leading title for their conference
  • @#2 Couldn't agree more. Loved the story. Loved the characters. Combat was manageable, but driving was a chore and the open-world aspect of it bored me to tears. It suffered (imho) from the same problem that LA Noire faced. They were interesting open world games that forgot that you need something to do in between "point A" and "point B" to make the open world aspect of it worth having. Driving for what seems like forever between points in missions in vehicles that are more boat-like in their mannerisms than car, all while having little to nothing to do besides the linear story definitely hurt both. Don't get me wrong, though. What Mafia 2 and LA Noire did correctly was so great that it made both games great, if somewhat flawed. I'm sure that with this gen of consoles they will more than make up for that. I am definitely looking forward to hearing more about this. The Louisiana setting could be really interesting, too. That was one of the best things about the first season of True Detective.
  • I guess I am in minority, but I thought Mafia 1 was better game in all but obvious technical constraints of that time. Loved the story and gameplay and while sequel was very good as well, it didn't live up to the original in my eyes. Here is hoping that third game will be indeed something special=)
  • well the cars where clunky in that time lol Loved mafia 1 + 2, one of the coolest IP of all time hands down. @6 probably thats because of the transition from a more linear to an (almost) open world approach in pt 2. You simply have better story telling options if you leave out that open world stuff.
  • Yes! I've been waiting for a third entry ever since that annoying cliff hanger ending. Mafia 2 was hands down one of the most fun GTA style games I've ever played, but I do hope they do a better job with the driving this time around.
  • Please do not repeat that 200+ posters (Card Sharp) trophy (unless you put in a collectible finder in the game)... and do not repeat that 1,000 miles DLC (Explorer) unless you give us more stuff to do post game... BUT for the love of God, keep that Ladies Man trophy with more of that Playboy magazine stuff please :D LOL/JK
  • Mafia 2 had the best in-game collectibles EVER! Normally I hate collecting stuff but by golly I'd be willing to find a thousand playboy girls :)
  • Love Mafia2 but like others said an open world city needs more to do, like the first Godfather game. The trophies where stupid also, I am on chapter 12 atm using 1 car and still only got 27 miles for the 50 in one car.
  • Sweet, I just got the platinum on Mafia 2 last week. Excellent game. Definitely looking forward to the next.
