Double Fine will be releasing seminal 1998 LucasArts point-and-click adventure classic Grim Fandango via the PlayStation Network this week, albeit in a lovely remastered guise for both PlayStation 4 and PS Vita.

Charting four years in the life (or rather death) of skeletal travel agent Manny Calvera, Grim Fandango Remastered has been lovingly draped in slick, revamped graphics, sexy pimped audio and overhauled controls.

An acclaimed adventure game classic, you'll be able to rediscover its unforgettable characters and blend of film noir and Mexican folklore when Grim Fandango Remastered releases later today on the US PlayStation Store and tomorrow on the EU PlayStation Store.

  • I'm so happy about this: if it sells well it may make way for more old game remasters. Tim Schafer is (apparently) already working on the remaster of Day of the Tentacle. I personally never played this games but heard great things about them, so I hope they get the recognition they deserve.
  • I believe that this is also going to be cross buy. I can't wait to play it; I've heard so many good things about it over the years.
  • It's been too long since I've played this. Will wait on sale as my backlog is pretty big as it is, but can't wait to finally replay it and in HD!
  • Whilst I never played this, I did play the Indiana Jones game and secret of monkey island games and they were really good
  • Great game but can't justify the price tag of this, will wait for a sale or the inevitable PS Plus.
  • I want to get this on the Vita but the Sony store lists the file size as 7.2 GB, which is 3 GB more than the PS4 version. Can anyone confirm this Vita file size.
  • Comment #6 by Ac3s 4 Life thats both machine combined :)
  • The game has no widescreen support, which is a no-buy for me on Vita the screen is already small enough as it is. Also PC users complain a lot about graphic issues like black backgrounds, glitches like being stuck in a wall and faulty mouse controls. I don't think the price is justified by the effort put in.
  • @7 Oh ok. Unfortunately, I'm still going to have to hold off until I make room on my memory card. 16GB just isn't near enough space.
  • @8 no widescreen support? So what do you call those screenshots up there? You really think they wouldn't updade something as simple screen size?
  • @10: "Cut". The second one shows the game. It's either in letter box, with those ornament side bars or in stretched 16:9. If you look at the video you'll also see the ornament bars in every game scene. The simpleness of it depends highly on what material they had, but yeah, I expected they would at least put in proper widescreen resolutions - especially for consoles.
  • Is it too much to ask for a physical release?
  • Anyone else having trouble downloading this? It shows in my games, but when I select start, it tells me the game has no data. It prompts me to go to the PSstore, but download isn't an option because the store knows I've bought it already. When I try to start it there nothing happens. WTF? Anyone else have this issue or just me?
  • Fore anyone wondering about the aspect ratio. You can select 16:9 from the option menu.
  • 100% cross buy?
  • #15 what do you mean? If you buy the game you have access to both PS4 and PSVita. The trophy list is shared.
  • Another remastered game, nice change.LOL
  • This game is still great! I just want to point out that when I purchased te game an error happen where I couldn't download the game after buying the Sony website had a fix where you go to a web broswer and send the download to the ps4 just want to give a heads up so you don't freak out like I did when I got off work and it won't let you play it. It runs perfectly and is a great game along with the monkey island remastered editions.
