This months games must be best ever then on PSN for PS+.lolWednesday, January 07, 2015 @ 01:12 PM
I can give a suggestion; Upgrade your hardware and peripherals (better speed and stability in connection for PSN users) Update your firewall that's used for PSN etc. (Less chance of being hacked, which makes us feel safer and you more 'trustworthy' for more to join.) Spend money to make money.Wednesday, January 07, 2015 @ 01:32 PM
I doubt Sony's issues are based on Hardware, peripherals or firewalls.Wednesday, January 07, 2015 @ 01:56 PM
this is what all the money for the ps4 subs being mandatory were for......to upgrade and improve the network......its worse now than it was for the ps3 ive been a member of ps+ since the hack in 2011 and ive never experienced this much downtime and maintenance since the ps4 launched its now beyond a jokeWednesday, January 07, 2015 @ 02:11 PM
I am wondering if a ddos is really hacking?. Since its basically just spamming the network with heavy trafficWednesday, January 07, 2015 @ 02:13 PM
@3 Trust me it does, I've been at 2 different colleges and one had real good speed in its network, why?, because they had all of it updated/upgradedWednesday, January 07, 2015 @ 02:16 PM
@#4 Then you probably understand why all the issues. As more and more gamers sign up for Plus, Sony's servers are struggling to keep up. Before only selected few that wanted Plus would buy it, I bet now they have 200% or more users and they can't keep up. Hopefully they will work it out soon. MS has advantage in the fact that Live was required for online from the day it was invented. Sony made it optional simply to try and compete, but now that they know they're selling so much better than MS, they also made it mandatory. Makes sense...Wednesday, January 07, 2015 @ 02:23 PM
@2 you do realise a ddos attack isn't a hack ? Even some of the most sophisticated networks can't withold a big enough dddosWednesday, January 07, 2015 @ 02:28 PM
@7 that makes no sense. The number of plus members doesnt affect the psn. The network is used by everyone, member or not. My ps4 runs slow as shit. Always. Its not my internet, and things download fast as hell in the rest of my house, including vita. Ive read about people with 100 mbs getting only 25 on their ps4. Sony really needs to get the PSN sorted, cuz i always dread using it.Wednesday, January 07, 2015 @ 02:35 PM
I hope they get this sorted out soon because I'm having major issues at the moment with the Cloud and I'm pretty sure the current network problems are the cause :(.Wednesday, January 07, 2015 @ 02:43 PM
@ #5 - No, DDOSing is not hacking. I can teach my 3 and 5 year olds to DDOS a website/network. No skill, just scripts. What's sad is people just love to blame Sony, yet fail to realize that a DDOS attack CANNOT be avoided. You CANNOT prevent it. At best, you can slow it down so that it takes longer to hit full effect. I agree there are a lot off issues with the network, but I'm sorry, this is what happens when you publicize every stupid thing these kids do in DDOSing Sony (or any other company). It just means the next basement keyboard warrior that wants their 5 minutes of fame will do the same thing.Wednesday, January 07, 2015 @ 03:04 PM
I hope Sony has Washington state , city of Tacoma on there list of networks to look into . Since PS4 launched I have experienced an average of 3 days of psn down time per month for each month , even when psn is online and no maintenance happening the PS4 still feels unstable and chat and messaging is not reliable .Wednesday, January 07, 2015 @ 03:52 PM
@9 your PS4 running slow has nothing to do with the network. Just replace that shitty 5400rpm drive that it came with. Can get good Hybrid drives for cheap.Wednesday, January 07, 2015 @ 04:18 PM
@11 agreed, the media blows it all out of proportion. They need to stop associating hacking with a DDOS and stop naming the groups responsible. If you want a news report on a DDOS you should get a class full of 8 year olds and teach them how to do it and see how long it takes them to make a working script. I'd love to see that. Maybe then these groups of Geohot wannabes would shut up about their hacking skills when a class full of kids can replicate their work in less than a day.Wednesday, January 07, 2015 @ 04:53 PM
I'll be hanging in there. Yes I want my PS4 to be 100% cooperative but if not I can leave my house do whatever and just wait for Sony to figure it out. I've been a customer for years and will continue to be. Take your time sony, make the network better.Wednesday, January 07, 2015 @ 06:02 PM
@2 Yeah new peripherals aren't going to do a thing. LolWednesday, January 07, 2015 @ 07:20 PM
@7 your reasoning makes it even more inexcusable for Sonys network to be so shit! It was understandale on the ps3 because it wasn't a mandatory service like it is on ps4....The fact that sony openly said the money would improve infrastructure (which it hasn't it's exactly the same as it was when it was free on ps3) and have had more issues than ever smacks t me of money grabbing and gross incompetenceWednesday, January 07, 2015 @ 08:23 PM
@16 peripherals include cables your know @ 8 A ddos attack is a hack, but it effects on outside, not inside, so commonly not referred as oneWednesday, January 07, 2015 @ 08:32 PM
@2: You mean that thing Sony was supposed to do last year when PS4 came out and they charged us all to play online so they could "improve the network"? Yeah, it's about fucking time Sony started improving the network, they have a years worth of PS+ money from PS4 owners now. Get to work already, Sony! Best place to play my ass.Wednesday, January 07, 2015 @ 08:35 PM
Also, to everyone saying you can't protect against a DDOS, this is true. However, this isn't a DDOS problem. And not every problem throughout last year was a DDOS problem either. There were a few DDOS attacks and many more times where the network just went down for one reason or another that had nothing to do with a DDOS. That, and overall download speeds, are what Sony needs to improve here. Nobody expects them to defend against a DDOS. But when a DDOS isn't happening, we want the improved network that was advertised we'd be getting in return for the mandatory PS+ subscription.Wednesday, January 07, 2015 @ 09:40 PM
They just bragged the other day that they have 10.9 million ps+ subscribers, surely they can get better servers. I see it as lazy, don't fix it till it breaks mentality.Thursday, January 08, 2015 @ 12:56 AM
Piece (of) Shit Network. That's all there is to it.Thursday, January 08, 2015 @ 08:41 AM
@18 if you think a ddos is a hack you need to do some research, overloading a server with script bots is not a hack.Thursday, January 08, 2015 @ 10:15 AM
@22 your comment made me lol amen to that :-)

PSN is having a moment again. Sony is looking into reports of unscheduled downtime for the network.
Speaking on Twitter, the official PlayStation account tweeted, "We're aware that some players are seeing drops on PSN. Engineers are on the case and investigating."
The PlayStation support site adds that PSN is currently experiencing heavy network traffic. It's unknown whether the downtime is the result of a DDoS attack.
"Some latency may be experienced due to high volume," says Sony. "Should you continue to experience problems after PSN services are fully restored please refer to Contact Support."
